Have you tried enabling usb debugging on the device?
I take it that it does charge right?

Yes i tried with usb debugging on/off and nothing, the cables charge the phone but doesn't get it to be detected
Not even detected in recovery? Have you tried recovery - mounts & storage - mount USB storage connected to PC?
Could be possible that the use port is broken or you need to change rom to get it working.
What rom are you on right now? If you are rooted, then use mobile odin to flash any stock rom. It also goes without saying that you will need a sd card in this case to transfer files on to the phone.

Install device drivers.
Go to Settings> Applications> Development> Enable USB mass storage/ USB debugging
When you plug into your computer, you will get a notification in the status bar. Click on that and then enable USB mass storage.

Are You sure Your USB port is fine ?
Try another one.
Your SGA doesn't work with USB cable only on StockLite V8 or it worked but not anymore?
If your phone isn't working with this only ROM then You should definitely try different.
If You want me to install StockLite on my SGA and tell You if it works fine, let me know.

I have tried connecting my SGA to 4 different computers and laptops that I have in the house , and have encountered the same problem . The USB connection did work in the past,, but I can't remember if that was before or after I flashed Stocklite V8 ROM. It is charging through the USB .
Yes I would like to try a different ROM ( any suggestions ?) and yes if you wouldn't mind installing Stocklite V8 on your SGA and let me know how it goes , I would really appreciate that .

Hi peteandroid70!
For connecting USB via CWM:
Enter CWM recovery pressing home+ power buttons, select mounts and storage, then select mount USB storage and finally connect with PC; for stopping this select unmount USB storage.
Though, if your drivers aren't right I don't know if this will work.
Good luck.
