Its official from HTC now
HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

I know there have been many people to say that the Vivid/Raider will be getting ICS but I personally haven't seen anything from HTC until now.
Bell is testing it now and as per Bell official plans it plans to ICS update for Raider Mid March. So we should see a leaked version soon
I know this is off topic but didn't any one else read this in professor farnsworth's voice?

This is really cool.
Wow, hopefully now developers can create ICS inspired custom roms. Cheers!
there's like 10 of these over at the dhd section lol

These are the files you need to port a device. They need to be altered severely to run on the incs. Extreme development knowledge is needed to make use of this. However a developer could grab bits and pieces from it if they have greater knowledge in one area than another.
The ics update will be coming to this and many other htc devices as stated yesterday to myself in a bell store by an htc rep.

but it won't come anytime this year, probably end of Q1 or Q2 2012.

You guys are reading into this way too much.
All they did was give a few obvious ones that would get the upgrade. They never said the rest of their products weren't.

Let me quote myself:
"Right now[...]"
You see? I'm talking about what they've said so far, but what'll happen in the future; sorry, I can't tell and therefore I won't do anything else then hope that HTC will give us an official update to 4.0.
But from what Google said when they showed 4.0, I think that it'll come to the IncS. Sometime.
And to your last part; no, they didn't.
"We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich."
From the same link that I linked in my previous post. So, I'm fully aware of the fact that this only seems to be a preliminary statement from HTC.

The stock ROM from HTC will have all of the appropriate drivers for wifi, bluetooth, camera, cam-corder, etc, so those apps should work better on. HTC doesn't have to release the source code for these drivers.
CM9 and AOSP based ROMS generally have generic device drivers that don't always work correctly or as well as the stock ROMs.

I have tried both sense and aosp ics, but I still keep coming back to sense 3.5 gingerbread, either affinity or trinity sensation xl.
Because there are some glitches, bugs and things not working, I will stay on gingerbread. And I like sense But the features and improvements in the ics roms look very promising, I liked sense 4 very much
Just make a nandroid backup and flash it, then go back to your backup when you are bored lol
I like to go back to a stable rom where everything works
I'm currently running IceCold Sandwich 7.2 and the truth is I'm in love with AOSP/AOKP ICS. Since I bought my IS I've been always a huge fan of Sense recently I flashed back one of Sense 3.5 roms but it's something that don't surprise me anymore. Given that I'll stick with AOSP until the day HTC decides to come out with something great for us.

What devices will not get Android 4.1?
We work hard to ensure each of our products has the optimal user experience and therefore some products will remain at their current version of Android. In general, devices with 512MB RAM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.1. At present, these devices include the HTC One V and the HTC Desire C. As we identify other devices that will not be upgraded, we'll provide updated information.
It should be noted that upgrades are not the same thing as ongoing support. Devices not being upgraded to Android 4.1 will still get software improvements, security fixes, and technical support.

I don't want to break your dreams or anything, but it took HTC almost a year to deliver the ICS update... it is also over 18 months since our phone was released, so HTC don't have to bring us anymore updates.
And as you said, this device wasn't that populare. It got stuck between the Desire HD and the Desire S.
You do the math on this one, I might be too pessimistic to think clearly. And wasn't the ICS update from HTC really, really, sluggish?
If you want official JB, get a new phone... hoping for this phone to get another update from HTC is like trying to talk some sense into fanatics...
Yes ICS made the phone real real slow, like a symbian one.
Maybe HTC won't do an update for IncS but maybe they do..DHD was far more popular than the IncS and it didn't had the ICS Update.
This is good news for the Desire X, and that means, port to us =)
Not looking good I think

If they are "considering" the 4.1 update for other 2011 devices,
So if the Evo3D, rezound, sensation etc are being 'considered' then sorry but we don't really have much of a chance :-\

Well, they actually called a new Sense version 4+. Anyway, Sense version doesn't have anything in connection to Android version, or at least it's name. It's just a stupid coinsidence that one of the latest version of Android (4.1) has the same number as one of the latest Sense versions (4.1) and there are no dependensies between them.
