Something strange has happened. Today I flashed the topogigi GB rom. Before flashing, I updated CWM to the latest version (5.0.2.0?) and ran Backtoext3 even though I was already on ext3. The topogigi rom was corrupt (my fault) and wouldn't load. Also all my backups became unavailable in CWM. I ended up flashing an old Nightly which was my only choice. From there I rolled back CWM to the previous release (5.0.1.6?) and flashed an uncorrupted copy of the topogigi rom. Everything worked perfect.
A few hours later, I decided to try to restore my stock 10d backup. That was quite buggy. Among other things, my sim card was locked for a long while and then coming back. I restored my topogigi rom again, and it seems ok, except I have lost root.
What to do now? I wonder if the phone is unstable. Also I need root!
Search for the Superuser thread by ChainsDD, that'll sort out your root.

If you installed a stock rom using smart flash then that procedure makes us the slave user again since that's the company procedure to restore the device !!

First you keep on trying different tricks and traps if none of those worked then use Smart Flash Tool and install the stock rom !!!
After you are done with full installation root your phone and install the CWM recovery !!!

Yes, as the bootloader isn't locked, any ROM can be rooted. If there is no exploit then NVFlash a recovery and root via that.

Flashing a ROM (which already has root) then using SuperOneClick (redundant at this point)..?
Ya I am surprised how can one enter CWM when he is not a SuperUser !!!
But maybe that's why he titled as " Strange behaviour " !!!

If you don't know if your phone is rooted it means you don't use apps which requires root which in turn means you have no need to root your phone!

Still have Odin on my phone, will that need to be removed if I am adding ICS with it already attached?
Also my kernal version has changed like 2x today from all of the updates (LRK currently) will have to find a new way to root vs the way I did it when I was on KKA or whatever it was
It appears that the package is broken. For the time being I have no way of remaking it. I hopefully soon will be able to make it again.
The other day I managed to get my hands on a UK ATRIX that was still running the official 2.3.4 rom (T-Mobile I think) so I stuck ROM Factory on it and made a fruitcake of it for your enjoyment.
As always with custom ROMs I am not responsible for anything you do to your device, you don't have to flash this if you don't want to!.
Also this is the first time I have used Rom Factory to do anything and I am completely unable to test it as the phone I made it from has an locked bootloader (does this matter?) so again flash with caution.
Features:
Rooted
No Webtop (Sorry )
Up to date Apps including super user
Here's a mirror on 4shared if anyone needs it

Yup. It is exactly that. It has no unique features other than the fact that it is the stock UK ROM that went missing at the same time as all of the file sharing websites in the form of a fruitcake.
Has anyone tried it to see if it works? I still have to phone (locked bootloader & It's not mine) I made it from (though not for much longer) and can have another go!
Thanks, I'll try it when I get back home.

Tried this yesterday. Had CM7 latest nightly running. Did a full wipe and clean install. But unfortunately, it kept booting into CM7 (not the one I had before flashing). I anyways tried logging into my Google account and the setup wizard force closed every time I tried. Had to revert to my previous setup
Not sure if I did anything wrong, I know the usual drill of installing custom ROMs.
Did anyone else give a try?

Very odd issue... Is it because the device I made it from has a locked bootloader? You say that the rom didn't flash (or did but not properly) what did the install script in CWM say?
Sorry I don't have the device any longer so I won't be able to do anything with re making the fruitcake :crying: as I have had to give it back.
PS I have sent you a PM with the original rom link in it, may be that the one on the mirror is corrupted.

The script said that the flash was successful. Also it said that I should not forget to wipe cache and data, which I did anyways. No errors in the install script.
Not sure if the zip had the original ROM, coz it was booting into CM7, which is obviously not what you are trying to do. I did a full wipe, 3 times, so I guess there is no possibility for it to boot into my previous installation of CM7 nightly.
I saw your PM. Thanks. I will try today if I get some time off work and let you know.

The zip is 200MB this would make you think that it includes the stuff. I have just extracted it an the .zip only contains the edify script for installing the rom nothing else. Derp.

Can someone make working UK (Orange) or Europe (Retail) Fruit cake? I need it for my Atrix, which is unlocked for all carriers, rooted and with unlocked bootloader. Didn't find nowhere.
Does this ROM has Cell Broadcast?
Alright so here's the deal. I just rooted my phone (the superuser app is present in the menu).
There is a custom clockwork recovery thing I got going on..
So I`m trying to follow some tutorials (say the official Cyanogenmod one!) which tell you to select "install from zip" when the clockwork recovery thing is loaded. So I do that, and install the recommended stable version cm-7.2.0-p990. (Oh and I've done it about 5 times now.)
The next step is to reboot and enjoy Cyanogenmod.. except that after the reboot I just get a clean version of the official ROM again, where I have to go through the initial setup.. So what the heck am I doing wrong here ?
What bootloader are you on? What version of stock ROM you have? How did you root and install CWM? Answer these then we can move on.
I rooted my phone using the AIO-ToolKit listed here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
After that I flashed the recovery using Nvflash-Recovery program through batch, which makes the phone boot CWM recovery. (Had to install some APX driver on my PC first)
My phone is running the latest official rom available : Android 4.0.4 kernel 2.6.39.4

Okay weird, http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p990 clearly suggest using Clockworkrecoverymod recovery.
What do you suggest for bootloader ? Since there doesnt seem to be a later Cyanogenmod version for the LG P990
why don't you simply go to developer section of p990 forum and find yourself a good working CM10 or CM10.1 rom for new bootloader?
every thread has the instructions/features described in the first 3 posts...
ps:
