the rom you flashed has nothing to do with kies mode because is not a samsung rom, on ICS you flashed kies does not exist.
Do you know if is there any rom that can do this?

not ICS for sure. If you want to use kies flash a gingerbread rom from samsung.
So, there's a way to copy back the contacts on kies' .sbu file into the phone???
UPDATE
I answer myself: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17648415#post17648415
Kies air
Download kies air from market it works
There is probably a way to get Kies to recognise the ICS rom if you are using the SGSII ICS rom that was ported to the SGS.
installing kies on a rooted phone
hi,You could download kies over air on your phone, but is there a reason you need kies,as you have rooted your phone...the only reason i used it before, was to update my SGS+...so if you could say why you want kies, there probably is an easier answer

Hi Guys,
I was recommended to you by a good friend of mine. I recently pyrchased a Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone, and i must say what a great phone, i had had it for a couple of days and want to root it it currently runs 2.1 eclair is it ? and was given a file to download that contains 2 files one telling you how to root and other with root file which is ( z4root.1.3.0.apk ) now ihave already conected usb cable and have done this so far -
Gone into applications and checked unknown sources box!
Then gone into development and checked the usb debugging box!
now where it tells me to put root file into memory card via usb ! now this is where we get stuck dont know how to put root file into memory card and it should go into into internal memory not external ??
just need help and advice on what to do next so i can root my mob and know that i am in the right place for this advice .
Thanking you all in advance.

You can use Z4root for rooting 2.1 & 2.2 only.
For rooting 2.2.1 and above you must need a computer. Re-install the USB drivers and check it again.
hi thanks for that mine is 2.1 so why is my mob showing up on lappy when i connect with usb cable ?
Why you're still on Eclair 2.1? Very Strange......
I'd say first update it to 2.2.1 of your region. There is a hell of performance/speed difference in 2.2.1 & 2.1.
Why do you want to root it?
i still dont know why my lappy not seeing my mob when connected to each other ?
You need to download samsung kies this will install the drivers for your laptop to recognise your device. If i were you I would not root at all incase anything happens to your device. Download kies, update your phone and then do A LOT of reading about root.

Yep kies can be downloaded from samsung website. Or google it which will get you to the direct samsung download website somehow. When you install Kies it will install the drivers, then you can connect your phone by USB to the PC.
Yes, on 2.1. it is a bit slow (what you describe as "freeze"). If you upgrade the firmware with Kies to 2.2.1 it will be faster so you really should do that.
Why not root a phone? That's easy to answer as all the guides say here in the forums:
you should only root if:
- you know what rooting is and what it's for
- if you actually really need root (most apps won't)
why should you not root:
- "it sounds like it's something I need but I have no idea why"
- rooting requires flashing (depending on ROM) and that can "bricK" your phone (one way or the other), forcing you to get a Jig (in one of the better results) or send it in for repair (in the very worst case ever)
- rooting a phone can potentially damage your phone (by user error or by malicious apps, just think of what that dude did to jailbreaked iphones in the Netherlands once).
I'm a total Linux noob but I claim to know the difference between a limited user account and a super user (as it is similar in Windows).
So I know I have access to the system files on the phone and I know I could mess up my whole phone and break it if I mess around with these files.
Personally, I did not root my phone until I really had needs for that (such as Titanium backup). As said, many apps won't even need root access.
Anyways, do what I did: start reading those guides, they might be long, some not so newbie friendly and there are quite too many duplicates (kind of) but they contain a lot that is good to know before trying some more advanced stuff. This really saved my phone on the very first flashing already! Do some selective reading.
Should you really have needs for rooting after all that reading and only want to root but no other changes (yet) I suggest using CF-Root by Chainfire as that is a stock kernel (part of a ROM), so basically it just adds root and that's it (needs to be flashed so better read those guides).

