How long does your stock or extended battery last?
Please indicate your ROM , kernel, CPU settings and voltage and if it is stock or extended battery..
How long does it take to fully charge your battery and is it really necessary to fully charge the battery?
Coz i read some article at google that never to fully charge and discharged o2x or g2x battery..
Thanks!

Hi, i have a stock battery and lasts me anywhere from 10hrs to about 27hrs depending on usage, i usually let my battery run down to about 20% then fully charge because i too have also read somewhere that these batteries dont respond well to fully discharging, i must admit my battery life has increased since i stopped fully discharging, not sure of the reasons for why that would make a difference.
so far, my battery lasts 4-10hrs on daily use (music, some 3G, some 2G, texting) which depresses me a little (got my phone sth like 3 days ago, cant get my hands off it yet. )
im on a rebuild of stock v20l and guestekrnl v1.1. stock battery.
indeed you shouldnt completely discharge li-ion-batterys, but you can and should charge them to 100%. its also recommended to completely discharge the battery every 4-8 weeks, leave it like that for 5-6 hours and then fully charge it.
ROM: Temasek KANG 67
Kernel: ETaNa Kernel 22. Feb. I use the recommended setCPU Profiles from Vadonka with the predefined UV Voltages from the tweakaio.conf
Battery: Stock
Battery lasts from 14h to 2,5 days depending on usage. In normal usage (phoning, some SMS, little bit surfing, listen music) it lasts 20h to 1,5 days. Normaly i am on 2g, only aktivate 3g when needed.

Hi langhaardack, I have no idea where you learned this was a good idea. But as you stated, completely discharging lithium ion batteries is VERY bad, and causes small but irreversible damage. Lithium ion batteries should be kept above 20% when ever possible. Ultimately, any damage caused by the user is moot because we ANDROID users can replace the battery for a few Pounds, Euros, or rupees, depending on your local currency.
In fact, a few weeks ago I bought an extended battery, 2400mAh for £13. It does make the slender O2X a bit fatter, but you can "cane" that sucker for 20+ hours of über heavy use. Normal usage will get you 48 hours without breaking a sweat.
I hope this is helpful. Back to the topic.
ROM ICS, stock kernel, with the display used for 2 hours, I get 8-10 hours on the stock battery.

Have been on GB for awhile now and for the most part, I'm loving it. I just read a post where the op says that Darky's gb roms have great battery life. I've been on Contiuum 5.5 since it came out, and I love Cezar's roms, but the gb one's seem to have less than desirable batt life.
I guess my question is this: It's been awhile now since I was on froyo and so I can't recall how battery life was. I'm thinking about going back, just for that reason. BUT, don't want to go through the whole process if batt life was just minimally better than 2.3.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Friday

I agree also, my battery life is the best it ever was. When I come home from school my battery life is around 80-75 percent. Versus on Froyo which would be around 45-40 percent.

GB has given me great battery life. On days that I play with my phone for hours (games, music, news, txt) at the end of day I would have less than 10% battery life. Now (with exception of when I use Netflix on 3G) I can't get below 60%.

No, I use xcal kernel because I felt like my phone had more problems when I tried playing with UC or OC. Where I found my control is managing what apps are installed on my phone. Anything that is a resource hog is gone and anything that needs to connect to data all the time is gone. I also froze (using TiBu) google maps and SNS. Those two items on gingerbread seem to drain my battery.
24 hour battery life with heavy usage is doable.
EDIT: Did you flash to a GB ROM without clearing battery stats/flashing without a fully charged battery?

It allows you to sync your Facebook, Twitter and Myspace accounts with the phone. Since I use Tweetdeck the only other purpose I would have it is to sync Facebook pictures with my contacts. Since I flash so often, its one less thing I have to link.
I learned that if I freeze SNS and install the Facebook app, I still can't sync the contact pictures.
I am on hour 36 with moderate usage with over half a battery left using Contiuum 5.x It is awesome!
I've tried several GB kernals and ROMs and my battery life sucks!
I can't get 24 hours out of any of them even with minimal use.
And yes I did a charge bump and no I don't have any widgets running and yes I froze maps and no I'm not OC'd.
I'm lucky if I get 10-12 hours.
I love GB and the speed and smoothness but this battery thing is giving me pause.

