The title says it all, what phone should I change to?
Can change in March as my plan allows me to change every one year. No idea what phone to change to. Budget is of course lower than the S II.
Look for any phone offered that is confirmed to have ics support, that has a decent cpu clock speed.
The xperia line is getting cheaper in singapore.
Maybe an lg optimus 2x its far less money, but not a million miles from the s2. Large screen, dual core and official miui.us and cm7 support. There going for nearly half the cost of an s2, so you should get it free. Not a bad looker ether.

Perhaps a Galaxy R might fit your bill
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
LG Optimus 2x maybe??I love that phone and is planning on buying it..
Otherwise, you could go for Galaxy W,but its not dual core
If it were me i would stay with samsung, theyve seemed much more reliable and value for money than other brands ive tried (huawei u8220 + u8110) however those phones are pretty old now, so the newer budget phones from huawei may be pretty good
What about SE Xperia Neo V??
It'll get ICS too ??
depends upon your minimum requirements too...also if u can wait a bit more sony will be launching some good phones shortly in different price ranges

Hello fellow SGS owners, I love my phone but I also get bored easily.
So which phone will you be getting next?
I'm thinking either
Xperia play - Hardly an upgrade but will make playing games a lot more fun especially old snes/gba games like mario/racing etc which really need a gamepad
Galaxy s2 - This is a good phone the next 1 has got to be good also right?
Evo 3d - Super specs but not even official in uk.
I also have another motive, a 20% discount card for o2 (shop in uk) which means I will be able to pick up a play for about £350 - The card is only valid till the end of the month so I'm guessing there is no chance of getting the evo but maybe just maybe the S2 will be released in time
So what would you do? or is there something else you are after?
Galaxy s2, but more than happy with sgs 1 at minute, for emulators I use a zeemote anyway so not bothered about xperia play.

Galaxy S II.
I think my next choice would be tegra 2 based. Just because of the support nvidia can get.
Which makes me disappointed that the galaxy s 2 may not be tegra 2 depending on the region. Also I personally prefer 4 inch screens.
The atrix has a higher screen resolution meaning that it gets less fps in games. And its pentile LCD which isn't the best. Amoled pentile is great as we all know. But non amoled pentile is known for its screen door effect.
Which leaves the LG optimus x2. Great ips LCD, not quite amoled, but good. And tegra 2. Perfect size screen.
LG optimus x2 for me.
Although doesn't the optimus 3D use the sgx 540, same gpu that's in the sgs, but overclocked and it kicks the tegra 2's ass if I remember rightly.
Good old sgs hardware
Tmobile G2x(optimus 2x in other region) because of the almost vanilla android experience, it is tegra, cyanogen will be supporting it. and its simple and affordable. No more no less and easy to hack? Haha lol
My other options is optimus 3d cause of omap4 and SG2 only just because of its looks.
Infuse 4g

Think I will be sticking with my Sx2 for a good while yet.
I'm waiting until the sgs3 to switch. Dual core is only three times performance of single while quad is fifteen times single core. I buy unlocked so I might as well keep what I have for a while and then get the absolute most for my money when I do upgrade.

If you really need / want a new phone then wait for SGS II but i would advise you to save your money and don't waste it on mobiles.
i heared rumors of the streak 2 could be my next one dell seams to leave the bootloader open don't they?
perhaps i'll go with the evo 3d i am into that whole 3d stuff but if a nexus s 2 or a nexus2 is on the horizon that would with the right specs be my choice above all

The Galaxy S II
Lol not a lot of love for the Play then.
That is pretty much my thoughts but I think I needed you guys to convince me not to go for the Play now.
Here is a question though, if I get to the end of the month and no other phones have been released should I buy a xperia play for £350? do you think I'll be able to sell it on a few month on for about that amount?
By the time my contract runs out my next phone will be quad core
maybe the Galaxy S3 when it gets released next year or if there is something better, then that, currently i have no reason to switch, the performance is great of the SGS, we have the latest Android, maybe we get the next one also and if not then we have maybe a really stable CM7 or CM8, for me it needs more then just dualcore to get me on a new phone.
Galaxy S 2 for sure. Galaxy is the best phone I've ever used by a mile. Modded to the max.
Also got an iPhone 4 (completely modded) but that phone is just a joke. Feels 2 years older than my S.

