After a long day at work, I was looking forward to coming home, kicking off my shoes, and relaxing in my massage recliner to watch some TV. That was the plan, anyway...
I fall into my recliner and kick off my right shoe, only to see (what seemed like slow motion), my shoe fly across the room and slam into the bottom left-hand corner of my recently purchased 52" Sharp Aquos Quattron LED LCD TV. See pic below...
My wife witnessed this epic fail, and has aptly nicknamed this blunder "shoe fly".
I'm still crying...

For those using Siyah Kernel with this method, please note that CWM recovery will be replaced by Siyah's recovery. As a result, any back ups that were originally created with CWM will not work using Siyah's recovery. (at least for me, they didnt). The restore process will complete, but your phone will get stuck on the boot screen.
The way I was able to remedy this, was to perform a full wipe, then perform a fresh install of your ROM, reboot, install CWM through ROM manager. Once that is complete, go back into CWM recovery and restore your original backup. Once that is finished, reboot your device and perforn the "remove triangle" fix, then reboot into Siyah's recovery and create a new back up. It's a bit of a process, but worth it if you prefer Siyah Kernel over Entropy Kernel.

Do not use Rom Manager it can really mess things up, I am glad your device still works but you have to read a bit more before you go doing crazy things.

I appreciate the response but I'm not a noob. I've been at this for years. I've always used ROM manager without a single issue. There was no mistake made on my part. I.posted that to provide assistance to the noobs who may get stuck in this situation.

This doesn't even begin to compare to the Shoe Fly blunder (that poor, poor piece of technology), but my most recent epic fail was a few days ago on my way home from work.
It was about 650am on a Saturday, roads virtually empty (I live in a small town), still dark outside. I was cruising along about 20 over the speed limit as usual and see a car pull out in my lane ahead of me. Not realizing it was a cop, I quickly switched lanes and flew past him. Needless to say, he immediately pulled me over.
The story has a happy ending though. Despite doing 58 in a 40 and not wearing a seat belt, he let me go without even giving me a warning. Turns out he was just getting off work too and didn't feel like writing any tickets.
Haha that's a win not a fail
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
The getting away with it was a win, yeah. Still felt pretty stupid passing by a cop that fast lol.

If that's a fail, please send some of your luck my way!!
Your story reminds me of the time I was sitting at a red light, when a bunch of hot girls in a convertible pulled up to the lane next to me. I was young and stupid at the time, (18) so I decided to "impress" those hotties by stepping on the brakes and spinning my tires. Smoke was everywhere; it was quite a show. What I didn't notice was the under cover cop right behind me. Needless to say, when the light turned green, he pulled me over. The cop was pissed because his car was filled with smoke from my tires. LMFAO. I got a pretty stiff fine for my little stunt. But that wasn't the epic fail. It was seeing those girls laughing at me, knowing that cop was behind me the entire time!! Pwned....

three days later in a parking lot i was waiting for a space to clear up, when finally a space next to an iron pole cleared out i started my way in
Then i hit the door against the iron pole, but just a little, so i decided to pull back but i was so distracted for what would they charge me i didnt realize the car wasnt still on reverse, i stepped on the gas a little to strong
Long story short, a 50$ scratch turned into a 2500$ wreck that i still owe

Perhaps not as nice as the Grado RS1 i used to own, but i had to sell those.*
I have a pair Of Senn HD595 just sitting in my drawer gathering dust too. A bit of a waste really.
* Another of life's ironies. (Or punishments). I sold the Grado's when i desperately needed cash for food. Took the money to pay into the Bank and crashed my car on the way. Car was a write off. Here is a YouTube video of a Nexus7 being delivered. I'm guessing his screen will have the lifting problem...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgenUR5e-ps
Unless the package has to be signed, I've seen this before. It's unfortunate, but I suppose in their defense, they've got no idea what's inside. :/
Still messed up bro, is the tablet okay? Nice video set up tho, are you using the Logitech system?
Yes, this is typical UPS. They remind me of the Samsonite commercial with the gorilla beating on the suitcase. I'm sure that Nexus 7 got thrown a lot more than once through its journey though UPS.

