[Q] Flashed stock ROM with Heimdall, now cannot power on - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, any help woud be much appreciated.
I flashed a stock ROM with Heimdall, and just as it was starting to send the PIT file, it stated that there was no 'end of PIT file' notification.
Then it sent a reboot message to my phone. After that, no indication of power, no lights on the soft-buttons, nothing.
Pulled battery, reinserted. Nothing. Tried plugging into power as well, nothing.
Any ideas what's wrong? Even if it can't boot it should at least power up right?

[Q] How can I turn my phone on? - Serious Problem

Hi all.
No other expression can describe mine right now.
I was trying to flash I9000XWJM9 using Odin. The instruction was to first tick the 'Re-partition', 'Auto Reboot', and 'F. Reset Time'. Next, I load the 512.pit file, and start flashing as instructed. Here's my mistake. When the phone turned off, and I saw Odin display 'Pass', I thought that it is safe to remove the battery, so I eagerly removed it. Then only I realized that I should wait for the phone to display something related to reset.
Now, my phone can't be turned on in any way. I tried to plug the charger to see if there's any battery indicator for charging, but nothing happen.
I'm trembling with anger at myself for being hasty, and also for the phone that might just be a brick soon.
What should I do now??
HELP!
Here's the tutorial from XDA that I followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802909

Its not a serious problem
Take out the battery for few minutes, open Odin select PDA/modem/CSC (I9000XWJM9) and pit 512 **Try with Repartition Unchecked**
Insert battery and press Volume down+Home+Power until download mode is available, connect the cable and it will show colored in 1st box of Odin (Comm), just press start

I will try that and see what will happen.
Thank you.
Nope, not turning on...
I tried every possible button combination.
Vol Up+Home+Power, Vol Down+Home+Power, Vol Up+Vol Down+ Home+Power, Vol Up+Power, Vol Down+Power, and of course, Power button for a minute.
Getting despair and regretted of flashing the firmware...
After quite a few hours from removing the battery and putting it back, and tried to turn on the phone, nothing happen. Can't even go into download mode or recovery mode.
Is my phone totally bricked?
Yes, the phone can be turned on now. After I charged it for 15 minutes, then I tried to turn on using download mode, and it works. Thanks nasgilani!
I'm so relieved! Ok, back to flashing lol!

Soft Brick tab (I hope)

so I installed a custom kernel and it the voltage app said my kernel wasn't compatible so I shut it off to try a reboot. Now when I turn it on its stuck on the Samsung splash screen. If I press and hold volume down and power I can get to the "downloading screen but when I try to flash the zip aligned and deodexed tar for Verizon Odin errors and shuts down. I am using the P1 pit. Any help would be appreciated
When using ODIN, just flash the pda file. No pit file or anything. See if that works.
I finally fixed it I guess HEIMDALL is vary picky when it comes to what USB port you use

I'm in a similar situation. Battery ran out during Odin process. Now it won't acknowledge the Tab when plugged in. I've put it on charge but still nothing.
Is there any way I can solve this? When I push the power button and down, nothing happens.

[Q] Stuck on clockworkmod

Hi
I tried to remove Bejeweled using a program I downloaded (I can't remember the name). It said it would reboot twice, but it seemed to have frozen after the first reboot, so I pulled the battery.
Now, every time I try to turn the phone on, it goes into ClockworkMod 2.5.1.0 and stays there. None of the buttons do anything at all, so I can't get to any of the options.
Samsung Kies and Odin 3 don't seem to recognise the phone when I plug it in by USB and I can't find any button combinations that stop it going to ClockworkMod.
I only got the phone a few days ago, so I'm not sure if I can send it back and claim the Froyo update on Kies broke it. I would prefer to fix it myself though. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
So can you get into download mode or not?
No, I can't get to anything other than clockworkmod, and that freezes.
When I plug the usb lead in, it turns on without pressing the power button, but still freezes at clockworkmod. Hope that helps.

What you want to do is, pull battery out, put it back in, Hold volume down and Home button, THEN put in the usb lead, That should put you into download mode, then you can flash thru odin
Pull ur battery so phone is completely dark hold the 3 button combo for the download mode the phone should power in download mode or last option is get a jig for a pound on ebay

Thanks for your help. When I tried azzledazzle's solution, it went to frozen clockworkmod again, but the Galaxy S screen at the start doesn't show. Also, my version has never responded to any key combos, even when it worked.
I have attached a picture of what Odin shows when I put the USB lead in. Not sure if I can do anything with it. By the way, I've never used Odin before so I don't know if there are any settings I need to change.
I'll order one of those 'jigs' but hopefully I can get it fixed before that arrives.
you have selected 512 pit, but you havent ticked re-partition, that is whats causing your problem.
you say your phone never responded to button combo's. does that mean you have never been in download mode ??
The 'jig' has arrived and put me straight into download mode! Definitely recommended for anyone who can't use the three button combos. I have used a new rom with the 512 pit and repartition unchecked, and Android 2.2.1 installed fine. This also solved the button combo problem.
In reply to azzledazzle, the only time I saw download mode before the jig arrived was when Kies mucked up an update.

