RFDC chips - Off-topic

Is it possible for the android phones to pick up on the rfdc freq chips? I heard there was a virus going around the market that once installed would read the chips and send that info to hackers.
Anyone have anything on this?

Market not showing all HD games?

I have the new leaked market. Is anyone else having problems seeing all games, for example gamelofts new game Green Farm... even the website version says these simple games are not compatible but the Thunderbolt is...

I still have the standard market, and and only 7 Gameloft titles show up, and they don't the Green Farm. It may very well be that Gameloft has, once again, decided to start yanking their titles from the market for whatever reason. Honestly, that's the reason I haven't purchased a game from them... Plus I hear their support is pretty awful. It may not be your market, it may just be them... Btw, did you get the new market via OTA or a leaked apk?
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA Premium App
Its not gameloft its the droid 3, I had a friend on a shift search right after me and both gameloft games I wanted showed up.
Leaked apk didn't know there was an ota out now

I have a Droid 3 and an iPod 4. The iOS versions are a LOT better performing, a lot cheaper and can be ported to other Apple device by the owner.
Gameloft's half hearted effort should be rewarded with no sales. At least until they publish in the market- just like they do for iTunes.
Could be due to the fact that it's not a Tegra 2 device. Most the HD games I've seen are advertised as optimized for the Tegra 2 processor. The Droid 3 is the first dual core device that isn't running on a Tegra 2 soc.

Not true, HTC/Sammy don't use no Tegra2, haven't you heard of the SGSII or Sensation or EVO 3D? The SGSII has a MALI/Exynos and the sensation uses the Dual SnapDraon with the Adreno[AMD] GPU. The reason some games aren't showing is due to something else, most likely the build.prop used in the Droid 3...My phone w/ the new market sees these games:
modern combat 2
asphalt adrenaline
order of chaos
gt racing
nova 2
green farm
platinum sol 3
My phone is a single core with a Snapdragon/Android205 and it can see these games, I don't know if your phone has 2.3.3+ which may or not be a req for those games. Excuse me, if I was a tad disorganized in my post.
You see green farm and gt racing on your droid 3?

I think you skimmed through my post? I have a MT4G, I was explaing a possibility for why the game wasn't showing for the Droid3, it's most likely the market thinks the app isn't compatible, with your Droid3.
https://market.android.com/apps/GAME
Go to that link, but log into Google account, find this farm game or whatever, and install it to the phone that you want it to go to, you should get a message that it's not compatible, due to something in the ROM you're using or the game doesn't support the D3 yet.
Yeah I did lol. Reason it is saying incompatible is because its made for tegra2 processors and the D3 sports an Omap processor

Look at this
It’s your farm; make it any way you want!
Available for:
HTC Incredible 2
HTC Desire (Bravo)
HTC Desire HD (Ace)
HTC Desire S
HTC Desire Z (G2, Vision)
Those are phones with Single-cores Qualcomm that are weaker than D3's OMAP...The game doesn't feature D3 support for now or any of the motorola devices yet.

I know so lame these single core processors can run more than us

So that's why I can't find Sprinkle (http://www.droid-life.com/2011/08/2...-will-have-kal-el-support-in-the-near-future/)
Thought it was Tegra2.
B-)
Yup lol. Also just tested chainfire from market that allows rooted devices to be used as Tegra2 even when its not. Still didn't work for gamelofts game Backstab HD when testing

Does work for the well known game sprinkle though!

Google wallet

Well it looks like they have figured out a way to get google wallet working
on the nexus s. Anybody think there's a way to get google wallet on our vibrants?
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
we dont have a nfc chip...
Oh, well I guess that answers that. Thanks for the quick response
The sgs2 has a chip if you want to use it.
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
NFC support might be able to be hacked on.
We might be able to use the new SGS2 batteries which have an NFC chip in the battery itself (thought I'm not sure if the connection is internal or via BT.) If that fails there are NFC chips that are stickers that can be attached to the backplates of phones that communicate via Bluetooth that will probably work for us and other phones.
see this news item here
http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile...droid-phones-google-wallet-friendly-20110527/
Although there's a more recent news item that indicates the stickers have some limits vs phone version: http://www.slashgear.com/google-wallet-worries-nfc-stickers-mia-20181114/
Just because we don't have it doesn't mean it won't ever happen, Vibrant FFC mod is a good example.
Also between QR codes/GPS based checkins etc, do you really need NFC? I pay pretty fast using a starbucks card app as is....
Thanks for the info guys.

