Tsk Tsk Tsk.... read forums on how to do it please!
But I'll help anyways, USB Debugging mode needs to be turned on, on your phone.
You need to have the LG Thrill USB drivers installed on your PC
You need to enter USB debugging mode on your phone... Should work after that.
Usb is on and yes i have current drivers installed....im not new to this stuff just new to the thrill coming from a captivate
any help is greatly appreciated
Are you using the one from the Development forum for the Thrill?
Yes ive tried that one, ive tried several

Okay. Let's go through the loops.
Are you on Froyo or GB?
froyo 2.2.2 havent got any ota yet one of my reasons for wanting root
Alright.
FROYO - CHECK.
Would you care to try this in rooting?
it worked.
Thanks so much for your help i really do appreciate your time. Any rough estimates on your rom yet?
Really noob question... is there any plans on getting 21b rootable anytime soon?? I've had no problems running this stock, in fact battery life has been very much improved.

Hi all. I've had my Nexus for about three weeks now, and while I originally bought it for Froyo, I'm getting impatient and have the urge to root and try ROMs like CM and Modaco.
Should I wait or just root and do it?

Even if you root you can still install Froyo. Its not like you're losing the ability to install Froyo by rooting. Actually, you don't even have to root to install Froyo now irrc..
I say go for it.
Then again, I'm a bad influence, and have a reputation for voiding warranties.
I rooted my phone within the first hour I had it - haven't looked back

My phone looks to be fine. No screen, wifi, or any sort of issues. But I've read that HTC still fixes unlocked phones (at least sometimes). I'm just afraid of paying $530 for this thing and then bricking it. Haha.

There is no chance of bricking it unless you update the radio. You won't have to update the radio to flash most 2.1 ROMs.... you will have to when you upgrade to Froyo. Might as well go ahead and screw around on 2.1 for now

Does anyone else appreciate the irony of someone asking XDA if they should root?
It's like asking a kleptomaniac if you should shoplift.
I didn't root for 3 months until last week when I finally rooted. With froyo so close I thought about waiting. But once I rooted its now obvious that rooting is the way to go. Don't even worry about the official update coming. Just root it and you will have the official update earlier than if you don't root. Plus cyanogen is such a great ROM and totally worth it.
Okay so, I'm going to root and look at flashing some ROMs. Any guides out there? I see the sticky in General for Sense UI, but I'm not terribly sure if that's what I should follow or what.
Thanks!
Edit: started new thread.
just a quick question to you topic creator..im very new to rooting and flashing roms myself may i ask what guide you used to lear to do it?

In General Paul posted a guide from stock N1 to Sense UI/CM (it's a sticky). I just went down that and it worked great.

Hey it's not like we do it because we want to, we have to!
Lmao, sooooo true
so i bought my galaxy s last november and was super excited for the super phone it looked like, it is my first android phone and started off amazing. a few weeks after i got it i downloaded 'kies' where i was supposed to be able to update to 2.2, but it completely fried the internal sd card, and bricked me phone :0.
luckily i had a full return warranty for one month with Virgin Mobile Canada (i'm from toronto)
since i got a new I9000 i got the 2.2 firmware to work (with great trouble!) and now have no trust for samsung's Kies program.
i have loved some froyo for the past few months and am a huge android fan,
recently i'm hearing of the gingerbread update coming to the galaxy s in canada very soon, now i'm not sure whether to trust kies with this possible bricking update or not.
so that's why i'm here, to ask for information on the easiest, safest way to root my galaxy s so that i can have the gingerbread update, i am a total beginner with rooting or even the idea of it, and would greatly appreciate any help that is given!
another smaller note is i am getting a message on my galaxy lately that says 'database storage is nearly full' with a popup that looks like a red SD card symbol.
what does this mean none of the internal memory is close to full in any way at all!
so to sum it all up should i trust Kies for Gingerbread?
should i give rooting a try? (and how is the easiest/safest way to do it?!)
and what is with this memory almost full message about?
thanks for any replies everyone!
you dont need to root to update outside of kies, its done with other software on your computer. With that being said, i would think if you are a beginner it would be easier/safer to do it through kies.
can you refer me to a way to update my firmware outside of kies?
Read through this - if after a couple of read throughs you understand what to do, go for it... otherwise yeah you might just be better off sticking to Kies.

