Has anyone tried out thus new launcher yet? It looks really cool but for 14.95 I dont think it's worth it. What for you all think?
Sent From My Evo Killer!
All the reviews so far have been that at 14.95 its DOA, it doesn't offer any features that other cheaper or free launchers don't.
Texted while driving
$15 for a launcher is outrageous. That thing better come with a PS3 emulator and God of War 3!
I had a cracked version of it...first impressions DO blow you away, the 3D home screens are fluid, smooth, colorfull, and there's PLENTY of them (more than 7, I believe...), they can be put in any order, be labeled, etc... There's no app drawer thou, all the apps have to be out there and you just cycle through them. The widgets included blow ALL the other launchers away (as someone who is TouchWiz biased and treasures the Program Monitor Widget that is an major statement...) In the beginning I was all-in and felt it MIGHT be worth at least 9.95 (but 15 is a bit much...), BUT after a week...it started crashing a lot (It takes up LOTS of internal memory, we're talking 115mb available for other stuff!) and I got fustrated and ditched it.
Bottom line, if it's been fixed and improved, it could be worth the money, but I wouldn't fork over 15 bucks for it yet...wait for a sale...
It's will definately change how you look at other launchers after you've had a taste.

Good info. I was actually thinking about throwing down the $$ to check it out but I'll wait now. 15$ is a bit steep unless it is getting rave reviews from everyone. Sticking with LP.
Version 1.0.1 works great in my x10. It does have a launcher now.
Just tried the cracked version after seeing this post. It's impressive, but i would never pay $15 for a launcher. If the price gets cut in half I'll be all over it.

Did you have to change any phone settings to get it to work? I also have a cracked version of it but when I select it from the launcher menu(from hitting the home button)it does nothing, it just goes blank and then boots into launcher pro instead.

A crack-fix was finally developed...I had the earlier version too which didn't work, but then a newer cracked version came out and it worked fine, as far as I know, I never had to change any of the phone settings when I had it on my phone.

So far I have to agree some of the widgets are better then others I have come across. However one major feature I find missing that was in all the reviews was the "Turn any app into a widget" Of course those reviews all had the produced labeled as Mobile Shell 5.

Currently after about 24 hours at 7.7mb and 58MB for SPB Shell memory usage.
Overall it to early to tell. However I have used SPB mobile shell for Windows Mobile for several years.

Hmmmm, Jus put on the latest cracked one, and it does have an app drawer NOW...the earlier releases didn't, this latest version is an improvement, but just like in the reviews mentioned, the restrictions on where apps can be put now is a headache, the other version, you could put apps anywhere due to no app drawer, I guess...Meh, imma play with this a lil while longer and see if its worth is...i'm sure the crack wont last, I've already seeing messages about market not verfying the purchase...
Update: After checking out the new version for an hour, I've had 3 FC's in which I had to pull the battery out. It might be accounted to ACS's New Frozen 1.1.0 ROM, which has been buggy in itself, but...if anyone has a stock rom, this might run a little better, or it might not...Still needs some work. I would wait, like I said for a sale, or more improvements...
Thanks for the insight on it. I've never ran it before. I would definitely like to try it but I don't want to dish 15 bucks if I don't like it. The return foe the market is only 15 mins. Maybe it will go on sale soon.

I'm liking it so far. It needs some polishing but I can't justify spending $15. $10 the most

I played with it, and it's pretty, but I still think the beautiful simplicity of LauncherPro still beats it out. The scrollable dock is what keeps me with LP.
And what is this...Apple? $15 for an app???
Tried it. If it was any cheaper I would buy it. Great eye candy better than any launcher any phone maker makes. Not for those who love simple interface.

I downloaded it and demoed it for 15 minutes before refundning.
I found it nearly useless. A couple of the thins that are included are not available anywhere else but they are almost so pointless that I can't image a point in using them.
App folders that take up half the screen over just launching the app browser? Yeah...no.
The 3D carousel view is cool but ultimately useless I don't see any reason to use it over swiping from one homescreen to the next.
Frankly if there was something like it for OPEN apps, it would be ****ing awesome and a must have.
This? I can't get pretty much the same effect from Go Launcher.

