make sure you are using the internal GPS.
settings > location and security > GPS soruce > use internal GPS
its not activated in a fresh install.
othwerwise its looking for a bluetooth mouse. for some awesome reason.
Sorry. never asked what rom your using. as the option i stated is not in every rom. - hopefully you have this option and its the cause of your problem
On the G2x forum there have been alot of these types of posts. Here's what works 100% for me: (prerequisite: have GPS status installed) lay.change GPS status and let it download the GPS aiding data>reboot>launch GPS status and let it get a lock>launch maps
Note: if you use this method and the GPS aiding data is less than a day old you can start at rebooting.
Disclaimer: This method works for me, if it doesn't work for you I can't give you an explanation.

No there isn't. Those programs which you talk about, and I think of which Bluetooth GPS is one such program, is merely Bluetooth GPS capable. In can talk to a Bluetooth GPS and display that information in that application only
There may even be tracking programs which can use Bluetooth. But there is no way, at the moment, to tell Android to ignore the inbuilt GPS and use an external Bluetooth GPS for the Location Manager service.
In other words, MyTracks, CardioTrainer, Sports Tracker, Google Maps etc, they can't be made to listen to a Bluetooth GPS.
Well, unless someone wants to rewrite libgps.so using Bluetooth GPS as inspiration.
If you wanted to go one further and decompile the current libgps.so so you could have the choice between inbuilt GPS and Bluetooth GPS, be my guest.

Thanks for the info but I'm not a programmer, so I'll keep my finger cross and wait for anyone to build it...

When i navigate it finds the gps great but it says "getting driving directions" and wont go past this, im running dj05 and 1212 test kernel from jt.
This should probably go in general.
sounds like it's trying to access the internet and can't.
Works fine for me.
Turn off your Wifi if it's on, make sure it launches a data connection. make sure it sees your position with less than 100 meter accuracy in maps before getting directions. If it doesn't, GPS isn't really working and it's going off cellular position etc.
I posted about this in general and didn't get anywhere. I have the exact same problem.
I tried reinstalling, changing kernels, changing dns, even uninstalling then loading a new rom, kernel, dns, and then installing. All with no luck.
It appears to not be able to use the data connection. I say this because just using maps i get up and down arrows on 3g but while "getting directions" neither arrow lights up.
Would love a solution as i love my navigation.

I had this same issue. Maps would work fine and I could get written driving directions but the navigate function would freeze at downloading directions. I wiped my system, installed a different rom, and it works fine now.
Edit: I did not restore maps with titanium, I downloaded it from the market after reinstall.

I own a galaxy sl. I have a problem regarding that its not showing me the paid apps in it... Yesterday it simply said "No matching content in android market".... Some time later the top paid tab completely dissapeared... So later I did a factory reset... Then today till just now the market worked fine but now its giving the content not found error again.. What maybe the problem?
(i had played around the gps settings in lbs test mode to get a better fix, if thats anyway related to market... Nd m using market on edge)

Try going into settings > applications > manage applications and clearing the data for Market as well as uninstalling the update. Then go to Google Services Framework (still in manage applications) and clear it's data as well.
Go back and reopen the market and see if that fixed anything.

Did that.... Had to reboot for market to run... Acceptwd the terms again nd the top paid tab completely disappeared... dunno what the problem is.....

Well, I got some help on it.... I installed market enabler nd changed the code to another provider, cleared market data and the market was back to normal... I could see the paid apps as per country spefic.... The only thing that I dont understand is thaT I got the working market after I factory reset the phone, my operator remaining same, but it stopped working gradually... I was using network data connection all the time, did not use wifi... Any ideas what the problem would be??

Noticed with the newest update of foursquare my GPS is broken. At first I thought it was a rom problem but later realized it was the app. So here is a website with all the previous versions. 12/21/11 works best for GPS lock. Just make sure to clear data and uninstall your current foursquare app, install and login then reboot. Your GPS won't lock right away sometimes unless u reboot after install.

Feel free to say thanks.

Not to be an ass, but the latest update FIXED this bug.
I also had the GPs bug, after an app update, but like two days ago they re-updated the app, fixing this
Before downgrading, check your market, it could be already fixed!
Thanks anyway, Greenlava7!
I was getting no GPS even with the new update . This fixed it.

The latest update screwed the gps for most of the phones on the market. This fixed my problem. Thx again!
Hi my gps won't lock on satellites using waze or igo... Anyone knows how I can fix that?

You could try top ntp from the play store. It worked for me on my i9001 with cm9.
Read the instructions&Good luck!
You could try faster fix app to change the ntp servers and something else, search for it. Also GPS Status or GPS Test app has an option to update your A-GPS data for a much faster fix.
