Hi everyone! I just installed on my galaxy mini the Old Market app.
It's an application that gives you the choice to use the old market instead of the new one.
It presents a screen with 2 buttons with whom you can chose Old or New Market.
Once you make your choice it asks you to reboot the phone to apply the changes made.
Long story short, first time i used it, I selected the old market, rebooted as requested, and entered the market. It was the old one, I tried to dowload some apps but, even though the download went on correctly, once the app began installing, the phone reboots and no app is installed.
I tried to go back to the new market, removed the app that caused the problem, tried everything but nothing solved the problem.
even if I try to install an apk file stored on the sd through root explorer or es explorer, the phone reboots.
of course I can't re-install the market...
can anybody help me?
the phone is a Galaxy Mini With CM7 RC5
Thanks!!!

Hi
I have HTC Legend
My Legend had Market, but when I replaced the ROM to Arabic ROM I didn't find the Market .
I Tried to instal it and the Market installed Successfully and whene I search I fine what i want, but whene I click "instal" it showing (FC)
is there any way to install it ??
Try a factory reset. The Modaco custom rom lost the market on reboot for me, factory reset fixed it. Might not work, but it's worth a try, right?
it's not working
The official ROM (Arabic ROM) didn't have Market.
you can install an alternative market like SLIDEME
download it here: http://slideme.org/sam2.apk
go in adb:
adb install /PATHTO/sam2.apk
Thanx
but you Know it's not enough
I mean I didn't find many Apps.
thanx any way
You could try to taking the rom open it with dsixda Android Kitchen add Vending.apk and see what happens!
Try the attached file.

the thing is i really don't wanna root the device... i wanna keep it stock.
any way i pulled the market app off my g1 phone, so can it be adb pushed and installed on a non rooted device or can i use htc sync suite to do it ?
ok i think i'm half way there,
i found htc sync for windows on the htc legend sd card "the one that came in the box"
i installed it and it went smoothly. after installation completed i have the option to install apps thru the htc sync...
as i said earlier i extracted the market app from my g1 running cm6.
so i went ahead and give it a shot trying to install this app but there was an error on the phone saying "error parsing the package". so any ideas

you must check the (Unknown sources) box, you can find it in Settings/Applications/Unknown sources on your phone.
Ahh it was my bad, I tried the market updater apk rather than vending apk... anyway I got the vending apk and it didn't work at first coz of diffrent version. So I asked another member here if he can supply it and thank him very much he did then I used htc sync software to install it & yay here it is on my legend but it keeps crashing when trying to download...'ll invistigate and see

it will not work like that, you must first root your Legend and just flash the (market_signed.zip) without changing your room.
only then it will work, i tried it and got it working on my Legend.

I think you should read a thread about how to root your legend by modaco. try to search in this forum first
then, you can try one of custom ROM which you prefer (for example: azure) and don't forget to flash google apps which can be select if you download this ROM using ROM Manager, or you can download it separately.
after that, you should have market as one of you apps in your phone
cmiiw
Will this work? I think you need more than just Vending.apk because Market needs to connect to Google to verify the user. Only then you can access and download apps from market.
And of course you need the Google framework to be present as well.. and gmail since the phone needs a Google account to access market..

Right. Because Vending.apk can work on itself. Its connected to a number of apk to make it work like it should. So unless you know every single required apk to make Market works, I suggest you flash Gapps which contains the whole Google apps and just delete the ones that you don't use. Or maybe just leave it there, your choice.
I too want only the Market but I can't find what's what and I've been searching for months!
This has never happened before...so I dunno what to do. So I had an Xbox app I actually paid for because I was given a credit to the android market and since flashing the current gingerbread rom I cannot for the life of me locate it. Its not in my downloads in the market no can I locate it in the search for the market. Now I think I might have to enable certain permissions so my phone sees it in the market maybe. I'm lost here I never use titanium backup because I only have a few set apps I use that I know and this has just got me goin up a wall.
It does show up on my g1 running 1.6 though. Maybe the firmware isn't letting me get it.

Go back to your previous rom, find the .apk in your file manager, send
It to yourself via Gmail. Then go to your updated rom, open Gmail and push install. That's what I do. Try it.

