[Q] LG Optimus 2x Vs Samsung Galaxy S Plus - LG Optimus 2x

Hi!
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S Plus and im thinking of selling it and purchase a LG Optimus 2x.... would it be a good decission?
Pros I see in SGS+ is really good screen and maybe a bit better quadrant results
Cons: Not that big community, no 4.0 support, no CM or MIUI support
I want to see your opinions since i still can get a great deal for my SGS+ and use that money for changing to LG2x.....
Which are the quadrant and antutu results for this phone? Would this be a good change?
Thanks for your opinion!!

heya
first of all, i have a question, cause i'm a bit curious: if there is a dedicated Q&A section, why post [Q] topic in the General area ? trying to understand the logic behind that.
secondly, y u no search ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101123&highlight=sgs&page=14 first half of the page answers your exact question (well, discussion masked as a question).
c'mon, you can do better than that, search first .. ask questions later. hope it helps

I see what you did there
And yes, like he said, that thread has it all answered (as it was me that posed that same question). And I must say I don't regret going for the O2X not one bit, it has been impressing me everyday. And it's funny actually, I don't have ANY of the problems people mention here in the forums. No random reboots, battery life is good, everything's great

The Galaxy S+ is a single core, on the contrary the o2x is a dualcore...no chance for the sgs+...the sgs has also a no-flash 5mpx hd camera, the o2x has a 8mpx full hd camera with led flash....
Cons of the o2x: bad stock firmwares by lg (it has a lot of bugs), but just flash cyanogenmod 7 and the phones becomes speedy and pretty stable...
The o2x will be updated to ICS, instead of the sgs+....
Who is the winner?

Agreed with this one. I already had Acer Iconia A500 and amazed with its speed. O2X has the same muscle with Iconia (dual-core Tegra 2) so didin't have any doubt about performance. And it proved.
The only cons is the LG's lack of software support. Thankfully, lots of alternative ROMs are available!

I bought a LG O2x and gave the SGS+ to my wife... i hope i made the right decision (she needed a new phone anyway and is not interested in modding or flashing roms...)

More functional? I don't think that. The CM settings are very impressive, and rich in function. The CM7 is much better from every aspect.

LG opt 2x and nexus s. PLease advice..

hi.. i'm from nexus s..
i'm really reconsidering to buy LG optimus 2x because i can trade it with LG O2x without paying a single extra cent...
I want to ask all your opinion.. Is it worth it to trade google direct support with LG opt 2x superior hardware ?
what are the plus and cons of LG o2x. ?
How is the devs support with LG O2X..
Thanks in advance
when the O2x gets a stable and usable CM7 and/or a really good 2.3.3 stock ROM, it's worth the hassle. until then, stay with your Nexus S.
Thanks, what are the known issue in Optimus 2x ? Nexus S itself is not stable, still rebooting sometimes in 2.3.4 and have blank screen sometimes..
hmm, i have 24 hours to decide whether i will trade in or not..
any other opinion ?

24hrs should be enough to read the forum
I had an i9023 for a bit, the P990 is better in my opinion (else I would still have the NS) stock ROM is terrible, but CM7 is not. It's still buggy as it's early days, but gets better with each nightly.
Have a look around this forum and you will see lol.
TBH I havent had any real issue with mine other than my sd card coming up as Unavailable and more battery drain/very hot where the sd card sits because of this issue. As long as you do a soft reset (holding PWR + VOL UP), it sorts it out.
I had a Desire before and have had this for about 3 weeks and couldnt be happier with it.. Sadly, it seems there are a lot of people having issues with the standard rom.

so both of u saying LG stock ROM is unstable and custom ROM is much better than stock ROM. And currently it seems like CM7 nightly is the best choice around.
Is installing CM7 will automatically upgrade O2X into gingerbread ? because as far as i know, CM7 is based on 2.3.3 (in nexus s i directly jump from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 after installing CM7)..
CM7 is currently 2.3.4 (GRJ22)

Well, you probably already bought your phone, I just want to say that I coming from a Nexus S to Optimus 2X and, IMO, was the best exchange I made. Nexus S is great, but o2x it's even better.

[Q]Worth buying now and rocking Cyanogenmod?

Hi guys,
Right now I have a Desire HD running Cyanogenmod and it is sweet but Optimus 2x is better hardware.
All I would like to know is Cyanogenmod stable enough on this phone to be a daily user yet?
Any show stopping bugs or things I should be aware of before I make a purchase?
I don't want to run the standard Lg rom, and the fact Cyanogen has one is 90% of the reason I want one. So should I buy now or wait a bit until there is a stable release?
Thanks for your opinions.

Why buy a new phone when u got a desire HD. Stick to the desire and wait untill the nexus 3 will be released.

I like it and would switch your DHD with an O2X, but its your call, not everyone likes this device.
Basically yes, CM7 is being used by a lot of people daily including me since build 0, and by arcee long before us all.

O2x easy go for it..............
waste of money to switch unless you are that desperate to play HD games
I tried many devices and if u r a gamer. Ur option is only atrix and o2x. I went with o2x because the ips display and at that time atrix was locked.
U can get one noelw and enjoy it. Then by year end go with iPhone 5 or nexus 3. If ur not a gamer then get the gs2.

