Ok, this is a question or questions for all of you who have experience with flashing ROM's and all other stuff. i got I9000, and I saw a couple beautiful running new ROM's running around with all kind of stuff. I've flashed my phone before with ODIN and I know how this works...but...my phone was broken a few months ago ( motherboard was malfunctioned) and I needed my warranty back so I needed my stock ROM back on. My problem is this...I couldn't fint it anywhere!! You must be thinking by now:" Oh what a noob, stock firmwares are available online etc"..but mine is not...believe me! The team in T-Mobile Croatia, from I'm coming were gracious and they have replaced my motherboard under warranty because problem was within motherboard. But this is where problem starts... My stock ROM 2.3.3. Gingerbread PDA is available online (I9000BOJV9), PHONE also (I9000XXJVO), but there is no CSC (I9000GCROJV7). If I want to put on for example Ice Cream Sandwich, I need to have rooted phone to do that in CWM, and also to make backup of my stock ROM since there is no CSC stock available to download. And again I'm bumping against the wall. There is no suitable CF Root for BOJV9...That means no new ROM for me...Or...someone is smart out there...
Why do you need stock rom? install for example darky ressurection and make back up

I need stock ROM so I can flash my phone with it in case something goes south with phone and that I can bring back warranty on it...
You don't need root for working with Odin, only download mode (3 buttons combo). You can flash any other rom, CWM it and then flash ICS.
CSC is irrelevant. I don't use it at least 10-15 last flashes and everything works fine. I had to modify one for my SGT and I saw there is nothing important in it. But while I was still using it, I just copied it from /system/csc and after flash returned back using Root explorer or Es file manager. SIM (Simobil) is allso hard to find.
Now I see that ICS is not using CSC at all. Can't find it.
When you talk about GB (I9000BOJV9) PDA, is it really just PDA or is it full ROM? On samfirmware (don't know the new adress, don't use it any more since ICS) are usualy full roms, CSC included.
Like I wrote, copy /system/csc, store it somewhere safe, and if you need it again just copy it back.

Hi, I want to install darkys rom
to do this, i need to install cwm, which looks quite easy to do.
But i need to know how to uninstall it because i dont want to void my phones warranty.
So, can you please help me, how to uninstall Clockworkmod recovery and go back to original recovery (2e) ?
I think you're missing something. I'm sure that installing that custom ROM will void your warranty. I don't know which version of Darkys you're looking at but I expect it includes root acces, likely includes Clockwork Recovery and likely also includes a custom kernel.
What I do (and I think most people who play around with custom ROMs) is install whatever app is needed / wanted. If something goes bust with your phone, you should in most scenarios still be able to flash back a stock firmware and submit it for service. That's exactly what I've done on two occasions (my service issues weren't a result of my flashing) and what I know many others have done.
Good luck.
gtg2,
i know i am installing a rom will void my warranty.
what i can do is, i can flash an official samsung i9000 rom, back to my phone.
but will it also uninstall clockworkmod recovery? or should i do something special?
install samsung firmware with odin, and then go to kies and update the firmware?
how can i go back to official recovery, mine was "recovery 2e" ??????

It's unclear from your messages whether you're still running the original firmware or have upgraded already. If you're on the original, enter *#1234# in your phone's dialpad and post back here what it reports under PDA. Using that, you can find your original firmware for Android 2.1 on http://samfirmware.com and flash it to go back to stock and recovery 2e when you're through playing with a custom ROM. If you're not running your original firmware, you'll need to figure out what your original firmware was (I don' t know what it would have been for your area).
Do you know how to use ODIN to flash firmwares? If not, read up on the reference guide for our phone. I've found it very helpful.

