Its just using the webtop as an HDMI monitor with HID mouse and keyboard. I always thought this would work but never confirmed it since I am able to hook my Droid 3 to an HDTV and use a bluetooth mouse (with cursor) and keyboard simultaneously. Chances are the connections had to be moved on the dock to fit the Droid 3.
Can anybody test this I would like to know

Has any here tried this keyboard with the Bionic or does anyone have this keyboard and can try it.
Amazon has it for cheap and I love the built in mouse...
Thanks
I just tried it and it works just fine. All I did was move around with the trackpad and type a bit

Thank you! That may be my new toy for webtop
I wonder if Droid 3 have any way to add USB Host capabilities on it? To owner, do you experience any problem/complaint of this phone so far? I'm thinking to purchased one Droid 3.
Btw, when Ice Cream Sandwich released, any word from Motorola to give Droid 3 and update too? I wonder if ICS will give USB Host capabilities.
Thanks
USB Host
I have been working with the hardware end of this with no luck. I have tried wireing a micro usb hub, both powered and non powered. NO LUCK.
A bump on usb host support would be nice.

ICS is supposed to have USB hosting although Motorola has not announnced the D3 as being on the list of phone getting the update in the near future. I wouldn't worry about waiting for Motorola though, it seems that we have devs already booting it up on the D3. Even if you prefer it with motoblur, after an update is released for the Bionic, it will likely be ported to the D3 within days.

I guess this is as good of news as possible. Any idea on a time frame?

Hashcode posted a bootable port of ICS for the D3 on 11/29. While it lacks function of just about everything you would want in a smartphone, it does mean that he his already well on his way to getting a functional version of CM9 (ICS on steroids) ready for our phones. If I had to guess, I would say that we should see a beta version available before the end of the year.
On the other hand, if you want to wait for an official Motorola release of ICS, then I wouldn't plan on seeing that until late Feb. at the earliest.

While ICS supports USB hosting, I don't think its enabled in our GB kernel. :/ Once things slow down I'll figure out how to test it and get you a definative answer.
Appreciate it. Keep up the excellent work.

I have a rii keyboard and touch pad combo I use for my laptop. But I'm looking for something that will work on the bionic in webtop mode. something small that has a built in mouse, or key pad. All the ones I see have a USB dongle which obviously won't work. Anybody have a good alternative? Or ideas?

USB dongles don't work?
That's news to me.
I used the Microsoft and Logitech devices and the phone picked up the dongle and devices just fine.

Scratch this, found out someone answered in another thread.
My very old Logitech MX5500 keyboard and mouse combo worked just fine. You should be able to use just about any Bluetooth device...

I got the RII mini keyboard for Christmas and it does work with the Bionic (using it with HDMI cable and web hack now!) I got lucky and figured out the bluetooth pairing procedure (no help from mfr)
1: Do not download their apk, you dont need it. Uninstall it if you have it installed.
2: Remove it from bluetooth devices if it is listed.
3: Go to bluetooth menu, scan for devices, turn on keyboard and press bluetooth button.
4: When prompted on phone for password type 0000
Now comes the part they dont tell you..
5: Right after entering the password on the phone, type 0000 then press the enter key ON THE KEYBOARD.
The keyboard should pair and work with your bionic.
Play wih the Fkeys to see how they control the menu, home, search keys on the phone
I know this is late, hope it helps
Thank you for your input. But unfortunately my rii doesn't have a blue tooth button :/ . I guess I have the old model. It is a few years old. Maybe I should upgrade . If you don't mind me asking, what model number is yours? I'll get the same one

Model RT-MWK02
You Rii isn't bluetooth?
The button is the bluetooth symbol on mine.
If it is bluetooth, how do you get it into pair mode?
It goes into pair mode when I put the dongle in the computer. But the actual rii doesn't have a Bluetooth button :/.

Can anyone tell me how to make this Rii wireless Bluetooth keyboard work on a HTC Inspire phone?
Anyone know if such a thing is made for this phone? What I am looking for is a keyboard that plugs in like an attachment so it has a keyboard similar to the DROID 3, but I can remove it when I want.

I do not believe that such a device exists for the Bionic.

If you aren't using your Bluetooth, you could get a Bluetooth base one. I have one that rolls up, forget where I bought it from, though.
hypothetically, if the droids with slide-out keys were mounted as root USB devices (havent checked lol), there's nothing really stopping the inclusion of it besides the hardware hacking to make it viable?
lol alternatively
1. glue old droid to back of bionic
2. VNC
3. ???
4. profit

I recently got a Droid Mini. I love it, but I miss the keyboard, and I'm going to have to wait av while for ROMs and such.
But I still have my Droid 4, the screen is cracked but not horrible. The battery life is not what it used to be but it's hard to say if that's CM11 or because of age and heavy use. I try to keep it updated but I'm not sure what to do with it now. Any ideas? I have an old tablet (Nokia N810) I've been using as a clock in my room, but it's been giving me problems and I can't rely on the alarm. So I thought about using my D4 as my clock instead. Any thoughts? Is there a stand designed for the D4?
I'll welcome any ideas. Some thoughts I've had is using it as a wireless mouse/keyboard. Maybe a remote for the TV?