I noticed on your first post you checked the debugging, go to settings applications development and uncheck debugging then open kies then connect phone with usb, kies should then install the drivers and it should tell you there is a firmware update which will hopefully give you 2.2.1, then you can disconnect phone, close kies, go back into development and check debugging, connect phone to pc and on phone pull down the information bar and select to copy files to your pc, then you can see your phone as a external drive. Hope this helps and works
Hello,
since I updated to JVO Firmware i cannot connect to kies anymore.
I need to restore my contacts.
I already tired a few things:
-Unmount SD Card
-Format internal sd card
-Reinstalled Kies and USB drivers
PDA: XXJVO
Phone: XXJVO
CSC: OXAJVO (DBT)
If somebody could help than that would be great.
Thanks
USB must be a mainboard connection .
Remove Kies download latest Kies .
Remove all USB drivers of that port with USBDeview .
Install Kies connect phone mass storage mode and let windows find drivers exit and load Kies .
jje
That should work.. just remember, Kies is garbage and it may take several tries... make sure debuggins off
Nope.
Exactly did it like you said JJEgan.
After I installed Kies I connect the phone in mass storage mode (kies not running), right? (of course before i deleted all usb devices with the program)
Then I disconnect again. Switch to Samsung Kies mode and start Kies right? Then after Kies is runnning I conenct my phone.
The Strange thing is there is this windows sound of "Connected" and "Disconnected". But after this there is no "connected" sound again?!
Annother idea how i can get it fixed? Sorry but Kies is really garbage.
by any chance are you using a custom launched, like launcherpro or awlauncher?
cause if you are kies will never sync with your device. so you will need to use stock launcher ( TWlauncher ) and try to connect again via Kies
if not then im clueless
good luck
I found out that the Problem was FuguRoot!!!
Unfortunately it still does not work by copying the 2 files onto the phone.
Maybe of the version difference. I have XXJVO_XXJVO_OXAJVO and in the other thread it says KVO_JVO_JVO (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010141&page=7)
Unfortunately I cannot post in this thread. Can somebody ask for me for the JVO_JVO_JVO version? Thanks
Hey RorixRebel ,
thanks for your suggestion.
I am not using any extra launcher.
But mabe it is not only the FuguRoot but also something else.
Because my dad can also not connect to Kies and he has NOT the FuguRoot.
First I want to try to copy the correct 2 files to my phone and see if this will fix it.
Thx
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
Today I am a little bit quick with writing posts.
It worked after a restart of Kies and my Phone. Haha
Thanks so much for the help.
Now I will try fixing my dads Phone.
Problem Solved
My phone had the fuguroot and missed 2 files that are necessary to connect to Kies (still looking how to undo the fuguroot). If you follow the link above then you can get the 2 missing files from that thread.
My dads phone just had USB Debugging activated. Thats why it didn't work.
Thanks for your help again.

After installing ICS on the I9000 (2.1 RC) I seem to not be able to get my PC to detect the phone (Unable to install Driver Software).
I have downloaded the drivers for the Galaxy and also have tried connecting it to Kies which also resulted in a failure.
In the Device Manager the phone shows up as ''Samsung Mobile MTP Device''
Cheers.
Was also my experience. Went back to JW1.
Thats the problem with ics at the mo, its still beta and glitchy. Stick to JW1
Well you need the Nexus drivers as it explains in the OP of TH build. FWIW it works perfectly for me.

It's the same reason your computer doesn't see your phone when on cm7, it isn't a Sammy phone anymore. You need nexus s drivers for your computer to see the phone, and it will no longer work with kies.

Hi guys, Merry Christmas - Happy and Bugless New Year!
I ve got Samsung Galaxy s2, and i have some question about it,
1. Why it boots itself when long time wifi is ON?
2. I updated 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 trough KIES, (i live in Ukraine), and now i check, there is no update for me in KIES, but all world running on 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 official updates trough Kies, but why i can not get it?,
3. Is there any influence of GSM operator on update for android version? i mean if i change my simcard to other operator, will it update?, or it doesn`t change anything?
4. Why my phone running maximum 9 Hours, ok i am medium user, playin, facebook etc. but, in any case, 8-9 hours not so little for this phone?, sometimes even 4 hours and battery is DEATH
5. Go Ex Launcher is heavier then Touchviz ?? i mean which of them more soft and make more less busy cpu and ram?
6. hmm this is interesting question, is there any trick which can make my location different to kies, to i get official updates of another country , i know this is utopia, but whatever i would like to learn, why not?
Thank you guys, sorry for my laggy, damaged, and un understandable ENGLISH , but i hope you will decode what i say
Wait you SIMPLE ENGLISH EXPLANATION, Hell yeah, finally wrote in english ,

Though I don't have S2 but will try to answer your queries:
1) No idea
2) The updates are location specific, samsung decides which rom to release for which region and when .. 2.3.6 may not be available for your reason
3) As I said, updates are location specific.. if your phone is carrier locked then changing the carrier may make the update available. Check sammobile.com and see which gingerbread version is available for your location
4) Reduce the number of widgets on your screens and turn off autosync .. this will lead to quite some increase in your battery life.. better root your phone and uninstall system apps that you don't use.. and much better option is flashing some custom rom
5) I find Launcher pro plus the most light and smooth launcher yet on my SGS
6) There is a way to let kies think you are from different location.. some registry editing or something.. but better option is to download the firmware from sammobile.com and flashing using odin..
Hope I was able to help..

