What does it ask you to do next?

When you toggled to safe mode, which.toggle option did you select? One will back you up and the other one won't I don't believe.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I just did toggle safe system after done it says safe system is now enabled I would flash ics I think just want to reboot but just making sure I didn't screw anything up while in recovery
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I didn't flash any roms just rooted running the exploit and then enabled toggle safe system so I should probably just reboot and be fine but I just want to make sure
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Once you toggle to safe, then you flash ics. Even if it didn't back up your original system, the worst that should happen when going back to your normal system is that it will take you back to a fresh install and you will need to set your accounts back up and reinstall your apps

If you don't flash ics (or any rom) when your in safe mode and reboot your phone, it won't load because there isn't a version of android there.

flashed ics and it gave me bad/installation aborted going to try and transfer on sd card with my wifes phone with a fresh download see if that works and it should go onto external correct???
I believe I have mine in internal. I think you can install it from either location.
You may want to clear the cache and stystem data before flashing if you didn't. Sometimes that helps.

It seems the lagfix screws up nandroid backups. I suggest uninstalling it then creating your backup.
You have to first flash ClockworkMod then do your backup. I do this by going into recovery just below the clockwork flash. Once getting into recovery menu choose the option for Nandroid, be patient it can take a full 10 minutes or more just be patient and let do it's thing. It may appear to hang but just let it run, it will take longer on certain files.

Gunny it just takes a little bit to get through that part. I thought the same thing but I just left it alone and it just took an extra few minutes and it did get through it.

depends on which one you used. The ext4 one and and the ext2 versions both have uninstallers.

I've never had a problem running nandroid backup and i'm using one of the lagfixes (damned if i remember which). I'm still using stock however, until the 2.1 (or even 2.2?) ROM scene gets a little more seasoned.
Must be just me then. I couldn't get nandroid backup/restore to work

Nandroid does work with the lagix one click or ext4, people are impatient and panic when it isn't instantly zipping through processes. I ran one last night and I am running ext4 and SRE.

No. First you need to flash a stock rom if you're not already on one. Once you do that you need to flash the stock recovery. You do this the same way you flashed cwm but flash the stock recovery instead of cwm. You can also skip the backup step. After that you can use super oneclick to unroot the phone. At that point you will be good.

Well I never had cwm I went on super one click and pressed unroot did this do it I am on stock 2.2 and never flashed a rom

Thanks for getting me in the right area guys. Sorry, wasn't trying to cause any problems.
I have tried the one click version with mt and it never took. Mt even tried doing it for me. I have enabled debugging and dollars each step to the last detail.
I have also tried superoneclick with no success on the install. I'm unaware of how to do it manually.
Thanks

Have you tried a different computer? Even doing it the manual way will require the same exploit, and more than likely will result in the same outcome.

I have not. I will try tomorrow morning on another. Thanks

What are the steps to reboot in recovery? I also downloaded gingervolt to my as card but I can't get into my card.

What method of root did you use? And check your app drawer for revo tool kit then you need to download the clockwork mod recovery check what recovery you have if it isn't the 4.0.0.2-pr1 then you need to click on to install that if it didn't go through the first time keep trying but do not reboot after it says it successfully installed hit the menu soft key And reboot in to recovery once you are in there make a back up by going to the backup And restore part And choose back up after you should wipe your data by going to format system INSIDE CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY not from inside your phone settings for gingervolt you need to put the zip on your external sd card so that means not the one that says internal place it on the root ( main portion) not in folder then reboot into recovery (if you had to boot to put ginger volt on your sd) the same way as before then go to install zip from sd card choose the gingervolt zip nitty the install update.zip option select yes let it install then reboot.. Also in clockwork recovery you use to volume keys to navigate up And down And the power button to select

Am I supposed to download these items with my phone or when it is hooked up to my computer? I used allinoneclick by my. Worked great. I am an extreme noob with this so thanks for walking me through these steps. I do not have the tool kit in my apps
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
If you rooted with mts all in one click that has cwm sticking just go into it manually. I always download everything to the phone directly makes it easier for me.
How do I get into clockwork mod? I installed and hit recovery. Whenever I hit the menu key, the more option is not there. I'm so confused
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
Best way to check you have cwm download revotool kit and check that way. If it says you have it then you can reboot from revo toolkit.

Did you make sure that cwm was installed? That's what it sounds like.
How do I check that?
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
Its been a while since I have been in the toolkit. There should be a button somewhere that says check recovery or something like that. You could go to the revo toolkit page and look at what the OP put on there sorry I can't really help to much on that.
I would like to flash Gingervolt to my revo. Every thread I look at says that the first step in doing so is to use CWM to make a back up. I try to install using rom manager and it brings up a list of phones that I have to pick from. I am sure you are all aware of this and I am being a HUGE noob right now but I searched the forums and didn't see anything about this. I Would really appreciate the help as to how i go about getting cwm for my phone and how to back up my phone.

Don't flash gingervolt yet. Are you using froyo, or gingerbread? Then you need cwm, which is part of our oneclick program in the development section. Then you make that back up.

Ok so I put CWM on using one click or whatever. I used quick boot to go into recovery. The Rom manager logo was there and it says CWM- Based Recovery V5.0.2.7. I pressed back up and backed up my entire system and that is the last thing I have done. My question is if i were to mess something up how would I make my phone go to the previous back up. Also am I ready for gingervolt now?

Get rid of rom manager. You do not need it. There is no good that will come of it. To many things can go wrong lol.
Use the all in one, it has a reboot recovery option now, after installing and it reboots, select reboot recovery. If it goes into it, then you are all set.

Ok so I am about to use that. The next step is to back up all data. Once I have done that the next step is to wipe all data!!! that is the scary part. How do i get back my stuff should something go awry. Once I get over that fear I press install zip from SD card and then I am done after I reboot. And this is all done in CWM. AM I correct in stating all of this.

if you are already rooted, install Titanium Backup or Ultimate Backup or ROM Toolbox from the market they are all useful tools to back up all of your apps. Then wipe data, flash Gingervolt, then use backup program to restore your apps..

You do not have to wipe data, it is an option if you want a clean start. I would run your phone as it is for a couple Weeks and if it acts up, then consider a data wipe when other options have been used.

How many threads are you going to start about your issue? I see another thread titled "Now what?" Keep it all here!! Goof!!
I was running 208 ics, and wanted to jump to 217 ics with the new tool for ics only. Ran the tool with the associtated flash file and the update failed. The phone would do nothing but go into stock recovery, so like an idiot I did a factory reset. If there is way to recover the phone please let me know. Thanks.
Just fast boot back and try again.
Make sure you are using the right kernel and have it named correctly, ICSFIX.IMG iirc (though I'd check the instructions)

The program won't connect to the phone anymore. RSD will, but it fails to rewrite the OS
