Using superoneclick to unroot the o2x for warranty? - LG Optimus 2x

I have flashed cm7 in my o2x. But I need to get my phone back to warranty. I have done a nandroid backup for the stock rom.
If I restore my phone from the nandroid backup and unroot it using superoneclick. Is it possible to restore my warranty, will the Clockworkmod recovery also be removed after unroot?
Please help!

CWM will still be there. I think there are several Smartflash, NVFlash and KDZ-Flash tutorials which will all do what you want.

[Q] A newbie Q: is CMW a nandroid backup?

Very sorry for newbie Q. I've been using Android for one month now. Though I've rooted, and install CWM, it seems that my knowledge is fragmented. For instance, I installed ROM Manager and ClockWorkMod. Both have backup/restore option. Is Nandrloid backup similar to this? Or CWM is the nandroid backup?
Coz I'm thinking about flashing the baseband and it says i need to do nandroid backup.
thanks
The backup feature in CWM is called a nandroid backup

Yup, you are right! It's the same thing.

Two more questions:
1. I read from a few threads that restore function of CWM may not necessarily working. How do we know when we do the back up that it'll work when we need to restore?
2. The CWM that i downloaded is 3.0.8. I read somewhere that the newest is 3.2 something. How can i upgrade to that? It seems that 3.2 can solve this restore failure.
thanks
If you look in the CWM 3.2.0.0 thread, you'll notice there is a zip file, in that is the recovery image and a batch file that will install it for you.

I did trust CWM with backup of my system before i tried cyanmod ROM... I have three backups on my SD card and CWM restores fine, but system wont boot. So i had to build my phone all new again.
Dont trust CWM
After rebuilding you could have have restored the data backup (not system and boot) and you'd have been OK.
but the need to still rebuild still equates to CWM backups are useless.

That's only true for the original ROM, for custom ROM it's a perfect solution, you just have to flash the ROM again after the restore.

now, i'm confused. So, it's not enough that we restore but we need to flash it again? Like in nvflash or smartflash? Then what is it that we restore?
Also, I just flashed CMW 3.2. Do i need to create a new backup since currently my back up is from CMW 3.0.8?
By flash the ROM again, I meant run the zip file with the custom ROM on from Cwm. You will then have all your data and settings back.

So, if i want to go back to stock rom, i run the zip with stock rom from CWM? thanks.
Do you really have a zip file with stock rom? I don't think so.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
One could be made though, I suppose.
Sorry I'm confused now
CWM backups don't work? is that why I can't see them when I open CW Rom Manager? I can see them on the SD card but not in the program...
If these backups do not work, is there another way of making backups that work? I don't want to be left with a bricked phone if I try out some ROMS...
I saw a youtube video that showed how to use NVflash, but it was for the G2X and incredibly complicated, battery was taken out, and the phone was plugged in/out of the pc several times, etc... Is theres something similar for the O2X?
Cheers

Yes, it's the link below. Unless I'm mistaken. But not sure if it's compatible with my country.

edit: the link is BIN file not zip. So, with stock ROM, nandroid backup is useless then?

Strange behaviour, lost root

Something strange has happened. Today I flashed the topogigi GB rom. Before flashing, I updated CWM to the latest version (5.0.2.0?) and ran Backtoext3 even though I was already on ext3. The topogigi rom was corrupt (my fault) and wouldn't load. Also all my backups became unavailable in CWM. I ended up flashing an old Nightly which was my only choice. From there I rolled back CWM to the previous release (5.0.1.6?) and flashed an uncorrupted copy of the topogigi rom. Everything worked perfect.
A few hours later, I decided to try to restore my stock 10d backup. That was quite buggy. Among other things, my sim card was locked for a long while and then coming back. I restored my topogigi rom again, and it seems ok, except I have lost root.
What to do now? I wonder if the phone is unstable. Also I need root!
Search for the Superuser thread by ChainsDD, that'll sort out your root.

If you installed a stock rom using smart flash then that procedure makes us the slave user again since that's the company procedure to restore the device !!
Don't worry again root your device using Superone Click !!!!

After you are done with full installation root your phone and install the CWM recovery !!!

Yes, as the bootloader isn't locked, any ROM can be rooted. If there is no exploit then NVFlash a recovery and root via that.

Sorry, but this is insane. If you can boot into CWM, then just flash this: http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip

Ya I am surprised how can one enter CWM when he is not a SuperUser !!!
But maybe that's why he titled as " Strange behaviour " !!!

I need a tester!!!

Hello all, it's me again!!! I need someone to test a new method for root and install of clockwork to eliminate the need of revotoolkit and hopefully eliminate all of these problems of fastboot. I have run it on my phone and it appears to have worked, but I want to take a phone that is not rooted at all, and completely stock and test it on. Please let me know if you can help!!! Thanks!
Ps. This can then be written into a return to stock script for replacing with the stock recovery!!!!
Will flashing the .tot replace the CWM to stock? I'm pretty sure it does. I could make a backup right now, flash the .tot and try this if the .tot will replace CWM to stock

Sending you a pm with the link! Thanks!!!
It rooted, installed CWM, and Revotoolkit successfully. No more errors in Revotoolkit, it knew which CWM version was installed.
Maybe change the filename so people don't mix them up with the other root methods? That's the only thing I could think of

CWM Touch Recovery for O3D

Paki0402 created a tool for the P920 (Optimus 3D) to flash CWM Touch Recovery. I've tested it on our P925 Thrill and it works great. Thought I would share it with everyone in case you don't frequent the O3D forums (if you don't you should). Again, all credit to Paki0402 and the CWM team. I'm just sharing their work.
Follow the guide in this thread.

I realize that, but there has not been a touch recovery.img prior to this. Now there is one, and it works on both the P920 and P925.
Yes, you can take the recovery image from the link and use the other method. His script does that for you though.

I thank you and your endeavors
I got it done. Works differently but awesome!
NOTE!: For those who are unfamiliar with what this recovery.img does, it is a replacement to get into CWM with Touch Screen Enabled allowing you to use the Touch Screen.
Difference is following
[√]Bigger Menu for Finger Touch!(Good News)
[√]Full CWM, Flash, Wipe, Install, & etc.
[√]Color difference(Orange Menu instead of Blue)
[√]No longer use of Volume + & Volume - to Navigate.
Please thank benbowden and Paki0402 for bringing us Such a lovely gift.
You can flash as listed above or use rdannar's Tut to push the recovery image.

Will this allow you to get nightlies through CWM directly, download to your phone, and update like any other phone would?
If so, ill do this for sure. If not, no real reason
Installed, I like it much easier to navigate. I installed previous version without researching first ended up having to restore using bin rom file. This version is flawless.
Just download it to sdcard/download.... install/open a terminal emulator and use this command
dd if=/sdcard/download/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096
Once you enter this into terminal you should get message saying it copied so many bytes blah blah. You now have touch recovery. If you download to a dif spot just change the location in the terminal command.

No you don't get CM nightlies from CWM you get them through rom manager. You will need premium app to do this, open rom manager, choose download rom, choose nightlies pick the one you want download then rom manager will reboot phone to recovery and install the rom.
I had to push this through a terminal emulator, but seems to work. Im hoping i can update via the app now as doing it manually is a complete pain in the ass
Can u update nightlies from rom manager if u don't have cwm touch?
