Clockwork touch recovery - LG Optimus 2x

I cant flash this it just wont work.
Its been a while since i last flashed a recovery but i disabled usb mount and enabled usb debugging i launched terminal emulator and typed
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img but it keeps saying it cant find it, i noticed when i used bluetooth file manager it says it mnt/sdcard so i tried that and its still the same, i even tried root toolbox pro and erased the recovery then flashed the new touch recovery and still it doesnt work i still have clockwork mod 5.2.0.
Wtf am i doing wrong this is doing my head in, it tells me the img file doesnt exist.

Are you sure you want touch CWM? You are aware of the cache-wiping bug right?
If you're not, touch CWM has a known bug when wiping cache. This bug somehow prevents CWM from rebuilding the cache after wiping it. Therfore you'll get force closes in many apps like Market.

I didnt know that, are they fixing it?

I don't know if they're fixing it, for now I think it's better to keep your current CWM version.

Hmmm... But with CWM 5.0.2.0, (from ROM Manager) you can also use the four touch-capacitive buttons to navigate through the menus. At least on my device...
The menu button: going down
The home button: going up
The back button: back (what a surprise... )
The search button: select

Other than to flash recovery I don't use rom manager and I uninstalled it when I found they charged to install touch recovery there are other apps that flash recovery for you so I'll use them now.

[FIX] Enable download mode by force adb push update.zip without permission

MY Phone Condition:
My phone was previously install with voodoo rom and use clockwork recovery to restore to my stock rom that i backup and it crash half way.
My phone was hardware lock this mean no matter how i press the volume and power button , i will never get into download mode. non of the method posted work !
My phone cannot use "adb reboot download" because there is no OS and it was stuck in the recovery loop.
It does not have clockwork recovery because i formatted my internal sdcard
If i do have clockwork recovery and i use restore image or install new from zip , i still stuck in the recovery mode after reboot several times.
My phone does not mount to internal sdcard because i don't even know what i did on this part.
I believe i screw up my partition of the phone.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
You need the Samsung USB driver and you can get it from Here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
First Part
1. Download update.zip from the link below. This was post by another member.
The post is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804305
2. Place the update.zip in tools folder so you can push it into your phone by using adb command
3. Plug usb into the phone and your phone should be on the Android system recovery <2e>
4. Use your volume button to select reinstall package, don't press power button yet.
5. constant "adb push update.zip /sdcard" from computer , you will get permission denied.
6. While you are constantly pushing the adb command from computer. press the power button on the phone so it install update.zip from sdcard.
7. This is the part where it force adb push into sdcard without permission
8. once the update.zip install completed. unplug the usb cable from the phone and take the battery out.
9. put the battery back to the phone then press on both volume button.
10. While holding both volume button , plug in your usb cable and it will boot to download screen.
If you need use Odin to flash your phone to original stock rom. Go to the Second Part
Second Part:
If you get black screen with only 4 light on the bottom after flashing from Odin.
Follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728698
There should be T959-PDA.tar,T959-CSC.tar and T959-Phone.tar within the package.
Check "Re-Partition" , "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" check box. Use the PIT 0512 version. Use "PDA", "PHONE" and "CSC" from the link above.
After flashing with Odin, you will loose the download mode. repeat the first part and you are good to go.
Here is the link on rooting the phone

You figure it out after all. I already stated the condition of my phone ! My phone was pretty bricked at that point. There is way for me to push any files into the phone because i don't have permission and my phone will not go to download mode by using the volume button. It just stuck at recovery mode.
There are guide out there teach you to use "adb push download". This method only work if you are in your phone and you turn on debug mode. My phone crash at the clockwork recovery bootloader. Then i formated my internal sdcard that hold the clockwork. next i push a stock update.zip that does not have su and busybox so i lost the capability to push anything into the phone.
no download mode , no permission, no sdcard --> You tell me how can i use the method that post few week ago ?

unfortunately, i was one of those careless people to brick my phone via Voodoo.
Firstly, i tried to "FLASH" the disable_voodoo zip file via Clockwork, i put it in root, and never created any folders. i knew i had to disable voodoo before flashing but my steps were wrong.
sadly enough, my phone was also HW locked, so i got it exchanged. now im not using voodoo YET and i my new vibrant can handle OC and has the recovery/download mode via buttons.

i use shell to create the file that disable voodoo. after disable voodoo , i was able to do restore and install new rom unfortunately after restore or install new rom , it still reboot into recovery.
I also forgot to disable voodoo, and this was before there were fix instructions posted. So i basically effed up my phone to the point of being stuck in the samsung recovery loop, no hardware download mode, no clockwork recovery, no update.zp, no adb download.
I really thought I had completely bricked my phone, I tried this just out of desperation and what do you know, push update.zip over and over and click and it goes through, which allowed me to get into download mode.

nice , you just have to re-root and install the new rom again , if it brick again , just use this method and you are good again.many of us forgot to disable the voodoo before we restore or install new rom and this crashes the phone.
Need some help really bad
Ok so I have a similar situation as you did (OP), only mine is a bit worse... In my irrational "in the moment" fear of the situation, I used adb reboot recovery to get into recovery mode (HW locked phone) and I did the option that deletes all the **** on the phone and restores the phone to its original format (I think it reinstalled the OS or something, because it looks brand new). So now, whenever I boot up, it does the annoying black screen with the 4 glowing buttons thing for a while, and then eventually the OS actually shows up on the screen. Then it does "scanning media" thing over and over again, but thats not the main problem. I figured, hey this isnt so bad atleast I found your thread and would be able to use your method to help restore my phone... the problem is that somehow my "settings" button is totally gone from the app menu, and I cant get it into debug mode, so I cant use either adb or your method or ANYTHING!! My phone is practically bricked as I cant do anything because its constantly laggy and turns back to the black screen thing, and then when it is showing the homescreen I cant do **** because even swiping to another screen takes like 5 minutes to do cause its so laggy. So basically I ****ed up, and I really need some help.. Im kinda a noob at this whole thing and im really outa options as far as I can tell.. does anyone know what I can do to repair my phone? Thanks!

Navigate recovery with dead power button?

I'm helping a friend flash cyanogen on his nexus (its already rooted) with the famous power button issue. Can the trackball click instead of power?
And the bigger question, I know I can use rom manager to reboot into recovery, but how can I get into recovery from bootup? I read a trick about using the usb to jumpstart it, can that help get it into recovery?
I'm amazed that I can't find any info about this searching. Maybe bad wording?

Geeze, tried to reply a while ago and the page had no post reply buttons...
Anyways, what I am scared of *unlikely* is a bootloop. I know you can use ADB i just don't know how to access in a way I can flash if it's bootlooping and I can't just open the recovery easily.
Yes, you can navigate recovery with the trackball. Like you say, the biggest problem is getting into recovery if you can't boot...
If the "fit hits the shan", you can always unlock the bootloader, and flash images with fastboot...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
hrm, I've done some fast boot on my G2 but I just did a reboot fastboot so I'm not sure how that works haha. I'll look into that if it ever arises but I doubt I'll encounter a boot loop. He was saying he doesn't think the Recovery will trackball navigate, but he has a Vibrant with no trackball so he's not used to it lol
Trackball navigation is in both Amon_Ra and Clockwork, so it's not a problem.
Getting into recovery w/o power button and w/o fastboot is tricky, if your ROM bootloops - if you don't have USB debugging enabled, you might be out of options.

Always on by Default for me lol
I had this exact problem on my old N1, here's how I was always prepared for bootloops should they happen: Link. An alternative way is to use PASSIMG method as this will wipe and flash a stock ROM which you can then adb reboot recovery to restore your nand backup. Either of these ways, although not the quickest, will guarantee that you can get back to recovery.
Oo awesome Exactly the kind of info I couldn't find in a search lol. *Bookmark*

LG Marquee has CWM.

