Hello. I am here all the way from the forums belonging your phones sister (the Wildfire S) we have pretty much the same specs as this phone but with a 600mhz processor and no Facebook button. This would make it fairly easy to port roms from the wildfire s to the salsa.
I do not own a salsa and probably never will but I was wondering is there life out there? Are there any devs with a salsa? Does anybody even go to this forum anymore?
What I'm trying to get at is that IF I HAVE SPARE TIME and IF I WANT TO then I will port some Wildfire S roms to the salsa along but ONLY IF SOMEBODY IS OUT THERE! I NEED DEVS AND TESTERS TO HELP ME!
I hope I can help you.
Benjamin.

welll, there's no life here, brad. i can say that because we have just got from the darkness area where we could not root this phone at the time before it's added in htcdev.
so what we have managed so far is, getting bigger internal memory by implementing data2sd to our phone.
for custom rom ? i am afraid we're still having no devs around here. if you'd like to make custom rom for us, we'll b glad to hear that.

yep got sense already 2.1 to be exact..... want to port something...work on ics! no offense the marvel maybe the sister phone...but its very underpowered compared to this handset....i know my wife has one! 600 processor when this has an 800, rams bigger, so is space on this. for me the marvel is too small and not fast enough to catch this unit....fair does you may have roms already made for it.....but it wouldn't work well....id rather have desire s ported in! or better.

So technically the only difference is a Facebook button.

Ok so nothing belonging to HTC......mmm ish have to figure out a way then for mail. Data2sd? Currently we use a seperate script for ext3 usage......how would that fair on your rom?
What's in it?
Sense 3.5 core from the Pico *unique to .sense*
ICS Wallpapers *unique to .sense*
ICS Ringtones/Notifications AND sense ringtones *unique to .sense*
ICS Music app *unique to .sense*
MIUI Camera *unique to .sense*
Option for original HTC theme as well as dotAURA *unique to .sense*
ICS fonts
No boot sound (re installable? custom boot sound?)
ICS/Galaxy Nexus boot animation ( can this be removed? )
Overclockable to 806mhz. (that's over 25% faster)* (whats the deal for the salsa? 800 is our max)
Ram tweak to make .sense smoother and up to twice as fast (capable of running on this salsa?)
Less power consuming (in what way less power consuming?)
Mobile brava engine for higher quality video playback
DATA2SD compatible / link2sd support pre-installed (what support is there? we have ext3 separate script)
New, faster Android Market (3.4.4)
Ad-free
Pre-Rooted
No HTC/Network junk ( shame, id like to keep mail only )
Full flash player
Deodexed and zipalined
Gingerbread keyboard and HTC keyboard
Nitrolag System for speed
XDA free pre-installed (uninstallable?)
sorry if it seems im picking fault or anything, id just like to highlight areas that are higher than the wildfire or maybe non compatible.
please let me know, as i would like to try this out....to see how it fairs.
thanks scotty

I don't know.
I think HTC don't develop any ROM's.
But we can develop some good ROM's.
Now we have to develop linux Debian .
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the interests you have with our product, the HTC Tattoo. I can understand how important it is to be able to fully utilize your device and be able to have the 2.1 Android Operating System.
Unfortunately, at this time there is no Update to the 2.1 Android Operating System Update. This Update will be sent to your device via email or text message when it is available.

Resolution is not the problem... that works... the problem is camera and BT... but this is different in wildfire so no go.
If I don't see either a custom 2.1 working ROM (by working I mean everything working), or a RUU for 2.x from HTC, it'll be curtains for my HTC Tattoo. (I'll still build AzusaROM though and test the ROM on it until it bricks).
I'm thinking of getting a Nexus One at the end of the year.

Not sure I get your gripe, the phone is over a year old. It's time for you to take responsibility and flash it.
Let's forget about ICS for a while. According to our sources we have a sense 3.0 rom with 2.3.5. coming in December. I would be happy to grab that. I have a feeling that we are not gonna get an official ICS rom at all.
Don't want to flash. Been there, done that with my hd2 million times, there were always glitches and stupid bugs. Don't want to waste my time, warranty on custom roms on incS. Does a perfect bugfree out of the box like sense 3.0 rom exist for our device? Love the sense ui, so not big fan of cm.

