Unrooting - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I rooted my Note following the guide on RootGalaxyNote.com. So how can I now unroot in order to install the ICS update when it comes out. Or is it better to wait and flash a modded version of ICS. Surely one will be developed when ICS is released for the Note. Thanks.

One will be developed before ICS is officially released, I think. I expect there will be a leak before the official Note ICS is released. After all, us XDA flashoholics are Samsung's useful guinea pigs.
So, I wouldn't unroot if I were you; I know I won't. I wouldn't want to miss the ICS development fun.

CM10 is officially launched, see Google+ CM circle.
Great News. A few doubts though
Lets consider LG releases the ICS update..
I noticed that google released new binary hardware drivers for galaxy nexus and nexus 7.
Does that mean the ICS drivers are not sufficient to run JellyBean???????
We will see...

I prefer the excellent custom roms here - so who needs LG (except their needed drivers).
Let's see, who's the first JB-Dev here... :laugh::laugh::laugh:
a big thanks to everyone already who is going to work on custom roms for our beloved device!

I don't want to complain but crazy dj is right. If we were officially supported we would get official nightlies.

We're something in between.
Other devices who are not officially supported need to port CM on their ROMs - we don't because RC from the CM-Team did that for us - and submits fixes for our device as well.
The reason we don't have nightlies is that CM doesn't add devices which aren't fully running ICS - which we don't.
but he only submits fixes for CM7 doesn't he?
Without the drivers we need a cyanogen release is just pointless we are stuck with gingerbread till lg release the official ics and maybe with an official ics rom a cyanogen jb rom can come from that.
I would be interesting to see if the Hardware Acceleration works with Jelly Bean if we have the official LG ICS Sources... Hope it works. ;-)

This is not accurate.. I have a gtab 10.1 running Cm9 nightlies and the tab does not have offial ics yet, same situation... But our dev/maintainer there is pershoot and he care about us... And release nightlies pretty often... Guess RC its just not interested in this phone anymore
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
that's not right since the Honeycomb drivers were ported and already there, in our situation we only have drivers from Froyo poorly ported by LG to Gingerbread. The leap between GB and ICS is way bigger that HC and ICS. Remember that without his work our phone would be not as good as it is with CM9. Also he still has a private life and if he takes a break , fine so be it. He doesn't owe anyone of us anything.
I'm sorry but I just couldn't let it be

Sammy ICS and CWM/Root

Does anybody know if when we got Sammy update (ICS) do we need a new version of CWM/Root?
Tks.
nobody knows when we get a update from samsung
We think this month (July)
And again we have enough threads about this
I know we are waiting for a ICS a long time but my question was not about when we are gonna get it, I wonder if I need a new clockworkmod and new root process, when sammy release ICS I intend to flash it and install all app againg, should a use a cwm compatible with ics?
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
Well yes, you'll need an ICS compatible kernel, but they already exist since some custom ICS ROMS have already been compiled in dev section, so you'll be able to root it immediately don't worry.
sent from XDA app
Actually it is a good question, but we won't know the answer before Samsung releases the update. On gt7.7 the root.zip method doesn't work with the new stock recovery, i expect it will be the same for gr8.9. There is a workaround, you need to first flash cwm recovery with Odin and then flash root.zip using cwm.

Why wait? just download a custom rom here from xda. Samsung is making us wait for a stock, poorly-optimized jellybean update
which sucks. Roms here are optimized for maximum performance cooked up nonetheless by the most talented developers/hobbyists I've ever seen. Its hard to thing that Samsung, being a large corporation with countless employees, can't even release updates on time while the devs here, albeit having their own day-to-day responsibilities and personal problems release roms overnight. WTF world

When an official jelly bean rom for the s plus?

Where o when to get the official jelly bean, not a beta or alpha?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
There won't be any official release for our device. Samsung stopped supporting our device long time ago.. Actually we don't need anyone when we have numerous choices of wonderful custom ROMs available for us which is far better than any official release..

There is no official jellybean for S plus from samsung. If you want the best jb experience you can use cm10 or cm10.1 You can find in development thread.
NEVER.. but as you can see we already have wonderful roms
That's what i mean, official i mean with play store, stable and fast, and off course cooked. I only find alpha roms and unstable. Please help, thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
All the 4.2.2 ROMs Are almost stable. Especially the cm10.1. Its on RC5 now. So how could you say its in alpha..??
Hey, if there would be any custom ROM wich is in alpha status, it would be much better than any official Samsung stockrom. In our devsection we have the best devs you could ever have. From Samsung you would have one official Jelly Bean ROM. From our devs you can have more then 15 stable JB-ROMs. Just try some and enjoy.

I know, thats why i only use our great customroms. It's better to have a full stable custom JB, than a slow buggy stock GB full of bloatware. Fact is, Samsung will never ever release an official JB for our phone.
I have tried TigerROM, Ehndroix III and Cyanogenmod 10.1 and all went PERFECT

cmon dude this is not a sure list...well hope for the best...feel lonely with jellybean
I don't get it
I've had 4.1.2 (official DBT version, international note, running straight talk) and it, without a doubt has been one of, if not the
most stable OS's I've ever used. I can go for weeks without a reboot.
What I don't understand, and I'm not trying to stir a debate, but what is it with the need, other than to take advantage of a new
app that won't run on something lower than 4.3, why bother updating to 4.4? Does it bring a new level of functionality or
features that isn't on the older version? Does your device not function now?
Other than a custom kernel to get around a potential EMMC brick problem, and rooted, this device I use is stock and flies!
I wish we her touch wiz KitKat ROM from Samsung