SPB Shell 3D
I just bought and installed the SPB Shell 3D Launcher app. Not bad! The 3D effects are awesome, and it has some great Widgets. It was a little expensive, but I just couldn't resist buying it. Has anyone else gotten this? what do you think about it?
Tried it and would have been upset if I would have paid 15 bucks for it...
It got old and boring after a while. It looks pretty but it doesn't offer the same instant functionality of the original homescreen or adw or launcherpro.

Hi,
Does anyone have experience with SPB shell 3D on the optimus 2x? It looks good, and I think I can see myself comfortable using it. However, it is (extremely) pricey, and unless it works really well on my device I will not even consider it. For half the price I would have bought it straight away...
I took the jump and bought it, but regret it now. It made the phone lag from time to time. I tried living with it for 1 week, but it needs more polish to be come lagfree.

@moment no lag for me
looks very good
If you compare it to stock, it is better in almost every given area. I have not experienced any real lag from it at all like above poster. If you like fancy stuff, this is definitely a great launcher. If you're more into the simplistic stuff, and you think you'll get tired of it after a while, don't buy it.
From my experience though, it is quite good. Making folders and all that is really useful. The way the home screens scroll is really good looking, it's running completely smooth for me (everything stock). There is one thing that can get annoying though, it seems very unresponsive when trying to move widgets/shortcuts on the homescreen. It can take multiple tries while holding down your finger on a shortcut for it to react. I'm not sure if this has been fixed yet, as I have been using stock android since yesterday (just installed MoDaCo custom vanilla ROM).
So as a buttom line, I'd say if you can live with the unresponsiveness while moving shortcuts/widgets (which I didn't mind at all after I had arranged everything in folders), then get it, it runs really smooth and looks great! If you think it will annoy you too much, don't buy it, wait until it is either fixed or it drops in price
Well it is spb, it is a resource hog, but the 2x should be able to run it smooth.
i tried it out a couple of days, and though it ran fine, i still think launcherpro is better.
but spb i prettier.
if you run a oc'ed kernel and custom rom, you shouldn't have any trouble with lag.
I've got it.
It uses no more resources than a browser...
It's very attractive, and spectacularly fast for what it does.
It's not functional enough, or configurable enough, for me to use as a daily launcher.
It's not worth $15 (yet). For that price I expect almost weekly significant updates, none yet.
So, I use LauncherPro (one screen) and from there I launch SPB and have multiple screens with full page widgets. So I get LauncherPro functionality (e.g. speed, resizeable widgets etc) but the 'glam' of SPB if I want it.
SPB takes a long time to load doing it this way but I only have to "load" it once then it's instant.
To be honest, I use it more to show off than to actually do anything with it. For me $15 has been well spent because my iPhone friends are simply astonished. It has the presentation quality of Apple and the power of Android...
But as I say, it's not a daily driver for me.
Do any of you guys find it can be nigh on impossible to actually drag and drop items from the launcher or around the homescreen at times? I found that it was very hit and miss on 1.03.
Pros:
It looks gorgeous
It's very, very smooth
The launcher looks brilliant
Lovely folders.
Cons:
Can't rearrange items on the homescreen freely (always fills from top down)
No "Friendstream" or other social network status aggregation.
Must admit, I pirated this app (requires root) for testing purposes. I've now removed as LP is better featured. Given time though, I can see SPB Shell 3D becoming a full time home screen.
Good replacement for me!
Hey There!
I use the SPB 3D shell for 2 weeks now!
I came from the ADW Ex launcher which is more configurable! But the SBP launcher is Way more smooth and stable for me!
Is a high price! But I think this product need some TTBP (time to be Perfect!)
(Like the time to startup, is way to long!! even on my overclocked Lg.. to 1300 Mhz!)
You dont have to spend years to configure youre homescreens, SPB has some nice screens inside!!
Enjoy!!!

I'll admit myself I've been considering pirating this app myself (temporarily) as 15 minutes is not nearly enough to test a launcher out. But you say you need root to pirate it? I do have root, but thought all you would need to do is find the .apk file on the net and install from a SD card? When you were testing it, were you overclocked?

You need to be able to run su terminal commands before it works. You'll have to look yourself for more info.
15 mins is nowhere near enough time for this app. You only just get passed the initial wow factor in that time... sneaky.
I was running a completely stock build aside from root access. 10b.
Waist of money looks nice but that's all about it..
Resource hog a very large memory foot print.
LP has more functionality and far less memory footprint...

