Hi,
I've tried to flash my Galaxy Note to siyah kernel, and unfortunately it got bricked. It was turning on, however after samsung logo showing up, it was showing distorted colors and lines.
I've bought a jig, it showed the download mode screen for a second and turned off. I wanted to charge it, charging suddenly stopped, and started to not turn on.
I've bought a battery charger, charged the battery overnight, still not turning on.
I'm in USA and I got my phone via Expansys-usa, what shall I do ?
Can you get to Download Mode screen now that it's charged? Press Volume Down + Home Button + Power simultaneously (Power button the last) and tell us if you can boot into Download Mode.
If you can, I'll walk you through to getting your Note alive and kicking again.
Unfortunately, I can not get any signal of life from my phone. I can not get to Download Mode screen neither with jig, nor with pressing 3 buttons. I guess I'll have to send it back.

It seems to be your only option if you cannot get your Note to boot into Download mode. My commiserations, mate.

Pull out the battery and put back after 20-30 secs. Then try download mode normally pressing hardware buttons, otherwise use JIG.
Nope, it doesn't charge at all. I've tried every method again, nothing seems to work.

Did you manage to get it to go into download mode again? I am in the same situation.
It says, low battery can't get into download mode. Since it doesn't charge I'm going to buy another battery and battery charger and will try again.
You could also try an external battery charger, this would be a cheaper solution.
Very sorry for you, but where did you got siyah kernel for note...
Did you flash the one for galaxy s2?
Dont worry ur phone working it just no sound and no lights, screen off......but he can see odin.....go and try 30 times.....(download mode >>>odin)
Take the damn battery out.
Wait 7 sec
Put it back.
Press Volume Down + Home Button + Power* ( Your screen will be off !)
Connect to the PC odin and it will be sound witch is mean your phone connected to odin)
Do it., and dont tell me you cant
Yep, I've used the one for GS2. I've got a new charger with a battery and now can get into download mode. Odin recognizes it, however I don't remember which Stock Rom the phone came with. Which one I should go for ?

Yesterday, I was flashing back to the JH6 again. It stuck at factory.rfs for a long time. Then, I tried to restart. After phone is off, it couldn't turn on any more. No matter, press vol down + power or press vol up and down then plug in usb with ODIN on. Or just press power button. I've tried the whole day even try to put on wall charger overnight. There is no battery screen during charge just for the reference.
It seems there is no way to bring it back other than jtag? anyone has any experience about this dead phone and bring it back to life?
Thanks.
Have you tried another battery? Just to make sure it didn't take a dump. It has been reported by very few that has happened.
Same thing happened to me it froze during the Factory.rfs so I turned it off and the phone wouldn't turn back on. I panicked and found somewhere else on these forums although I cannot find the thread again. What I did I just plugged my phone into the wall charger for a couple minutes with the battery. Then I unplugged it and took the battery out for a another minute then put the battery in and try to turn it on while holding the volume - or + I forgot, and if you start to see Orange Text being dumped to your screen chances are you can force it back into Download Mode. Just keep trying different button combos to get it working, unless I was extremely lucky but I do not think these phones can be bricked so easily.
Thanks. I did see the thread you mentioned and tried every way I can but not available. Fortunately, I got ATT warranty center to send me a replacement. However, the only catch is that I'm not sure if it's unlockable now since it might come with JH7. If that's the case, I'm gonna sell it and get other phone.
samsung captivate brick
i have the same problem... im running windows 7 x64(64 bit) and i was updating my phone to the rooted 2.2 froyo update via odin with the "I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears" while updating the phone when the odin program froze and ruined/bricked my phone... i have tried all the steps to try and un-brick my phone but at this point im about ready to give up.... at this point my phone will not power on in any mode nor will it go into recovery mode or download mode... if any one has any info on how to fix this please let me know....
Hello.
I'll get straight to the facts.
I had my phone rooted with Odinv3 using "busybox" (is all i can see on my downloads).
I then went to update to Gingerbread today, but didn't realise I had to un-root the phone!
So this made the phone keep refreshing the samsung galaxy S screen.
I then went to reboot to stock using this thread. Said it passed etc.
Now my phone is completely dead. It won't turn on. Nothing at all when i get it into download mode. No lights turn on. Odin *does* recognise it when I plug it in, the yellow box lights up.
The computer makes a noise to recognise that somethings been plugged in.
But alas nothing on the phone. I've left the battery out and tried it in but nothing.
What can I do please?! I am stuck here. And fear i just have wasted a great sum of money...
Will I be able to take it back on warranty? I haven't had it long, 3 months or so. Would they recognise it has been rooted despite it being put back to stock software.
Thanks. Daniel
You are a bit unclear, can you get download mode with 3 button combo?
Sent from my GT-I9000
tried many times to remove and replace the battery worked for me
sorry for the google translation
I managed to get into download mode by doing a 3 button combo earlier, can't remember what it was but I had to hold three buttons *THEN* fit my battery. THen it went into download mode. I can't remember which combo it was though as i've tried loads before and they didn't work!
It won't do anything now though.
Could i have booted it with a wrong ROM and that's why it won't load?
How come Odin picks it up and it goes through that passing etc?
THis si so annoying.
Volume down/power/home hold til galaxy s logo then release a yellow logo should appear

