I was wondering if it is possible to export the Phone and Dialer files from the XT883 Rom, and import to XT862?
Both the dialer and phone apps are way better than the one on XT862 (with call recorder & smart dialer).
thanks.
Good question, is anyone tried this one?
Is this possible at all?
I did try swapping the blur dialer and blur phone apks from the xt883, using jrummy16's ultimate backup to wipe data/cache of the existing apks before uninstalling, then copying over the xt883 apks and changing permissions. copied over the xt883 voice recorder app also. the basic functions work, but voice record button is not the voice record button for some reason, pressing it just brings up an empty list. I'm guessing it has something to do with different framework files?
Experimenting with this a little more today since there is some interest in it. Turns out the voice record feature is there once you dial a number and it does record a .amr file, but there doesn't appear to be native support for .amr; when i try to play the file back in the music app it appears to play but no sound. comparing the .so files to try to narrow down which one(s) is/are necessary.
When recording something directly with the voice recorder app, rather than with the dialer, it records in .3gp and is playable. The 'open file' menu option for the recorder doesn't seem to work however, you have to navigate to the 'voice' folder in a file explorer to play a file with the music app, annoying.
There are force closes in the dialer from com.motorola.contacts occassionally also, and swapping out the blur contacts apk hasn't solved the issue.
The empty list i mentioned before appears to be a favorites list for the smart dialer, so it does seem to work, i don't have a favorites list to verify.
I don't care much for being able to record calls, so this seems to be more trouble than it's worth for me, but this info might help someone else who's motivated to get it working.

I recently rooted my Droid 1 with One Click and now have Super User access. From there I grabbed an Milestone Overclocking app to simplify speeding up the phone, (as I have mentioned in other threads I am completely out of my element with phones since they don't have a internal combustion engine) as well as Root Exlorer from the market. Then I went into the world of deleting .apk files that I had read here that were unnecessary and completely safe to remove. Along with those I also got rid of, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Amazon MP3. Since this I have not been able to get past "Getting Driving Directions" on my Navigation. I have checked with others I work with and they had some issues as well with Navigation over the past week. Both Droid 1 and 2 users reported the same issues of screen stall to me. As of Friday one of the users of Droid 2 let me know that his Nav was once again working properly, mine is still not. Did I overdo it on deleting and get rid of something that is causing this problem? My Maps still give proper directions from my location, (no matter where I am at the time of testing) but once going into Nav, stalls. If I did get rid of too many how can I get those files back to my phone so everything works again as desired? I am now left with the following .apk files (.odex files as well):

Alright, I will leave you all alone and continue being a gearhead, drinker and general knuckle-dragger until more questions of me are asked or answers are available, thank you all again for all of your help!
hmm....i delete over 100 apps from delfy but if you delete all of it you will lost may fuctions
You wiped too much. Some apps are both app (as per UI for user) as data providers for certain functionality. You can tell that by looking in Manifest but you have to have enough knowledge to judge. Rule of tumb is to always move stuff off-side (i.e. to SD card folder) and not removing directly as you got no way back in case of failure, especially sometimes you may find out something does not work far too late. I wiped crap like GMail or Navigation and other 3rd party useless apps but I'd suggest to stay away from removing apps that may offer ecosystem functionality. Potential savings (like 200KB) vs time wasted on restoration is simply not worth for most cases.
Corp Cal - Corporate Calendar. Requires Exchange server. Probably safe to remove but again - do you *really* needs that to be removed?
Thank you for the info. Where would I be able to find all the original system apps so that I can add them all back and delete more carefully next time?
Even though we don't have much in the way of Custom ROMS for our beloved XT860 at this point, you can get rid of much of the bloatware and speed up your device quite a bit.
I must give credit to lifeinanalog and his original post on Android Forums regarding bloatware on the Bell XT860.
I am in no way responsible for anything that you do to your phone. While this has worked great for me, it may not work out the same way for you.
You will need root access: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240130
And will need Titanium Backup Pro installed: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro&hl=en
Using Titanium Backup Pro, I have frozen the following Apps. Once you reboot your device, they will no longer appear in your app drawer. You can always bring them back by 'un-freezing' them:

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. If you've frozen something that has caused problems please mention it here. Likewise, if you have frozen other apps not listed above, feel free to share with the rest of us.
Lastly, if this post helped you, feel free to hit the 'Thanks' button.
Honestly I just used Pete's debloat script. Worked fine for me

There are some apps in your list I hesitate to uninstall, I don't really know what they do.
Did you froze them and nothing significant happen or some are only a feature you don't need?

I didn't remove any of the apps that I listed - only froze them.
Have had no problems from freezing any of the apps in the OP.
The 'phone portal' does not affect your ability to make calls. From what I have read it is just another way to connect to the device through your computer. See this post here for more detailed information about it: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/28340
I am not sure what the suggestions apps do, but freezing them hasn't caused any problems.
Zoompass is a mobile payment service and I am assuming zoom mode is related to it. Again no problems from freezing it.

Thanks, didn't realize that the script could also be used on the XT860, thought it was designed for the Verizon D3 only.
Does the script freeze or remove the apps?
I'm hesitant to remove anything because of the lack of an .sbf for the XT860.

You can flash the me863 rom

I tried doing a manual debloat a while back but didn't really see much performance change. That's why I made those changes to the build.prop files (I posted it under general). My phone is pretty fast, but the battery still really sucks. I think we are all impatiently waiting the XT860 update together!
I manually removed about 50MB of apk's in system/app folder of the 5.7.894 ROM. I did not remove Yahoo and Corporate.
I can't sync the FaceBook and/or Twitter avatars with my address book. Did I remove too many?

Just install/reinstall facebook from market, I've had similar problems with FB a few times and that's always fixed it.
That didn't work unfortunately. I did not get the question what I'd like to sync; none, all contacts, or existing contacts.

You need to keep the blur facebook authenticator if you want to sync facebook with your contacts
About de-bloating:
When I uninstall the blur activesync autenticator I get force-close when I select a contact in the contacts menu.
I can confirm that I do not have the ability to sync Facebook contacts after removing the authenticator (I never synced them to begin with)
I am not have any force close issues with my contacts...

APK names?
Is it possible to get this list of apps with the names of the APK files? I plan on removing them by renaming the apk files, but it isn't always obvious what the mapping between APK and app name is...

Just updated to ota ics yesterday from stock rooted gb. Used voodoo rootkeeper and undid all my manual debloat before upgrading. Everything seems ok except for this. Volume is turned up, vibrate works, and it's not set to silent. I wish i could link the ringtone and notifications volume, but thats another thread. Ringtones DO work when i get a call, and even my reminder app (Missed Call Reminder) plays the right sound when i have a missed sms. I havent tried any alternate sms apps like handscent or go, since i dont need any of that stuff.
I have disabled quite a lot of crap via the stock apps control panel, but none of that should have anything to do with this... if necessary i could put together a list of what i've disabled, but since im typing this on the phone, that would take forever.
Any ideas? (And any ideas on how to link notification and ringtone volumes so i can adjust both at the same time using the volume rocker, just like i could in gb?)
just discovered this morning (when trying to update my ad-blocking hosts file) that voodoo did not restore root. went back into rootkeeper and tried to restore, and even though it says "root su restored" doesn't check the boxes that say "device rooted" or "root permission granted" (other 3 boxes are checked) - so basically it failed. i'll try to re-root the phone tonight (can't do it using my work PC) but i doubt that will fix this problem.
if it matters, here's what i've disabled using the apps control panel:
amazon kindle
facebook
google play books
google play movies
google play music
google+
mog music
motoactv
motocast id
music store
my music
my verizon mobile
nfl mobile
quickoffice
slacker radio
slingbox
social location
swype
v cast tones
verizon video
video calling
videosurf
vz navigator
i used to use a custom notification sound from the internal storage, but tried switching to several of the stock ones (tweeters, captain's log, caff. snake, etc) but those don't work either. they play when i select them from the list, and when i get a reminder tone from the reminder app, but the only thing that happens when i get a text is that the phone vibrates (i have it set to vibe + ring).
i don't really want to do a master reset, but i'm getting the feeling that's probably going to be the next step. i have tibu, i just don't want to spend the time doing all that.
I wondered if anyone else has noticed the sheer amount of soft dependencies that the S-apps have on each other, especially S-Voice. For example S-voice can't make a memo without S-notes and can't retrieve news without Flipboard.
Many other examples exist. S-Notes has options in the settings to sync with Samsung cloud, even if the Samsung cloud syncing apps/services are removed, even the cloud services seem to have some soft dependencies with Dropbox.
All the S-apps will of course function for the most part on their own, but might have such issues or orphan settings, something I just don't like.
A lot of TW ROMS are debloating by removing some of these apps, but I don't know if everyone realizes what I just mentioned.
Personally I would prefer just the Samsung camera, but I have heard (though not tried without) that even it is dependent on S-Voice. If this is so and if it is possible I would hope at some point to see a modded version of the Camera that makes it fully independent.

No, that is not so. I have nearly every Samsung component disabled, including S Voice, and I use the Samsung camera with no problem... maybe there's some feature in there that doesn't work that I've just never hit, but generally, the camera works fine on its own.
Voice Control of Camera, Incoming Calls, Camera and Music are all Dependant on SVoice

I tried a few hours ago, the camera freezes and crashes if you try to turn on voice commands in the camera settings. As long as this is not hit it works, but I hate that they would make the option to say "Shoot" to take a picture dependent on another app.

If they didn't do that than every app you mention would be twice the size because they would have to include the code for those options in each of the individual app.

Exactly, the S4 wasnt made for removing system apps or modifying the system. It was meant to be used the way it is out of the box which is why voice commands for music, camera, alarm and answering calls is dependant on S-Voice... easier to integrate dependancy unto another app versus integrating a sepaeare feature into every one of those lol

Ok, well, we have an interesting discrepancy here them... I just confirmed I have S Voice disabled... I then went into Camera, turned voice control on (it was off to start) and was able to take a picture by saying "Cheese"... no crash or anything, it worked as expected.
I also confirmed I can also still receive incoming calls... I don't use the music app and have it disabled so I didn't check that... so something doesn't jive with what you guys are apparently seeing. Maybe there's something else the camera specifically is dependent on and not S Voice *directly*?
For reference, here's what I currently have disabled... I think 2 or 3 of them I did through Titanium, the rest are just standard "system" disabled... I also have a few other things Greenified, but this is just what's outright disabled...

I moved the S-Voice apk out of the system folder when I tried it, I wouldn't think that it would make a difference versus freezing it though, but maybe that is possible? I didn't do a reboot when I tried, but I would think that if it had no relation to it, it shouldn't matter?
If I disable Svoice and try and take a pic with voice it force closes.

If you have a Bluetooth headset, and you try to use to with LG's HORRIBLE voice assistant, it recognizes your commands about 1% of the time; totally not acceptable.
On other phones, Google Now comes up when you activate voice command; on this phone, I have tried EVERYTHING, but I can't get the LG voice command to not be the default action when I activate a voice command.
Has any one found a way to change this, either with other software, or by making some system changes?
On kitkat, on T Mobile, using a Plantronics Voyage Edge
Thanks!
I simply swipe up from the bottom and use Google Now. You probably can't change LG's voice assistant to use Google Now's speech engine.

There MAY be a way to do it kind of like how you can change the voice of Google Nav from the standard one to like Darth Vader and whatnot. Idk if anyone has attempted this BUT it might be worth a shot. maybe the actual application can be modified to reroute to Google Now instead of the base LG application. i might poke around to see what i can find
thanks; there are a couple of apps in the play store that used to do this for me with my HTC One Maxx, but they dont do anything for this phone; there are about 5 or 6 files that are related to LG's horrible "voice mate" app, but, with no way to restore my 4.4 rom if deleting any important files screws things up, I am hesitant to start deleting system files.
