No there isn't. Those programs which you talk about, and I think of which Bluetooth GPS is one such program, is merely Bluetooth GPS capable. In can talk to a Bluetooth GPS and display that information in that application only
There may even be tracking programs which can use Bluetooth. But there is no way, at the moment, to tell Android to ignore the inbuilt GPS and use an external Bluetooth GPS for the Location Manager service.
In other words, MyTracks, CardioTrainer, Sports Tracker, Google Maps etc, they can't be made to listen to a Bluetooth GPS.
Well, unless someone wants to rewrite libgps.so using Bluetooth GPS as inspiration.
If you wanted to go one further and decompile the current libgps.so so you could have the choice between inbuilt GPS and Bluetooth GPS, be my guest.

Hi Guys,
I have Android 2.2 Nand with cotulua installed on my HD2, working perfectly,
never the less I am looking for a GPS app like Garmin (which I beleive is not yet available for Android, please correct me if I am wrong), I installed Aura Sygic as I somewhere read that it was free... although when starting the app the Aura downloader requested me to choose a map to download, as I am located in Colombia, there are no maps available for download there. so I searched for a sygic map for colombia and downloaded a zip folder, which I decompressed and tried to install the map with no success...
Can someone please recomend a Garmin like GPS app (if not garmin) that works on Android?
thanx in advance for your time
best
Try iGO My Way
Try Waze.
Its free on the market.
For me its working great.
navetel ++++
Do any of these require a data connection or can they be used 'offline'.
Copilot Works fine. Can be use without data connexion
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
iGO also doesn't need internet connection and works perfectly on HD2 Just need to download maps one time for the region you want to use

There is Navigon 2.6.1 available on android - you can download cracked app from various warez sites .Also there is Aura GPS available with full EU coverage
In both system all you need to do is
1.Download app, instal on your android - make sure you have allow other sources ticked in settings
2. Switch on WIFi and open up AUra downloader to download rest of files and required maps
3. Run it and enjoy
That's it
Works perfect
Unfortunaty I cant post links so anyone want a link just PM me
Thanks

Even if you could post links doing so to Warez sites is completely against XDA rules and the quickest way to get yourself revoked.
Thanks Dunc I did't know that - very usefull advice for future. I wouldn't post links to warez sites anyway but to normal file hosting servers such megaupload , rapidshare etc.I just said that there are links on these kind of sites to cracked apps
BTW: Just instaled Aura GPS on my HD2 running AND 2.2.1 Ultimate Droid
It is as smoth as Tom tom ! Much recomended to all people that are looking for great GPS for android !
Im now using copilot and its very good actually having come from tomtom its easy to use.
I can recommend Navigon Select 3.5.4 for Android.
Try AURA.

Maverick is pretty good, could be a bit more feature-rich, and more detailed maps, but not bad overall. Definitely worth trying.

Is this the Navigon that some ROMS can't handle for example the Gingerbread ROMS because of a broken .so file?
Thanks
Igo 8 for me definately, also quite a few skins for it too.
I use iGO and Navigon, it works great
hello,
i was woundering witch is the best navigation system for my phone.
I tried navigon but this app keeps crashing. Is there a free good working navigation app for my phone ?
I prfer no ineternet connection only gps
Tnx
I can't think of any free offline navigation program right now.
But I love Sygic.
Perhaps I think Google maps is the best, furthermore, nw Google maps support cached maps, you're able to load the maps and save it first for yr offline navigation
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
I have tried
Sygic (Aura) - still the best but better use with bluetooth gps if driving
Copilot - better accuracy but interface and controls are not so fun.
Waze - it is fun if you have lost of friends with smartphones around
Google Nav - is nice then you are walking (but not even comparable to Sygic as it is superb for visiting new places). Anyway I use google maps for informational purposes only.
Navigon - once tried but deleted very quickly - did not find its place between copilot and Sygic
Navfree - not worth even downloading
you could give Igo a shot.
Sygic wins, no need for external gps. I'm a delivery driver and use this on my phone all day, no problems. I use to get drop outs on Cyanogenmod.

There's a particular detail about this, in the Google blog:
"This download stores only the base map tiles and the landmarks on the map, so you still need a data connection to see satellite view and 3D buildings, search for Places and get directions."