Is there any way to.increase on board ram

Hello
My query is slightly weird
I would like to if it is possible to increase on board ram on o2x to 1gb by opening up the phone and replacing the ram
I presume it is not that easy but could give a new life to o2x
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
No sorry, you cannot do that.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
I believe there is a thread about upgrading RAM in the "Upgrading Unlocking and Modifiying" in either the android or general forums (please don't scream at me if I'm wrong).
Last time I went in that thread I think it was said that it was "theoretically " possible but it has yet to be done.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
Tegra is a SoC, which means the RAM is built into the chip. You would have to solder out the chip and put one with more RAM into there. And I guess you would also have driver problems.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
Hello,
I understand the soc stuff and that i need to solder memory but why there would be driver issues
Is it not like use what is there
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
Just forget it.
If the RAM is on the SoC, you can not upgrade that SoC, you would need a new one.
And there is probably no SoC, that uses the same pin layout and such.
The drivers are built into the kernel, so you would need to built your own kernel - just in case you have any drivers.
Look at the ICS thread ... we are still waiting for these drivers to get CM9/10 working.

wow.. Look at this guys!

come on sammy!! http://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-gaming-benchmarks-250692/
Dang nabbits, Samsung. Let's just give iSheep another ridiculous reason to believe iPhones are better.
No big deal.....in the grand scheme of things, benchmarks don't mean jack s*#t anyway.

It's kinda shady, but it's not THAT much of an overclock. Still, giving your opponents ammo is never a good idea.

Lol. Personally I find the article ridiculous. The GPU is capable of 533 so why would they not bench it at that speed. Just because they have it clocked down right now doesn't mean anything. They could put out an update tomorrow to let it loose. The purpose of a benchmark is to show what the hardware is capable of so...
Plus who goes by benchmarks anyway? Play a game on the S4 and other devices. Which one do you prefer? I know what mine is
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Craw I agree. Benchmarks only only useful to show off.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Yeah, I don't really care about benchmarking phones anymore. After so many iterations of phones we have now, everyone knows what they are getting into with each different brand.
I'm also sick of mainstream tech reviewers running Quadrant on Nexus devices (particularly the N4) and then saying that the phone is less powerful because the score is so much lower than similar devices with OEM skins, as though Quadrant is the final word in a phone's performance.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
Nothing shady going on here. The phone is not allowing the CPU/GPU to run full speed for games because they typically run for long periods of time and can over heat and drain battery faster. Many phones do this. Only certain apps get to run at full speed.

Is dual core an obselete spec for phones????

I always love my note but here the prob is not the phone specs. But the apps thats are getting bigger and bigger day by day. Just like PC times. Just because of that now some basic apps that are with me since the start if this phone are slowing down my phone.
I think there should be a basic version of all apps and then the fancy version.
Facebook, viber and other apps are now taking like 80 mb each. Where as they were just about 8 to 10 mbs in ginger bread. I guess its time for me to put this note in my drawer and get a nee device.

You're still around here? *butt-clench*
What you are stating is a lack of RAM not processing power... And no nowadays there is still not that much wrong with a dual core. Android just isn't properly optimized to use all of its cores at the same time > that doesn't mean that it doesn't use all of its cores when it needs to to be powerful enough. But that means that, for example, when the load is 50% it is better for both cores to run on ~25% then one to be inactive and the other on 50%. Of course the single threaded performance of newer cores (A53 etc.) has increased, but that wasn't question
Phones are just like laptops, only more power constraint...
I know this case. Android closes apps with OOM and Memory Killer (something like that). Some apps could use to stay longer resident in the ram. The dificulty is that, for example, you could leave comfortably 10 tabs open in the browser, but if they use CPU power (even above 0.1%), the os will close the entire app. So no matter how much ram or cpu power you have, the power management will kick in?
We need a new kind of battery technology. Phones that don't need to recharge a whole month.

It might be your data partition filling up. 30% free space seems to be the minimum needed for speedy reads and writes. I used this method to increase the data partition to 6g.