I get about 18 hours on a battery with heavy use. Have you updated maps? The new updates are killers on battery sense it always restarts. Do you leave wifi and by on? These will also cause your battery to drain

LOL @ KT!
Maybe I just need a new batt?
For those that haven't saw it yet:
Now that my battery stats are functioning after a few cycles, I'm getting phenomenal battery life.
The picture below documents it. It's probably light use for most of you - an handful of calls, checking my email every couple hours, an hour of music playing on a walk. I also shut off auto-rotate last night, hearing that it may solve the "charge drop" issue, and maybe that contributes to the following.
Today android os usage was about 5 hours and killed my battery. Could not get it to stop either even with reboots. Very annoying. Hasnt been happening much till today.

I diconnected my phone from the charger, and it was at 100% at 830 this morning and now at 1130 it is at 56%/. This is after probably abotu 1-1.5 hours of browsing the web on my phone and configuring widgets.
I was wondering if that is normal battery drain? I have been flashing my phone quite a bit lately and it seems that the battery life is not that great. I have already recalibrated my battery as well.
Also my phone is overclocked to 1.3ghz.
You might want a second opinion but I'm going to say yes

1130 AM? If so that is not good at all.
Not good at all, I am running Pinnacle 1.2 for 29. 5 hours since last charge and I have 29% remaining, that includes roughly 3 hours display on time and just shy of 1 hour phone calls.
Very happy with Pinnacle 1.2

If you're on Apex, try going without the overclock and switching to the DarkCore kernel. That might help your battery life a little bit.
Did the phone feel hot?
What kind of sites were you hitting? White background? Lot's of Flash?
You've got three things that I see hitting your battery hard - the data transfers, the screen and the CPU usage. Depending on how your overclock is set up, I'd guess it's causing your CPU to use at least 30% more juice.
I can get days of idle time, but only hours of heavy use out of my battery. There are certain web sites and games that seem to suck the battery dry.

I've tried different settings on my phone and have not been able to get your kind of battery life.
I recently flashed MosaicVI and using the JV6 modem. After using this modem I have been getting better results but not quite as good as your.
What I'm trying to find out is there any certain setting you have your phone in, i.e. only on WiFI, Auto Display, sound, Disabling Your data when not using it? I would really love to get this kind of results. I'm sure everyone else would to.
Oh, I've also cycled my phone battery 3 times everytime I flash a different ROM. Please school me up on how to get those results.
P.S. I tried to quote you and reply but me being new to posting comments did not let me.
Go to market and download "Data switch". You will see marked improvement to your battery life.
So is that the secret? "Data switch".
All it does is turn off data usage so your cappy is not using data for all the background services (synch and such). Its what I use when I want the battery to last and don't need a data connection.

Haha. Yea, he's showing that his battery meter is not accurate. Lol.
I lasted 3 days and 9 hours with my $10 extended battery. It was at 1% for a good 36 hours of it.
On my standard battery after 16 hours of "normal to light" use, I'm usually around 60%. As long as I don't have to charge it during the day, I'm happy. Plug it in every night when you go to bed and unplug it in the morning, you will last all day.