Sorry for opening an old thread. But i have aproximately the same problem with one exception:
Odin won't regognize my phone.
I was just in the process of installing this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136449
It got to the first step: "DO NOT POWER OFF DEVICE!!".. and then nothing. Sat there for 15 minutes untill i unplugged it.
shut down the phone using the power button, but now.. its completely dead.
This was offcourse before I realized i had just tried to install a ROM for SGS.. not SGSII.
So.
Odin doesnt recognize the phone.
The phone won't turn on, no matter what I do.
Nothing happens when I try to charge the phone.
I've tried pulling the battery several times, but its just .. dead.
However, when I plug in the battery, the phone seems to get hot. Not very hot, but just slightly above 25 degrees (aprox).
I'm afraid i've f*cked up big time, and have to send it in for a repair..
Anyone have a tip of what I can do ?
(Yes, the battery is charged - not empty).
Have you tried going into download mode again? does the screen power up at all?
My advice is try to leave the battery out for 15-30 minutes, then try getting into Download mode again, with the USB cable already plugged in and ODIN running on your machine.
See if ODIN can detect it and work from there... May be better than nothing. Hope this helps.

Did you know how to flashing the rom (via CWM) ? You have to notice your battery percentage first.
What exactly were you flashing? CF-root? where did you get it from?
I had the battery out through the night and tried again this morning.. didnt work..
It SEEMS to be completely dead.. (with exception from that the cpu gets hot when battery is plugged in.. )
I tried flashing this:
http://www.multiupload.com/6QNW8P7DTY
I came as far as "Setting PIT file.." "DO NOT TURN OFF" in odin, and then everything stopped.
The battery was at 70% when i started the process.
The phone have only been on for about 20 minutes since.
First time poster, long time lurker.
I purchased a used Samsung Captivate for the wife. When I bought it, it had already been unlocked and the CoolMod v 4.0 custom ROM was running on it. The wife tried to turn it off and when she hit the power button, it went to download mode. She is now worried because phone says "do not turn off Target"
Did she brick the phone?
Rofl, no its not bricked.
That message means once you plug it into the PC don't unplug it until the firmware download is done. But since you aren't flashing anything its meaningless.
Just either hold all three buttons (volume +- and power) until you see the white at&t screen them let go, that'll boot into recovery where you can restart the device.
Or you can simply pull the battery and boot normally.
Never mind. I went ahead and used Odin and flashed Serendipity. It was the fastest way to get out of Download mode and get a newer rom anyway.
Studacris, I figured it could be something as simple as that, but went ahead and flashed it anyhow. My experience flashing was limited to my HTC Raphael, never worked with Android. Maybe I will get myself an Android phone and start playing with them...without having my wife looking so scared!
If you hold vol+ and the power button it forces reboot while in download mode or running in rom