Installed on my Nexus One when I was running CM7 RC4.
I've always liked to backup with Titanium, wipe all data, and flash the next update. I know I don't need to, but it's my way of weeding out the un-necessary apps
Well, it ran totally fine on RC4, and I didn't regret my pricey purchase at all! I had it configured just as I wanted it to.
But on the latest CM7, it just force closes.
I will definately re-install in a few weeks, after they fix some things. I just may re-install it after I get my LG G2X
I have been using spb Shell 3D for over two weeks now. I like it a lot. You are right when you say it takes a couple of tries to arrange things by pressing on the screen.
I have received one update in the last two weeks. What I can critisize is that their widget quantity could have been more than it is. Other than that its fast, smooth and it looks good....or as good as you make out of it.

Aye. If you get Extended Controls, you can add blank invisible widgets to your home screen. Makes it possible to have items at the bottom of the screen.
ITT v1.0.4 removes the drag and drop bug.

they won't do anything because of the custom rom (easy hiding behind it ) but it also is slow on stock rom... don't download for that price
Reboot problem
I bought the last version but with this when I try to reboot with the power key the phone stucks on Lg logo and I have to pull out the battery to make it able to open normally. This problem does not appear without the SpbShell.
I've been using spb shell since it came out - first on my moto defy, now on lg 2x and I've never had any problems with it. It's not updated too often, but some improvements have been made, which makes it a perfect launcher for me. On both phones it was on stock rom.
Of course it could have more widgets, but there's a lot of stuff on the market.
I tried other launchers (Go, LP, ADW, Regina, 7), but none of them is as stable and fancy as spb shell.
Hi all.
I like the fickr widget from spb shell but i dont like the launcher. Is there any way to get the widget and put it on another launcher?
Tnx.
You guys should try out Go Launcher Ex, it is fully free and comes along with some nice free themes and Widgets, I feel it is better polished compared to LP,TW and SPB.
Only drawback is that each themes are downloaded and installed separately from the launcher and you will see lots of Go Launcher based application in your installed list if applications.
is there a free working version of this? Thanks.
There is if you look around but honestly its not that good..
Try Regina 3D Launcher. I've seen/heard 50-50 reviews on it being comparible to Mobile Shell 3D and it's free.

Launcher Pro is a good launcher, ADW Ex is popular as well. You just need to browse around and find the best replacement launcher for you.
Define "better keyboard". What makes a keyboard better to you? I like Swype. I've also heard good things about SwiftKey is good as well - but the cost is $2.
I don't think spb is a great launcher anyway. It has nice looking features but they don't work too good. The weather looks nice but is always way off. It uses old forecasts to tell current weather. And it doesn't seem to know Washington dc exists.

I tried Spd Mobile shell and noticed alot of battery drain guessing from all the widgets it's packed with. It was cool visually but wasn't for me.. i'll stick with my launcher pro but for something free Regina is pretty cool too it has that itunes cover flow feel.
I used a previous version of SPB Mobile Shell on Windows Mobile 6.1, it was a great app for the limited UI in Windows Mobile. It is certainly not a must have for Android, with so many good / great launchers including good old Sense, Launcher Pro, ADW and GO Launcher (among others). I have used all of these and the differences you have to try. A cute UI that I tried recently was Spark .. free but not for me, cool views though.
*SIGH*
Anyone here actually USE SPB Shell 3D? No, there's not a free version and no it's not cheap. But it DOES take 4x4 widgets to a whole new level. It takes a while to boot up when my phone starts up but once its up it's been running fine. With the new BAMF GB lockscreen and SPB Shell my phone is just SICK! I've tried to go back, but I've gotten used to its deliciousness (and it DOES wow everyone I've showed it to) and with each upgrade it gets better.
There's a reason that OVER 9000! people have given it good ratings on the Market....

Yup I think I'd give it a good rating too if I were foolish enough to spend $15.00 on a home replacement that slows the phone down and doesn't really do anything special that can't be had cheaper elsewhere. You know, just to make myself feel better.
(edit)Yes I have tried it before you ask.
There's always a free version of everything, if you're willing to look for two minutes.
That being said, I didn't find it useful enough to buy, especially for 15 dollars. Rather donate it to the BAMF guys. Battery drain, and the novelty wore off quick.
Favorite keyboards:
Swiftkey
FlexT9 (swype, but better)
If you don't want to buy a keyboard, the gingerbread keyboard is pretty darn good.
Thanks for such insight!

