No, no harm in asking but it rubbed me SO much the wrong way I just had to laugh at it, especially since it's also posted, almost verbatim, in howardforums. Ole one-post probably didn't bother reading a thing on either site since it takes what, 30 seconds to find a freeware thread, doesn't want to pay for software for his big shot expensive phone, expects whomever to steal it for him, goes by "thug" and what does any of this have to do with upgrading anything? It made me laugh even harder to see it on howardforums and get an even more terse and severe reply than yours, V.

now this is what i call a warm welcome!! Stepping into a realm of what i thought was a brotherhood of telephone-techies that would have shared the wealth of knowledge and technologies (including but not limited to software) and instead i walked into the shadows of bashers and homo-erotics (four letter words and iron rods buddy??) A simple, "sorry, we dont ask for "free" software in this forum mr new guy" post would have not only made its point, but would have lead to a more focused & productive discussion. This is a hobby, a new one at that and i am learning, just like all of you have learned at one point. I guess some people feel a sense of power by flaming newbies in forums, so with that, FLAME on with your iron rods and 4 letter words while i enjoy my newly acquired "free software" that you paid $40 bucks for.

no one said we paid for our software either.. there are plenty of resources to getting the software, filesharing, websites, etc... but for the integrity of the board we do not discuss it, this is not a warez site

Next time look around on these boards before posting.. if you would have looked you may have noticed that there are no discussion's on warez

I Just poped in to let all the torrent users out here know not to use ISOHUNT as they have negotiated a deal with the MPAA and RIAA to submit all of their server data, including all members info and ipaddress's. It is also said that Torrents2Hell will be secretly doing the same both while staying in full operation. ---BEWARE!

Yeah, it's true! You can use my site instead: myBittorrent.com! It's one of the few legitimate sites!
It's foolish to use ANY public torrent trackers/sites... If you don't know of a private one to join, it would be a better idea not to bother if you want to be safe.
This is spam and a deliberate attempt by a disgruntled ex member of our site (DERZ) to slander and defame our name. There is absolutely no truth to the matter regarding Torrents2Hell.com. I challenge the poster to bring forward even the slightest of proof regarding these ridiculous claims.
The op's post was made using a forum bot and has been spread far and wide over the internet in many many forums. I request for the moderators of this forum remove the thread as it tarnishes our name for absolutely no reason. Mods have my email so please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. Members wanting to add this member to there PG list can pm me at Torrents2Hell for there Ip address. We are not the first torrent site to be attacked by this twerp so all webmasters should be wary of this sort of activity.

Bram Cohen always said that he never understood why public torrents were used to distibute pirated warez as all IPs are logged. If you use public torrents, you shouldn't be surprised if you get a knock on the door. It might not happen, but if and when it does, man, we'll all be right behind you I'm sure.
Remember, winners don't use warez.

I hate the RIAA/MPAA and their goons. Whenever I torrent, no mater what it is I am flooded with "safenet" etc trying to slow me down. They do not care if the file has no copyright of theirs they just do it to everyone on that tracker. I am currently getting a Chinese tv series that was free to air and has nothing to do with hollywood but they still bombard me.
Maybe we should write some software to target their connections and get 10 million users to distribute an attack on them the way they do to us.

After being a mod on Torrents2hell i can confirm that they DO sell your info, but i do not know about isohunt, but you don't have to join that site to get the torrents anyway.

The Q&A and General forums are as meaningful as the forums that you are obviously referring to (development forums).
The rule is there to stop absolutely ridiculously selfish noobs going into dev forums and creating posts (or even worse, creating threads!) that simply say "I can't do this.... I can't do that...."
Anyone that's been on here a while and now knows what they are doing will tell you, 100% accurately, that most of the time you only have to read a little longer and you find your answer. It's VERY unlikely that you have a question that hasn't been asked before.
Try contributing meaningfully to the Q&A and General forums for your device. You may find that you enjoy helping people, rather than just coming here to leech and demand answers (not saying you do that - just saying it happens).

Ok, fair point, I was referring to this off-topic forum, which I thought was just for fun.
But my point remains: what did I do wrong to get my posts clumped together? I posted genuine posts in this off-topic forum as this site permitted me too.
And while I appreciate you were referring to the typical noob when you pulled out the big phrases ("absolutely ridiculously selfish noobs" ..... "I can't do this.... I can't do that...." etc.) remember, you don't know me.... you don't know what I was or wasn't going to post, suggest, answer, ask - you only assume
My question related to the forum rules (which I searched for ), and in what way - by posting a few jokes in joke forums - I had broken them.
Maybe the moderators should update those rules and make them a little clearer next time, particularly with regards to this 10 post thing.
Just a helpful suggestion.

I wasn't assuming - I wouldn't do that because you're right, I don't know you. I iterated the point in order to explain the type of person that has unfortunately brought about the need for such rules. They can be a pain for genuinely non-pleblike users, but most of them will understand the need for such rules as they tend to make the site that little bit better.
Anyway, just don't clump a load of posts together and you'll be fine.
The merge feature is automatic and happens to everyone, even Mods such as myself. You did nothing wrong in the aspect, however, I will be deleting this thread as it is yet another way to increase post count. Do as the poster above suggested and head over to Q&A to contribute some meaningful posts. If you have more questions on the rule, see the link in my sig.
This may or may not be what you're talking about, but the site did recently implement a change where posts are auto-merged if they are back to back within a certain time frame.*

A metaphor for you.
There are several kinds of people here on xda, but there are two major groups:
Some people ask to be force fed all the time.
That's like asking where a burger king is when you're right in front of it, but you can't see it cause you're looking the other way. (Just like here. You posted to be directed to the ROM although it's usually the first thread in the "original android development")
Some other people are here being a very active part of the community, using their unparalleled skills to give us a good product... But since they are such a big part of the community they're the first to be chosen whenever someone wants to be force fed. Or at least they tend to act responsibly in their threads.
They are the people that you end up stopping while they're out on the street and get annoyed whenever you ask where the burger kings is. Because of course the burger king is right there, but also because they have been asked the same question over and over. By spending a lot of time here they're bound to be the ones more exposed to such questions.
Therefore, laziness is not really well regarded in this community. Besides, tinkering with android might not be such an easy task, especially when there are no final products out yet, so, if you don't even know how to look for something in a forum, a lot of people would suggest that you should avoid modding altogether.
That being said, next time try to be a tad more considerate of the work of others. If it's your first visit to xda I would like to welcome you though. I'm sorry if I have been rude, but I just wanted to be explicative.
Now, feel free to explore the forum, but be warned that the vast majority here does not like to answer questions that have been asked several times. The search button holds most of these answers.

It just was kind of spam as you posted on another thread about Jolla Sailfish OS,
that's why I answered it.
And now you open another thread about Jolla Sailfish OS beside your first one
and the post on "Team Rom Port Effort" ?
There is probably a reason why this has not been ported yet
and that's whether because not that much people like it, it's too hard to
port and the effort and time would be in no relation to the features of this OS
or the devs are more likely to port more popular roms (and we are really lucky that
our devs have ported such a massive number of awesome roms.
