You are amazing. This is going to help so much with porting over CM6
I'd like to take this opportunity to #blamewes because I don't have a Vibrant yet.
I love you. Now I can sleep

thank you
Does this mean wes is gonna be a vibrant dev???

Probably want to pull the Sims 3 out of there, it's a carrier exclusive and I don't think T-Mobile and EA will look lightly upon it being hosted here.
sweet, we got wesgarner developing for this phone?
Did Kingklick take over as wes for a while? why post a thread to a link with nothing there? expecially since there was already a thread waiting on a system dump link?
2 questions:
- What is a full system partition??
- Is Avatar not included because of legal reasons or because it wont work on other Androids?

Legal Reasons!
All other applications are included because they are as stock - not unodexed for other phones or anything
Also, I am 99% sure they are locked to only be used on this phone - plus G1/etc does not have near enough specs to run it
(aka if I get a request to remove it, will no prob - but with those restrictions I am sure they don't care)
Very nice...good work.
Oo, thanks for this. Will you also be working on the Captivate, also? Not sure to get this phone or that one, yet
Is it possible to install any of the apks? I tried a couple with no luck. Couldn't get Sims to work after installing and some apks won't install at all...
I'll be doing some dev work as I just got my Vibrant today. No eta though as I have been EXttremely busy moving to portland

YAY you got a vibrant! So happy you're gonna be one of the Devs! Thanks in advance!
Great thanks
why no recovery? Why no spl why did you leave these out?
Wow u guys are awesome. I wish captivate had a dev team like u. So well organized. Only wish vibrant off contract is cheaper then captivate.
There is an awesome (non-root might i add) app for those who don't like your info being shared with anybody called PDroid that can be found here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056
Among its huge feature arsenal is the ability to block app's from seeing your IMED, SIM details, sms/mms, etc. It consumes no battery life at all and is very customizable. the only downside is that you must make a patch for each device and each ROM. i took the liberty of making said patch for the Ba2tF CM7 ROM and have posted the CWM-flashable zips for your enjoyment. all you have to do is boot into CWM and flash. if for some reason you don't want your phone to be awesome you can flash the "restore" zip and the original files will be back.
I am not responsible for literally a single thing you do with these files. have fun.
If you found this helpful or just enjoyable to read the thanks button is somewhere down to the right.. but whatever you do, don't hold down shift while you press it!
UPDATE: PDroid is not yet compatible with ICS/CM9 but the dev is actively working on supporting this, so sit tight and i will update the OP when he does so.
Since it works on Ba2tf, would it also work on weekly/nightly builds?
It is very rom specific, i wouldnt use my zip for Ba2tF with that rom.

It does work just fine on Neutrino ROM which is based on the weekly builds.
I have created patches for Dorians Redpill, Ba2tf, Neutrino GT/GT+ will also be creating one for EE shortly. I will post the patches for the API for PDroid shortly.
BTW this privacy app is awesome! You just need Linux to create a API patch for your phone.
EDIT: I had to create a new post to add the attachments..... kept failing every time I tried to add here. See post below.
Below are the API patches required to run PDroid for the specific ROMs. RESTORE patch included to remove the patch if it doesn't work. lol Don't hold me responsible if they don't work or if something funky happens..... but it worked for every ROM I have tested it on.
Keep in mind you don't need to be rooted to run the app, but you need to be rooted to run the patch.
EDIT: Also remember if your ROM ever gets updated odds are you will have to create a new patch for the newest version.
I got a PM from the dev today who had some good news.. Previously the patch maker was only available for Linux..
The good news is that you now can make a patch for your ROM yourself. Check out the PDroid patcher for Windows in the PDroid thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19570091. Or download it directly: http://goo.gl/oztqS.

Thanks for the info.
Setting up to try my hand at rom devel soon; once cm9 is a bit more stable ill build from git. Have compiled source for "true" linux but not android.
Since I'm making it security centric, this could be a nice addition. Will be researching further.

I have been using LBE Privacy Guard, which revokes these permissions and more on an app-by-app basis. It's not ROM specific but a little time-consuming setting up rules for each app.

My update will have the tweak and the app integrated
I can't thank you enough for the patch n1ckr0th. I've been using droidwall and an app called permissions to stop other apps from sending my data out. Now it's up to me who sees my real data. I understand that a lot of companies make their livings on advertisements and the like, but why do they have to know about and acquire my personal data for me to play a game or run a process that allows me to work more effectively. It's issues like this that make me want to learn how to code for android and write some great apps that won't steal everything on your device that it can see. Hmm, actually that's a good idea. Thanks again.
B.B.

