MAYBE JB support from htc in a undefinite future. - HTC Incredible S

Hello guys, to me it's a great news; I'm sorry if it's a repost or a false hope...
Directly from HTC site: http://www.htc.com/www/help/android41faq/
What devices will not get Android 4.1?
We work hard to ensure each of our products has the optimal user experience and therefore some products will remain at their current version of Android. In general, devices with 512MB RAM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.1. At present, these devices include the HTC One V and the HTC Desire C. As we identify other devices that will not be upgraded, we'll provide updated information.
It should be noted that upgrades are not the same thing as ongoing support. Devices not being upgraded to Android 4.1 will still get software improvements, security fixes, and technical support.

even though our phone isn't one of the best seller, I'll hope with all my force for a JB release, but i bet that will take soo long, just thought about ICS for our phone...

Our death will come with the 'in general' bit

I don't want to break your dreams or anything, but it took HTC almost a year to deliver the ICS update... it is also over 18 months since our phone was released, so HTC don't have to bring us anymore updates.
And as you said, this device wasn't that populare. It got stuck between the Desire HD and the Desire S.
You do the math on this one, I might be too pessimistic to think clearly. And wasn't the ICS update from HTC really, really, sluggish?
If you want official JB, get a new phone... hoping for this phone to get another update from HTC is like trying to talk some sense into fanatics...

Yes ICS made the phone real real slow, like a symbian one.
Maybe HTC won't do an update for IncS but maybe they do..DHD was far more popular than the IncS and it didn't had the ICS Update.
This is good news for the Desire X, and that means, port to us =)

Not looking good I think
http://www.htc.com/www/help/android41faq/
If they are "considering" the 4.1 update for other 2011 devices,
So if the Evo3D, rezound, sensation etc are being 'considered' then sorry but we don't really have much of a chance :-\
But please prove me wrong, that would make me definitely get another HTC device

First of all, sense 4.1 isn't jellybean !!
Sense 4+ is jellybean. Anyways, I don't think we will ever get sense jellybean update from HTC.
But hopefully we will get a fully working jellybean built from source like cm10, ect...
To be exact there is cyan x already working great and has a few bugs but hell yea we can use it as a daily driver.
Project butter is working almost perfect (97%) on cyan x ROM. I can see a little lag from time to time but I am not complaining at all

No offense... but... if my maths isn't all f*cked up, wouldn't "4+" include 4.1? Or have I missed something with how HTC have started to name their Sense-things?

Well, they actually called a new Sense version 4+. Anyway, Sense version doesn't have anything in connection to Android version, or at least it's name. It's just a stupid coinsidence that one of the latest version of Android (4.1) has the same number as one of the latest Sense versions (4.1) and there are no dependensies between them.
Or HTC does that with purpose to play with our brains...

Anyways all I know is that sense 4.1 isa ana ics upgrade for sense 4.0 and that sense 4+ is a jellybean based software

The Android version will also be bumped to 2.3.5, and will also bring Google Talk with video chatting capabilities to the handset."
How come no one have posted these links?

Read the twitter link from PaulOBrian.
"So Saga and Vivo (Desire S and Incredible S) have official Sense 3.0 builds now. "
If the builds are done, it shouldn't be long before they release it.
But then again, you never know with HTC. For me it seems like they're pretty slow at updating their phones...

Agreed. I had the original Samsung Galaxy before the Incredible S. The updates from Samsung were buggy and slow to non-existent. That was what prompted me to move to HTC since they seemed much better.
So why does desire s have it and inc s doesn't? They are virtually the same.
And saying there are a lot of phones not having it is a non-sense argument. VIVO is not an old phone. So it is our right to expect better service

As someone with 16000 S-On Im really glad to hear this .. as for the banter on HTC's speed or lack of for updates ... HTC builds are cranked out faster unofficial or official than any other phone models I own ... Normally I don't care much for official rollouts but as there's no s off working for me atm ,knowing that there is confirmed rollouts coming I'm quite happy to wait ... Definate worth waiting for solid n stable than quick n buggy fota...
Can't wait for this to hit, Mike will have a new base for his Android Revolution HD Rom.
Yes that's fantastic news. Hopefully with the new official Sense 3 ROM, more custom ROMS will be available for us IncS users instead of having devs and cooks port ROMs from other handsets. Perhaps soon we'll have more choice of custom sense ROMs! =)
Yeaa, can't wait. Hope they don't put the project on hold, because of the resources they need for ICS device updates.
Got bored of sense 2.1. The 3d launcher looks amazing.

In fact sense 3.5 will use less system resources than sense 3.0 and thats why devices using MSN8255 can get this update

Does anyone know the exact differences between Sense 3.0 and 3.5? I've tried both ROMs before and there a few UI changes (e.g the tick and the checkbox is different) and you can jump from dialer to contacts, favorites etc directly from the jog dial and the bottom.

These are the files you need to port a device. They need to be altered severely to run on the incs. Extreme development knowledge is needed to make use of this. However a developer could grab bits and pieces from it if they have greater knowledge in one area than another.
The ics update will be coming to this and many other htc devices as stated yesterday to myself in a bell store by an htc rep.

You see? I'm talking about what they've said so far, but what'll happen in the future; sorry, I can't tell and therefore I won't do anything else then hope that HTC will give us an official update to 4.0.
But from what Google said when they showed 4.0, I think that it'll come to the IncS. Sometime.
And to your last part; no, they didn't.
"We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich."

HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

The stock ROM from HTC will have all of the appropriate drivers for wifi, bluetooth, camera, cam-corder, etc, so those apps should work better on. HTC doesn't have to release the source code for these drivers.
CM9 and AOSP based ROMS generally have generic device drivers that don't always work correctly or as well as the stock ROMs.

Because there are some glitches, bugs and things not working, I will stay on gingerbread. And I like sense But the features and improvements in the ics roms look very promising, I liked sense 4 very much
Just make a nandroid backup and flash it, then go back to your backup when you are bored lol
I like to go back to a stable rom where everything works
I'm currently running IceCold Sandwich 7.2 and the truth is I'm in love with AOSP/AOKP ICS. Since I bought my IS I've been always a huge fan of Sense recently I flashed back one of Sense 3.5 roms but it's something that don't surprise me anymore. Given that I'll stick with AOSP until the day HTC decides to come out with something great for us.

I'm not sure if there is a Jelly Bean 4.2 out with any HTC Sense yet, I thought Sense 4+ and Sense 5.0 use Jelly Bean 4.1.
Unfortunately I do not have the skills to help you out past that, unless you are looking for beta testers when the time comes around. As stated above your best bet right now would be to contact homeslice and see if he's interested in working on this. He knows the other Vivid devs pretty well and would probably be the best person to ask about getting a team together (I'd recommend PM'ing him). However the few remaining devs seem to be focused on polishing off their Sense 4.1 roms, so they may not have the time right now, but it doesn't hurt to ask around.
Good luck!

Yea I just saw that too. Very very hopeful that we will someday be able to receive this update. If so, I might not even get a One as my Vivid handles everything I do just fine.
Well Chris aka Y2Jerico was talking to me last night and we talked over a lot on sense 4+ and he wants to do it but he doesn't have time for making a kernel and porting but he is willing to work as hard he can to put many fixes longs as him and who ever else can get a base. The reason why is because this guy works long hours and has only has the weekends to work on it.... But I trust that he will help out a lot cuz who ever ran the honest rom has seen his work and seen how smooth, fast, and snappy his rom was.
