I'm getting the following error when trying to unlock the bootloader:
Unlocking Bootloader Failed!
Sorry it didn't work out. Here's why:
Required Resources
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 173.
Error Reason: Check Rule Fail with exception.
Anyone else getting this? Maybe it's just HTCDev site, I did see someone else in the HTC Rezound forum having the same issue today.

Hi!
i follow the guide to s-off the device in the htc site, driver and all is installed but fastboot stuck on waiting for device... anyone have this problem?
I thought the SXL didnt have S-off yet? possibly you tried S-off for the wrong phone..
no no I checked my version is unlockable! Type the command to extract the codes I still waiting on device ... What can be? 2 days that I feel!
What do you mean that your version is unlockable? I know some SXL phones come shipped with S-off, but when they come locked there is no way to unlock yet..
You sure you dont have the sensation XE?
He probably means his bootloader can be unlocked

Sorry i'm confused whit the root...(version can be rooted) but i think my bootlaoader is unlockable!! the problem is fastboot.exe that don't recognizes the phone!!
all fastboot command don't work (waiting for device error)
Make sure that you are booted into that bootloader thing, to get there: take out battery, restart phone + volume down, then when device is started into the bootloader and connected to USB you should be able to make the blue text go to fastboot with volume up/down. Then try unlocking again, it should work..
ok token extracted but when i press submit after i paste the token, received this error: Unlocking Bootloader Failed!

ok reset the phone and S-OFF!!
this two step are required???
1. You cant just flash a custom rom on this phone, firstly you will need the 'Chinese rom' which is here http://www.filefactory.com/file/c2ec...511_101713.zip and make sure it is on the SDcard part of your phones memory. Make sure it on the root of the SDcard because it will be easier to find later. Then you will need this rom RCMix3d Runny XL rom from here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56143145/RCM...ny_XL_v1.2.zip (thanks to benjamin.j.goodwin) and make sure that is on the SDcard too with the other rom
2. Then you will need to download this file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...7&postcount=18 it is the 'Chinese boot.img' and will need flashing from fastboot again. So put the phone in fastboot and extract the 'boot.img' from the 'boot.rar' file and put it in the fastboot folder on the PC. Open the command prompt again and type this... fastboot flash boot boot.img ... This should only need doing once if you're coming from a stock rom.
what is it for???
I dont know why, but it has to be done. It only has to be done once, after that you can happily flash whatever you want

Be sure to extract only the token itself when its in the window it will look something like this
1 3wt23f26t23fv3
2 352632ev316531
3 53215423626262
Make sure you copy and paste only the fat underscored part, do NOT copy the line numbers you get in front of it

You could try to unlock using the revone tool also used to get s-off. Haven't done it myself as by the time the tool became available I had already unlocked via HTCDev, but I read from several people around here who successfully unlocked their bootloader that way. Try searching in the Android Revolution HD thread

I tried to unlock with revone and i could not even get it to s-off..
Hi all, a little info first. I have a One bootloader unlocked, rooted, twrp installed and S-OFF. My wife just received a One from an insurance claim on an older phone. I am trying to unlock the bootloader and install twrp and all of that good stuff, but I keep getting unknown error when trying to execute the command. I have tried several times but keep getting the same error. Did AT&T block the unlock process at some point? Here is the basic info on the phone: hboot is 1.44 and the software number is 1.26.502.12. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which command?
Is the bootloader from May or later? If it's May, use revone to S-Off. If later, I'm pretty sure there are already many discussions about it, but you might be able to run an older RUU to downgrade and then revone.
It's highly likely you're not the first person to want to unlock your AT&T phone, the answer is gonna be here somewhere.
Thanks for the reply, the date in the bootloader is May, same as mine. I followed the youtube video from qbking, as I did to my phone. About S-OFF, won't the bootloader still be locked?
Revone includes an unlocking tool, read the OP of the revone thread.
-u is the unlock command I believe

To anybody that knows about these forums,
I have been trying to unlock the bootloader for the new HTC One from Verizon, I went to the HTcdev website, and I follow all the instructions step by step, I paste the code into the box, then it tells me some code error 160 mid not allowed, so now I have no clue what that means, I check out the websites and they all have similar instructions on unlocking the bootloader, but they all worked and none of them got the error 160 mid not allowed, I check out the error forums, and they are just as frustrating because they get detailed into what the reason in the code is, but considering that the need for the code to be all 1111 doesn't help when the phone won't even unlock through the htcdev site.
Has anyone else come up against this particular error and if so how was it resolved? Any help is greatly appreciated:fingers-crossed:

I think Verizon has blocked HTCdev from unlocking the bootloader.

Verizon has bootloader unlock from htc blocked. You need to find someone with a java card to give you s-off. Once you have s-off you can unlock bootloader and you pretty much have a brick proof phone. There are trusted people in the verizon htc forums you can send your phone to and they will s-off it for $25. Or you can buy a java card for yourself for $1000. I would go with plan A. This works for other carrier phones too whom have newer Hboot. I wish I had $1000 to float, because new phones will start shipping with new hboot and you could really make some money.
