For those captivate users who are running ICS, just a heads up that Google Chrome Beta is in the Market.
Chrome Beta Link
Market says it's not compatible wit my phone! Running Doc's v2 (which is awesome). I found a random .apk online for the beta and it just force closes. Anyone else unable to use Chrome on their ICS Captivate?

Running on THS build 15 no prob here
I also have it running on Team ICSSGS 4.1 release. Its fast but a little buggy. Ive had it force close a few times today.
Im running in ICSSGS 4.1.
Seems buggy. Force closes and takes long to load. Stock browser seems fine. Just thought Id share anyway.

Same boat here. Stock browser/UI flys on 4.1 but chrome is still a work in progress.
Running it on weui 6.6
Running it on THS ICS. Very slow to load initially but speeds up once open but takes up a TON of space. Back to stock browser for me until it lightens the load and flies like it does on PC
A bit sluggish and takes up plenty of room, but the features are totally worth it

Works 100% fine for me on THS B15, now my default browser.
Just Installed so far so good
Thanks for the heads up on this app.

So I just updated my non-rooted Samsung Captivate w/ At&t using this method
the leaked 2.2 froyo build
Everything works fine and it runs fine but when I download apps from the marketplace they download very slow. The marketplace app itself works fine though and I can youtube and websurf fast. Anyone know why downloading apps is reallllyyy slow?

As stated in the general disscussion.... clear market cache.
Also it gets better once the market updates to the latest....then the phone also seams to work a bit quicker after a couple days. The quirks in that rom were enough to stray me to Andromeda 1.1.
Please don't double post.
Update for the dolphin browser in the market that appears to fix the force close issue on the Xoom
Thanks for the heads up! updated & testing now.
The lag with dolphin HD is even worse than stock browser and it crashed once in the 5 minutes I used it.
new update seems to have made it more stable. I'm liking it

I agree. I can actually use it now. Before it crashed so much it was unuseable, for me anyway. There are still a few bugs but this is a great improvement.
wifi only xoom
the force closes have been sorted but the lag is still almost too much...some way to go methinks.
having said that i justposted the above message and the bloody dolphinbrowser decided to close...not force close but it still closes'
I was able to fap to completion on my favorite porn site with this new version.. coudln't on the last one always force closed
Hello everybody!
i m on icssgs 4.1 with devil 14.2 kernel and everything is going fine except that google chrome keeps on FCing everytime i open it. (I m not in US, maybe this could be useful in solving the prob).
The first time i installed the app it worked for 2 minutes then i closed it and never worked again, i ve tried clearing cache and data reboot, clear dalvik cache and cache partition from recovery but nothing worked..i tried to reinstall it but nothing..i saw that also some of you have the same problem..any idea on how to solve this?

Hey, I had a similar problem. Ironically enough it stopped force closing when i switched to Semaphore's ICS 0.8.0 kernel. I don't think it really specific I just found it works for me now
hi, i believe we need to wait few weeks for a better and stable version. i think it will be better than opera
I have the same. Opera also just open and close.

Thnks..yes we should wait a stabler version but it would be nice to try it and i see a lot of people don t have any prob so there should be a way..
Regarding semaphore 0.8 how is it?comparison with devil?maybe i could try it especially since the reboot-when-plugged bug is fixed..but devil 14.2 is sooo goood

i really loved devil as well, I am in the process of really testing out semaphore although i liked stratosk's older kernels too... i will let you know when I get a better perspective on it
EDIT
Have it working perfectly on ICSSGS 4.2 and semaphore 0.8.0, all syncs work as well (i.e. with my laptop tabs)
any fix available now?
I'm on Chrome Beta as a default browser, very fast , synchronizing with both PC and Laptop. Made browsermark benchmark and result is 91095 which is pretty high.
ICSSGS 4.1
Devils kernel 14.2 LED
Doesn't work
Doesn't work for me either (ICSSGS RC4.2, Semaphore 0.8.0).
Something you did made it work?
Maybe freezing the stock browser? (tried, didn't work for me)
EDIT:
WORKING!
Uninstalled and reinstalled. It's WORKING!
Ok now with 4.2 and devil 14.2 for no apparent reason it works..but it s super laggy and slow and it also stays opened in the background after opening it..is it normal?

I am using team ics sgs rc4.2 with devil 1.0 kernel. Now chrome working perfect and quiet smooth.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
After a while it s now smoother..but still less than opera to my eye..and a bit slower..let s see the new releases!whats your opinion on speed and smoothness?the sync with desktop browser is super cool and perfectly working btw

I can't get it to work on teamhacksung's build 16. Is there any way to fix it?
try to wipe and reinstall
my experience on cm9. /datadata partition is too full.try moving some of your larger apps to SD card, reboot should work good.

+1 it's horrible for me
Dolphine HD was soooo smooth try it
I've installed it a few times, but got a force close each time. Now I've tried again via wifi and now it works perfectly!
I installed the latest 20120608 CM9 from samiam here : http://android.sphsolutions.net/Encore/Nightlies/CM9/
Everything seems to be working except the default internet browser seems to crash/lockup on just about any website I go to. I end up having to reboot the Nook. Anyone else seeing this? Will a different build fix this?
I also tried Chrome and it does not seem to work at all for me. Chrome application starts but no web pages will load. Doesn't crash/lockup Nook. I think I had tried Chrome the day it was released (using a March 2012 samiam CM9 build) and had same issue.
Thanks!!!
I'm running the latest AOKP and see it as well. Saw it on the CM9 builds too. Frustrating.

I love the stock browser in CM9 on the Touchpad. The side swipe controls and the way it handles tabs is just awesome. Why this isn't part of Chrome mobile I can't figure out, the controls are perfection in my opinion.
Can I take the .apk and put it on my ICS phone and it work? It's an HTC Amaze, T-Mobile, rooted of course. Anything else I'd need to copy over ? Any chance this works or is this a pipe dream?
Thanks as always XDA world for your thoughts and suggestions.
xScope browser apk it has tabs and swype left to see previous pages. There is also a pro version in market.

Awesome, I'll check it out. I've tried a ton of the browsers, but never heard of this one. Thanks for the heads up.
Stock ICS browser is the same on all devices running ICS.

Well, that's not entirely true. My HTC Amaze has a stock browser with the filename "browser.apk", but it doesn't look or work anything like the stock browser in CM9, it kind of sucks. Most importantly it is missing the awesome side-swipe function buttons from the CM9 version, which I like quite a bit. And like Chrome, it can sync in your desktop bookmarks. Also, Chrome mobile sucks on this phone, very buggy.
I went ahead and tried using the CM9 stock browser in place of the stock browser in the HTC ICS version, it worked well and I can't find any issues.
Here is what I did:
- On the Amaze I renamed "browser.apk" to "!browser.apk!"
- I copied the "browser.apk" file from my Touchpad into \system\apps
- Reboot and done
Works fine as far as I can tell.... but I don't know if this broke something somewhere else that I'm not aware of yet.
