being the dumass I am, I couldn't quit pr*cking with my phone.
Using Win 7, RSDlite,
I was running .901 and kept having some issues and decided I would like to learn to go back to .886 or .893, then back up, just to say I can. DUMMY!
anyhow, I was using the pathsaver and got disconnected from usb. I'm stuck in fastboot and getting a FLASH FAILURE notice. also received a "InfoPreFlash validation error"
I was trying to git-r-done without posting but because of our friends at the DOJ/FCC I'm having problems getting files also.
I'm not very knowledgeable so the dumber the instructions the better.
If you are in fastboot mode, try using the manual flash system.img method found here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408522
It was the radio.zip file I was forgetting! Thanks for the reply with the link. I had done everything else in that tutorial. I'm a happy man again. I'll probably wait at least a week before I try something dumb again.
Make sure you us the usb ports on the back of your comp. If you're using a desk top.

I tried to install the new ICS rom posted here on XDA recently and ended up in an AP Fast Boot Loop.
After trying all of the back to stock versions i have saved for use with RSDLite 5.6 . None of them would get past step #6/20 before the process failed.
I finally came across this link on Droid Forums. I downloaded the NEWVRZ-XT875-55893XT875 file and it worked like a charm in RSD Lite 5.6. It did take me back to stock so i will have to install all my stuff but after messing with this for about 5 hours i am a happy camper again. i keep telling myself no more ROMS but........also this put me on the OTA update track as well.
Hope this helps someone, like a said if this doesnt belong here

I have a bionic that i system updated to 5.9.902 a couple days after i got it. Then i made the mistake of coming here and messing up my phone because i have no idea what I'm doing
I installed safestrap and did the whole noob step by step guide. Installed eclipse and a couple other roms. For some reason i wiped my internal and external storage. I have no backups of anything.
I've tried releasedroot, petes, rds lite with the 902 xml. I got stuck all the time with what seemed to be a driver issue.
I just want to return this thing to stock and stop messing with it
As of now when I press power i go straight to ap fast boot flash failure screen. I press power to power off and hold vol up and down to boot into recovery but just pick the normal boot option. Phone then boots into what seems to be my stock 902. I dont know if im rooted anymore.
If i could rid my phone of this flash failure and safestrap, i would be stupid happy
Anyone out there willing to help a total noob? If any more info is needed I'd be happy to provide

What error did you receive using rsdlite?
When you go into your phone settings..can you verify your on 902?
I'm at work now but it was some sort of usb failure. It got stuck on 1/22 mbm something.
Yes as of right now im on 902.
Is there a tutorial on how to completely remove usb drivers? Even though rsdlite says I'm connected, I don't see my phone drivers in device manager. That's where I think I'm going wrong but not really sure.

So I tried to flash the 229 while still on 2233 but of course it didn't work. I then tried to flash the 902 using the pathsaver and and stuck in bootloop. I can access recovery though and other flashing tools. All I have access to is my laptop running Ubuntu because I'm 1000 miles from home. Any help here?
Your best bet is going to be flashing back to 902 using your cmd prompt and flashing each item one by one. I had to do that while i was out training in the middle of nowhere. It takes a little longer, but works. There also use to be a tool for linux/mac sort of like rsd but all the links i found when i was training were dead links, hence why i flashed each item seperatly.

I feel like an idiot because just last year I was manually flashing other peoples Bionics, but I don't remember how to do it. Do you know of any walkthroughs?

here's a link you can try
http://www.droidhive.com/forums/index.php?/topic/87-902-bionic-pathsaver-for-windowslinuxmac/
i usually use windows but this link have linux/mac version too
good luck
Those are both great links, thats where i found most of my info for recovering mine when i bricked it. I lost everything on mine. I only had fastboot... lol. I ended up actually taking a little info from multiple topics then pieced it all together and managed to accomplish what i needed. There wasnt any specific topic that worked 100% for me, not to mention all the dead links i ran into for almost everything i needed to do it within linux/OSX/Mac