Hello Guys,
starting with a ton of thanks to all of you, that let this place be the wonderful place it is for people looking for some news and advices etc. etc. etc.
and absolutly sorry in advance if i havent find what i'm looking for, boring people with the noob thread, but that's it, i've a couple of questions.
i finally got my LG Thrill 4G and i live in Italy and quite everything is working fine with the stock rom, but i've yet customized my old (bad) Motorola Backflip with a GB Rom,and i would like to test some customized Rom,but for example is hard to find the Rom, cause dead links, and i have a couple of questions:
1-i've rooted the phone and installed the CWM (and it works, cause i accidentally delete some system file and done a restore with a saved backup through the recovery) i've also downloaded from market the Rom manager ,but doesn't recognized my recovery and ask me again to flash the cwm, but it shows just the Optimus v and the Optimus 2x options not the thrill or the O3D. so the question is, how is it possible that it doesn't recognize it? is a problem between the download from the market,i'm pretty sure to have followed instructions in the right way, cause it works. why there isn't the right choiche for the thrill?some suggestions? Thanks in Advance
2-i'm in Italy so i can't use a lot of bloat like every kind of at&t stuff and i was wondering if ,like for the Rom customized, there is a way just to trash all of this things i never use, cause sometimes i received message you cant trash it.
there is a particolar procedur to follow to don't lose some system file uninstalling them?
and finally the third
i've seen that some of the Rom of the O3D i can use on the thrill, there some problems with the radio,or some advice in using an "european" Rom in an usa phone?
thanks to all

It's a fantastic phone as far as hardware. The majority of us are a bit bitter over the lack of software support from manufacturer/carrier in the US. If you have the 30 day return policy, I'd give the phone a chance.
I really like mine. Stick with the stock ROM, just remove all of the bloat ware. Other ROMS aren't ready yet. Maybe they never will be, but at least stock works.
I used the Galaxy One-Click Root program and(yes it worked) then removed all of the garbage AT&T junked it up with. Runs great other than the camera acting wonky every now and again. I agree about staying with official build rom. As bad as I want Gingerbread, I'm not wanting the headache of what works, and what doesn't work.

i think it too , and here in italy we dont' have a policy like this, here the O3D costs about 600 euros, and is really not affordable.
but in any case i've got mine and i'm really happy with it.
just the battery is a bit sad,but nothing major looking at galaxy s2 or other smartphone.
i'm very glad about it.

extended battery (haven't tried it, though)
Another silly question:
I've tested a couple of roms and i'm trying using a O3D,but i've read that GB Roms have 3d issues.
Wich is one Froyo based Rom that goes fast and stable, without battery draining and can still use 3d and hdmi?
If i update the baseband to GB,i can restore or install Froyo Roms, without change it?
Many thanks to all.
P.s.
Just to let you know, in Italy,on my thrill,
Thriller, and Thrill_seeker are good, but also the doomed Froyo.
The stock Rom of O3D is good too,but still drain batt.
Thanks to all.
Stavo pensando se c'e' bisogno di qualche traduzione in italiano per i miei compaesani, che come me hanno acquistato un bel Thrill.
Saluti.

i picked up a used first generation(7" SCH-I800) VZW Galaxy Tab on Craigslist a couple weeks ago and have had a series of problems while trying to root it or even connect it to my computer.
im looking for Verizon specific instructions if anyone can make that happen.
i have a Windows 7 64bit PC and every time i try to install the drivers it fails. i do NOT have the Kies option in the USB connect menu in settings, only Media Play and Mass Storage. i downloaded Kies from Samsung website and installed it, and again the driver failed to install properly.
i know theres a bunch of people out there with rooted/rom'd Verizon branded Tabs. i'd love to figure out how you guys are doing it.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
nothing? nobody here has a rooted Verizon Tab?

I finally got my phone back! Rooted ics from xbsa. All seems to be working fine. I had to reset my laptop, I got a virus that was slowly eating away at my system32 folder, which is why I was having such a hard time flashing any from successfully. I have been trying to root my other thrill which is running stock 30b and havn't been successful at all, for some reason the drivers are showing up. As for base band, that is a problem because both devices are omap4430/xmm6260, as such, they are on euro networks. I know from developer xbsall threads (check out his roms, very cool stuff) that I need a different baseband, and to change the network commands, but inspire of hours riffleing through sea threads I have yet to find instructions. I am sorry I couldn't be more help, I am brand new to this stuff. Good luck fellas. Drasric00 created a great thread "a moons guide to xbsa v8 ice 3d with acid audio" tremendously helpful, except for the baseband thing.
