I think this is what you are looking for.

so how will this give me root and cwm???

Root/CWM/Custom Roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455888
Or just go to youtube.com and search "How to root droid bionic" and you'll get this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiLwCKCz_Fo
I would recommend safestrap recovery over CWM. This can be found here http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/p/android-downloads.html Make sure to read all the direction on the site and in the noob guide before using it and you will save yourself a lot of heartache.

How to root ERROR

Hi my names Steve Ive been trying to root my phone but everytime i try to download the update.zip file it always says error and it cant/wont do it. Please help.
I have a Moto Droid 1 with the 2.1 update 1 software
do i have to downgrade to 2.0? if so can someone help with that?
thank you
There are many tutorials to explain how to root. If your on 2.1 yes you have to downgrade to 2.0.1. I had to and I got mine a couple months ago. First go to Motorola android development forum of xda and find " guide to root Droid manually." It explains how to root and has links for what you need to download to do so. You can also search Motorola Droid rooting tutorial online. There's videos on YouTube also other sites such as alldroid, droidforums, and unlockr have tutorials. I recommend watching the video on YouTube before rooting because there is one thing the tutorial doesn't explain.
While flashing or running the update or downgrade process it may say failure in the rsd lite window. When this happened to me I freaked but in the video it says to just click the line where it says failed to flash. It then disables the USB connection and completes the process on the phone after that you reboot and you are now on 2.0.1. This is of course you follow the tutorial by word.
From that point I recommend getting rom manager from market to flash the recovery and to begin installing custom roms but you can always download them from the web. Again alldroid and Droidforums have good up to date lists and links for the roms. Good luck and any questions you can pm me.

Could anyone reupload a few files?

I've just received a second hand Droid Bionic and it came with Liberty 2.0 still on 5.5.886. I want to upgrade to 902 and I tried using the 902 pathsaver here (http://www.droidhive.com/forums/index.php?/topic/87-902-bionic-pathsaver-for-windowslinuxmac) but it seems that the necessary FXZ file has been taken down. I've tried to look for it but the few pages that I found all lead to the same fileserve page which says that the file has been taken down...
I need the file "VRZ_XT875_5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml.zip". It seems to be the first step in the 902 pathsaver process and I can't seem to find it. Does anyone still have this file?
I plan to use the 902 pathsaver to shoot be directly to 5.9.902 and root it at the same time. Then I install safestrap and will probably use Eclipse or Liberty. I'm stuck at the first step...
I'm at work so I cant dropbox it, but here is a link.. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-bionic-hacks/202176-detailed-safestrap-instructions.html
You will see it under full 902 fxz towards the bottom of the thread
You can make your process easier too...by just using RSDlite with the full 902 fxz then root with motofail by Dan Rosenberg.
I thought pathsaver was the easiets method. Thank you for your time
Either way is fine. Both get ya to the same point. If ya want to learn more about rsdlite or moto-fastboot...hit me up.

You can upload to dropbox from your phone with either the dropbox app, or es file explorer does it also. I prefer es. I'm always uploading and downloading things to dropbox.

ATTENTION: You can use Motofail-ICS or RAZR'S EDGE to root the ICS .246 update.

There are like a zillion threads (ok I'm exaggerating) ballooning over the forum about, "How do I root .246?"
Motofail works just fine for this. As does Razer's Edge. It's been answered quite a few times by various posters.
Crobs links to Motofail here in Optional Step E:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771993
So hopefully this catches your attention if you're wondering what to use to root. (And hopefully no more new threads on this very simple answer will pop up ^_^)
Thank you for making my search simple for me. Haven't rooted yet but motofail is on my laptop from the gingerbread days.

Unfortunately Motofail didn't work on my Bionic, failed on the 1st step (push exploit folder), continued past but everything got a failure message. I ended up using Razr's Edge (link) which did the trick in one try.
Seems to use the same exploit but slightly different script to push it? (too busy @ work to look into the details, sorry)
Just use Rzrs edge. It honestly doesn't get any easier then that.
Plug in the USB. Turn on debugging. press enter..... done
Motofail has an ics version. I got it from 4shared after a quick Google search for Motofail ics

Unrooting when Razrs Edge was used
I just rooted my bionic after the ICS update and put on Safestrap v3.05 and backed up the system as it was at that point to capture the entire OS and apps. So I can put it back as it was to that point. (Rooted and installed Safestrap v3.05)
My question is 2 fold actually.
1) If/when we get JB, do i need to be unrooted and totally stock to get the OTA OR can i just be rooted and remove Safestrap with all apps and OS restored to full to get the OTA JB?
2) If i need to be unrooted, is there a way to unroot the bionic after i have used Razrs Edage?
Thanks for any help in advance

1. You definitely need to remove safestrap. Root shouldn't be an issue as i understand it. "Forever Roots" are, but you didn't go that route.
2. I believe House of Bionic will unroot and keep data safe. I always fxz before ota events, which wipes everything.

Unrooting Bionic

I rooted my phone a while ago using Motofail and would like to update my phone so I can put the ICS update on it that was pushed out the other day. I am kinda a noob to hacking my phone and would really like some help with this. I have found the Motofail for ICS for once I install ICS.
http://droidmodderx.com/bionic/
This guy has a lot of tutorials on YouTube & needed files for you to download

Just download and install all parts of House of Bionic and follow the on-screen instructions. In order to un-root you need to choose option 2 then option 2 again. Check out the FAQ if you have trouble with ADB. Read the post very carefully and probably more than once but it is actually very simple.

Thanks Samuri for this script, I have been telling everyone about it. Cheers!
?
does anyone know if the apps that hide the root will work or do I have to completely unroot the phone?
rooting the phone
as you most likely know motofail will root the phone, settings applications unknown sources, development usb debugging i also check leave screen on, then when usb is plugged in make sure charge only, have a good charge also on yer battery, if in 7 right click on motofail run as admin
i also like to have wifi already going and download root checker, this verifies, sometimes, dunno why, when i go to one rom or another i have to use one version of motofail or another version of it, also motooneclick worked for me also,
either way that'll get your phone rooted, i haven't done anything with ics, i did see a version of motofail for rooting ics afterwards
i'm on eclipse 2.2 which i just love, need anything else gimme hollar, skype allen-sec or yahoo allensecz
learning the bionic and this myself, been at it for about a month, learned a lot, just don't have 3g flowing yet,
so if you got that going on yours, hey gimme hollar
sincerely, mrbeav
Bare with please
I asked in a different thread but I got some things answered but not all exactly.
I keep hearing if I want to unroot my Bionic I need to use all the HoB files or FXZ. I will explain why I'm still a little confused.
I used Razrs Edge to root my bionic earlier this week after the OTA ICS update. Worked in like 3 minutes and put safestrap v3.05 on and made a backup of my stock OS. I want to restore and then remove safestrap but I'm confused on how to unroot. Since all the unroot methods seem to be based around HoB or motofail or using the Pete's files (which the links never seem to work)
What i need/want answered is how do I unroot it if I used the Razrs Edge method of rooting? With one of the methods i mentioned above work? If so, which one please and will i just follow the same method?
My reasoning is when/if JB OTA comes out I want to unroot to get it so i figured since I'm involved now, I might as well learn how to unroot it now and get it over with.
Thanks
Eric
You may want to try OTA Rootkeeper. You can find it on Google Play.

I did this and it worked!
I just started using SuperSU, which has a clean up root option. Seems pretty slick so far.