Okay, I'm going to compile this and go to Judo because I can.
When I get back you might/might not see a build uploaded. If you don't then don't blame me.
but if you do then please do the following:
0) Set up ADB on your computer and backup stuff
1) Download it
2) Clear data as normal
3) Install it via Clockworkmod recovery (if possible)
4) Run the following...
adb dmesg > dmesg.txt
adb logcat > logcat.txt
at the same time to log everything your phone does.
Once this is done, please use logcat.miui.us, pastie.org or pastebin.com to report all the logs so I can read them later.
If it boots, screen cap it along with everything that's working. Please also include the recovery version you used too.

Here is my port thus far:
X Disclaimor - Rom does not boot meaning this is not working yet X
I think since sense 4 was obtainable I'd like to think Sense 3.6 is too.
Now, i'd like to ask for a little help if anyone is available.
Plus, I know developers because I am one; we have an insatiable palette for a good project.
I've discovered two things that have made me feel like i'm stuck:
4/12/2013
1) I am not sure what else I can remove from the system dir to decrease the size to what is needed ~ 272524902.4 bytes (259.9Mb)
The Roms system dir is ~274083573.9bytes (261.4Mb); I basically need to know what else I can get rid of that equal up to 1558671.5 bytes (1.5Mb)
Here's the catch- I already took out the weather from media and apps and have symlinked them from the data partition.
2) I am not sure if I have correctly made the kernel.
I have a boot.img from the sense 3.6 rom i used to port. And I added the bootclasspath from the base kernel.
I also have renamed the proper files that needed to be renamed with inc.
Update: 4/13/2013
I've shrunk the system/usr dir down and now the port is under the size limit.
I have also tinkered with the boot.img more. Can someone check it to make sure that I have done is okay..
`Link in my sig:
First thing check how we did it before using symlinks to make some of the files physically on data but linked to system.

So far I've symlinked system/media/weather to data/system.weather and the system/app dir to data/system.app.
This is what i'm using:
symlink("/data/system.app", "/system/app");
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/data/system.app");
symlink("/data/system.weather", "/system/media/weather");
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/data/system.weather");
Do you think i could do the same with the system/vendor dir?
Edit: Don't need to worry now that the current port's system partition, which is now uploading, will be under the size limit.

We need to see how PureMotive got it booting on Sense 4. My brain's rusty on that project as it died a while ago and I am not sure how he got it to boot. I also need dedication to work on Sense after the superiority of AOSP on an aging device let alone ICS Sense. I don't know if I will have time to dedicate now that I'm working more on the Galaxy Nexus and a CM 10.1 ROM.

Damn. Wish I wasn't in bed already.
I'd compile pures git and see if his kernel does anything with the WIP.
My kid gets on the bus at 7:50a (est) and will Dev a bit before I get going for the day.
But if someone tries before then let us know the outcome.
I'm transferring over two versions of the WIP now.
One with the boot.img from pure's git injected into it.
And another that is redesigned to look like how pure had it. Also, I merged my bin, lib and xbin.
Also using the boot.img from pure.
Testing in a minute or so and i'll report back with the outcome.
(Off topic ~ Today's my 4 year anniversary being at xda )
Edit: Yeah, they both didn't work. I'm uploading v0_3 now so you guys can take a look at what I did.

Be advised that I'm not a recognized developer and that my experience(s) may not be typical of the average Android user. Your results will vary.
1) Download stock ICS ROM - the last update before JB hit our phones.
2) Download stock JB ROM - the latest update that hit our phones.
3) Unzip both files to your desktop or folder of your choice.
4) Copy the file gpt_main0.bin from JB over to ICS. Yes, you will replace it.
5) Edit the XML file on the ICS build and remove all instances of 'getvar'
6) Open up RSD Lite, navigate to the XML file of your ICS build
7) Reboot your Atrix HD to install ICS
At one point the phone booted back into safe mode after ICS was installed but after I shut off and restarted I was all set. I'm running ICS and I'm now connected to my lapdock full screen with overscan.

Is it a manual process? Yes. But I wouldn't say it is a lot more involved as it is a bit misleading. You don't have to code, you don't have to boot innto Linux on a live distro or anything like that. You just move some files over manually.
Myth Tools will do the job easier. You should try it.
But,thanks for sharing your method.

No. If your unlocked there's much easier ways.