Good luck.
hey Gtg2,
First off, thank you for your helps.
I am sorry i couldnt make it clear, i hope i do now:
I am on custom rom now (Darkys 8.0 rom).
I am new to this and this is my 5th day with my galaxy, i bought it as second hand and 22months more guarantee i had.
I need to know how to go back to original rom and recovery because just incase. If i bring my phone now (with custom rom and cwm recovery) then the service will say your phone is out of warranty. So, i need to know how to go back to make everything original.
I noted my phones codes, here they are:
pda: i9000jvjh1
phone: i9000jxjg2
csc: i9000trcji1
When installing the custom rom, i didnt make a nandroid backup because i already found one in the net. So, i dont have nandroid backup too.
I never used odin nor samfirmware (as i couldnt find anything same with my phones codes there (pda: i9000jvjh1, phone: i9000jxjg2, csc: i9000trcji1 - it was 2.1 Eclair).
I can find a laptop to use odin anytime tho (i am a mac user).
So, as i understand from your post; if i find my stock firmware (dont know where i can) and install it via odin then everything will be original (cwm recovery will gone and recovery 2e will come back) ?????
A friend of mine (not so technical person tho) said that i should use nandroid to back to original firmware then use kies to install newer firmware (downgrade to 2.1 then upgrade to 2.2.1). Should i do this????
just i need to know the process... sorry for long msg.
Thank you...
You wont find the branded firmware that came with your phone unless you have a copy .
Simplest will be to use Odin to flash to an older version Eclair .
Then use the Kies registry hack to upgrade to current software from your provider that will be branded .It would not matter if clockwork was on as its a legitimate product .

Agreed. This would work.
Thank you very much to both of you...
Hello,
i've got a serious problem with my galaxy S.
Recently i updated my software of my SGS to 2.2.1 with kies. I was happy for a little while but then i saw darky's rom and i wanted also the Gingerbread look on my phone. I rooted my 2.2.1 using Odin and i installed Clockwork recovery Mod or something like it. After that i flashed Darky's rom on my phone.
It all worked perfectly. But then Yesterday suddenly when i tried to call home my phone wasnt working like it should. And it wouldnt call anybody.
So at home i searched up a stock firmware from samfirmware .com And i flashed it.
Now my phone is all **** because the software force closes and kies doenst work any more. I think i may should have first deinstalled Clockwork mod and unroot?
The only thing i want is to get back to 2.2 or 2.1 Im running vodafone and im from holland don't know if that makes a difference?
Anyways i really hope someone on this forum can help me please.
I just need the stock firmware and everything else like CWM and root of my phone although i cant see superusers anymore in my menu so i think its off?
first of all boot into recovery. do a factory reset/ wipe the cache and also try to format the internal sd card.
secondly boot into download mode and try to flash your stock rom again, do not use re-partition or pit unless you have 3 files (pda, modem, csc), if that completes, let me know what happens after the flash... or PM me if you want to.
Just to add, if you have these problems, you should flash with repartition to make sure that everything will be fixed, but as azzledazzle said, you need all the 3 files to do that.
you knw what a problem is i think ..that i'm not sure im using the right rom to flash with? could you maybe tell me what file i need to flash with? what is the stock for my phone and how can i see it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 this has all the stock firmwares you need. im not sure which ones come in 3 files. ideally you will be wanting one that also has dbdata... if you cant find it i would suggest flashing darkyys new 9.2
you can flash that thru odin, you can use 512 pit even tho it only has 1 pda file. and it also contains dbdata which will restore the old one incase of corruption or deletion (happened to me yesterday)
when i try to format the sd it says .
E:can't mound /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(device or resource busy)
E:copy_dbdata_media: can't mount SDCARD:
do i need to do anything about this? is it bad?
i would try and flash a rom with dbdata if that doesnt work you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905975 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563298
if that doesnt work i think it may need to go back to samsung i suspect it could be a corrupt sd card... (but i may be wrong)
yes yes YESSS i think it worked really thanks man for the fast help etc. now it boots i flashed it and there are no weird apps or force closes...Only one question left if i want to just root 2.2.1 is there an easy app for it? or do u have a file to just root stock with odin?

It's funny.. I did the exact same thing yesterday, and the same result happened to me. Now I'm dealing with how to unbrick my phone.
easiest way is to flash speedmod kernel thru odin, that gives you root and lagfix (if desired) also some extra tweaks to speed up the phone.
PS: Dont forget the thanks button ---------------------------------------------->>>>>
well maybe this can be some use to u it worked for me i guess only prob is i cannot connect to kies but that's just finding the right firmware
damn man it still is not the right firmware how can i see what firmware i need? the one i got now kies still says it cant update
damn man i still dont have the right firmware how can i see what firmware i need for my phone? its a dutch vodafone branded phone i want 2.2