My dream phone is SGS2 at the moment. Generally speaking, I would say that my dream phone should have a large display, dual core processors, ARMv7 processor, physical keyboard and a good camera with flash. I don't worry much about battery life, front facing camera and even the normal camera if it does not have a flash.
I work as a software developer for a company which provides Business Application Services and I can afford an expensive phone, but only if it is worth the bucks and also if the phone company provides good after-sales service.
im satisfied enuf w/ my O1 so far.. so im not planning to buy a new phone

I was going to the store to buy a galaxy s but after seeing bad news about ics I am disappointed.. SGS and the Nexus S has the same hardware.. And it won't get ics because of crapwiz. Is this phone still worth its price?.. Even f***ing LG Optimus Black will get ICS. Why Samsung? HTC DHD has the same price. HTC EVO 3D is about $50 expensive.. But HTCs are too heavy! And SGS2 is about $250+ .
Well, according to my experience; it is better to buy a phone that has 1GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S just doesn't cut it when it comes to multi-tasking! For shame.

Buy a 1gb or more ram phone.
Look xiaomi mione. That's just 310$ and 1.5 ghz dual core /1gb ram / 1930 mah battery
In actual, ICS uses less RAM than GB and Sammy's being lazy. So the only hope is to develop ports and customs. Tweak and take apart AOSP and make SGS ROMs, maybe then Samsung will give us something ('cuz I hope that there aren't id***s working).
It all depends on what you are going to do with the phone.
Currently on the galaxy s i use as
Phone
Navigation
Maps
Browsing
Email
Chat
Video chat
FM
Camera
Watch movies, streaming also
YouTube
Flash video and content
Movie recording
Music
Social networking
Read news and magazine
Minor photo shopping
and more
All this have done without any issues.
Only thing I don't do is play games.
May be if are you into games you could do with more RAM otherwise save your money and stick with galaxy s.

please buy a phone with more than a gb of actual useable ram..samsung basically sucks when it comes to software.hence everyone ends up using custom roms or kernels.check out the galaxy r if ur tight on money.(well, they're similarly priced )in my place its actually VERY cheap compared to similarly spec ed phones from other manufacturers.it also gets ics update confirmed by samsung.however if u have money go for a HTC..most importantly no matter what check out If the phone has a developer community at xda.cause the manufacturers will leave u alone just like that.they don't care.xda does.so take a look at galaxy r if its also similarly priced in ur country.or HTC if u can afford.
Hi,
In Belgium, now and because Galaxy Nexus is available, and because ICS will not be ported to Galaxy S, the Galaxy S is now available for 230 euros; which is incredibly low price regarding phone quality.
Very important point as well is that there is many dev and support activity in the forums for this model.
So, if you don't need big cpu power, I would say that Galaxy S is a very good phone, on which you will be able to install ICS rom thanks to xda devs ;-)
The price difference is so big between Galaxy S and SII or Galaxy Nexus that I wonder if I would pay that difference, even if I had the money.
Anyway, I did not try other phone than Samsung (Apollo, Galaxy Captivate, Galaxy S, Galaxy SII), but I am still very happy with my beloved Galaxy S1

Ops... sry i didn't realize ) i have a ob so i post here instead of o2x.... )
to answer your question... If you are not in a hurry and dont mind chipping some cash in go for razr maxx. Its inbuilt 3000+ mah battery will last for ages and it is almost as fast as sgs2 (both on stock) once u get rid of the motorolla crap from it. If on the other hand u are refering to a normal razr then go for whichever u like thw most keeping in mind that on both phones battery life will suck big time. P.S razr maxx is almost as slim as sgs2 despite the monster battery. I also like razr screen more because despite being amoled it is not as exaggerated and oversaturated as the sgs2. Hope u enjoy whatever choice u make.
Both are great devices.
Sony Xperia S is also a good option bcoz in my country it has the same price as Galaxy S2 while Moto Razr is lil bit more expensive.
Anyways I love my Optimus Black + It'll also get ICS not like Samsung which has bad reputation in this case.

