root for FRG22D

Hey guys,
Trying to help a buddy at work unlock his driod1 - he updated to FFRG22D - now any of the single click root methods do not work..
My phone is a nexus1 and did not have these issues: As I am not a Droid owner / user I am hoping people in the forums here help to get him rooted.
I would like to get him on to ClockWork - so we can flash CM6 on his droid.
Can someone point me to a good guide to rooting this?

hey if he is OTA FRG22D can you please post his build.prop file for me to take a look at, it can be found under /system on phone memory, i am working out a market fix for rooted frg01b users like my self, i wont update until after frg22d is rooted for real but i can spoof the version and fingerprint if i have that file contents

Have you had any luck? My buddy had his phone replaced and the new one has this update, but he would like me to root it again for him.

can you not just download the old froyo, put it in the sd as update.zip, flash that then root?

I have the OTA FRG22D stock unrooted. In-order to root it, I used the following procedure, from droidforums:
"Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version". After installing the custom recovery:
"MC1_A855_1282081087_Recovery-Only_SPRecovery_0.99.3b.sbf", I was then successful installing a wifi hotspot app

little bit more than that but +1. Thanks for that thread though, trying to root a friend of mines Droid after he got that frd22 build it wont let him use rootme

The one click root apps do not work with FRG22D. The exploit those apps used was patched with this release.
The FRG01B & FRG22B stock/odex/deodex only work for devices that are already rooted. Meaning that if you do manage to imstall them you will not have root.
You need to do a *sbf* back to 2.1 or2.01.
root droid regardless of os version.

Flashed his package which roots and disables the attempt at the droid to unroot

well, ****. I'm new so I can't post outside links yet, but go to droidforums and search "[HowTo] Root, Deodex, and Theme Droid Froyo 2.2 FRG22D"
worked fine for me, no issues so far.

Use the rsdlite process, hold the x down on your phone when it says rebooting

I'm new to the Droid 1 I came from the Eris and it is easy!!!!
Okay so I did it with out even having internet on my pc or Linux laptop which thank god I finally got internet today!!!! Use the rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin method... Super easy I actually downloaded using my D1 transfered file from my phone to Linux laptop and changed the Windows commands to Linux commands and it worked and then I went in to market and flashed Clockwork!!!! Oh and yes I'm on FRG22D the phone came as a replacement for my Eris and it already had this build on it... PM me if you have any questions...

Try using a root required free app from the market and if you are root it will work if your not it wont... Easy as that!!!!

for those of you who are doing this the complicated way, THERE IS a ONE-CLICK METHOD, since I cant post links, Google SuperOneClick, download and find instructions, its pretty much as easy as downloading the .zip, extracting it to where ever you want, right click on SuperOneClick application and Run as Administrator, make sure USB debugging is checked, DO NOT mount as USB storage device, click root button on the program, let it do its thing, and wa-la!
You have acheived root! Be sure to download the Custom Recovery of your choice, which is as easy as DLing Rom Manager from the Market and flashing ClockworkMod, I just did this and am now happy I spent time searching and not typing commands into the SDK, super easy and it works for the DROID 1 FRG22d, I just did it.

[Q] Critical Error 1337 510B

So I recently acquired a moto milestone and I am trying to root it. I was following the instructions posted in the dev forum but I don't have privileges to post there with my issues so I am asking here. When I try to flash the vulnerable recovery image I get Critical Error: 1337 510B and nothing happens. The phone is still completely useable. What is the issue here?

Try shorten the file name like a.sbf and try again.

Could it be my bootloader? It says it is 2C.6C when I go into the bootloader menu.

4 times on two different computers. I tried flashing different sbf files like the stock 2.1 and 2.2 roms I have found.

You don't have Motorola Milestone A853 (gsm/umts), but A854 or A855 (cdma), therefore you should follow Droid guides, not Milestone guides.

I would recommend safestrap recovery over CWM. This can be found here http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/p/android-downloads.html Make sure to read all the direction on the site and in the noob guide before using it and you will save yourself a lot of heartache.

LG Marquee Root Help

Looking for anyone who would be able to help me root this since the ZVC upgrade, I've been over at the other android forums and following the step by step rooting guide and running into problems on both a Vista operating system and Windows 7. I'm looking for someone I can bounce a few questions off of as I have spent the last day and a half trying to get this thing downgraded and rooted. I'm willing to try anything!!! My patience is wearing thin... Thanks in advance!

A quick google showed me there is quite a few ways to root it. What methods did you try? (I don't know which methods will work on the newer software)

I've tried them all and none work.

1) Have you tried this : link
It should work regardless of what firmware you are using now. Since it will downgrade you to a firmware that can be rooted using security flaws.
2)If you want to keep the newer firmware and not use a custom ROM it's more complicated.
Get your firmware like so : link
Extract it to bin and fls like and inject CWM like so : link
Install it using SFT like so : link
Use the bin and fls files from the above step and NOT the one posted in the thread
Then you'll boot into recovery make wipe in data and cache and in advanced wipe dalvik.
If you are unsure of anything in method 2 don't use it. It can brick your phone ( I can be unbricked but that unnecessary hassle ) Use the first method. ROMs for P970 will not work on the Marquee. (If it does boot then it's lucky don't take the chance thou)

blackjack includes a marquee root process. since I never got feedback for it, I don't know if it works....

Unrooting Bionic

I rooted my phone a while ago using Motofail and would like to update my phone so I can put the ICS update on it that was pushed out the other day. I am kinda a noob to hacking my phone and would really like some help with this. I have found the Motofail for ICS for once I install ICS.

Just download and install all parts of House of Bionic and follow the on-screen instructions. In order to un-root you need to choose option 2 then option 2 again. Check out the FAQ if you have trouble with ADB. Read the post very carefully and probably more than once but it is actually very simple.

does anyone know if the apps that hide the root will work or do I have to completely unroot the phone?

as you most likely know motofail will root the phone, settings applications unknown sources, development usb debugging i also check leave screen on, then when usb is plugged in make sure charge only, have a good charge also on yer battery, if in 7 right click on motofail run as admin
i also like to have wifi already going and download root checker, this verifies, sometimes, dunno why, when i go to one rom or another i have to use one version of motofail or another version of it, also motooneclick worked for me also,
either way that'll get your phone rooted, i haven't done anything with ics, i did see a version of motofail for rooting ics afterwards
i'm on eclipse 2.2 which i just love, need anything else gimme hollar, skype allen-sec or yahoo allensecz
learning the bionic and this myself, been at it for about a month, learned a lot, just don't have 3g flowing yet,
so if you got that going on yours, hey gimme hollar

I asked in a different thread but I got some things answered but not all exactly.
I keep hearing if I want to unroot my Bionic I need to use all the HoB files or FXZ. I will explain why I'm still a little confused.
I used Razrs Edge to root my bionic earlier this week after the OTA ICS update. Worked in like 3 minutes and put safestrap v3.05 on and made a backup of my stock OS. I want to restore and then remove safestrap but I'm confused on how to unroot. Since all the unroot methods seem to be based around HoB or motofail or using the Pete's files (which the links never seem to work)
What i need/want answered is how do I unroot it if I used the Razrs Edge method of rooting? With one of the methods i mentioned above work? If so, which one please and will i just follow the same method?
My reasoning is when/if JB OTA comes out I want to unroot to get it so i figured since I'm involved now, I might as well learn how to unroot it now and get it over with.

You may want to try OTA Rootkeeper. You can find it on Google Play.

I did this and it worked!

I just started using SuperSU, which has a clean up root option. Seems pretty slick so far.
