[Q] Is there a way to add Chinese Input SGS I9000? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day,
I saw a thread here about adding chinese input method in SGS 2. Is that method applicable to SGS 1? Is there any step by step to add it? I pretty much prefer samsung's input method. I used to have it, but after rooting, I can't seem to get any roms with chinese input, I got SGS I9000 and running on the recent MIUI rom.
Thanks

Try Smart Keyboard Pro with Chinese for Smart Keyboard.

hand writing method?
Thanks Pandur2000 for the reply.
Follow up question, what if i would like hand writing mode of input, is there a way to add this feature?
thanks again.

A little search in the market or google would help you faster then us > Scut gPen > https://market.android.com/details?id=net.hciilab.android.cappuccino allows handwriting recognition of chinese characters.

Thanks again bro.
Ill search the market i thought that the input method is in the system thanks for educating me. learned many from you tough...

Motorola's Chinese IME for Donut+ (tested on CyanogenMod-4.2.14)

Here is a tutorial on getting Moto CIME on G1/Cyangenmod Donut roms:
http://tangskingdom.blogspot.com/2010/02/chinese-ime-on-cyanogenmod-and-donut.html
No force closes for me thus far!
-Enjoy :]
*I also posted this deep in a semi-old/not directly related thread in development, so here it is*
Thanks much... installs fine, only problem is it is very sensitive, and if you're not PERFECT with your handwriting, it won't recognize it. I had to try five times just to type the simple character 人.
IMO I find the sensitivity to be ideal, but of course its just my opinion I'm not sure if you can adjust it, i doubt it tho.
Thanks for this! Anybody knows how to enable this IME on Abdroid 2.2 (froyo AOSP), please? Thanks

[newbie] customize htc keyboard

is it possible to customize the htc keyboard ?
I like it a lot but I keep pressing the "settings" button.
Maybe it would be better to activate it with a long-press.
Then it would be useful to activate word predictions in all form you want to, not just where it detects a text-form.
is it possible some way ?
thanks
it certnainly is possible and you don't even need root. i know because i downloaded a custom keyboard from the Market named SerbianIME (i needed ščž characters).
thanks for the reply, but since I don't know how to do it I was asking here
thanks

chinese input and keyboard layout

hi, I just installed the chinese input method that I found on this forum (the ngn4_cht_ezinput) and I love it. However, I got a little problem. Since the input mehod comes from a diff device, it has different keyboard layout than my tilt 2. Is there anyway to get the tilt 2's own ATT keyboard layout with the input method? I want it so I can use my keypboard to type stuff.
thanks a lot guys

Try this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537291
thank you so much for the link.
I have already gotten the chinese input to work with the program I have previously download a working chinese input. However, my problem is not that I cannot input and view chinese but rather, I cannot use my included keyboard layout to type them due to the different layout that ATT uses on the Tilt 2. Anyone has any idea how can I use my keyboard to type them?
thanks a lot guys.
Try This! So far best for me.

Install from smaller to bigger file size. Including SIP, Ping Ying, Chinese Serch, Chinese Writing and recognize Chinese charators , work for me. Been using since WM6 till now. Now problem at all.
thank you so much for your feedback. I follow the instruction and installed it. It does let me type and read chinese but again, my ATT keyboard on the tilt 2 still is not working properly, ie the physical keys are not matching the onscreen keyboard layout.
Looks like it maybe impossible to use the physical keyboard with all of these other input methods that are not officially supported.

if you are using energy rom.. mayb u could try this:
quoted from Energyrom thread.
Carrier Provisioning: There are many different carriers, and some require different provisioning. If you are experiencing issues such as sending/receiving SMS/MMS, or your physical keyboard is not mapped corrected, you MAY need to provision for your carrier. For AT&T and T-Mobile, go to Start > Tools > Carrier Provisioning and select your carrier. For other carriers, go to Start > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks and either select from the drop down menus to edit or click on New to add a new one (you may need to contact your carrier to get the configuration information).
you can try 搜狗 input for wm

[Q] Vibrant without Android Keyboard...