So you spent 15 dollars and yet didn't succumb to the "feel better"? Wow, the force is strong within you!
Because I haven't complained about SPB in a review and followed up with another review saying it wasn't ready for prime time (at the time). You're so right. Gosh, you must be like Miss Chleo or something.
No added functionality? I guess it depends on the user. I've found:
1. The carousel isn't like anything out there. The free alternative doesn't have the same functionality/ease of use. I find it especially handy for easy access to widget screens that are 8 screens back. I don't have to cycle through them.
2. Beautiful 4x4 custom widgets. I've not had the problems with the weather widget. It's especially handy when looking for the 5 day outlook quickly. And the calendar widget is fantastic too. It's pretty and functional.
3. Ability to add screens on the fly (up to 16)
SPB Shell lags on boot/first use, but I've had no slowing of my phone in daily use after boot. The problems I experienced before were problems that have been fixed since my second follow up review.
And have I mentioned it's absolutely beautiful?
But you're right and those 9000 fools (and Google, who showed off SPB Shell in their booth last year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona) are just sore. Couldn't be the oohs and ahhhs I got from people looking at my phone. It couldn't be both the increased functionality and aesthetic beauty of the custom widgets. It's all because they're upset they spent so much on it. Thanks on your comment. It's changed my life and I am now in perfect agreement with you.

I've had absolutely zero battery improvement when I've used Launcherpro or stock over SPB. But you can't upgrade apkwarez, can you?
Everything is relative. I like things that are functional and pretty. SPB is both. And just a quick note, donating to the BAMF guys isn't against the rules if you buy SPB...you can do both.
I think SPB is neck and neck with Sense. They're both great looking, fast, and functional. If my phone didn't have sense I would use SPB all the time.
As for keyboards, I was able to get FlexT9 when it was free from Amazon and its awesome.
I bought SPB and I have mixed feelings about it. Yes it's great and it's fast... when it's loaded. I don't use a task killer but it seems that often when I unlock my phone, it needs to reload part of the launcher and that adds a delay that I don't like.
I'm also not impressed at the development. They did add one new 3D widget for birthdays but it never works well for me, it's always missing some people and the people I see change every time I reboot.
It has a lot of potential, I just hope that the devs won't take the money they have now and leave the launcher stagnant.
I have been running SPB Shell 3D for several days, I have no lag, no battery drain (not any worse than running on just Sense, and better than GB rom) I have it fully configured with my own weather app etc. I really find this app to be pretty cool, it works and I have not had crashes or anything else yet with it.

Don't take it so personal, I happen to think that spending 15 on spb is foolish, my opinion should really not have garnered such a response from you, you didn't develop the program right. But you are a hell of a defender I'll give you that.
To clarify, I'm sure this was the best thing since sliced bread on winmo but as was stated above there are many many options for launchers on android. I have spent >$15.00 on the different launchers out there, does that make me a fool, probably because I was happy with the first one I purchased. But you know I don't feel too bad in this case because I think the people who got my money deserve it. Anyways I'm done, sorry if I upset you.
I might be mistaken but i remember reading there was a free alternative to SPB Shell that had many similar features. Can't remember the name, though.

Shame - looked like it could have been a winner (even if a bit of a resource and battery hog)
It looks alright but is confusing, not intuitive and left me feeling like my mind had been turned inside out.
I did. I like it so far. Exceptionally smooth. Music, weather widgets work as shown in the video. The memo widget is a joy to use, works exceptionally well with our S-Pen. just click on it and write away. Why don't you try it for yourself? 15 minutes is good enough to test it out. For me it's usually the feel of things. I either like it or I don't, right after the first touch. Also, the only way to change between homescreens is the orb at the bottom-left corner. Frustrating at first, but since it's so smooth and accurate, it feels natural after a while.
Pure eye-candy. I do feel the price is quite high.
Does it upset you that I don't like it? LOL
15 minutes was too long for me. I know what I don't like. But I'm pleased for you that you like it.