Okay guys, I thought what the hell, I'll try the LGE Black option in ROM manager and see what happens.
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Use the volume keys to move and the search button to select.
The first boot into it, you will get all kinds of errors saying it can't mount certain files.
Go to "Mounts and Storage" and select "mount /cache". The errors will go away.
Everything seems to work as it should.
A quirk that I found was that until you "Wipe cache partition" you will be stuck in recovery and you cannot get out. Once done, "Reboot System Now" and everything works great.
One last thing, I cannot figure out how to key combo into recovery. I have to use ROM manager to access it.
NOTE:CWM messes up turning off the phone. Pressing the power button and selecting OK to turn off will now reset the phone and then boot it back up. Now only way to power off phone (besides pulling battery) is to use ROM Manager to boot into recovery, wipe the cache, then select power off.
good news dude
no key combo on Black, I think it's the same on Marquee

I have tried and you do not get a complete backup. You do get the boot and recovery img files but not much else.
I have tried (without luck) via twitter to contact Koushik Dutta, the man responsible for CWM. We really need his assistance for this to move forward.
well, I know its possible to use the Android Terminal Emulator to flash a custom recovery image from your sd card;
thedroiddemos.com/2010/07/23/how-to-flash-a-custom-recovery-on-android-tutorial
I wonder if it can be used to generate an image of your phones current state to create your own back up and file it on your sd card.
Haven't tried to do any type of restore yet. I have managed to get the boot and recovery IMG files and used adb to get a copy of the system files.
(The LG-Black Dev's are using these files to develop their Gingerbread version.)
I might try to figure out how to do this from the link you gave. If I do, I will post what I find out.
Honestly though, after guinea pigging the root and CWM without total bricking the phone, I'm afraid of pushing my luck too far.
It would be nice if some more people would jump in and help with some of this but I guess the phone is to new to have very many users. Seems like I see the same few names on the three Marquee forums I know of.
I know what you mean. I'm starting to think you are the only one out there with a rooted Marquee.
Hang in there... I think once all the chaos from the iphone settles down, more people will have the Marquee. Most stores in my area are saying they don't even have it. They don't even have them on display.

any response from koush?
Also, I was wondering...
I often download files from peers in forums instead of going strait to the source. I saw that you got CWM from the android marketplace via Rom Manager...
Do you have the premium version?

hey guys, I have done a backup of my stock rom from cwm, I think it worked, but I have no reason to flash it back yet, I'm as geeked as everyone else for roms on this thing, but I still miss my captivate, firefly was awesome
well then, THAT's interesting. So everything appears to be working in CWM for you? Just using the OPBlack version?

But I honestly haven't had enough time to delve into this much. I had the Marquee for about 2 weeks or so, but had to temporarily switch for work-related reasons. Will probably switch back to it as my personal phone, so I would love to see / hear some progress on this.
Didn't work quit as well for me... When I tried to mount the cache I got an error. The only way I could get out of the recovery screen was to 'Wipe Cache Partition'
By the way THANK YOU for posting that. I could not figure out how to get out of that screen. My phone is rooted and I have been waiting for people to develop... but it looks like there are not many people developing on the Marquee

strange, to get into recovery you must hold down the home key as you power on, this sounds as simple as a stuck home key. but thats unlikely if you have been using your phone without any issue until now (im assuming this)

i have ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7 and i use the common method.
wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition and then install the rom. at the 2nd attempt i wipe also the dalvik cache and at the 3rd attempt i use ohsaka-superwipe. but it all the same. after installing, it reboot to recovery. i don't know what the problem is. because i've already tried to install froyo by laszlo and even the AOSP 4.0.1 Alpha 2. but i get no problem going back to yoshi after trying those rom and i use the same recoverymod. and yeah i don't have any button problem at my phone. and here im using my phone again with CM7 because i can't go back to GingerYoshi. so i just install cm7 again. and i got no problem
it sounds like you are doing everything right. best guess is that you have a bad gingeryoshi update.zip - try going to the thread and downloading again gingeryoshi, then reinstall this to your phone.

[Q] Install untrusted package when booting into cwm

Whenever I boot into Clockworkmod Recovery, it wants to install a package. Clicking on Yes, No or Go back tells me 'install aborted' and reboots the phone making it inpossible to backup, install new roms ect. It also happens with ROM Manager.
The only way I can get around this is with CM Updater, which lets me update the phone no problem.
My Phone is running Cm10.1-20130725-NIGHTLY with Stock Kernel
Is there a way to fix this without having to go to Odin and reflash my phone from the beginning?
(sorry if its in the wrong section)
Edit: Fixed, ROM Manager was the reason it happened and I was using the wrong button conbination. I should have done more research
What combination do you use? the download-mod???
