Hi guys, I have a very unstable WiFi with GingerDX and FroyoBread, I tried full wipe, but it didn't help me..
It's connected an signal is more then 70%, but market says, there is no connection and browser can't load page...
On stock ROM all works fine. Can anyone tell me, what's wrong? THX!
check ur internet wifi modem..i'm using GingerDX V008..and there is no wifi problem..
I wrote, all works fine with stock rom... do you understand it?
Problem is only with custom roms.

True Man...same problem with me...though wifi works fine on Hackdroid Roms ..thts why i prefer hackdroid,speed is fast as well..

I had the same problem on GDX v009 ... WLAN disconnects and reconnects every 2-3 minutes.
Following the suggestion from Dexter_prog to replace the files in /system/etc/wifi with the files out the ZIP file attached to this post resolved the problem over time.
To repeat Dexter_prog's instructions:
Copy the 3 main files in the wifi folder:
- twilan
- tiwlan_firmware
- wpa_suplicant
To summarize, what I did was:
1) backup those 3 files
2) delete those 3 files
3) copy the same 3 files from the attached zip
4) reboot
The problem wasn't gone right after the reboot in my case, but the longer the phone was running the more and more stable the wifi connection became.
I guess I should add that I never had that problem before. WiFi worked absolutely fine and rock stable on Stock Elcair and Froyobread - it only started to give me troubles at the upgrade to GingerDX.
I'd say it could be worth giving it a try.
I had the same problem, I used hackdroid floyo 0.30 and all worked well... But only for a one day. Now I tried your tut, and... It works! Thank you guy, you solved my problem...
Crap i thought this can fix my problem. when connecting i get stuck @ obtaining ip address. then x88 reboots.
I have problem with my X8. I found a post about eduroam network fix and i install it. It was because i couldn't connect to my school's wifi. I copied a new wpa_supplicant file into system/bin, but the problem remains. At home i have my wifi secured with only WEP, but after I copied that file i cant connect to my home network. If I want to connect...my phone cant receive an IP from router and if I want to connect to another network i cant....Can somebody help me? I tried to reinstall GingerDX but it was the same...please do not tell me to install v023b cause i tried it once, but i stuck in SE logo...
did you initiate a full wipe ?

As a short run-down ...
If you copied wpa_supplicant to /system/bin manually you may have the problem that the permissions of the file are simply wrong ... would perfectly align with the problem you describe that your phone is unable to connect to WiFi and point out that you should keep your fingers far away from tinkering around with system binaries.
Re-Flash your ROM or update to v023b, flash the correct Stock Kernel or Alfs AddOn, Full Wipe.
Know what you're doing before playing around (TM)

I set the permissions correctly...i installed v022 again (without full-wipe) but nothing happened...when i tried to install v023b i got stuck in SE logo and i had to flash original 2.1 eclair with PCC. I dont know why...maybe is was because i tried to update CWM which was included by doixanh probably...
i have sony xperia x8 with STOCK ROM and STOCK kernel ,,,and since 2 days suddenly i am not able to connect to my wifi home network router...
it does not search it when i keep my device for scan...
it shows different wifi routers near me ,,but does not shows mine...
i tried deleting other networks and forgetting them..
i also tried deleting cache,system,and data from recovery..
tried flashing my custom ROM again,,
also tried restore to my several backups and ROMs but none work...

i am using custom ROM with android 2.1.1.C.0.0 with custom kernel version SEMC 2.6.29....

Eemh, what rom and what kernel?
Custom kernels are LinuxDX, Alfs for GDX, Alfs for Cm7, nAa And nAa ics.

sorry,,sorry,,i mean stock ROM and stock kernel...
Okei. Try opening bootloader and flash MiniCm7.2 2.2.0 and nAa 11 kernel.
No problems with wifi for me.
But maybe just reflash with seus. Should solve all problems.

Yeah like i said it should fix all problems.
But i recommend GingerDX v26 for u if u like using stock kernel.

ok,,ok,,but i also tried updating my xperia with sony PC companion.
it was successfully updated but then also wifi is not working.

Deem. When u turn on wifi u get error or just dont see ur router?
I think problem is ur router. Can u connect any other device with wifi?

no,no,,my router is working properly.
i am accessing internet via laptop connected to wifi..
only my xperia does not connect.
my other cell also gets connected to my wifi router..
bt only my xperia does not connect.
it does not only shows my wifi router name when i search for wifi.
i'll better try updating via seus.!
If that dont help then make hard reset to router. Maybe that helps

SEUS won't work.Use Flashtool to reflash the phone.My phone had this problem once and it was fixed by the flashtool.

yaa,,ur right..
flashtool didn't work ,,and i also flashed my xperia with the stock ROM 3-4 times..
but then also it didnt work,,and still having the same problem..!!

i once also pressed the RESET button on my wifi and also was in dilemma wid wifi configurations..!!
but all in vein..!!
if u can tell me what configuration should i help on my wifi router then it may work...!!!

hey i got it working...!!
there was some problem with my router settings...
it was something related to WPS (Wifi Protected Setup)
it it was disabled then i used to get my xperia connected,,,bt internet on router used to get lost..
and when it was enabled i culdnt connect my xperia to it...!!
dont know how i did it..!!
so can u plzzzzzz give me settings so i can save it for future,,if this kinda ****t again happens to me...!!!?
Update: Solved (just reflashed the ROM)
I have a problem here with my X8. So, after I have successfully unlocked my bootloader without the network problem, now I have a wifi problem. So what I did was: rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader, applied a nAa kernel (before that I tried the MiniCM9 with the ICS nAa kernel), then I applied the custom ROM called JoyOS... In both cases(ICS-MiniCM9, and JoyOS) I have the problem when connecting to a wifi router, I cant use it. I know it sounds strange but I can connect normally with the wifi but still I cant use it... I mean when I try to open google.. or use anything with wifi (like syncing) I just cant... it says unable to connect to the internet. I am thinking its the unlocked bootloader problem.. but I am not sure. Can someone help with this please.
Maybe just reset router...

Have u tried connecting to a totally different router cuz that may be ur problem, I have a friend who had a similar problem with an android tablet that didn't like his router so give it a go it won't hurt to try
P.S did it connect when it was stock?

it did connect when it was on stock ... and I am not sure but I think it actually was working a little while I was using the MiniCM9 ICS ROM and on the same rom actually the problem has occured. Now I am not sure if it stopped working because of the unlocking and applying a new kernel or something else happened in the mean time.. Could it be I disabled wifi somehow? somewhere?
What rom are you using? i only say that because when i swapped from minicm9 to semc debrand engine both wifi and 3g stopped working but when i switched back to minicm9 it worked perfectly again.
Try a Full wipe + wipe dalvic cache (or whatever it is) and install the rom again, hope this helps
Now trying to flash miniCm9 again.. we ll see now.. will update in a few minutes

Hey, I've got a problem after a fresh install of GDX 028b.
My WiFi simply won't connect. It sees the avaliable networks, but when I try to connect to my router it stucks at connecting, at disconnects, then goes back to scanning, doing this cycle forever.
I have an Alfs v08 and GDX v028b, and I've installed the GingerDX Alfs Kernel AddOn v007 as well.
What can cause this problem?
Things I've already done:
-deteled the remembered networks
-completely wiped everything, reinstalled rom, kernel
There's a kind of fix Swift did with titanium. it worked for me even on v28. You may want to search that.

and Im trying to flash all kernel and ROM
and now the wifi and mobile network is working normally :laugh::laugh:
