CWM Touch Recovery for O3D - LG Thrill 4G

Paki0402 created a tool for the P920 (Optimus 3D) to flash CWM Touch Recovery. I've tested it on our P925 Thrill and it works great. Thought I would share it with everyone in case you don't frequent the O3D forums (if you don't you should). Again, all credit to Paki0402 and the CWM team. I'm just sharing their work.
Follow the guide in this thread.

Hate to burst your bubble :/
O3D boot.img has always worked in Thrill......
I'll try it though, could I just use the 'How to get CWM the easy way' method and have it work?

I realize that, but there has not been a touch recovery.img prior to this. Now there is one, and it works on both the P920 and P925.
Yes, you can take the recovery image from the link and use the other method. His script does that for you though.

Here you go. FYI: it's the recovery.img not boot.img

so i guess they're getting closer and closer to having a fairly easy way of changing basebands now. good deal.

Although we had small confrontation by misunderstanding, sir.
I thank you and your endeavors
I got it done. Works differently but awesome!
NOTE!: For those who are unfamiliar with what this recovery.img does, it is a replacement to get into CWM with Touch Screen Enabled allowing you to use the Touch Screen.
Difference is following
[√]Bigger Menu for Finger Touch!(Good News)
[√]Full CWM, Flash, Wipe, Install, & etc.
[√]Color difference(Orange Menu instead of Blue)
[√]No longer use of Volume + & Volume - to Navigate.
Please thank benbowden and Paki0402 for bringing us Such a lovely gift.
You can flash as listed above or use rdannar's Tut to push the recovery image.
Look for How to Install CWM The easy way for rdannars method.

Go through the Development Forum find How to Install CWM The Easy Way, come back here download recovery.img and install it with method.

Will this allow you to get nightlies through CWM directly, download to your phone, and update like any other phone would?
If so, ill do this for sure. If not, no real reason

Installed, I like it much easier to navigate. I installed previous version without researching first ended up having to restore using bin rom file. This version is flawless.
Just download it to sdcard/download.... install/open a terminal emulator and use this command
dd if=/sdcard/download/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096
Once you enter this into terminal you should get message saying it copied so many bytes blah blah. You now have touch recovery. If you download to a dif spot just change the location in the terminal command.

No you don't get CM nightlies from CWM you get them through rom manager. You will need premium app to do this, open rom manager, choose download rom, choose nightlies pick the one you want download then rom manager will reboot phone to recovery and install the rom.

I had to push this through a terminal emulator, but seems to work. Im hoping i can update via the app now as doing it manually is a complete pain in the ass

Can u update nightlies from rom manager if u don't have cwm touch?

[Q] [Help]Can't Get into Open Recovery screen after using 2.2.1 Brasil-Retail

Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble getting open recovery to work on my milestone after flashing the brasil 2.2.1 retail rom.
The bootloader is the same 90.78.
Here's what I did.
I flashed a brasil 2.1 retail rom on my milestone and then used the motorola update tool to get it to 2.2.1.
After a few problems with the retail 2.2 (mostly the screen gets blank for a long time if a call is not anwsered.) i decided to go back to the shadowmod rom which I'm used to.
So, I downgraded back to the 2.1 retail rom, and then flashed the openrecovery found here code.google.com/p/shadowmodbr/downloads/list (MILESTONE_BASE_2.2.1.zip)
Used the open recovery listed there (used to work fine), placed the OR folder and update.zip on the SD card... and after everything was ready, I went to the recovery screen (holding "x" and the camera button) when I got to the Triangle+exclamation mark screen, I pressed VOL UP + Camera Button and NOTHING HAPPENED!
I tried the whole process again with the same result.
I found other VRs here on xda dev foruns, downloaded one specific for the 90.78 bootloader, about 3mb in size (the one on Shadowmod's site is 18mb big) but I can't flash it. RSD lite greyed out the start button once I select this file.
So I'm stuck, I can't get OR working, can't flash any custom roms, and I'm stuck with this problematic official rom =/
Anyone have any Idea about what can I do to get or working?
Do you get any errors in bootloader mode? If no, try flashing GOT 2.2.1 sbf file. Its got vulnerable recovery injected.
If rsdlite doesn't highlight the start button, try renaming the sbf file to something smaller.

No, no, absolutely no error flashing..
As I said, before migrating to the oficial retail 2.2.1, the process I wrote about worked flawlessly.
Can you please provide a link to this GOT 2.2.1 rom you mentioned?

Select anyone. Then flash CM or whatever you want over it using AOR. Don't forget to wipe all.
And if you need to flash only the VR in future, only use this.
You guys might think I'm joking, but I tried flashing every one of the GOT roms (flash went OK, no errors), the vulnerable recovery sleshn posted (RAMDLD90_78.zip, no errors flashing too), and I'm still not having any success getting into the OR.
I sent my milestone to motorola two weeks ago, could it be that they modified something on it to block this exploit?
The bootloader still says version 90.78, but I can't get into the recovery screen at all, isn't there another command besides Vol Up + camera btn to acess the OR?
I'm about to give up =[
I think Joe aka Zeppelinrox has created a script to get you into OR menu automatically. You can pm him. I will post the link here if i find it. I think it is in a thread called handy dandy fixes.

I'll try that later, as I need to rest a bit, I've been writing my final paper for graduation at my universit for 5 hours straight now...
I'll post the results once I try it.
YAY ! IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I so relieved now, let me hack this phone apart now.
THANK YOU GUYS !
Of course it works
I mean, I'm glad it worked for you lol
Glad it works
So what are you planning on doing to "hack this phone"?
actually, i dissembled the whole thing today, after I found out that motorola shiped it back with the camera button mounted backwards.. When I pressed it, is started the camera but wasn't really working.. after placing the button in place like it should be, now the open recovery works again by pressing the vol up camera and the camera button, as it should have...
I lost my warranty, but a was about to lose it this month anyway... I'm just glad everything works as it shoud now.
Motorola mis-mounted their own camera button? Sounds like some awesome support haha.