So I have a Samsung Vibrant GT-i9000m from Bell Canada with the FFC. Some how I no long have the Android Keyboard in my list of input method's (long pres on text input field) or in settings -> Locale and Text -> Select Input Method -> Swype or Samsung Keypad (only). My phone is unlocked (i bought the unlock code form Bell directly) and I used the one click lag fix for rooting the phone. I'm unsure when I lost the Android keyboard but I know for a fact I never deleted or uninstalled it. I can only assume that the bell unlock code or the one click lag fix rooting app are the cause of the missing input method.
Does anyone know where I can download the Android Keyboard? I've searched a bit but Android Keyboard give a vast variety of results even on the app brain and market.
Many thanks in advance for any answers!
Swype or Samsung Keypad
that is correct
those are the default input methods, you can always install more if you want
like the HTC keyboard or the Moto Droid keyboard, or many other available out there
but of them all i prefer the swype keyboard better
I recall having a 3rd option "Android Keyboard". It has a mic icon in the bottom left corner i assume for speech to text. Kinda like the Iphones voice search that's what I'm looking for. Yes I strongly agree Swype is better but when I'm driving I wouldn't mind some speech to text or voice search.
I did find on forum.xda-developers .com under thread 709519 but its 114mb kinda big for a keyboard. (cant post URL)
I might be wrong and never seen the Android Keyboard option but I know I have seen screen shots of other peoples Vibrants with this 3rd option that I assumed was stock to android 2.1.
Even my google search widget doesn't have the mic icon for voice search.
vLingo it comes as part of the phone
you need to install it in Samsung Apps
it's free
it does voice control and voice dictation
needs some minor training, it can handle accents
OMG I had it all along and never tried the vLingo keyboard. Thanks so much! YOU DA MAN.

[Q] T9-Style Keypad

Hi
I've recently got myself a Motorola Razr i running Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and am very keen to find a really good T9-style alpha-numeric keypad because I can't get on with full size QWERTY keyboards on small devices.
I've looked at all the different options on Play but I have a question regarding the built-in keyboard options on this device/OS:
If I lock the phone with a PIN a really nice T9 keypad comes up to unlock the phone yet this is not available in other aspects of the OS such as messaging.
Does anyone know why this is, please, and is there any way to make it available elsewhere?
Thanks,
Paul

It's actually a basic number pad.
I too highly dislike (hate actually) qwerty boards and I can highly recommend the (EvenBetter)NumberPad which I'm sure you've seen on the Store.
It was the first app I bought on buying the phone nearly 12 months ago and works pretty flawlessly, although for whatever reason there has been no update to it since July 2012 and the developer hasn't replied to previous emails I've sent.. As you've probably gathered there's a dearth of T9 keyboards and although I've tried some of the freebie ones since nothing comes close IMO.
My unlock screen isn't just a basic number pad - it has letters on the keys too.
Thanks for your thoughts on the other offerings out there. I have indeed seen the EvenBetter product on Play but was reluctant to spend money on something that might not have been any better than the free ones out there. In what way(s) is this one so much better than the free ones?
Thanks again for your response.
Is your phone retail or network? Curious as to why my unlock screen is just a number pad (not that it matters).
I can’t give a definitive answer as to why I find NumberPad better than the others I played around with as it’s a good ten months since I tried them and my memory won’t stretch back that far!, so let me say what I find so good about it.
The UI is simple, straightforward, and with everything you need to access on one screen: predictive text, ABC mode, add to dictionary, punctuation, numbers, caps lock, space, return, delete. Everything is perfectly sized and intuitive, and the only reason you’ll need to switch to the stock keyboard - accessed by a single button press - is if you want to insert any special characters.
Without it I would never have moved to Android (I had experienced it beforehand on a friends handset) as I detest qwerty boards on a phone, and to me its priceless.
I got my handset from a 3 store and was expecting it to be locked to that network but this is not the case. The 'System version' detail in the 'About phone' section makes reference to 'retail' if that answers your question.
Thanks for the additional feedback on the EvenBetter keypad. You obviously think it's worth spending money on so I'll give it some serious consideration.
Free keyboard app Multiling will give you either qwert kb or t9. I use its qwert kb with Light theme which looks like iphone kb and reduce my mistyping when compared with other themes..
WinRazri,
Have you discovered something on built-in T9 keyboard? I got Swype preinstalled on my "I", and now i study to use it but anyway miss so much easy to use T9 i have had on my SonyEricsson LwW.
As an alternative T9 on Play market i found Smart Keyboard Pro, but you got to pay for it a little and dispite of all its advantages it's not a built-in app((