Use Navigon MobileNavigator Europe v4.0.1, probably you have tried with version 4.0.0. For 4.0.1 you don't need internet connection or rooted phone.
On my DHD i have: Navigon 4.0.1, iGO MyWay v8.4.3.179971, Sygic GPS Navigation v11.2.5 and CoPilot Live Europe Full v 9.1.0.161 only for rooted phones and all works without a problem.
IGO working 100 % .
I am using both Sygic and iGo... both work perfect in my DHD.
In Malaysia the best would be Papago X8, got every details on even the most remote area here.

google navigation
I like navigon, got it free with my phone and brings me where I want to go!
I live in EU and before I rooted my DHD, I bought premium navigation which comes with phone. Travelled to Eastern Europe, London and Croatia (ex Yugoslavian country) and it guide me perfetcly. Thanks to this navigation which I still do not know the name of the application, and thanks to social networks, I drove directly to my internet's friend's house on numerous occasions.

I would ask you If anyone knows how is this stock HTC navigation called. Which firm is behind it? In App drawer it is called just "Locations."
So when I rooted my phone I stick to ROMs which are "derivates" to stock DHD roms. Like ARHD.
If anyone of you could tell me which navigation it is I would be immensely happy.
I recently upgraded to gb 2.3.4 but my gps doesnt seem to be working.. any help?

make sure you are using the internal GPS.
settings > location and security > GPS soruce > use internal GPS
its not activated in a fresh install.
othwerwise its looking for a bluetooth mouse. for some awesome reason.
Sorry. never asked what rom your using. as the option i stated is not in every rom. - hopefully you have this option and its the cause of your problem
On the G2x forum there have been alot of these types of posts. Here's what works 100% for me: (prerequisite: have GPS status installed) lay.change GPS status and let it download the GPS aiding data>reboot>launch GPS status and let it get a lock>launch maps
Note: if you use this method and the GPS aiding data is less than a day old you can start at rebooting.
Disclaimer: This method works for me, if it doesn't work for you I can't give you an explanation.

Hi my gps won't lock on satellites using waze or igo... Anyone knows how I can fix that?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
You could try top ntp from the play store. It worked for me on my i9001 with cm9.
Read the instructions&Good luck!
You could try faster fix app to change the ntp servers and something else, search for it. Also GPS Status or GPS Test app has an option to update your A-GPS data for a much faster fix.
All,
One question I am seeking the answer to is can one unlink Waze from AA? Google maps will allow one to run Google maps on the phone and if using a screen mirroring app (e.g. screen2auto, AA Mirror, etc) one can stay in screen mirror road and use Google maps.
Waze, however, refuses to launch on the phone if Android Auto is running. I would like to be able to run Waze on my phone and mirror the screen, so that I do not have to go back to Android auto to see directions if I am mirroring my screen.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Cheers,
B.D.
As far as I know, it is not possible to run two apps using the GPS in the same time. Take in account that even one of the navigation apps runs on AA (screen mirroring), this doesn't mean it is not using the same GPS sensor.

Uhi711,
I appreciate the response, but just to clarify, I am not asking about running two GPS app (though this is possible, as I have run magic earth and maps at the same time>. My question is specific if there is a way to run waze on the phone while connected to AA.
Hope this clarifies.
Cheers,
B.D.
Ok, I didn't understand exactly what you were asking.
I'm not sure that this will solve your problem, but it worth trying.
In AA settings (opened on phone), you have the option to choose what apps you want to be able to see on AA's apps screen (Customize launcher). Disable Waze and see what happens when you connect your phone to your car's infotainment system.

Not sure if this helps but I run Waze & Google maps at the same split screen each set to 2 different locations all the time. Never had any problems. [emoji2369]

uhi711,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, when I tried this, Waze launched but then FCed.

Hmmmm. Strange. I tried on my Pixel 3xl and Waze will launch and then FC itself. Google Maps will run on my phone Even if I run Google Maps on my car, or Waze is running on my car. I am on the latest version of AA and Waze.
Thanks for the suggestions and information.
Cheers,
B.D.
Figured it out. If Waze is running (From the head unit), then it will not permit Waze to run on the phone (as the output is already to the head unit). I thought I had exited the app and not had it launch in Android Auto.
To overcome this, I used KWGT to create a widget that when pressed will call a Tasker Task to kill waze. Then I could start waze on the phone (mirror screen) and even have it split screen with my music app.
Hope this helps somebody else.
Cheers,
B.D.
