[Q] Gingerbread Mms.apk to Froyo - LG Thrill 4G

Hey guys,
I really like the Xperia Conversation.apk in Gingerbread, and I would like to port it to my Thrill.
Replacing the app with Mms.apk doesnt work, I already tried it, and obviously Froyo doesnt recognize it.
Any ideas?

You gotta decompile and recompile it and resign it im using the arc launcher right now
Thrill 4g on O3D

Thanks!
I dont know how to do that lol is there any guide for doing that?
I know there is the APKTool, however it just decompiles and recompiles, I am not sure how to change OS version! Do I have to put the 2.2 Frameworkres.apk instead of the 2.3?

The apktool will do it there is a guide out there for it google apktool how to
Thrill 4g on O3D

I have read the tutorials, however, I havent found any on downgrading OS versions!
As I understand, the APIs are different, and I would have to change the code, but I am not sure where do I state the OS version I am working on, or how can I do that!

How do I port an application from 1 rom to another

Hi bit of a beginners questions but how do a port an application from one rom to another.
A am currently running MicroMod's 2.5 Rom but the FM radio isn't as good as the one on Cyanogen so I thought I would install it on Micromods rom.
This is what I tried, open up the nighlty build of NC rom, went to system/apps and copied the fm.apk to my sdcard. Then I installed it using Astro in Micromods but when I try to use it I get force closes.
I suspect it different or missing ddls files but unsure were to look to find this out.
Any ideas
Im pretty sure the fm.apk is linked to the CM6 framework so it would only work on CM6 atm...
I would also like to know the best way to do try to do this in general. Ive always wanted to put the browser from cm into an enom rom but the same thing happens as op said and it just fc's. If I were to use root explorer or 7zip to unzip the apk is there a specific place to look to see what other files need to be where in order for the apk to function properly?
it's pretty complicated which is why people tend to avoid it. You basically need to copy the right sections of Cyanogen's framework code into MicroMod's framework.. and since I believe MicroMod's ROM is based on HTC, that would involve some disassembly (look into smali/baksmali), but that would require some knowledge of assembly language.
It's a LOT of work, and a lot of testing (and swearing.. haha). Hate to discourage you.. but if anyone knows of a better (and more feasible) way I would love to hear it
I honestly doubt it's possible. CyanogenMod uses the MIUI method for the FM radio, which is most likely completely different than HTC's proprietary method. Kwazi is right though, it lies deep within the framework.

Attn: Dev's - Porting your ROM to the D2 made easy

OK guys I am posting the files I needed to port my 2.3.340 based ROM, GummyJAR, to the D2..
This should work for any 320/340 DX ROM really.
Now with my ROM I also had to include the AOSP keyboard as the Gingerbread one doesn't work right on the D2.. Also make sure to to redue your build.prop edits as this update comes with a build.prop
Here is an update.zip with all the needed files
Please if you like my work donate as I would like to buy other phones to build other ROMS
Tried it on a few different roms. Camera and video camera, the things I couldnt get working, work Physical keyboard, the one thing I did figure out, does not. Easy fix though. Your awesome Kejar!!
**I updated your update.zip to fix keyboard. It works 100% on the 3 roms ive tested it on. Can I post it or do you want to post it?
Go ahead and post it

That would be a tad harder since you'll need more proprietary files. It is so easy for these devices because they have very similar hardware.

[Q] metamorph for n1 2.3.3?

hi guys,
is there someone can point me to any MM theme for my n1 2.3.3? i want to change the battery icon, iam using latest miui-dev rom.
thanks
Does Meta morph still work on newer ROMs like 2.3? I'm not sure since I haven't tried it since cyan 6.
I believe it still works, however you will need to change the folder setup as a lot of the images are now stored in a different apk. I don't know if any are available anymore, so you may need to build your own. They are easy. I haven't used a morph since GB was released since 99% of the reason I was using anything was for a black status bar.

[Q] Slower Gallery 3D on Froyo

The Gallery3D (I mean the effects and the scrolling) is very fast on froyo stock roms.
In the V20 roms, it's smoother and slower.
How can I change the speed of the gallery? I've the Europe Open V10d.
that's because in froyo roms lg modified it. on the contrary in leaked GB roms there is the AOSP one.
try to install the froyo LG gallery in gb

Why that? I want a slower gallery on froyo. What can I do without installing GB? Or which (xml?) file do I have to edit in the LG Gallery?
If you're willing to invest a few minutes of your time, you can try to nandroid back up, then replace your existing gallery3d.apk with the one in FearKill's Froyo ROM. Fearkill used AOSP for his components.
And also, your thread might get moved. It shouldn't be here in the dev section. This should be under Q&A. Just sayin'
the AOSP gallery3d is on the market just ''gallery3d''
I only find a bad gallery, which is slow.
I decompiled the apk and now I only need to know, which file I have to edit.
Could a dev help me with that? I think, it's only one value in an xml file.

How to make costom rom for lg ob

i hope any developers out there can give steps to make roms ..........................
Well since you dont wanna program, I think the Xda Kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 should be good for you You can also simply unpack a Rom like Zeus, modify some things, repack, sign it (use search) and test it. Pls test your ROMs first, before you post them

Have you learn to read documentation? There's hundreds of them out there. We can't just explain it to you here, as they already documented/published out there. But AFAIK there's no specific docs for P970 devices, that's why you should use your brain of knowledge and your instinct to develop it...
hey N00BY0815 it says that LG Optimus Black (unconfirmed)
has any one tryed it before on lg ob
and yes thanks for replying fast
I tried it, but I wont work, since updater-script get changed and so the flashing procedure doesnt work. And I dont have time to try, since I will have a lot of tests, the following weeks... but after that, I'll try if I can make it
Just give it a try But for the first, start cooking, not deving, which is mainly about changing basic stuff, like taking redy's repack, add some build.prop tweaks, maybe fix some settings, ... Then repack and sign the zip. Test it if it works, and keep on refining Thats the easiest way i think
well i was thinking more like using our lg ob rom in virtual machine [vm ware software] or something...... i know it is a bit stupid thought.................. well atleast we will very carefull if we use that kinda method