Personally, I dislike the mechanism to get to the app drawer, but I can live with it. Also, there are four homescreens, and that's about it. No settings menu either. You can change transition animation of the app drawer, though. There's a themes menu as well, but there are no themes online currently (doubtful, could be a connection error). Live wallpapers don't seem to apply too. You can select and configure them, but they won't apply. I think I'll have to watch the video again, it seems some of the app arrangement functionality is missing, or I can't get to it. I'll update with results.
Hated it, plus the price is outragous! Good thing I didn't miss the refune window

Would never pay that amount for a launcher when there are so many good cheap our even free available. It would have to make me breakfast to even consider it.

Tried it and i'm going to be honest: A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!
For everyone that wants a true launcher: GO LAUNCHER!
Using it now, its very complicated and confusing, but smooth, fast and pretty
Lacks too much options, and it's overpriced ...
Damn expensive little launcher !!
My god... I just checked on the market and my first impression towards the price was " RIP OFF ! " ... The price tag of $15.49 was just bit too much...

+1000000000000000000000000000000000 that !!
yesterday i tried it and i'm still getting used of it. by the way, after a day using it, i can say:
it's the fastest launcher i ever tried and it's perfect for the note.
graphical effect are very good and fluid, never had a lag.
it's widgets are wonderful (for me) and free
but don't forget that:
it has an interface different from any other launcher
it is possible to change pages only with the button down on the left of the screen
it is really expensive
do you have to buy it, in my opinion?
if you want to try something new and different, this is the launcher for you. the only thing i don't like is that the operation to change screens with one hand could be difficult, because the note's screen is very big.
P.S: i don't want to invite anyone buying the launcher, i'm only telling you my opinion, so, maybe, you can decide better what to do
I have to disagree with most of you here, the only thing I agreed is the price, come on $17 for a launcher? I personally don't care but $17 can't get the population of this launcher to nowhere. I think they should reconsider the price down to something like $7 or $8.
besides that. me thinks this launcher kick a$$. Yes, it's not completed YET but it's already the most intuitive, fluid(in terms of animation and work flow) launcher I've ever used.
some features are missing here and there but it's a beta, I am sure they will be there in some time and after few more months of tweaking, updating , more themes and plugins. This could be the BEST launcher out there. I totally see the potential out of this launcher.
I am not persuading anyone to get this launcher as the price is semi retarded and the supposed features are missing for most of the user's expectation.
But I do advice you guys keep an eye on this launcher for upcoming updates, hope TSF will complete the whole thing very soon and set the price right too. Then I am sure some of you will change your mind.

Echoes my thoughts since it was released. One to watch.
After using it for about a week, I feel ripped off. Other than a couple of fancy animations I can't see how this launcher is any better than any other launcher. Nothing at all special about it. Perhaps I am missing something but I doubt it. Like chameleon launcher overpriced and under featured launcher.
Hi,
I've had some really bad experience with the HTC One and Android overall in the last few years.
Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S, then going through the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, and now HTC One, I've got one thing that really annoys me. The stutter/lag in every single third party apps. I tried doing many things, like enabling 'force gpu rendering', and changing roms, but I could never get rid of that 'lag'. Many people don't see it as a problem, but it is really annoying for me as an iPhone user, where my 4S is extremely fluid and stutter free compared to the One. Now, some people have told me that going from an iPhone to Android will mean that things like this will be apparent for me instantly, and they will annoy me. But I can't believe that this is the case with all Android phones, I mean after all they all cost just as much as iPhone does, so they should work just as well?
I really like android as an operating system, iOS is too closed. So I'd rather not go back to the iPhone for that, but the lag and bad animations bother me so much that I am actually considering returning the One.
So my question is - is there anything I can do to get rid of the stutter/lag ?

