Hi,
I'm on CM9 now (TeamHacksung's) Build 8. I want to flash to Team ICSSGS RC4.2. Do I have to flash first to gingerbread and then to Team ICSSGS RC 4.2? Or can I just flash directly from CM9 Build 8 to Team ICSSGS RC 4.2 via CWM?
Thanks for your time.

I know somebodies who are flash from CM9 (build 14, 15) to ICSSGS, and it's work.
But from build 8, i don't know.
For more security, the best way is to flash via odin a gingerbread stock rom, to flash ICSSGS.
It's my advice.
I had no problems to switch between ICS Roms from any Teamhacksung Build. Just GB is better to flash over Odin

You can flash it over the CM9 but I would go back to stock > CM7.1 > ICSSGSRC 4.2. It works perfectly smooth over CM7, well at least for me
I was in the same situation. I flashed back to CM7 then from there I flashed ICSSGS RC3.1. Today I upgraded to RC4.2 with Devil 14.2 LED VC. It runs smooth as butter.

Hello everyone,
I want to know how to update CM7 to latest nightlies without waiting devs to make an update to the ROM.
Im using GingerDX.
Is it just flashing the cm7 zip in CWM? Which file to download from official CM7 site.
Any idea is welcome.
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=shakira
Install only rom, not kernel.
Use one of FXP028 FXP030 or stable CM71 kernel.
Means i download the nightly zip and flash in cwm, thats all?
Why need to flash kernal?
nAa's kernel seemed to be working fine also with CM nightly
i would like to know how too...
Can u explain? I dont want any kernal, i just want CM7 nightlies. Im using stock kernal.

Only those kernals work? Im using stock kernal.
How to install the rom? flash using cwm?
Custom kernels works only with unlock bootloader.
CM7 rom doesn't work on stock kernel. Only on custom kernel.
If your bootloader is unlock, the best kernel for CM7 right now is either nAa's kernel or fxp028/030 as mentioned previously.
But cam is vga only and fm radio doesn't work yet on CM rom.
If you still want to try CM rom, flash kernel i mentioned and install CM update zip in CWM.

Im using stock kernal and im using CM7 rom. In other words, i want to update cm7 like the developer.

Follow this video guide for flashing RC3.1
Thanks.. i have seen the tutorials i have few more questions, is it safe flashing from JVQ 2.3.4, to cm 7.1 and then to rc3.1, are there any chances of having a bricked phone n also, if i make a backup from recovery can i restore my darkyrom as it was before flashing? Thanks

There's always a chance you'll end up with a bricked phone, but if you do it like on the tut, that chance is very small

I haven't heard about those issues but if you've read it then don't take a chance. First flash CM7(i was running nightly 181 for a month and it's very stable). Then flash ICSSGS3.1
Hello
I am looking for a kernel compatible with Team ICSSGS RC4.2 rom. I tried Semaphore kernel but the phone reboots randomly and give me a headache. So I am looking for a stable kernel that works good that Team ICS rom. One with BLN and overclock.
Thanks!

I used Semaphore ICS 0.9.1 and it was stable no reboots with ICSSGS 4.2
I can not recall if that version has BLN
If you do not want to go back to Semaphore I believe that Devil is another choice

Why would you even want one?? Team ICS 4.2 is well outdated, there are much much better ICS Roms out there now. I'll admit it was good when it came out compared to the rest but its not been updated for months so id be checking out the better new roms instead of looking for a kernel for Team ICS

Hi,
I used ICSSGS RC 4.2 with Semaphore ICS 1.1.1, and is very stable. Another alternative, which is also very stable the Devil Kernel.

Use one of the older semaphore kernels. Team icssgs is a great rom but as it hasn't been updated in a while so there are some issues with the newer kernels. I used 0.9 which was great with this rom.

Because some roms are left hanging in the beginning and not booting, my phone is a Huawei U9000 X6, I tested several of the forum but none work properly, now I have Android v2.3.7 and want to do the upgrade to 4.0.
In advance thank you very much.

You gotta remember this ;-
You need kernel 2.6.35.7 for all ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Roms
You need kernel 2.6.32.9 for most GB (Ginger Bread) Roms
Android RC3 runs on 2.6.35.7
I think you should flash RC3 via SUT. Flashing RC3 gives you a stable OS and automatically gives you Clockworkmod so you can boot into recovery and flash any ics rom directly after this or any 2.6.35.7 based GB Rom
For some reason though, on neither kernels, this -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619837 boots for me.
The indicator of wrong kernel is Blue screen on bootup

Flashing RC3 automatically gives you the ics kernel.
You can also use CK Kernel 0.4d in dev threads and flash via cwm but it will not work with your current rom

Yes. That should do the trick.
As an alternative, you can still flash GB stock from your manufacturer (most likely .32 kernel).

Hello guys,
I currently try to upgrade a froyo phone to the stable CM9 rom.
Whenever I am flashing the cm9 through CWM 2.5.1.2 (downloaded through rom manager) the phone shuts down while flashing and then it is stuck in a bootloop.
Here is what I am doeing:
useing Darkys v9.2 Resurrection edition. Then I am on:
-> Firmware 2.2.1
Baseband: I9000XXJPY
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #Voodoo_stable_5.4
Build: Darkys v9.2 Extreme Edition
then I am donwloading CWM 2.5.1.2 thrugh rom manager and in CWM I want to flash following zips:
Devil3_0.71_i9000_CFS_BLN_CMC_20120609
cm-9.0.0-galaxysmtd
gapps-ics-20120429-signed
the Kernel (Devil3) flashes finde.. when I am flashing cm9 then the phone restarts in the middle of the flashing process and hangs in a bootloop.
What am i doeing wrong?
You have to flash a Gingerbread rom with Gingerbread bootloaders first. Then flash CM9. When you flash CM9 from Gingerbread, the phone will restart once. Just flash CM9 again and you're good to go.
Why son't you flash CM10? It's newer and stable enough for daily use.

Thanks I will flash CM7 and after that CM9 then.
I personally use CM10 but this phone is the one from my aunt and I just want a stable rom for her because if something doesn t work (like maybe in the current CM10 alphas) then I have to look after the phone again.
Wait your on froyo you need to Odin darkyrom ressurection v10 or gingerbread one that flash cm no need for cwm darky comes with it

In my case I tried CM 7.2 and CM9.0 and after flashing (in both cases) my phone goes into a loop... finally I reinstalled Gingerbread.
I made both flash using the guidelines in CM Wiki.
I reccomend you to flash JVU with repartition. That will install your bootloaders and Cf-Rooting it, you will be able to flash both CM7 or CM9, via CWM
DarkyromResurrection is jvu based but comes with root already less hassle its how I did it

If you want stability you better flash some GB rom, not ICS. If your aunt doesn't care about speed (not that GB is that slow...) then GB is the best choice, in my opinion. More stability and better battery.
ICS is runs perfectly stable now if you select the right rom
