[Q] Can Navizon software run on the HD7? - HD7 General

Can an application called Navizon which runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 be 'ported' or modified by someone here to run on WP7? (on HTC HD7)
Here's a link that explains what Navizon does: http://www.navizon.com/navizon_rewards.asp
The Navizon app allows you to make money by mapping GPS towers and APs while you drive. I really miss Navizon! I used to make $20 to $40 a week running the app, which doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty much free money since all you have to do is run the app while you drive.
(navizon has another app that does run on WP7 but it is not the one that you can make money with)
If it's possible to run it on the HD7, would it be a big project or a simple thing to do? I would be willing to donate to this effort of course!
Please, could someone let me know if Navizon can be modified to work on the HD7? I'll be waiting with my fingers crossed!
Thank you in advance,

Iphone.. (still use my tytn 2)

Guys..!! Tonight Im gonna buy my Iphone! Just to know what the hype is all about! I got a tytn 2 now but im so angry at HTC...! So..What I wanted to know, who has the Iphone? And what do you think about it?
*ps did you allready flashed version 1.1.3?
i've messed with one a m8 got one from us still locked though
played a bit of snes was pretty cool
iphone is cool just limited
once you buy an iphone, and when you become used to with it, you will feel stupid about yourself for wasting money on WM devices. But you have to get used to with it. You may not like it in first use.
it all comes down to requirements
if one need gps, 3g, video calls or a larger 3th party program amounts
iphone may not be for you
but as a media device, phone and browser device it's all good
though guess a phonepad t9 input options would make the transistion easier for
avarage mobile switchers
I currently use an htc touch and would love to try the iphone but my main concern is exchange sync..i now use mail2web for my email service so i would like to know if there are any third party solution for exchange syncing.

How to start developing for HTC TP

Hi guys!
I have some app ideas that I'd like to create for Tourch Pro. What do I need to get started?
There is probably some SDK from MS, right? But am I right in assuming that I need to buy a license of Visual Studio 2008 pro or something? (Which makes this too costly to start a hobby... )
If there is a free way to get started, there must be some libraries for the G-sensor, GPS and all that. Or is there?
Ps. I'm really kind of confused and contrasting this mess with Apples offering - iPhone SDK seems to be all free and nicely available... no wonder there is lots of apps for it and much less (free) apps for WinMo. Unless you guys can point me into right (free) direction...
there's many more freeware apps for winmo, but there are also a huge amount of commercial apps, which kinda suppresses the availability of the freeware ones.
afaik the express studios are also available for creating mobile apps, and these are free afaik.
the only reason the iphone sdk is available in the first place is because it was demanded for quite a long time before they even made it available.

I use this prg for couple of years now. It is complicated but when you make all adjustments to mach your needs is very stable and it can give all the information you ever need almost at the medical level. I have even a HRM band and a arm band for htc hd and is amassing. I didn`t find anything like it anywhere. It is very expensive but is wort all the money if you train regulately. I highly recommend this prg (I don`t work for them an I don`t have any commercial interest connected by them). the only thing what i don't like to that program is graphics, it is made for qvga screens and even if is working fine in WVGA it is ugly.
What he said. Pretty ugly, but excellent performance. I haven't found any other app to match it, or even to come anywgere close.
theres also so sporty pal
I tryed sportpal, but i find it kind of dif to understand the program :S
Just to add to the list of programs, even if it's not aimed at runners, it could be well used to keep track of your movements, it's a program called NoniGPSPlot.

Sportypal difficult it's very easy to use, click on start and start running
Just wondering if there are any other apps out there, specifically apps that upload to the web your progress, example: Nokia Sports Tracker and RunKepper for iPhone
I'm with Sportypal on my phone, i just came back from skiing, it worked great, also have been using the running and cycling mode.
The option for goal is nice and on some versions there is even voice feedback.

Pocket Fritz 4

Hello there,
this may be a little off-beat, but does anyone know if you can install and use pocket fritz 4 (or another top program, like shredder) on the Hero?
I have no idea!!
FRITZ?
...i wish i could take FRITZ with me wherever i went...although the only FRITZ i know of is the Gentlemens club down the street haha.
...sorry couldnt help
Hahaha got me there. I could have been a little more specific. There's more info on the program here:
Link
It says on the page: System Requirements: Pocket PCs or mobile phones with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5, 6.1, 6.0, 5.0 or Windows Mobile 2003 with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Touch screen. For installation: Windows PC with DVD drive. For activation: internet access (from the device or through your Windows PC).
So I guess you really need a windows mobile? Thats a big bummer! Is there a way to get a .cab working on a android-phone (thats not too complicated, so even a noob like me understands?)
Why wold you want that. The graphics are not that good. I have a Windows Mobile HTC Touch Diamond, that runs the NEXUS ONE Android(2.1)(the live wallpapers version) and on the A. Market there are a lot of chess apps that have a good user interface. But I was just giving you an idea.