Sense made my phone laggy and have terriable battery life. Why would I want that.
Cm7 is more like an iPhone. Battery is better although not quite as good as my friends iPhone 3gs that has 80% battery left at the end of the day on ios 5.
I agree. Why bother with official ROM's when year has passed - no warranty anyway. I get 5 days of battery life with CM7.

we should be getting ICS update for sure ans some phones listed out by HTC are older versions than ours..also tried the ICS rom by galinet miui but somehow it does not go past the bootup screen..
Using cm nightlies and I don't see what the big deal is about ics... I'm not sure what else I want my phone to do that it doesn't do already. I can phone and text, send picture messages, browse the web, use torrent, watch movies, connect to a printer, feed other devices using the portable hotspot, play snes, nintendo, n64, sega, gameboy, game gear, take photos, record video in hd, use gps and navigation install any app I want and control my bell pvr while I'm taking a crap. that's one way of looking at it but i think you are missing the point. from what i've read, ics is supposed to enhance the android experience. in other words, add more polish and improve the look and the feel of the operating system. what you are referring to is hardware capabilities and app functionalities.
if I can have the same functionalities in a more polished package, I would at least want to give it a go.

that's a known bug with the new release. there's a workaround for that: you have to flash the weekly (non-ics) version first, let it boot up, reboot into recovery then flash the ics version on top. or you can just flash the previous release (v1.11.9). it's been flawless for me.
I am a bit of a weirdo. I tend to see the frames per second in daily life much more than other people. I see overpowerd LEDs flicker, i see the Hz of CRT screens, I see the refresh rate of plasma TVs... and so on.
This is pretty annoying for me as it is. So what bothers me a lot is the scrolling on android! How low of fps is that?? It is NOTHING compared to the scrolling fps on an iphone. I know my inc s can do smooth scrolling cuz some games have it. I googled it and it seems connected to hardware acceleration.
Now my question:
Is there a custom rom that has this smooth scrolling?
Try Android Revolution HD rom by mike1986. It worked out well and it is much more smoother than other ROMs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088498
Download that ROM and flash it.
Ask if you have any trouble in installing it.
Thanks for the reply. By "smoother", i don't mean the response time when you press some thing or the load time of applications.
My major concern is swiping/scrolling up and down in a menu like 'settings'.
I have unlocked my phone with htcdev and lost all my phone data... sigh... my own fault, i had to read the disclaimer stating it will be wiped to protect personal data. I'm new to this custom rom/bootloader/radio flashing so i still have a lot of reading to do. I just wonder if it is worth it.

Try cyanogenmod
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA App
I use RCMix3d Runny v4.0 (sense 3.5 and android 2.3.5) as a daily rom. Works pretty nice for me.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345742
I got 3 replies, presenting 3 different roms.
Can anyone verify that the scrolling is high fps in these roms?
Talking about the three Roms given as suggestion for smooth scrolling,it depends. If you like sense, try rcmix Rom.If you prefer non-sense stock feel, try either of the two(I'd go with ARHD).
If you'd like to get smoothness without installing custom Rom,try downloading a custom launcher such as LauncherPro.
If you want the purest smooth scrolling on either sense or non-sense roms,I suggest waiting for a good Ice cream sandwich Rom,the hardware acceleration should definately bring the desired butter smooth feeling(as evident in ics alpha 3.0)
Something to choose from, but the best way would be to just test roms/launchers and see for yourself. After all, almost everyone has their own opinion.
Hope that helps.
eXcito.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
I just switched to the new Android Revolution HD 2.1.12 (was using 1.something before) and instantly noticed that the scrolling was a lot smoother than before. I'm having the same problem as you and though this is still not iPhone smoothness it's way better than the stock smoothness.
And with No-Sense (disables bloat Sense-Software but not Sense entirely) you also have a very good footprint meaning more free RAM then stock or Cyanogen. The Launcher from No-Sense is GoLauncher EX which is smooth too.
Just give it a try.
For me the smoothest, bug free has been Virtuous Affinity 1.48. Give it a shot, I'm sure you will like it.
Different people different opinion.
To sum up:
Sense roms u can try:
ARHD
Nik's trinity
Virtuous Affinity
RCmix 3d
No-Sense:
CM 7.1
MIUI
cyanogenmod is the fastest and smoothest rom for incredible s bar none - i dont think anyone could argue with that. it just lacks some of the sense functionality.
if i were you, i would definitely start with it, and ive tried them all except the nik one at different times, always returning to cyanogenmod.

Hi incrediblealex,
I would suggest taking a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384852
It is very experimental, but if you are so fixated on "smoothness" and are willing to sacrifice a couple of other things for it, then the hardware acceleration will satisfy your needs.
Hope you find something to suit you.