I'm seriously considering the LG Optimus 2X as well. The prices of this phone recently came down in India. The only thing thats holding me back is the fact that it still sports Froyo as opposed to Gingerbread in similar speced devices. But I'm quite happy that Cyanogenmod has my back with a nightly for this phone
Should I make the switch from Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 (SLCD version) to the LG? The other phone that I'm considering is the Nexus S. How stable is the Cyanogenmod nightly?

I would say go for it. The nightlies are very stable, and the O2X is actually going to be included in the 7.1.0 RC. Using the O2X on CM7 #56 for a while now, and performance, battery life and almost everything is working like a whiz. I have not actually encountered any major problems, such as the famous phone freeze. The phone is very snappy as well, and I don't see any reason why you should not make the change. =D

I tried FR17 Fear edition before the CM nightlies, and I would say that CM, being CM, was much snappier than FR17, but it is entirely up to individual preference though. For the RC, cyanogen has personally posted on twitter that he was hoping for it to come out by this weekend, but no promises though.
One more (I know I'm asking too many...I apologize ) How does the O2X rate against the HTC Incredible S? Will the CM ROM+LG O2X perform better than the HTC ones? I do realize that HTC phones are single core...but have more RAM than the O2X.
o2x has a tegra 2 mate. In day to day usage there will be little to no difference but the o2x will destroy games.
Personally I've decided to wait until Christmas as further research has led me to believe that there isn't a great deal of benefit from being on dual cores at this stage. There is little to none apps which utilize them properly.

Hmm... It really depends on what you want with the phone. If its for gaming, then the O2X wins the Incredible S hands down due to Tegra. However, for daily normal tasks, both might be equally fast(not sure about this, haven't tried an Incredible S yet), as Android still does not fully support multi-threaded tasks, making the O2X's dual cores not being fully utilized. However, I think that in the near future, once dual-core support comes out in probably Ice Cream Sandwich, the difference between these two phones will be greater. About RAM, although the HTCs have more RAM, the O2X already has enough RAM as it is for about anything. So I don't really see why the bigger RAM will really matter.
Cool, thanks cha0sh3r0 & dr.m0x I'm not a gamer but a business user of Androids. So gaming performance is not a criteria for me. The reasons for going in for O2X are quite a few.
1. Its around 2000 Rs (45 USD) cheaper than the Incredible S.
2. It has Cyanogenmod support...Incredible S has a locked bootloader (which may change)
3. O2X has dual-core which future proofs me when Ice Cream Sandwich comes out...either as an official LG or Cyanogenmod release.
I'm done with Samsungs and their cheap plastic builds which I really hate. HTC phones seem to have some weird "death grip" issues. LG O2X seems like a good bet for me

No prob dude
I have more faith in the community to provide help and support as opposed to a company, thats why I'm glad that Cyanogen is around
Besides, being an exclusive Linux user (yes, even at work)...hacking and modding comes easy to me
Most of the comments here are spot on. But remember CM7 doesnt support BlueTooth and A2SD. That is a basic function and the only reason many of us use Madacos. Including me

I dont think so.. the neo looks better and has a much better software support i guess. the neo will get the new android ice cream sandwich really soon. LG instead has a worse update policy (the users had to wait a really long time until they got gingerbread).
Go for optimus 2x.

Well, it depends...
If you want an out of the box working smartphone... stick with the Sony.
If you like experimenting with your phone and install custom ROMs... go for the LG.
It has pretty good hardware for its price. And works like a charm with CM or MIUI.

Definitely go for it

Very happy O2X user here too. CyanogenMod FTW!
To counter what everyone says: NONONONONO.
I honestly don't think there's a worse device to go for right now than the O2X. Sure the Dev work is good, but why go for a phone with zilch official support? The Neo's going to get ICS, I believe. The O2X might take 8 years to get it. Stay were you are.
Someone offered me a neo for my o2x once. I didnt even take the time to respond.
Off course you should go for the o2x, because it is an awesome phone!
Granted, the stock software sucks monkey balls, but custom rom support is way better than the neo. Once you put cyanogenmod on it, you can tweak it so its just how you like it. Thats why i love this phone. SE sucks imo for locking their bootloaders.