That's not a defence. They don't know what's inside, so they shouldn't be throwing anything. The guy should be heading down to the local depot, demanding to speak to the manager, and not leaving without a hefty goodwill and apology gesture.

Yep, I'd be contacting them immediately and show them the video. Ignorance is no excuse. No delivery company should be throwing packages. That kind of defense defies common sense, and is NOT UPS policy by any means.

Wow I would be flipping livid if that was my tab, thank god I have everything delivered to my office, the UPS guy has to come up the elevator and into my office and hand deliver it, also everything delivered to a business has to be signed for. But damn man that sux lucky ur tab is ok.
It could have been worse....
I found mine inside the screen door and propped on the step just outside the front door. I think they are required to get it to the front door and as the screen door on the front of my house is 3 to 2 feet from the main door he's already there at that point. Didn't change my lifted screen but I don't think bring thrown to the floor is a factor, at least in my case.

Wow who pissed that driver off. I've never seen that happen with my packages delivered. Most of the time I've seen them deliver they'll either put right in front of my door or even sometimes behind the table on our patio. Now fed ex on the other hand they're definitely worse. Our normal driver at my work has just dropped stuff next to our office door if we don't get the back receiving door in like a minute.
Wow...my ups Guy usually hides everything under the doormat, so I know they're not just throwing things around.

My UPS guy is generally nice too.
However, as others have pointed out, the scary part is the one that we DON'T see, namely how many times our packages are thrown around and banged against who-knows-what during the journey from the shipper to us. Who has ever received a perfectly pristine box that looked like it was actually carefully handled?

OT:
I would agree with you strongly on this. Back in the years my pops would only get me something he felt was "worth it" for my age. If I had asked him for anything over $100 it was a strong NO until I came to realize it's value/worth. If not for that I wouldn't be looking after all my gadgets like they were diamonds.
Pops can fork over $200 more for a new N7 but it's useless if you aren't a developer. I would agree if you had an 8GB, it broke, but you're a developer and daddy got you a brand new one because it was worth it, not for Angry Birds in HD. But wow, this is outrageous. if daddy forks it over way too fast, then you'll never look after your things. Ever. If anything, you might aswell learn/do something with your tab, You're like what? 13+ by the sound of your voice. You're young, do something with all those gadget's you have marked under your signature and maybe daddy's Amex would be worth it.

Well, In all honestly, I didn't see the need for this thread, You may call it bashing but I call it bulk. If you're getting it replaced, and the older tab is covered under the insurance why the need for this thread?, If you're asking for help, the best you'll get are links you can get the parts separately or stuff you could probably Google it yourself. Why not get that repaired elsewhere and enjoy the new 16GB, In the end you'll have 2 tabs and one which won't become and expensive paperweight. You can't sell that tab because Nexus are known for their no on screen buttons, and whats the use if the digitizer/glass is cracked and all you can do is turn it on to show the pretty wallpaper.
If anything I'm not mad here, Just find it insane that you made this thread to tell us "Daddy's replacing it with a new 16GB with his Amex" well, good for you kiddo.
I see people all the time making videos about their broken tabs and phones so I decided to do it to. My dad isn't even going to have to pay for the new Nexus. He is getting it with the insurance money. Also, about my other phones and stuff, I bought then with my own money for big discounts from friends and stuff like that. I don't even have a PC or Laptop. I had a choice between the N7 and a PC/laptop. I got the N7 because I like playing with ROMs and stuff. Also, I knew I could make some vids on the Nexus. Last thing, the Nexus 7 only costs 200$ and a good PC/Laptop costs over 700$. I'm not asking for help, I was just saying that it broke. The reason I am getting it replaced is because t wasn't me who broke it. If I broke it, I wouldn't be getting a new one.

Well that wasn't a smart choice, How do you expect to "learn" about ROM's or developing in general when infact 99% of all that requires a PC, if anything your own personal storage that people won't erase because your stuff makes no sense to the non techy's---buddy, joining a group on ROM building/development with a tab is like joining a bodybuilding competition with flabs.