Yes Android Does have bug and lag but its getting a lot better compare to 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 4.0 4.1 4.2 each update has improved whole OS bit better, but still needs more time to mature but same time İOS or Windows Phone is very limited so i assume more thing to do means more codes and more codes mean more fault. İ have HTC One and İphone 5 but HTC One feels faster than İphone 5 in my eyes but another fact is Android needs more power so maybe next chipsets like S800 or Tegra 4 may make transaction more smoother. Android is not best idea on budget smartphone cos as i said needs more power.
There are a lot of rumours that Android Key Lime Pime will be more smoother and less power hungry need to wait and see but enjoy whole experience of android its free and open its getting better every day
sorry for bad spell etc
As a past user of an iPhone 4s and current user of a HTC one, lag is way more prevalent in the 4s.Examples 1.Open the app store. 2. Switch between apps a couple times. 3. Swipe to the search screen. The one never lags for me. Ever. I'm a pretty intensive user with lots of apps running at once. Not to mention the speed at which the one works compared to the iPhone. It still has awesome animations but does them faster. Seriously you must have some rogue app going crazy in the background or something.

I have the same feeling.
I've owned over 10 android devices and an iPhone 4 and 5, and when I'm on an iPhone I hate that I'm not able to do anything... and while when I'm on an Android phone I LOATHE the constant stutter/lag/inconcistancy.
You can't have your cake and eat it too... I guess.
EDIT: To answer your quesion: no, you can't.
EDIT2: just thought of WebOS, smooth, whith it's modding repositories *starts wheeping*

You need to give some examples of apps, situations which lag or stutter for me Android is pretty fluid (with the exeption of chrome)

hold an iPhone and an android phone side by side, the difference will be noticeble to everyone.
I think the OP is referring to apps that haven't yet been optimized for the 1920x1080 screen of the One and the S4. Animations such as those in Words with Friends look jerky in comparison with the iOS counterpart. It may be something you'll need to learn to live with. With Android phones of all different sizes out there, you're never going to get 100% app compatibility.

Like I said I can' t see any stutter or lag, not in the default apps or sense at least
Well that is what my iFriends say - it stutters!!!!1 How can you not see that???? And yes, sometimes I do see it, and it is annoying.
Some of us are more sensitive, some don't even notice. Most of the time I think it is because of loading content while scrolling. If you open a web page, or any internet dependent app, it will pull new content when you scroll to the end, an then inevitably some time is spent on arranging layout, loading jpegs and so on. iOS does it in advance, and is even making some kind of thumbnails all over system to smooth that out.
Could be wrong, but that is my conclusion so far.

like I said you need to give some specific examples of lag or stutter because I can't see it, not in sense nor in the stock apps. I can see lag and stutter for example in chrome (and new opera) but stock (and opera classic) are smooth, app drawer buttery smooth, settings buttery smooth, whatsapp smooth, blinkfeed smooth
Well I don't know now, really. Trying to forget about it, but name of this thread reminded me again
As I said - internet apps, not in system. Facebook, Engadget, Instagram, Cracked app... almost all third party web apps, not really important ones. It is app design flaw of some kind, you cant see that in system or system apps which are better made. On the bright side, this effect was horrible on LG O2x, which could just confirm my theory - One can load and arrange on-the-fly required data quicker.
It's not hard to understand that this effect is really not what anyone who bought the best Android device at the moment wants to see, no matter who's fault it is. Maybe that is the price we pay for system openness, and if that is the case - not a problem at all.

oh I don' t use any of those apps, mostly the stock ones and google apps and these are all buttery smooth (with the exception of chrome and sometime the play store).
I think these laggy apps all use webkit to draw their UI, webkit will lag the UI when loading, even on a powerful desktop. One of the chrome devs congrateluted opera, when the switched to webkit how fluid they had made opera when presto was still loading, something which they hadn't figured out to do yet
what version of android do you have? i noticed stuttering in third party apps on 4.1.2, but was fixed in 4.2.2
i use tubemate, and it was unusable on 4.1.2, now it works perfectly