I appreciate that but the link to the files are dead. Somebody needs to make a new legal hosting site lol. As a side note, I pulled the SD card and put a couple of update files on it then booted into recovery. From here I was able to flash both updates with zero issues, however the bootloop still remains. WTH??
I fixed it. I pulled the SD card and put both the 905 and 229 update on it. I then placed it back into the phone, booted recovery and flashed both updates (flashed 905 rebooted still bootloop, then flashed 229 rebooted). My Bionic is currently booting up now. Made it past the Dual Core screen fairly quickly too!
Let us know if it finished loading and if your good to go. If not i can see what i can do about uploading the files i used if i still have them. I know i do on my mac but that is in a connex on its way to me from fort irwin at the moment, but i think i saved most of them on my tablet too.

Hi guys, my phone was rooted using the CWM clockwork recovery injected smartflash method. I figured out I am too hopeless, and easily frustrated to have a rooted phone. So I went to install the original firmware with smartflash, unfortinately it did not work and timed out and now I am stuck on the SW Upgrade screen. I have tried multiple times, and even tried the LG recovery tool and all of them time out eventually through the process. Can anyone please advice me how to proceed? I use firmware v20c new zealand
Try to reinstall the drivers and download the bin files again, smart flash is the way to go

First off, thanks for that video. It was one of the few easy to use resources to root!
I have tried reinstalled drivers, downloading it again and making another rom of it with rom creator both with and without CWM clockwork. At this point I just keep trying hoping it will work. It keeps :Timeout error is occured different periods each time.
Im getting very frustrated as I am seeming to make no progress and dont know why it isnt working.

You are frustrated to having a rooted phone? But why? Lot of benefits if you have rooted phone. About the time out, It happened to me before. It shows time out so what i did is gave my phone some time to rest. I went to bed go to sleep and when i woke up i used smartflash again and it works!

I enjoyed the better interface and such, but all the bugs and constant resets were getting on my nerves. I guess I am too used to the team iOS. Thanks for the words of encouragement, if it doesnt work tonight Ill try again tomorrow. Its getting quite nerve racking, can't seem to get it to work
The only other suggestion I have for you is try some other cable, good luck! =)
Have you replaced the smartflash with a fresh download?
Yes, use new cable
Just only Cable made my phone bricked and cost me RS. 3000

i Have a recently rooted Atrix HD and have been doing the usual customizing that comes with rooting. i decided to try and update to jb using the instructions found on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976956&highlight=leak but during the step of using rsd lite to flash to a unmodified 4.0.4 i have run into an issue where i cannot flash the file it fails on step 1/23 without any specific error. it will not boot regularly i had safestrap installed previously and i found that by holding all three buttons on the side of the phone to get to a boot menu then selecting factory i can get it to boot regularly but it will not reboot without doing that. i am a noob to this sort of thing and any help would be appreciated.
thank you very much in advance,
Gage
note: i followed instructions exactly and have no idea why this happened

Yeah, this can help you
Also make sure your phone is charged. That IS THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE people make. Low battery makes your flash fail
Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk 2
I forgot to mention I tried that method also and it did the same thing as rsd lite and failed on the first step I tried the old one and the 144 like you suggest thank you for the quick response.
Note: I am going to make sure that my battery is at 100% and make another attempt I thought it was charged enough but it is possible it was too low

Tried again with battery at 85% with no luck. Not sure what I am doing wrong do I need to temp unroot or something. Still failed on sending "sdl1" the first step. My phone is a at&t phone and is s locked bootloader same as everyone else's I am starting to get frustrated. Now I cannot boot up regularly without holding the buttons to get into the boot menu and selecting factory if I don't it goes straight to the fastboot screen. Am I missing something simple.
It fails giving me the error
FAILED (data transfer error (unknown error))
After saying sending for a long time

I know this may sound silly, but if you have a different USB cable lying around, give it a try.
That data transfer error shouldn't be occurring.
Nothing to lose, much to gain