Never leave anything of value in sight of an oppertunistic thief, who happens to take a glance inside your motor, as he moseys down the street.
In your case this does not seem to have worked.
Instead leave the back seat a total tip of useless crap. Old newspapers, empty candy wrappers and soft drink cans. He will think you are an utter slob, therefore having nothing of worth, and instead move on down to the nice neat and tidy car in front.

I didn't notice it missing until I went to my second job and went to hide it (which I normally do). I didn't hide it at the dealership because I was only planning on being there 20 minutes that turned into 2 hours.
I looked everywhere, being in denial, but I distinctly remember putting it in my car because it was raining and I had to conceal it while I ran out to my car.
Kinda sucks. Not only because I'll have to buy another one (I just bought one from Walmart so I can exchange it when the 32gb comes out), but also because I had a $20 case on it and an SGP Matte SP. I blame the iPad Mini. Thats probably what they thought it was!
I know there are plenty of threads about Anti-theft stuff but I'm kinda in a rush to push something to it from the play store. Ceribus or something rings a bell. Any suggestions?
I just installed Cerebus but I don't think it'll work without prior setup. I downloaded Plan B but I'm not sure it'll work either because it mentions it will only try to locate within the first 10 minutes.
Unfortunately I don't think there's anything that will provide any security without prior setup. Everything I've seen needs to be configured.
Lookout plan b... its on the market. You can push it to your device from the market website

Yea I pushed Plan B. It went missing some time between 3:30pm and 5:30pm. I noticed it gone about 6pm. After driving back to my office to check my desk, back home, walmart, and home, it is now 11pm.
If I'd stolen a device, it would have been factory defaulted the instance I had a second to do it.
I'm in pretty good with the staff at the Dealership. My gf also works for the same group (different property though). She said they have security cameras all over. I'll get them to look at the tapes and see who it was.
Feel sorry about your loss. I don't think any security app help it, it's useless IMO. If the thief is smart enough, he/she will disable gps and wifi. So there is nothing you can do about it.
First thing i did on mine was installing cerberus. You can never be sure.

Fortunately a lot of idiots aren't bright enough to wipe/reset the device. Just ask that idiot Horizon Air flight attendant

Not to mention that if you unlock and root your device you can install Cerberus as a system app so even if they do a factory reset Cerberus is still installed and active so you can track it. In this case only the thief smart enough to actually flash it with a new ROM will be free and clear. I don't remember how much it cost...I think like $1-2 was it, so even if it only gives you a 10% change of recovery...isn't that worth a couple bucks?
Dang. I know exactly how you feel. Hang in there; it may yet re-surface. I realize the almost hopeless optimism in saying that, but I`ve had my faith in humanity restored several times when losing stuff in the past. Let us know what happens! ps: Make Cerberus the first app you install with the new tab (or the old one, if/when it`s returned). good luck!
I talked to the big guy at the dealership and he told me they have security cameras there, so Monday they are going to look at them. Should be easy considering I was there for work and have my exact time there down to 2 hours.
Although I'm not sure what knowing who did it would do for me unless it was an employee... which they could fire them... but it was probably a hobo or a customer. Perhaps then one of the sales guys may know of them and hopefully has their address or something.
I haven't had any emails from those security apps that I tried...
I was thinking after I bought my new one that no only am I out the tablet but the $20 case and $20 SGP SP. So almost $300.
My mother-in-law suggested to claim it on my homeowners insurance because I had a tree fall on my home and I already paid my deductible for the year (which might be per incident). I have yet to call them yet. Probably do that Monday too.

Not sure if its related but look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33357157
Must be an incredible coincidence if that isn't yours (same place, both recent, etc).

Yea I dunno. Sounds exactly like my situation. Wtf. Pretty ballsy to come here and openly say you stole it.
He says he's joking but what kind of joke has that many details in coincidence?! Dealership, same day, unlocked car, laying there in the seat, my tools.
Well the ****s on camera mofo! Its a car dealership and we're going through the cameras Monday and getting the police involved.
Dude should do the right thing and return it.

The only way he was joking is if he was deliberately poking fun at me... which is pretty sick.
I sent the mod and him a PM.