I have to agree. Cyanogenmod is very very good on this one Actually I can buy what phone I would like. Nexus og S2 or whatever but I'm gonna stick with 2X for a while. Why? Because its so goddamn fun phone to have with all the dev's work here!

im so happy with it, i had xperia x10, galaxy tab, and if when i bougth lg 2x LG would have been spending $ 150 more of i must, but i cant so i go for 2x and a friend of mine has the ss2 and the lg doents ask much may be on multitasking but im not using ten apps at time im hapi muiu user, cm is good too but i like the tools on miui, limit data and those stuff
do the swap before the neo owner realises he is retarded...
I have an O2x while my sister has a Neo, both phones are good, but my O2X is faster, has better screen, and is better supported in fact of custom roms.
On the other hand, Neo looks better and has better stock rom support (and ICS soon)...
Summing everything i'll go for the O2X anyway
Hardware > Software

Well I had the same delima between optimus 2x and xperia Neo , go for optimis 2x you won't be disappointed , and install cm7.1 asap because LG skin is crap

worth buying WEEELLLL for me it was .... i got one for a lil less than 100euros, for a 2011 high class smartphone its golden (all accessory original box delivery inclued)
funniest i had a GT-I9000 he died, but the cheapest i could find beside that P990 was merely 50/100 euros more ... weird for a 2yrs old middle class smartphone (still the SGS is a wonderfull phone (normal one not S+ or other)
worth it? definitely!
the only thing that bugged me was Nvidia policy wich make the GT-I9000 more lively when it come to custom roms but XDA proved i can get ICS delicacy on mu P990 too
I managed to pick one up for £120 on eBay the other month. Quite chuffed with it so far. It's faster than my previous devices and the screen is much nicer.
I'm currently running Gingerbread MIUI but fancy trying something different.

is it worth it? it all depends on what you wanna do with it, how much patience you have with LG's (lack of) support, and whether you enjoy flashing nightlies/kangs that are still under development.
I bought mine second hand at a similar price as yours, and for me, yes, it was definitely worth it. It's my first smartphone and for the combination of reasons stated above, I have quickly became a flashholic and frequent visitor to the xda. As a results, I've learned a lot about Android phones and became a passionate loyal fan of them, as well as a grateful supporter if the awesome developers in these forums.
So, again, it depends on why you're shopping for one but it was worth it for me.

100eur it is very good deal for the performace which you will get.. Overclock up to 1.5ghz, smooth tegra2 cpu, on stock rom I had weak battery, now i use tamasek's rom and on 1.3ghz it is so much better, but still best results on CM9, but it is useless without a cam and hardware support, so if you want to wait for official ICS release, you should get it. But keep in mind, try to never drop it, it is definitely not shock proof

I said JB in general, mind you once/if the drivers are released for ICS, JB isn't that big a step up. Even if the right drivers aren't released, JB roms should come out for O2X once the source code is out in 2 weeks, whether some things work or not!
For that sort of price you could do a lot worse, I've had a rough relationship with my o2x with it being full of bugs but it's worth it for those times that it does what it's supposed to. The only word of warning is it needs flashing, the stuff LG put on there isn't great so i've warned a few friends off knowing i'd be there technical support when they inevitably brick it, but as your on here I'm sure you'll be fine with this side of stuff.

If LG launched ICS, the devs here on XDA would certainly make a modified version of that ROM, and then we would unleash the phone's real power...
...but since the people at LG are a bunch of retards, I don't think it's worth waiting for an official update...

I agree the display is beautiful... I've got friends using iPhone and they were still surprised how bright the display on this phone was....
Before using it, I had a HTC desire, and if people complained about the LG draining the battery too quickly, compared to my desire, the battery still lasts longer.
And so far, people complain about o2x rebooting for no reason, even if it did happen to me, so far it hasn't been a disturbance...
All in all, I think it is a great phone

Back to htc hd2?

Ehi guys, i'm thinking to go back to hd2.
What do you think Guys?
Can you give me your suggestions?
Go back if you want. Its your choice, your decision. If you feel that you will be better off with an HD2, then go for it. No one can or will stop you.

If you think it is big step forward go for it,,, if not, wait untill you will be sure it is worthing... if you ask me, i don think that hd2 it is a major upgrade...sure, it's just my opinion..
It's completely your choice and I'm not going to change that at all.
However my opinion is that I cannot see why you're moving back to the HD2. The ONLY advantages of the HD2 are the bigger screen (IF you see that as an advantage at all) and perhaps the amazing developer support for that phone. Apart from that the processor and GPU are extremely sluggish compared to the O2X, it has inferior camera qualities and everything on the O2X is just more polished as it's newer.
Wich display is better?
Lg 2X ofc. And keep your 'gays' for you pls...

My Girlfriend has one... It has a bigger choice of roms (not only android (2.2, 2.3, 4.04, 4.1, also WM 6.5, WP7.5, Linux, ...) and you can dualboot (from NAND and SD).
I think the display of the O2X looks better and the handling is smoother (cause of dual-core instead of the single core of the HD2).
But it's your decision...
by all means its your decision. keep in mind though that the o2x is more advanced hardware-wise in almost every way (my doubt being ram, i think the hd2 has 1GB). both cpu n gpu are way faster, much better cam, way better display (think that the hd2 has that lousy old touchscreen that cant even register 2 touches properly, may be wrong). You are talking about a phone that originally shipped with win 6.5, regardless of that fact that it was pushed to its limits later on. as far as im concerned, its a v significant downgrade.
PS. Its not only what os it runs, but also how it runs it. try to get ur hands on one and check it out b4 buying. i personally would never switch my o2x for an hd2, but its ur call

It will be a big step back.
I will stay with my dual..!
O2x is so close to ICS you'd be stupid to change now haha.
If you're just bored, may I suggest a Nexus 7?
