Quick reply 4.2.2 - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's missing in Sense 4.2.2?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

I thought quick reply was something implemented by CyanogenMod?
A lot of 4.2.2 stuff is missing from Sense 4.2.2. Like lock screen widgets for example.

Stock messaging app won't have it. Only apps that I know that allow this are sliding messaging (not sure if you need pro or not) and Textra which I'm currently using. I'd still be on sliding messaging pro but it can get a bit sluggish at times. Textra is really really smooth

Unfreeze stock messaging. Disable notifications in stock messaging program.
Why? Programs like go sms and hand cent are not messaging replacement programs. The rely on the stock messaging framework to work themselves. Let me know if that works.

No Handcent got an update a few months ago so it could be a stock replacement. You have to check it in the settings though.

With the new update I don't see that option anymore...and now it stopped working again even with the stock messaging app unfrozen.
Anyone else seeing this?

LG Thrill Lockscreen

Anyone using the native lockscreen? I have a question.
I use chomp SMS as my messaging client and I get numerous message counts on the lockscreen from the native messaging app. Is there any way to shut off that notification? Or do I have to use a different lockscreen? I really don't wanna have to use a different lockscreen. I'm actually trying to leave it as stock as I can.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am like you for the moment I am liking the stock look and feel of this phone for now. I do really like GoSMS because of how customizable it is but also because when you are setting up it does a brief setting check to see how the stock messaging app. is set and then tells you what to turn off. It is a pretty slick low resource using messaging app. I dig it.
If you have never tried it you might want to give that app. a shot. IMO it is one of the better messaging apps. out there. Here is a link to it on the market.

I used GoSMS for awhile. I like it too but it still doesn't shut off the SMS count on the lockscreen.

Weird. I don't like the count on the screen either and there is a setting in both the stock and GoSMS settings that offers the option to disable the count for the lock screen. Maybe it is something specific with the Thrill. I don't know but now I am curious. I am going to look further into it. I check back and see if you found something before I do.
This has actually been mentioned in some review articles and as far as I know the reviewer was never able to actually get a fix for it other than to use the stock sms/mms. It is software related as far as they saw so the dev for chompSMS and what not will have to fix it.
Hey cool man thanks for the update. Because I had not found anything yet. LOL!

There is no way to disable it though the stock apps or settings. i use hancent sms and it has an option to set it as the default app for sms, mms, or all. when you pick both, the stock messaging app is bypassed until the next boot up, but only displays the notification until you open either handcent or the stock app. i have noticed too, that if you want to set a custom ringtone through an alternate messaging app, the stock notification ringtone must be set to silent or be turned off completely to work right. this can always be different for other phones though.
If you are rooted (or willing to do so), you can install Titanium Backup, create a backup of the stock messaging app, then uninstall it that way. No unread message count anymore. You can always reinstall it if you wish to go back completely stock.

[Q] Blur Text Messaging App

Im running the Eclipse 901 on my Bionic and the only thing that bothers me is that i cant send group texts, is there any way for me to get the text messaging app that comes with the phone back? since the Eclipse ROM removed it. it would be much appreciated if anyone can help me.
btw sorry if this is in the wrong section
No you can't cause eclipse has blur removed so you can't use the stock launcher not the messaging app as far as I am aware cause I thinks it is a non blur device

Hi guys, just moved over to the Z from the S3 and I love it. It's even the first time I've liked the default MMS app on a phone however Sony's MMS app does not support emoji icons or pop up messages so im wondering if any of the awesome devs could get the CM10.1 MMS.apk on the Z? I had it running Freda on the S3. I would be ever grateful

Someone pls advise if the lockscreen and email apps can be replaced with the ones from CM JB?
The CM email app supports non-standard exchange server port and the stock CM lockscreen supports shortcuts to dialer etc. I do know abt the 3rd party apps out there, but would really like to replace those permanently...

This pop up notification miss me:crying:
Can I suggest an app and an addon?
Hi, a (at least temporary solution) is to use a different app,
I've been using GO SMS Pro with Emoji Plugin for a while now (shows and can use iPhone emoji icons )
It also has text popups which I find insanely useful
Go SMS Pro:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms
Emoji Plugin:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms.emoji
In addition, you can find a theme that you like the look of too
I think Handcent does this too, but I've never used it for very long (didn't like it too much)
Handcent:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms
Emoji Plugin:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.plugin.emoji
Hope this helps some people, at least temporarily?

Here it is (taken from FXP211).
Works perfectly for me. Just copy it to /system/app (don't forget the permissions - 644/rw-r--r--).
Oh yeah, delete (or better backup somewhere) Conversations.apk from /system/app to remove the Sony mms app.

Horrible Multitasking?

I posted this in the Sprint HTC One forums and got little in reply, let me know whose you guys think
I don't know if this is an issue with 4.3 specifically because I don't recall if this was happening since I installed the update..but my multitasking with this phone has been horrible lately. I mean no matter what app I switch to it begins to reload, even if it's the last one I used or a light application (ex Google Now to Messaging). I already found it frustrating how upon switching apps with this phone it would show you a frozen image for a brief moment before before allowing you to interact with the actual application, but now apps are actually having to reload. I'm using apex pro and it's also redrawing nearly every time I go back to the homescreen, be it from internet, floorboard, messaging etc. Not sure why it's happening but it started like a week ago and my phone has been feeling pretty ****ty because of it. My GS4 w/touchwiz has less multitasking issues than this phone right now, any ideas on what's going on? Stock unrooted 4.3

Isn't there a specific setting that locks the launcher in memory to prevent the redraws? Are you running a custom rom or you're using apex on a stock rom?

There is that setting, but when it's enabled a notification sits in the dropdown that says to remove apex from the permanent memory, you can't swipe it away either. Really stupid, never seen a phone with that notification before, my s2 with 1gb of ram multitasked amazing. Regardless it's all aspects of multitasking not just launcher redraw, if I switch from messages to setting and then back to massages, it'll have to reload regardless of how light of an app it is.
Stock unrooted 4.3. Rebooting gives me a few days without hindrance but eventually the problem resurfaces, I barely have any apps installed and none of them are out of the ordinary.
