Hey guys, sorry again if this has been asked before,
How do I transfer a file from my Mac to the ATT Tab?
There seems to be no USB option on the Tab and the Tab wont mount on my desktop.
Kies don't support Mac file transfer.
Thanks
I use WiFi File Explorer PRO. Seems to be much faster than USB and it should work on your mac.
or use airdroid.
i forgot how to use usb when i used airdroid.
Honeycomb, on this tablet, doesn't use USB mass storage because there is no SD card. It uses MTP storage. It is functional but has some issues. Just use the USB charging cable from your charger and connect the tablet to the computer. make sure usb debugging is turn off unless you want to attempt to use abd to push the files.
You can get wifi file explorer, a free app that will attempt to connect the tablet to the computer via wifi.
Another option is a file sharing service like dropbox or sugarsync
http://db.tt/1v0BC1VS
these let you upload files to a cloud server. Then install them to any device with internet access. The starting point is 2GB but you can't expand that. If you want to go the route of dropbox, that link will give us both a little extra space
Thanks, I found that WiFi Pro app and it works fine.
I also just bought the G-Tab 7.7 so will be returning the 8.9 anyway.

And by that not meaning tethering or active syncing. I don't want to sync my phone. I just want to transfer a file (58mb) from my laptop to my HTC Tilt's storage card via bluetooth. Normally I use the USB cable and the phone will be detected and I can see it in Windows Explorer. Then I click on it like a drive and paste the file.
you don't have to actually "sync" it. You can disable all syncing and just use the file explorer. Or you can enable the ftp folder on your phone(under bluetooth settings). After which you can go to your bluetooth explorer on your PC then go file sharing or ftp etc. Your particular computer may be differnt than mine.
What's the easiest way to file transfer from PC to NC cm7 using bt?
using Bluetooth File Transfer and is so slow
Why not just use the USB cable or a wifi transfer app? Bluetooth on the Nook was never meant to be used

unfortunately my usb is not working

We use switch at the office and no wifi router or ap, got bt though. I use wifi router at home.
Anybody could direct to to easy wifi adhoc connection?
You can use myphone explorer to transfer files via wlan(and tons of more stuff) to your pc.
On another note, have anybody had problems receiving files but not sending?
For some reason I can send files to a phone, but I can't receive files from that phone over BT.
If there was no wifi in your working area, then BT is the only choice besides USB.
I had a mess trying to get BT file transfer working, ended up using adbWireless to push/pull the files I wanted.
Try File Expert from the Market. It's free and supports HTTP, FTP, SMB(Windows Network Share), and BT file transfer methods. Alternatively if booting from Internal Mem on Nook, copy files to MicroSD and the put MicroSD into Nook, if Booting from MicroSD, then insert MicroSD into Computer running Linux and copy files to Forth Partition(Should be the Biggest).

Drop box is also worth looking into, though like other suggestions it requires wifi.
What is the difference between MTP and PTP on the TouchPad with CM9?
Is there a Mass Storage mode available? (MTP and PTP don't mount the tablet as an USB storage device).
Thank you!

Providing you get MTP to work it does have advantages over a pure USB disk mount which is probably why it isn't in ICS as standard.
MTP is the closest to Mass Storage mode at the moment, until they can make it work with ICS. From what I can tell, it's a widespread issue with many of the ICS Rom's out there.
Thank you both for replying. It seems MTP makes more sense than USB mass storage and is safer too.
Actually, for moving files around I found out wifi solutions like AirDroid are convenient and I don't have to plug in the cable.

Yes. Wifi connections avoid the need to plug cable in much. ES File Explorer, which is a very good file manager, can also see network shares on PCs over the wifi network avoiding the need for a separate app.
I still do use cable connection when transferring large files like Nandroid backupsas it is faster.
Make sure you use a USB2 port!
I kept having issues copying files to both my Galaxy Nexus and Touchpad until I realized I was using a v1 port. Swapped some cables around and it's working great.
I have tried ES File Explorer and it is slower than AirDroid when transferring larger files. On the other hand, it is more convenient because you can manage the transfers from the tablet (on AirDroid you do all stuff on the PC).
Hi , My name is Ramadoss.N, I have converted 2 Hp touchpad into KitKat 4.4.4 using Hptoolbox V42 and cynogenmod 11 with other zip fils. It works very good. The conversions are done via MacBook .The problem is HP touchpad is not recoganised by my MacBook Air to transfer music. Is there anything to be done in Settings. If the please let me know to my mail id. My mail id is [email protected]. Thank you in advance and looking for your response.
For many years I've used ssh/sfp daemon to scp files to my Linux machine. But about a years ago that stopped working. I set up the daemon, start it and it seems to start fine, but it presents no port 22 on the phone's wifi IP. I know because I can't SSH to it and nmap finds no ports open.
Is there any way to pull files from the XT1053 besides connecting with USB and adb pull?
Can't you setup MTP so it is like removable storage?

I don't follow. How would I do that?
You dont want to use a USB cable? You can use Airdroid or KDE Connect (you don't need KDE for this to work). However Its been years since I've had issues transferring files to and from Linux with a USB cable.
I don't mind using the USB cable, although I'd rather use wifi. I just need some way of moving files.
Airdroid and KDE Connect aren't available in CentOS 7.1. I'll look into them further, but I'd also like to know more about this "MTP" mode.
Change the transfer protocol from MTP to PTP, it's usually under the storage menu in a sub menu there. NIX based systems support that and you should be able to see all types of files, not just photos.
If that doesn't work for some reason, the you can use WiFi file Explorer, which works quite well.
I have no issues with USB in Ubuntu14.04, U12.04 had some issues with MTP libraries, but now all sorted out.
Myself I never tried SSHing, but interesting thought. Certainly worth a try.
What about samba? ES file manager can browse samba shares
Hello,
When I want to copy data from my laptop to my MI5, it uses the MTP transfer protocol which is very slow and very often I cannot copy big files, the transfer is like frozen and fail !
On my old phone, I was using Mass storage, which was very fast.
Is there a way to go back to this Mass storage transfer ?
If not, what else can I do to speed up the file transfer ?
I am using windows 7 with USB 2 ports.
Thanks in advance
You cannot do anything about it. MTP was always slow.
You can try some sort of wifi file transfer maybe (like es file explorer etc...). That will be much faster.
You cannot use mass storage mode on internal storage, only possible on phones supporting micro SD cards in which mass storage mode will work on that micro SD card only. You can, however, use adb push/pull to upload/download files to/from your device with much better speed, especially if your device is connected via USB. Alternatively, wifi direct such as SuperBeam could also give great speed.
Thanks for your answer, I'm surprised that android force us to use such slow transfer protocol.
I'll try a wifi transfer solution.

Here's a little technical reasoning behind it: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/3ff1rm/why_does_everything_use_mtp_these_days_mtp_sucks/
