So I just updated my non-rooted Samsung Captivate w/ At&t using this method
the leaked 2.2 froyo build
Everything works fine and it runs fine but when I download apps from the marketplace they download very slow. The marketplace app itself works fine though and I can youtube and websurf fast. Anyone know why downloading apps is reallllyyy slow?

As stated in the general disscussion.... clear market cache.
Also it gets better once the market updates to the latest....then the phone also seams to work a bit quicker after a couple days. The quirks in that rom were enough to stray me to Andromeda 1.1.
Please don't double post.

Where can I get this for my gtab? I don't see it in the market.
It won't be in the Market for a long time.
Side load it from this page:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#ARMv7
Beta05pre is the current version. I like it quite a lot so far.

It was in the market for me this morning. I am running Vegan 5.1. I am actually running the Pre beta 5 from the website though.
Note that the link is to the Nightly builds. Don't be surprised if you get an update notice immediately.
I'd recommend adding a shortcut to your GTab desktop for that link or use DropBox and a computer to download and sync it with your tablet instead of using the updater, as I've been unable to get that working properly.
I found it in the market yesterday. Seems pretty slow, and I haven't found a way to keep it from using mobile sites. Most browsers have a way to change the user agent. Haven't found it.
The version in the market is older and much slower. The version in that link has many speed improvements.
There is an add on that well let you spoof the browser also.
I am posting from it right now in fact.
Im using the nightly build, everything is fast. The sync feature is nice too.
Only bad thing is you can't tell it your using a tablet, so it chooses the mobile site a lot instead of the full sites.
I've had good luck with the beta FireFox provided by the link. Flash does not work though. The flash player (beta) only seems to work with the stock web browser. Everything else (FF,Opera,Dolphin) crash or do not display correctly. It's not really smooth in restarting, it has to force close if it's been open for some reason. I have not found a way of setting the default to open with other browsers installed. A pop-up with all installed keeps coming up to open. Default browser settings are grayed out in the control panel.
I love Slacker for the ability to cache stations, but I've had nothing but problems on two devices running Froyo roms.
Problem with my G-Tablet running Vegan 5.1.x Slacker Radio app starts and just goes to a blank screen. This is the same problem I had with my Nook Color running a Froyo Rom. On my nook rooted 2.1 the app ran great.
Can anyone else give this app a shot (it is free, but you'd have to set up an account at slacker.com). I'd also be interested in if this will run on the Gingerbread roms or even on TNT Lite?
Any help would be appreciated, this is almost a must have app for me.
Same here but Pandora works well.

Pandora doesn't cache though. What rom are you running? Anyone confirm this on TNT?
I actually started a thread about this already.

I'm running Calkulin's rom and slacker doesn't work. Someone else said they're running tnt lite and it doesn't work either. I might try to find an older version of the app and see if that works.
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to subscribe to yours. I'll try to alert a mod to kill this one and we'll use you thread.

I have a Samsung galaxy S i9000 with gingerbread 2.3.4 installed and rooted and nothing else installed.
When i go in to gallery to view my pictures and i swype to go from one to the next one it does not move smooth like it did in froyo it`s not a fluid move its a interrupted movement. Did not have this problem on froyo. i re-installed the os powered off the phone stopped most apps and services but the problem did not go away. Any suggestions ? It did this before and after i rooted it. did it on fresh install of 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 on 2.2 froyo did not had this problem. Any suggestions ? except the one that says go back to froyo ?
Well, just a suggestion, use Picturen Lite or Quickpic.
I know this doesn't actually answers your question, but the stock gallery is not that great.
I use QuickPic. It's without doubt the fastest and least cluttered gallery app out there. It's free but would pay for it! Give it a try

For those captivate users who are running ICS, just a heads up that Google Chrome Beta is in the Market.
Chrome Beta Link
Market says it's not compatible wit my phone! Running Doc's v2 (which is awesome). I found a random .apk online for the beta and it just force closes. Anyone else unable to use Chrome on their ICS Captivate?

Running on THS build 15 no prob here
I also have it running on Team ICSSGS 4.1 release. Its fast but a little buggy. Ive had it force close a few times today.
Im running in ICSSGS 4.1.
Seems buggy. Force closes and takes long to load. Stock browser seems fine. Just thought Id share anyway.

Same boat here. Stock browser/UI flys on 4.1 but chrome is still a work in progress.
Running it on weui 6.6
Running it on THS ICS. Very slow to load initially but speeds up once open but takes up a TON of space. Back to stock browser for me until it lightens the load and flies like it does on PC
A bit sluggish and takes up plenty of room, but the features are totally worth it

Works 100% fine for me on THS B15, now my default browser.
Just Installed so far so good
Thanks for the heads up on this app.