Hi,
I am new to this forum and I hope I will find help here.
After I updated to 2.2 I removed the mtpApplication.apk from my phone because it crashed sometimes and was annoying...
I kept a backup of the apk and now I would like to restore the application to update to 2.3.3 via kies. I moved the apk back to system/app but I dont know how to get it running!
does anybody know how I can restore/start this application? I would like to update using kies and therefore it is necessary. Before I removed the app it was started on startup by system.
any suggestions on this?
Download nitrality from the market. That'll let you redownload and install it, along with other goodies.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i assume you are rooted, if no error popped up when you haved moved to /system/app, then select kies in USB settings. and connect to the system which has kies installed with proper drivers for your phone. this would start the app.
@ lycan_codex
I also had the same thought after copying back the apk to system/app, but the application is not coming up although kies is set in usb settings.
@ lttldvl,
I've downloaded nitrality from the market and I could successfully restore the mtp app!!! thanks a lot!! However, it would be interesting why the app is starting, where it registered to launch at startup or when kies is running!?
It should only start when you connect the phone to the PC. If its starting before that... I'm not sure how to correct that aside from task killing regularly.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I dont really care whether the process is running, I only need it to get the new 2.3.3 from kies. Everything looks good, kies provides me with the new update!
thank you very much!
You're very welcome

so i dont know if a lot of people know, but there is a game called "third blade". I really wanted to try this game out but it shows an error everytime i click download.
it says insufficient space for download. which is ridiculous cause i have a lot of space left. rebooting didnt help, and this is the only app that does it... Any ideas on how to fix this? thanks

Try going into settings, applications, manage applications, all, then find the Market and clear data.
I've also had luck rebooting into recovery mode and clearing the cache, but it might be the same thing.
none of those worked...
i guess ill just not play this game

This has been cleared a lil while ago under Insufficient Space for Market Apps, also there's another thread about this in the Themes and Apps section as well (by mistake) under [Q] Android Market 3.X. Good thing ppl like to read
i am using version 3.0.27
so can one of you please explain how you get the old market back?
sorry for being so stupid...

Here's the Market apk I pulled from Cognition 5 Beta 2. It is Market 2.3.4
Just copy to ur phone, go into Titanium Backup Pro and go to the Backup/Restore and find Market Updater and tap it and Freeze it. Then back out and go to ur My Files app and find the Old Market.apk, select, ok, and Install. That should do it.

I am using stock ICS, upgraded through KIES. But still i'm not able to install applications that have been downloaded as .apk. The install button in the installation screen doesn't seem to respond. But once i boot into recovery and wipe data, i get to install once and the problem is back again. Can anyone please help me out. is this common with ICS or am i the only one at stake ?
It's not common in ICS..
Anyways Be careful
Data wipe in ICS is not recommended...
It can be dangerous...
Do you know any reason why im not able to install applications?

Have you ubticked allow install from unknown sources in settings?
Are you sure the apk you are installing is compatible with ICS??
Maybe that are made for GB..
Obviously yes !!
Yea i had that install from unknown sources Checked. Not able to install any apps, the Install button remains dull. i had the same problem with AOSP ICS stunner also. And now the same with stock ICS.
I've got the exact same problem! ===and solved it ===
I'm on ICS stock, rooted and the install button does not respond.
Luckily i have an application (DX Toolbox) installed that allows me to install apk's. It uses a different interface.
Build in explorer, Root Explorer and ES File Explorer all use the main install screen with the 'defective' button.
I'm sorry to hear you've got this problem too, but also happy, cuz i honestly thought i was becoming retarded...
======Edit=======
I found out what app caused my troubles!
It was my screenfilter (got a yellowish screen tint, so it's always running). Once turned off everything worked as it should.
Pfff......was so close to getting retarded
Back in time. .
I rolled back to GB cuz i really got frustrated . Ll update and see if things get going better. And would you be kind enough to lemme know what screen filter you were using as i use ScreenFilter by haxor industry. and are you sure the app causes the problem ?

Ok, you need root for this & also a root explorer.
Open your file manager navigate to etc/init.d/ and if you see the file 01mvdalvik move it to /mnt/sdcard/ then clear the cache and data for Play and reboot into recovery. Wipe your dalvik and cache in recovery and then reboot.
You will have much less internal memory after this. The script you moved (if it is there) tells the OS to move the dalvik to the system partition instead of the user partition. This causes problems with Play sometimes.
hi had exact same problem I to frustrated again I just uninstalled brightness apk(lux) than onwards installation working fine that's weired and I use lux app for auto brightness see wheather u installed any auto brightness. uninstall and check it

Will Check It out.
Thanks guys for your replies. Currently downloading stock ICS. will Upgrade and check out the "installation process".
If you have screen filter running then you'll have to disable it. Somehow install button doesn't respond when its enabled while everything else works just fine.

I'm using 'filter your screen' app by Kovit. But this issue is caused by all kinds of apps that put some kind of layer on your screen. When i disable my filter i can install just fine, so I'm 100% sure this is the cause.
If you do a search for 'packet installer not working' you find similar threads. That's what i did after typing here
Hope it all works out for you, sorry you had to reinstall.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but I also had this issue -- I was running screenadjuster because I also have a yellow tint on my Samsung Galaxy S3, and I couldn't install APKs until I disabled the screen filter. I will file a bug report with the author