That's the thing, it does not install drivers automatically, i have installed newest version of Kies and nothing happened, i have tried uninstalling the already installed SGS drivers and let windows auto install them but all i get is 'unable to install driver software'.
I went and downloaded the SGS USB Drivers manually but it also does nothing, im going to try the Galaxy Nexus drivers right now tho.

I've been looking for a unofficial link to update my captivate to gingerbread without kies but I can't find one, reason being that I stupidly used a leaked froyo that destroyed my phone a year ago.. and since then I've had a laggy phone but recently I got a text about a upgrade sadly it wouldn't work and someone said on another forum that it had to do with the leaked froyo... does anyone know where I can download a unofficial version of gingerbread for my captivate? Please I hate my phone now the keyboard gets stuck and I have to restart it all the time...
Here ya go... "Leaked" Stock I897UCKK4 Android 2.3.5 One Clicks *Heimdall and Odin* ---- Boom !!
THANKS!!
Thanks so much it will work with captivate right? It doesn't specify
Yep, cause it is in the "Captivate" Development Forum...
Go for it. And remember, Read and understand what u r doing before flashing...
Thanks one last thing
I was trying to update it but I relized my computer is not recognizing my phone at ALL I tried re installing drivers it charges but it doesn't do mas storage or kies update ect. I've tried debugging mode it used to open up to kies when I pluged it into the wall.. so it's a recent problem :X I have tried removing it from device manager but I don't see a captivate driver under my device manager all I see is 3 standard enhanced pci to usb Host controllers then 4 standard openhcd usb port host controller's and usb composite device which i thought was it but its digital sig is Microsoft and 7 usb root hubs
Sidenote: I checked out your sig but those methods I tried didn't work :C

Did you try the Heimdall version? In the past, when I was unsuccessful with Odin, I was able to get the Heimdall version to work (but it does involve a couple of hoops to jump through). Another suggestion would be to back off the current drivers and reinstall the Samsung one (I remember reading how this was a common solution for getting Odin to work; I used Heimdall to get to GB and am currently on ICS and do not use either now, just CWM).
Hi,
Yesterday, I was trying to upgrade from 2.3.6 to ICS via Kies.
The upgrade got stuck at 45% and I had to disconnect the cord, as I had a flight to catch
Now the phone shows an error "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
When i connect the phone via the cabe, to the computer, using Kies, it gives me error saying "Device not responding. To resolve the issue, reboot the device."
This is how I tried to resolve the issue, but with no success..
I have rebooted a number of times without success
I clicked on 'Troubleshoot connection error' and reinstalled the driver multiple times, but without any success
What options do I have?
Best regards,
Pavan Kota

You have two option:
1.Take your phone to service centre and say them "I was updating the phone with kies but at 45% it said some error and I have to disconnect the cable and nowit shows me *place holder* error"But dont say them you pluged the cable out during upgrade.
2.flash a stock rom with pc odin.
Just flash stock ics via pc odin. Its quite simple diy fix

Hi @vijai2011. Thanks for your thoughts..
I would prefer not doing both, if possible. Hoping for some solution..
Quick questions:
If I flash a stock rom with pc odin, will I loose my stored pictures / videos? I did not take a backup. Am cursing myself for that right now.
Where do i get the stock rom for flashing, along with the procedure? I assume a 'stock rom' would mean an official rom.
Can i use the 'stock rom' for ICS directly or do i need to go back to 2.3.6?

1.No you wont.Only phone contacts(not the contacts in sim),apps, messages are removed.Files on sd card is intact.
2.Stoch rom along with procedure here.Follow 1.b alone in the thread if you donot need root.Yes stock rom means official rom.
3.You can flash directly.
Dear @vijai2011,
Thanks for the post. I will try the ICS Stock Rom Flash if nothing else works..

kies is always S$#@.If you need to update, use ota.
Solved: Got a new USB Cable
Finally resolved this issue without flashing a stock ROM.
After trying out everything, I got a doubt about the USB cable and got a new official Samsung cable.. and voila.. the Kies software detected the emergency recovery and proceeded.
Now the emergency recovery file from Samsung is over 1GB in size, and stops in between if the internet connection breaks. So ensure you have enough space, good bandwidth and proper monitoring, so you can restart in case it breaks.
And finally the ICS is now installed on my phone.. It looks very neat and sleak!
The patience paid off..

After my current experience, I would always recommend KIES to everyone.
It is a great software and I think it gets blamed unnecessarily because of completely unrelated issues.
