You don't have to unroot in order to update to 2.3.4.

Hello, I dough I can do very much at this point then ask for help.
Yesterday I used LG KDZ tool to install update to my Wind Mobile LG Optimus x2 which is P999. With the help of KDZ I got the T-Mobile update to 2.3 on it and honestly I hate T-Mobile update it just sucks so much.
I did some reading around and try to flash the ROM and some how put on a backup that was also posted here on the forums of stock Wind Mobile LG Optimus ROM.
The problem is I never rooted it while it was at 2.2 and at 2.3, I can't root it with one click rooter it just does not work I gets to Step #7 and you get device rooted but its actually is not so I can't restore to the backup I download from XDA.
I honestly would like something similar to stock 2.2 that comes with WIND LG so if you can help out to either restore it to stock ROM or in some way move it from T-Mobile update back to 2.2 without the T-Mobile preloaded and other T-Mobile blobware crap that comes with it.
Hello!
Did you try this...

Hi,
This weekend I flashed my phone to the latest official GB ROM that came out here in The Netherlands (V20m). Now when I run the updater it syays there is a update for my phone. When I try to update it says:
"software update is not supported for this model"
What could be the reason, anyone a guess?
I think the tool needs some rest, as it worked to hard from flashing all the LG updates
I'm also experiencing this and would like to know if it's normal or not... Because, what if ICS came out next year and I'm unable to update my phone because of this! Haha!!!
Have you rooted your phone? Cause mine is rooted already when I tried this.
Don't know though if this has something to do with the update tool from LG... Because when I updated my phone from Froyo to Gingerbread, my phone was already rooted and the updater seems to work fine. I was able to update my phone from Froyo to Gingerbread without any problem.
No my phone is not rooted right now.

Hello!
I would say it is just the (sorry) crappy LG Updater - it just means there is no newer update.
Will ota work with rooted phone, for minor updates i mean

As long as it can start the LG recovery/flash software it is not a problem. If you flash CWM it does not work anymore as far as I know.
Hi, i would like to return my phone to LG for service. Can someone teach me on how to unroot and flash the stock rom so that LG will not notice i have rooted my phone before?
Head over to the MoDaCo site and look for a thread entitled "NVflash stock ROM release..." in the O2X section...

Either 10b with nvFlasch: http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...k-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
Or newest with Smartflash: http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/lg_op...us_speed_p990_original_firmware_provider.html
Dear All brother
I just want to flash back to stock rom and unroot my P970 like initial status. Is there any tools or method to do so?
It's very simple, just follow the Tutorial: LG P970 (P970H) unbrick/flash using SmartFlash Tool and install whatever version of firmware you had initially, you can find V10 firmwares on the Firmwares LG P970, P970H thread.
If you want to get to the official V20 firmware, just upgrade your phone using the LG program (the one that came on the CD with your phone).
This way you'll have an "official ROM" on your phone and it won't be rooted either (it's just like it came "from factory").
Btw, you'll loose the root and the recovery functionality, but i think that's what you wanted in the first place
EDIT : replaced Samsung with LG, i was reading up on modifying my Samsung Spica and somehow mixed up the postings

Hey guys,
I currently have GB operating system. I want to root my LG Optimus Black. I was wondering if I could upgrade my OS to ICS after rooting my device. LG will soon announce ICS for Optimus Black. Will I be able to upgrade my OS?
yep
Are you sure?
Hey buddy, very thnx for your answer but just confirming........ ARE YOU SURE? This is my first smartphone and I really want to upgrade to ICS.
yes i am sure with this phone, no locked bootloader etc.
you can return its original always.
Unless you have inside news from LG or know something the rest of this community doesn't, I wouldn't wait for official LG ISC (or any ics) too soon
Make sure you do a nandroid backup of your stock ROM using recovery, and everything will be good
no need this. there are bin and fls files of stock roms and they can be flashed with smart flash tool.
dont afraid friend. only root your device and relax