Hiya!
Yup, I know there are some other chessprograms, but if you want to analyse a game on the go, I don't think there are much alternatives. Pocket Fritz is simply the best, and maybe even the only one that can analyse a position
the best
hi all ,
yes ! of course pocket fritz 4 is the best and ultimate, and hero of chess in ppc land !
with an elo perfomance near 2938! super grand master ! this means it playse and analaises
more powerful than Gary kasparov !
only for that ,I have stuckked with
windows mobie yet !
Shredder Chess recently released an Android version of the Shredder application. While I don't think it's quite as powerful as Fritz, it does offer you game analysis at a pretty strong level on your Android. It's EU5.99, so about 7 or 8 dollars, which isn't too bad. I've paid for it and it's a very high quality application.

Still missing in mango!

Well we all are having few difficulties and wish list for after mango.
So if we add them here again in one place then DFT people can actually know whats the best thing people need badly right now.
for me these few are missing badly:
1) a full features google maps.
2)skype (for godsake atleast an app? IM just sucks after mango!)
3)wireless keyboard( bluetooth )
4) connect my laptop and phone via ad hoc network
5)find on page in IE9.
6)flash ( i dont think its gonna come)
7)a full features android i know is gonna come soon after awesome work of DFT guys but yet a time frame can be much more helpful.
8)If there are a bunch of developers want to make some windows phone games then let me know i am thinking to heed in that direction.
9)connect phone via HDMI cable to any Television screen ( i am on HD7)
i want outlook offline sync like with winmo 6.5
I wish everybody would get off the "I want Android" crap! Go get an HD2 if you can't live without Android! Why did u buy a WP7 if u are just an Android fanboy?
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

hummm let me tell you why.
On the hardware part HD2 AND HD7 are similar but still there are some features and a kickass stand which makes HD7 a better choice.
WP7 is damn good but at the end its a new OS so it still lacks some of the basic features like skype and flash which are easily available in android.
so if you have the freedom to dual boot it the WP7 can work as primary and whenever you are going to get some things off the shelf you can switch to Android.
Build quality of HD2 is not upto the mark compared to the HD7.
So tell me one reason why android should not be there in a WP7 phone?

Android should not be on a WP7 phone as its a windows phone, if you want an android phone, just go and buy one, get a case with a kick stand on it and jobs done.
on another not, the google maps thing you mentioned, thats not down to microsoft, thats down to google not providing it. once again you could just get an android phone and be done with it.
I got both and have both as each have advantages over each other. my sim is generally in my android at the moment as it seems more logical, i can tether it to my windows phone and play my xbl games and download music and do what i want with my windows phone. and for the rare instances that i actually make a phone call, use my android handset.
oh and build quality, much better on hd2, made out of metal body rather than plastic, and better buttons too. not that the hd7 isnt bad but the hd2 was one of the best ive seen for a long time

to my knowledge you are using an HD2 with android build.
You are against porting android on a WP7 phone but at the end you are using android on a windows mobile.
if you wanted android why did you buy HD2 in the first place?
i think now you get my point that its always better to have choices.
See i dint start this thread for this android battle as i mentioned i started so that DFT guys know whats hot and they can work on that in the first place in their custom ROMs.
So if you want me to say android shouldnt be there OK YOU WIN!! but atleast stick to the topic.

Since when are skype/flash support basic features of any phone?
whats the point of a smartphone if it cannot give me one complete on the Go web experience?
For current scenario Flash atleast for next few years is necessary for uninterrupted web experience.
and skype is ofcourse gonna be a basic function!
you not discussing about the 10$ phones so obviously you CANNOT list calculator and making call as basic function!!
and seems one controversy ends and the other starts!
I mentioned earlier this thread was started with intention to help DFT team to help understand user needs not to fight.
if you still wanna go on then send me a message and we fight on it instead of here.

1] They seem to have made serious improvements on the Bing Maps so hopefully it will improve more and more once they integrate it with Nokia Maps or so I have heard.
2] Skype is definitely coming to WP7
Facebook built in Chat in Messaging App is super brilliant and so is local scout.
To be honest I can't decide whether to use my HD7 or SGS2 .. I seem to keep flipin between them all the time.
The only reason I favour the SGS2 is cause of the better camera and googleplus and of course the apps
Other not sure But I for one will definitely getting a Nokia Phone, cause I am sure Nokia Phones will Rock

1. Once OVI Maps gets intergrated with Bing Maps you can keep Google Maps.
2. You do know that Microsoft owns Skype? Skype will be on Windows Phone. Oh, IM on mango is excellent.
3. What does this have to do with Mango?
4. In Mango, up to carrier to allow it.
5. Agreed and said to be coming.
6. HTML5 is the future. Screw flash.
7. again, what does this have to do with mango?
8. Plenty of good games on windows phone with more to come.
9. Will be a feature on some 2nd gen handsets.
'nuff said.