Help to get out of download
I did almost the same thing. Go to airplane mode at night, use the alarm to wake up. Half asleep I hit the download mode instead of airplane to turn it off. 5:00 AM. Pulled battery and sim card waited till about 9:00 and installed battery went right into dl mode. Pulled again and waited till I got home around 4 PM same thing.
Tryed combination of buttons and no luck. + and power the download goes off then comes back. Waited till the second time and let off power held + no recovery mode. I know longwinded just waited to give details.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

It looks like other people with this issue had a hardware problem with their USB port. Some people had success with plugging their phone into the charger and then turning it on. Worth a shot anyway.
bad news good news

I just gave that a shot. No luck. I called AT&T this morn and asked if I could update early. So I have a SGS 2 coming. Paid the $199 update price.
Been lurking over there and researching.
Just pull the battery out to get out of download mode
Dear all,
Yesterday, my Galaxy tab p1000 used normally. However, today, I can't power it on. It can't be due to batterry because I remember I charged it fully. My tab is running ICS 4.0.4 and everything is okay. Now I try many ways but it doesn't make any flash
Do you know what the error is? How to force it to power on?
I have tried to go to recovery mode and download mode but in vain. It seem deadly.
Hi
when you connect it to your computer, is it showing in sign of life? (on odin or heimdal) if it's a No, try to let it charge for 4 hours and then try to get it in recovery or download mode, if you get nothing, then look in YouTube for a video to how open your tab and unplug the battery for 5 minutes and plug it back, if nothing happen, get a new battery
ps : if your tab is still on warranty, don't do anything from above, get it to Samsung and let them do their Job.
best regards ^_^

Maybe it's time to upgrade to build 40?
Have you tried to go to recovery mode? download mode? or press the power button while plugged in to computer/or wall for more than 5 seconds?
it has no signs of life. I have tried every ways I know: go to recovery mode, download mode, plug-in computers... Perhaps I have to open it to do something with the battery. But, it have just changed it full a day ago. It can't run out of batterry so quickly.

you can't assume that the battery isn't dead, even if you charged it fully a day before, and maybe if you unplug it and plug it back it will came to life, we don't know

I had the same problem. I opened mine up and unplugged the battery for an hour. Then I charged it for 24 hours. Tap the screen and keep hitting the power button. That's how I got mine working. I hope this helps
P.s if you have warranty. Just send it in

I brought it to a warranty centre and they said the IC is dead. (the chip to power on) They asked me for 100$ for a new IC. hic hic. I didn't see they replaced it or not. Is there any way to check whether the new IC was replaced?
my device is an SM-N960F variant. i was in recovery and was rebooting just fine. i changed the theme in the recovery (its the unofficial orange fox in the exynos roms page) and when i rebooted again it is now stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note9 splash screen. I cannot get into recovery (with the vol up+bixby+power) nor can i get into download mode (also with the button combos). I read elsewhere that i should let the battery drain then try the button combos again, but i dont exactly know how long it will take to drain, nor do i have the time (it was at 36% or thereabouts before this happened) or a spare phone. Is there a way to force shut it down without it rebooting (basically the vol down+power for 7 sec, but no reboot)? even if i let it die/get it turned all the way off, what are the chances its fully bricked? im gonna take a wild guess that if it still doesnt work after it dies that the phone is now completely rendered useless? thank you for the help and everything.
I have let it die fully, even upon connecting to the cable it still will not do anything but display the Note9 splash screen. Im gonna assume its f*cked, right?
same, idk what happened but same thing

Try to go to download mode then flash latest firmware. The phone must be off, then press volume down & bixby buttons, at the same time connect your phone to the PC via USB cable. Be sure the phone's battery charge is more than 50% or better still not less than 80% before flashing any firmware.

The problem is that the phone is just booting and just do nothing. It doesn't go to recovery or download mode, just rebooting itself. It's just horrible lol