select the firmware you want from there. dont listen to what kies tells you.
Hi guys, im new to the sgs, but got some android experience. I was wondering if i can backup the whole ROM/system from my sgs (running 2.2.1 but its kinda branded from my carrier), so that i can flash the latest 2.3.3 or even 2.3.4 with odin and if for any reason i have to take it into warranty, i can reflash (preferably with odin) the stock branded rom that came with my phone. I would really appreciate, if anyone can tell me that, i searched around but couldnt really find this specific question. ive checked the stock ROM thread, and my version is there but im not sure its the branded one, cuz mine says 2011.02 and the one there says december 2010.
As long as you are rooted and have clockwork mod installed you can do a nandroid backup from the recovery menu I believe.
To restore you would have to flash the same base rom though, i.e. any 2.2.1 ROM then let it reboot then root it boot into recovery and restore nandroid backup.
I think that should work.
I'm sure someone wil correct me if I am wrong.
I wish I had done this when I bought by phone from Orange UK branded.
If you find out how to create an odin version please post here for others too.
ok thanks, i flashed the newer version over anyways.. thanks anyways
Is this correct?
Is this correct?
I have the same issue and after having mine sent into samsung for a successful repair (with a bunch of arguing and persuasion) I would like to back up this stock rom before continuing in order to avoid that situation again.
Mines a i9000M (bell version )
You always have to hack the ROM a bit to have a backup. Either you flash a custom kernel that'll give you CWM/nandroid backup or you root the ROM so you can do some adb magic.
There are also tons of stock ROMs floating around the interwebs, so with any luck you can find your own stock there.
Hi
I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to flashing roms on my gnote and would really appreciate some advice. I installed a pre-rooted rom N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1 Open Europe (02/03/2012) (from bodivas's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1535025) a couple of weeks ago, all worked fine .
However, I would now like to UNROOT my galaxy note, and install the latest stock ICS rom for CPW region. I would be grateful if you could tell me how I can do this. The CPW ICS rom I downloaded only has an ODIN 'PDA' file, but there is no 'PHONE' or a 'CSC' to overwrite the files I flashed when I original flashed the pre-rooted rom.
Do I need to overwrite the 'PHONE' and 'CSC' files as well as the 'PDA' file in order to unroot?
Really appreciate any help,
Many thanks
No. Jusy flash the PDA file.

So the csc and the phone files that came with the pre rooted rom file do not need to be overwritten with replacements? why is that? Will flashing the new stock ics file result in a new phone and csc file being created? And also my gnote being unrooted? I would ideally like to have the corresponding csc and phone files that should go with the new stock ics rom.
Thanks
Yes you will get the corresponding csc of the rom you are flashing. Sometimes a rom is built with several files and sometimes with only one.
And it will be unrooted.
Thanks for your help man. Really appreciate it.
Just to confirm - I updated with a complete stock Open EU GB rom, and then downloaded the new ICS update via OTA.
So I should now be all unrooted and completely back to stock?
I'm not sure if you will know, but now that my phone is unrooted, and stock, should I be safe from the eMMC bug associated with ICS?
Many thanks for your help man.
Noone is completely safe from the ICS bug. But if you dont do a factory reset, nothing should happen to your device.
Hello everyone,
I've tried flash my i9000 to CM10 JB and sometimes it reset itself and went into clockwork mod, not sure why. I guess i'll go back to the stock rom then. My mistakes that i've done at first place is didn't do a backup (or maybe i did, can't rmb) couple months ago.
I've downloaded the files from samfirmware = I9000XWJW6_I9000OPSJV6_OPS (file inside = JW6_JV6_JW1) and also planning to flash it back to stock rom using odin3v1.87 with I9000_s1_odin_20100512.pit. The thing is there are other files missing from what i can download from samfirmware such as PDA, PHONE, CSC, BOOTLOADER ....etc. And i've tried but i couldn't find a tutorial on how to put the appropriate files into these sections.
I've tried look up into whats in JW6_JV6_JW1 but there isn't any thing that i could found to use as odin's input.
Is there any full instruction/tutorial step-by-step on how to flash i9000 from CM10 JB back to stock I9000XWJW6_I9000OPSJV6 (i'm from Australia and i guess i should put that back to normal as i will use kies as i usually did back to the old days). I really couldn't find any relevant topics flash back to I9000XWJW6_I9000OPSJV6 that i want. Others with different CSC, PDA, PHONE files i dare not to risk mixing up with the samfimware that i download, just in-case i brick my phone lol.
Thanks for your attention. Really appreciate

if it has only one big file then put in PDA section and flash, leave all the others to default values before pressing flash.
search before asking