I'm having the same problem but unfortunately it appears the fix requires android to be functioning on the device....Is there any other way? I'm sitting at the triangle with exclamation mark and OR just doesn't want to open! My bootloader is .74 so it should be the CAM+VOL but it doesn't work!
Thanks

Strange behaviour, lost root

Something strange has happened. Today I flashed the topogigi GB rom. Before flashing, I updated CWM to the latest version (5.0.2.0?) and ran Backtoext3 even though I was already on ext3. The topogigi rom was corrupt (my fault) and wouldn't load. Also all my backups became unavailable in CWM. I ended up flashing an old Nightly which was my only choice. From there I rolled back CWM to the previous release (5.0.1.6?) and flashed an uncorrupted copy of the topogigi rom. Everything worked perfect.
A few hours later, I decided to try to restore my stock 10d backup. That was quite buggy. Among other things, my sim card was locked for a long while and then coming back. I restored my topogigi rom again, and it seems ok, except I have lost root.
What to do now? I wonder if the phone is unstable. Also I need root!
Search for the Superuser thread by ChainsDD, that'll sort out your root.

Yes, as the bootloader isn't locked, any ROM can be rooted. If there is no exploit then NVFlash a recovery and root via that.

[One Click]Updated!!! LG Revo All in One Pkg for Root, CWM 5.0.2.7, and Unroot

This is an All-in-One package to Root and install CWM Recovery or to UnRoot and install the stock recovery. I have spent many hours trying to modify this to be as easy as possible for all to accomplish their goals whether by modding or returning to stock.
What is This?
This is an exploit built by the Revolutionary team, that was ported to the Esteem by djrbliss, then I was able to fix permissions and install su and superuser. The exploit is not built by me, rather by the Revolutionary guys. This zip contains the proper drivers for the Revolution, all root files, and the Root&Recovery.bat file. The .bat has been modified to fix ANY of the problems people are having with root, and will make it so that CWM will stick through reboot. It installs the newest versions of the su binary and Superuser.apk. It will also install ClockWorkMod Recovery also (no need to run RevoToolkit anymore). The unroott will uninstall and delete the su binary and remove Superuser.apk. It will also remove CWM and install the stock ZV7 recovery.img. If there are any problems, just let me know.

[HOW TO]Install ClockworkMod Recovery The easy way

Try this at your own risk
Your phone must be rooted before installing (use super one click)
Download recovery.img and put it on your internal storage card NOT the removable one.
Download a terminal program from the android market
Open terminal on phone and type
suThen hit enter (a superuser prompt will pop up, hit allow)
Then back up by typing this into the terminal apk on your phone
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.backup bs=4096Then hit enter
Then put it on phone by typing this into the terminal apk on your phone
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096Then hit enter
If you accidentally put it on your external sdcard than type this into terminal apk
dd if=/sdcard/_ExternalSD/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096Then hit enter
Thats it, post if this helps.
Your tutorials look easiest, but will it work? Have it work for you?. Thank btw

EDIT: This works on Gingerbread only. Sorry for the confusion.

I did with rom manager but when i reboot into recovery mi first thing that i see is this message: wipe user data, this can not be undone and i put no then i just get reboot system now and wipe some thing no more, recovery doesn't have things like install SD, advanced, or power of, why this happened?

Are you on GB or froyo? Rom manager will only work on GB not froyo. If you want to install cwm on froyo use the method in first post
...fighting ninjas at night, talkin' about this and that.

Flashed Phone doesnt boot from Custom Rom ?

Alright so here's the deal. I just rooted my phone (the superuser app is present in the menu).
There is a custom clockwork recovery thing I got going on..
So I`m trying to follow some tutorials (say the official Cyanogenmod one!) which tell you to select "install from zip" when the clockwork recovery thing is loaded. So I do that, and install the recommended stable version cm-7.2.0-p990. (Oh and I've done it about 5 times now.)
The next step is to reboot and enjoy Cyanogenmod.. except that after the reboot I just get a clean version of the official ROM again, where I have to go through the initial setup.. So what the heck am I doing wrong here ?
What bootloader are you on? What version of stock ROM you have? How did you root and install CWM? Answer these then we can move on.
I rooted my phone using the AIO-ToolKit listed here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
After that I flashed the recovery using Nvflash-Recovery program through batch, which makes the phone boot CWM recovery. (Had to install some APX driver on my PC first)
My phone is running the latest official rom available : Android 4.0.4 kernel 2.6.39.4

In fact no, I also tried the cm-10.1-20130422-NIGHTLY-p990 once last night but it gave me no different results.

Okay weird, http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p990 clearly suggest using Clockworkrecoverymod recovery.
What do you suggest for bootloader ? Since there doesnt seem to be a later Cyanogenmod version for the LG P990
why don't you simply go to developer section of p990 forum and find yourself a good working CM10 or CM10.1 rom for new bootloader?
every thread has the instructions/features described in the first 3 posts...
ps:
CWM has nothing to do with your problem here...
yes as above said go to development section, there you can find listed all roms for new bootloader. they SHOULD work

Okay strange, cheers guys !
I installed some rom and boy what a difference.. Looks like I can get rid of my iPhone 5
Nah, joke. This'll serve beautifully as a backup, or maybe I'll give it to my little brother as his first phone.
