Im running the Eclipse 901 on my Bionic and the only thing that bothers me is that i cant send group texts, is there any way for me to get the text messaging app that comes with the phone back? since the Eclipse ROM removed it. it would be much appreciated if anyone can help me.
btw sorry if this is in the wrong section
No you can't cause eclipse has blur removed so you can't use the stock launcher not the messaging app as far as I am aware cause I thinks it is a non blur device

Unfreeze stock messaging. Disable notifications in stock messaging program.
Why? Programs like go sms and hand cent are not messaging replacement programs. The rely on the stock messaging framework to work themselves. Let me know if that works.

No Handcent got an update a few months ago so it could be a stock replacement. You have to check it in the settings though.

With the new update I don't see that option anymore...and now it stopped working again even with the stock messaging app unfrozen.
Anyone else seeing this?
Anyone using the native lockscreen? I have a question.
I use chomp SMS as my messaging client and I get numerous message counts on the lockscreen from the native messaging app. Is there any way to shut off that notification? Or do I have to use a different lockscreen? I really don't wanna have to use a different lockscreen. I'm actually trying to leave it as stock as I can.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am like you for the moment I am liking the stock look and feel of this phone for now. I do really like GoSMS because of how customizable it is but also because when you are setting up it does a brief setting check to see how the stock messaging app. is set and then tells you what to turn off. It is a pretty slick low resource using messaging app. I dig it.
If you have never tried it you might want to give that app. a shot. IMO it is one of the better messaging apps. out there. Here is a link to it on the market.

I used GoSMS for awhile. I like it too but it still doesn't shut off the SMS count on the lockscreen.

Weird. I don't like the count on the screen either and there is a setting in both the stock and GoSMS settings that offers the option to disable the count for the lock screen. Maybe it is something specific with the Thrill. I don't know but now I am curious. I am going to look further into it. I check back and see if you found something before I do.
This has actually been mentioned in some review articles and as far as I know the reviewer was never able to actually get a fix for it other than to use the stock sms/mms. It is software related as far as they saw so the dev for chompSMS and what not will have to fix it.
Hey cool man thanks for the update. Because I had not found anything yet. LOL!

There is no way to disable it though the stock apps or settings. i use hancent sms and it has an option to set it as the default app for sms, mms, or all. when you pick both, the stock messaging app is bypassed until the next boot up, but only displays the notification until you open either handcent or the stock app. i have noticed too, that if you want to set a custom ringtone through an alternate messaging app, the stock notification ringtone must be set to silent or be turned off completely to work right. this can always be different for other phones though.
If you are rooted (or willing to do so), you can install Titanium Backup, create a backup of the stock messaging app, then uninstall it that way. No unread message count anymore. You can always reinstall it if you wish to go back completely stock.
Is anyone having keyboard issues on their bionic on stock rom? im on phone number 2 due to the first ones screen being defective, and both of them seem to have this issue
Basically what it does is when im texting/using a app like gochat (a messaging app for facebook), sometimes the keyboard (using the stock app not swype) goes very slow like its lagging, then it force closes stating Sorry! The application Multi-touch keyboard (process.com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any idea why it does this?
Never had that happen with mine but I use facebooks own app not third party

hmm. i didnt want to install the facebook app because i thought it would be redundant to have that AND the facebook account linked in the social networking app of the bionic. Ive had no problem really with gochat on my OG driod.
To clarify, are you using the Facebook App? or just the facebook messenger app from the marketplace?
I used to have an OG Droid and got the Bionic on release date. I have searched, and searched and found nothing on this topic anywhere on the internet (which I find odd). Is there a reason the "auto refresh" feature for twitter does not show up on the bionic?
Also is there another app, or does the built-in blur twitter use push notifications?
TIA
I believe it is the last reason you stated. Go to settings>accounts>twitter. Check the menus in there. There is also a place in settings that lists social status update settings. Let me look quick and I'll update.
Go into settings>battery and data manager>data services?(bottom one)>social applications. Check to see if push is enabled.

Is that only for the built-in BLUR social messaging (I knew the setting was there, but wasn't sure if it only applied to BLUR apps)? If so I cannot see any setting in the BLUR twitter account to receive notifications for tweets, is there one?
Since this phone has a native twitter client built in, I don't think you can get push from the market app - similar to FB.
My advice? Download tweetcaster. Problem solved and better app.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because the "social networking" application is pretty terrible/featureless. Tweetcaster has push notifications?
edit: Also I was on Liberty, not stock and the option still wasn't there so maybe it is something Motorola did inside of their source. I might look around at it today and see if I can find the culprit for this.
edit2:
reddit.com/r/Android/comments/j6z4p/anyone_else_notice_automatic_refresh_missing_in/
It seems this issue may not be tied to Motorola, but instead the official twitter app. However I have looked at the other twitter apps and do not see push notifications (or c2dm) mentioned anywhere.
Tweetcaster has push.

Interesting as it would not appear so by looking at the settings since the settings show different refresh times, and no option for push/c2dm. Is tweetdeck also this way?
edit: Tweetcaster definitely does not have push/c2dm messaging.
Bump. Does anyone have any idea? And if tweetcaster has push notifications how do you enable them?
TIA
It's missing in Sense 4.2.2?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I thought quick reply was something implemented by CyanogenMod?
A lot of 4.2.2 stuff is missing from Sense 4.2.2. Like lock screen widgets for example.
Stock messaging app won't have it. Only apps that I know that allow this are sliding messaging (not sure if you need pro or not) and Textra which I'm currently using. I'd still be on sliding messaging pro but it can get a bit sluggish at times. Textra is really really smooth