Other than the incorrect meter LucasMN, how much better is the extended battery in terms of single full charge. I am debating on getting an extended battery because I use my droid heavily throughout the day for work. I charge with the same habits as you. With my current standard battery I get to about 50% by 2pm (my day starts at 8:30a)

I cannot compare it to the standard battery as I've never let the standard get lower than 30%.
3 days and 9 hours on the extended battery included 2 full work days. I work in IT and will quickly check e-mails throughout the day on my phone. Out of the office I use it quite a bit for facebook and streaming music. 95% of use was over Wifi though.
I bought the battery + cover off ebay for $10. It's about 3x as thick as the original battery.
So I was a bit concerned about battery now seems to be pretty good strange how some days I get 5 hours to 20 percent now going on 7 at only 50 percent

The problem is probably your 'high capacity' battery, the max for our device is about 1700mAh, there is no way to fit more than that into a battery that fits into a i9000. SO your 2450mAh might actually be a 1500 or lower one. Also if your screen is that high, rom or kernel doesnt matter. Try lower brightness and less screentime.
Still, you need to post screen time along with rest of the stats if you want some kind of evaluation here. 3 hours screen time and 50% battery is real good on any smartphone.

well about ur screen draining battery____ on JB roms when i use screen on my SGS i too get same drain on every rom 60 to 65 percent drain from screen is normal i hope so
and about ur fast draining battery it MAY BE(m not sure) possible ur battery is not getting charged completely as it happens some times after flashing a new rom battery charges only upto 98 or 96 percent though while charging it shows battery charging complete 100 percent but it is not to solve this u can try switching off ur phone and then full charge then switch it on then again leave it charging for like 5 to 10 mins then again switch of it charge it for like 5 to 10 mins and then plug it off and see if it is really 100 percent charged:good:
Buy a power pack. It will solve your problems for sure. But remember to don't buy any fakes. Just original one. Never buy any not original batteries even when they have "2500mA". Original 1500 will be better for sure.

I've been fighting with the baterry drain and low battery performance through many months.
This was everytime with the lastest rom... So I decided to try a GB rom after knowing a guy here in my workplace that lended me a minute his SGS.
He had 18 hours of use and 80% battery left.
So I installed "Mesorom" and discovered thar I can have the screen ON 3 hours, and im discovering now how much time could it manage in standby.
I hope this gives you some advice about battery drain, looks like ICS and JB consume less power when on dual core, and on a single core it just drains too much battery. That is my opinion.
Has anyone got to this conclusion?
Please report your battery stats to compare! i'll do it in a moment.

42 minutes of screen on time. gaming, web browsing, and instant messaging.
4 hours is still nothing. Post again if you accomplish those 18 hours and the battery is on just 2% left
rom failed to be stable, i'm trying to install official cm7 now.
BTW i managed to get screen on time of 2 hours, and 15% left of battery. 11-12h total use.
i will report when i know something else.
I use Mackay Rom (4.1.2) combined with a 1800 mAh battery and my phone lasts 2 days (airplane mode at night) with medium usage. Screen time between 3 to 4 hours.
i use CM10 and my battery life isn't too horrible, compared to a dell streak and iphone 3g like 8-10 hours standby time 4-5 hours use
Maybe I've got a little old battery, because on GB or ICS or JB my battery behave similarly. Average I have to charge my phone every second night if I use it normally. Recently I used it a little less and today's result below - 30 min of calls, about 20 min of 3G connection, 2h screen on. I use JB (SlimBean 3.1 with Semaphore 2.6).
Lol cm10 battery is better. Because ui using gpu instead of too much cpu.

I actually bought an I9000 for my GF and loaded up the newest stock rom JW8.
Battery life wasn't too good, so I switched to CM10 stable. It's really good now.
3h screen time in 2 days, or 2h screen time in 3 days. That's enough for a small device like this. I don't think gb has better battery drain than cm10.
The case is a little different on my n7100, where I get around 7-8 hours screen time on stock 4.1.2 and only 5 hours on cm10.
Cm10 has great battery live

Yeah battery on CM10 seems to be pretty good. I get about two days usage out of my battery with Ondemand + Smooth UI.
CM10 has a very good battery life, its only a little bit worse than a stock rom.

I had my best battery live on gb. I've easily managed to charge every 2nd day. Now 1 day is a max. Especially data transfer in 3G mode is ducking battery as hell. Still prefer latest android to better battery and not coming back to gb.

for battery and stability we have to stick to GB ROM.......

I tried several ICS roms, but their stability and functionality did not compare well gingerbread roms.