Now that's up to you. Galaxy Nexus has vanilla/pure ICS, it's design is damn sleek (so is Motorola RAZR) and eveything is good. Only downsides are that it doesn't have expandable memory by microSD (like all previous Nexus phomes) and it's camera is 5mp vs 8mp for RAZR. But they both have 1080p rec.

I have been eyeing the Droid Razr until the Sony Xperia S came. Xperia S is definitely better than the razr
Just curious why those here chose this phone. And which phone did you come from? Was it the price? Carrier? Size? Just genuinely curious. I've even thought of getting one myself to play around with which is why I'm here.
Well yes price was definitely the thing to consider. When I bought this phone, I had very little knowledge of android. I just went with the intention of buying a phone around 11k Rupees. I looked at everything (even blackberry!!). Every phone had its pros and cons. I was a little wary about the 600Mhz processor but then this was the only one with ICS pre-installed. I even considered Micromax Canvas 2 (Indian Brand) but I rejected that because the screen was too big. Specs-wise it would beat the crap out of desire C with a lesser price tag. I wasn't even remotely thinking about rooting at that time Then finally I decided to go with this. Now after all this time, I'm really happy with this phone and I consider myself lucky that I stumbled upon this wonderful site called XDA. If it wasn't for Xda, I would still be thinking. "What if I had bought another phone?"
For me it was either a galaxy ace or desire c...
i buy it for used only at work !
It was between the desire c and Samsung galaxy Q (Canada only) for me. Then I face palmed when the galaxy ace 2X came (Canada only) because it was AMAZING and I would have got it if I waited like 3 more weeks before buying a phone. (The ace 2X is what SeannyM bought , he Canadian like me )

my choice was dito same
Changed my choice at the last momrnt when came to know desirec is shipped with ics
My defy mini needed fixing so wanted a cheap temp phone. Desire c or galaxy ace...tried galaxy ace and it was poo and broke in 1 week so reluctantly got the desire c.
Really like it. With cm10 and a few tweaks it just works. Use this as my main now.
i bought nexus 7 tablet so i don't need high-end cellphone
and before desire c i had xperia sola, arc s, htc hd2, incredible s, iphone 3gs, and more
The main reason for me was the small price tag.I got it for 160€ which was the highest price I could pay :S
The second reason was the small size (yes, the fact that all mobilephones are getting bigger and bigger is really grinding my gears) and there were roms (which weren't that good as I thought)
I came from an old Sony Ericsson Cedar which was my escape from my ****ty Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. But the Desire C really didn't dissapoint me
For me it was build quality, screen size (4" display devicers are just to bulky for me to carry around) low-ish price tag, and of course vast support on this exceptional community! I didn't even bother to buy sim-free one, got it locked to another carrier on a discount, unlocked it in a jiffy.
Went straight ahead and picked custom rom for it, Sensational V3 from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320080 and flavored it with an 800 Mhz Prometheus kernel.
I must say I'm impressed! Coming from galaxy 5, on which plethora of various roms were installed, this one is truly a wonderful piece of work.:highfive:
In fact, I was so darn impressed, that I've finally decided to register on the board, after lurking around for years..
I really like this phone but it is just not enough for me!( going for a. N4)

Only good thing about it is the price. I used the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2x and there was lag everywhere. Unlocking the home screen, opening system apps, even the settings were laggy! The cameras are decent, and the 4in screen is OK. I would have chosen the Desire C over the Sammy because of its build quality and its community. I knew that the Sammy was sold in select countries so it wouldn't be supported by XDA, unlike the Desire C. Its what I look for in phones now lol