Another "bricked Galaxy Tab" thread :(

Hi people,
I have just got a Galaxy Tab just for kicks. It's a P1000L brazilian one.
I want to unbrand it (it's Claro branded, the operator took out Gmail and Gtalk, also assigned search to Yahoo instead of Google), so I have talked to a friend which also has a Galaxy Tab, same model, but unbranded, all Google apps inside.
My FW is (or was ) P1000LVJJJ4, and his FW is P1000LVJJM9, so I went to this thread at TheGalaxyTabForum, downloaded the P1000LVJJM9 FW, PIT file and ODIN 1.3.
http://www.thegalaxytabforum.com/index.php?/topic/112-samsung-galaxy-tab-firmware-list/
I have read about the process and started doing it. Here's what happened.
I haven't checked the partition option, just put the PIT file and the FW file in the correct fields, put my Tab in download mode, clicked start... and after some time, almost at the end, ODIN failed. My Tab got stuck in download mode, yellow triangle. I got it disconnected from the USB cable, than put it again. Restarted the process, but ODIN got stuck in setup connection.
I took my Tab off the usb cable again, it was still stuck in download mode, yellow triangle. Pressed the power button for a while, it has turned off completely. Now it's bricked, maybe dead. No life signal, nothing happens when I press any button or button combination, nothing is shown when connected to the charger or USB, not recognized in KIES and ODIN, nothing at all.
Is there any hope for me? What can I do to solve this?
i have the same problem, did u get any solution???
Hmm, if nothing happens on screen at all either when you plug it in or hold the power button, that's very bad...
Otherwise, I think the most you can do is either let it charge for I think a few hours and then see what happens
volume down + power
Tab will not respond but plug it in the pc anyway, odin will normally recognize it even without the "android shoveling" screen.
flash stock GB
download all the needed files from this page.

[Q] Stuck on either white AT&T screen or grey, frozen battery screen, no USB

While flashing back to stock using Odin, something happened after the install and my phone ended up rebooting, and I have not been able to turn it on since.
-When attempting to power on normally, phone shows white AT&T screen and hangs there
-When attaching USB, phone shows battery screen but battery is all grey and rotating progress icon is frozen. Does not appear to be charging.
-Computer does not recognize phone in any state. Latest USB drivers are installed and I have had no issues connecting via USB previously.
-Cannot get into download or recovery mode using any volume/power button combination or through adb. Also tried attaching USB with ODIN running while attempting button combinations, inserting/removing battery etc, still nothing.
- I have tried removing battery, plugging in usb, hold down up/down/power, plug battery in, let go of power, and it still goes into a stuck grey battery charging screen.
Has anyone else experienced this? Anything else I should try?
Usb jig to force download mode
This package after that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995143
So all I need is a JIG to force download mode and flash ODIN until it works?
That's what I said
I mean I can try and come up with more complicated directions if you want a harder solution?

I dont think you are supposed to use power button here. Try again with out it. If you are on Gingerbread, hold volume down and insert usb from the phone powered off, you'll get dl mode.
I made the JIG, got into download mode.
I followed the instructions using JF6 Odinv3 1.3.
Is there supposed to be a PIT file or only TAR? Because after flashing I still get stuck at the battery charging screen.

No pit file. Only tar, it goes into pda slot.
ok I got into download mode using the jig and I found out that I had to follow the instructions for models that are over 1010 and those instructions had a PIT and TAR file. Worked like a charm and I am just glad my phone has been saved. Thanks for the help!
I am having the same issue, regarding the battery screen and AT&T splash screen.
I'm having trouble getting my computer to recognize my phone after running it through Odin. Odin claimed to be successful in restoring the phone, but I'm not sure what to do to get the computer to recognize the phone.
Thoughts? I'm running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron duo-core desktop.
okay from what I can tell just make a jig. I am no engineer but the instructions online are really easy to follow. Just go to radioshack and buy the 100k ohms resistors 1/4 watt 5% resistance. Make the jig and follow the instructions on how to force your phone into download mode. Once you enter download mode, dont plug in the usb yet. Open Odin first, THEN plug in the usb. Have you also updated or installed your samsung usb drivers?
Has anyone tried to hard reset?