There's always Cyanogenmod 7 if you don't specifically look for an ICS rom. It works perfectly
I've tried a lot of roms and I always back to cyanogenmod, it has great battery life and performance and everything is working in it
I use cooldroid revolution s. It's almost full sense 4 and speed is amazing. It never lags. After flashing camera fix its great.
I tried other roms but no matter what I try I always come back to this rom.

Don't know if you're still into Gingerbread but I'm on Trinity SensationXL 5.0 with Unity 10 kernel on top and I can honestly tell you it does not lag whatsoever and battery life is great as well, it's the stablest custom GB rom out there you can get. The possibilities on GB are endless, with full V6 Supercharger support and customs kernels! You can never get bored overclocking your phone. :fingers-crossed:
As far as tweaking and theme'ing goes, there are numerous mods and themes out there that allows you to fully customize the rom to your personal needs, here's a couple;
Code:

Also I've discovered that a little bit of a system file (media_profiles.xml) tweaking can make your Sense 3.5 camera take crisp clear photos and great quality videos.

I am using a CB 2.3.3 wid sense 2.1 custom Rom. Can I use these mods to my device with this ROM?

Hi,
I am tired of trying new ROMs daily and want to settle down with one ROM. Currently i am on Ice cold sandwich and always come back to this ROM after trying any other ROM. My dream ROM would be with HTC sense (3.6 or 4 any would do) with fast ice cream sandwich. Speed and stability is important for me. Please suggest some good ROMs.
Thanks
Everyone's experience is dofferent with each rom..
Have u tried miui? Thats the one to go for me
Smooth, light and sense camera with miui sleekness
Waiting for the stable jb now

I'm on Nik's Project X. If you like Sense 4, it's the perfect ROM for you

I think, yes. But we don't have Sense 4.1 right now. But we will get it surely when we get a port from the new Desire X. But with the kernel from lost.prophet and the governor lionheart the ROM seems very smooth to me. It feels great, but try it yourself - it's all about taste
you should try the official pre-root rom, if the stability is your main key. I use the rooted official rom, sense 3.6 on ics. The speed is not bad but not so fast.
Because I use this phone for getting my job done and little chat with my friends. Next year I will flash the custom rom, when htc is no longer issue any updates for this phone.

The best ROM is the one that works best for your requirements on your phone.
Each ROM has certain features, some USPs and some shortcomings, but ALL ARE GOOD! Or else they wouldn't be showcased by the respective ROM developers (thank god htcphones has been banned).
So check each one out, try them in your daily usage pattern and then select one. Asking others what's good for me is like choosing a girlfriend/ partner and asking others to test and tell if she's OK!

Been running it for 2 days now. A poster in the thread mentioned phenomenal battery life. Unfortunately I don't see it. I am at 50% right now since the morning and I am a light user. I am coming from 2.3.5 which had a 3 day average use for me. Not happy with performance buy happy that I have ICS. If my provider didn't stop development I'd be still on 2.3.5 until stable release. Oh well.

Than you're doing sth wrong. My battery life is great. I'm on 60% now with a rough usage the whole day... Disable auto-brightness, that should do it

Not sure what could be wrong. Didn't touch any settings. Everything default, except turned off the animations that I hate so much.
I'll turn it off and see what that does.

I'm also using Nik Project X. Even though the ICS experience is so much better than GB, the battery life is not comparable. I could get at least 4 days with Nik Trinity XL. With Project X, I get 3 days roughly. I'm using the same settings I used to have with Trinity XL but battery performance could not match Project X. I'm still happy about the ICS's smoothness.

In the beginning I also didn't touch anything and battery life was terrible... Don't really know what changed it. I hope auto-brightness does it...

Auto-brightness, how often things sync with the internet, how good of an area are you in for signal reception. Even having your phone on silent will give you better battery life: if your constantly getting messages from whatsapp etc instead of playing a sound for message notification.
My phone will get to about 8pm with 70% battery, but then i talk to people on whatsapp and my battery goes down to about 10%.

Hi. I'm interested to try IceColdSandwich someday, but it seems that there were several bugs which makes me thinking whether should or not to flash this ROM. Have you tried Nik Project X V4.1? If so, can you help me compare pros and cons between these two ROMs? Because I'm Nik Project X V4.1's user. Never had a chance to try IceColdSandwich yet.