I'm currently on stock 4.1.2 from HTC, the European version for the HTC_001. I've also tried the Android Revolution HD 4.2.2, but the problem still persisted. It was better, but still not 'buttery smooth'.
As to when it happens - Sense is largely ok, when swiping through the screens you can't really see any lag. Unless going between the app launcher and the blinkfeed.
But it's mostly other apps, such as even the stock web browser, thet just stutter and lag when on some simple webpages, such as google, full amazon website, my banks, lloyds tsb, and pretty much every single web page is just slow and stutters when scrolling. Not to mention XDA-Developers, because this website is just on another level of stutter. lol
I've tried firefox, chrome, stock browser, and all of them have the same problem.
There are also apps, facebook, even the keyboard lags!
Now, I don't know about you, but I think it's the resolution that causes the problem. I'd rather have lower resolution with say, 300 ppi, which is not really noticeably worse than that of the One, and at the same time have an OS that does not suffer from these problems.
Because in all honesty, the ONE is actually more stuttery than SGS 1 was.. Now, that just can't be right!
I'm still hoping that somebody will come up with something that can fix it.
Because I'm really sensitive about this stuff myself, and love the idea of android at the same time. Not to mention the hardware of ONE.
But when using the phone, it immediately feels cheap and badly made when simple things like that occur on a phone costing as much as a 15 year old car!
So I think it'll be back to the iPhone for now. My contract on it ends in a year, so let's hope Google does some magic with Android, and maybe forces manufacturers to release properly optimized software. But I fear that's just wishful thinking.

You have an interesting way of exaggerating prices. I bought mine from Hong Kong, so maybe mine cost as much as a 14 year old car. Or perhaps a 15 year old car in good condition? Or maybe just within the range of usual Flagship phone prices?
If you're getting stuttering with certain apps, don't use them. Poorly made apps usually have alternatives.
So far, the only big app I'm getting stuttering with is the Chrome/Chrome Beta app. It would be nice if it wasn't there but, thanks to features like data compression saving me roughly 50% on data use, I can look past it. I also get it with the facebook app, but that is such a **** app.
There are probably some other apps I get it with but, to be completely honest, lag and stuttering hasn't been noticeable in my daily use. This phone is fast as hell... Faster even than a 15 year old car. What a deal!

haha!
What I was trying to say, that these phones cost extremely high amounts of money, and yet don't work properly.
I mean, having used Lumia 520 a few weeks ago for a few days, I can safely say that I would recommend that over the One, simply on the 'niceness of use'. And that phone costs £100 in the UK.. One costs over £450 at the cheapest.
As to the apps - I get that, but if you read my post, you'd know that I mentioned all of the popular apps, I try to stay away from the lesser known developers, as they tend not to do so much testing on their apps, and thus providing a terrible experience most of the time (not so much on iOS, as Apple does a lot of testing before they put the app up on the market, something that would be nice to have on android too).

some sites lag in some browsers some sites in all, some sites even lag on my powerful core i5 laptop running windows 8, sometimes it' s bug in the browser, sometimes a bug in the website. I'll bet you you will come across laggy sites on the iphone too. XDA is buttery smooth for me though (at least the forum, which I always watch in compact view and I hated the contextual search so I disabled that in forum preferences)
Honestly I've used android from the start back when the g1 was released. Going from that to the g2 now the HTC one. Even on my g2 on some Roms I barley had lag issues now on the one I don't see any stutter or lag or slow downs.. But I guess that's just me.

I guess we can both be happy that are devices aren't as bad as the OP
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I don't think it's a problem with my particular device though.
I've watched many reviews online, and the very same things that happened on my device were happening on those being reviewed.
Things like:
When browsing google images, you open one image and then swipe to look at the next one, htc one starts to render an animation and then 1/4th of the way just stutters to the picture. On the iPhone it's just a nice, fluid animation.
Another, the original keyboard is rather bad, you press a key, and the pop up with letter comes on, you depress the key and the preview is still there for at least half a second.
Also, a more general one - when you install something from the play store and try to browse for another app on it at the same time - it stutters beyond belief.
And sense one - where are the animations when closing an app/window? I feel like using windows Vista on a 2005 pc with 1gb ram..
It's very small things, but they do not happen on the iPhone, and I just feel like the experience is more pleasurable and consistent on iOS. Not to mention WP, which is even faster than iOS in my opinion.
The iPhone and WP may not be faster hardware wise, or performance wise even, but the animation, and transitions between doing things are just incredibly badly implemented on Android.
I'd rather see it being done like on the iPhone - when the phone is installing or doing something in the background, that action stops when you try and use the phone. That way, it may perform worse, and install the app slower, but the experience is really good, and no stutter occurs. Whereas android sort of tries to do everything at the same time.
But again, that may be just me being very bothered about things like this, most people don't see it as a problem, but it annoys the hell out of me, hence this thread. I was hoping that there is some tweak for the One that makes the experience more pleasurable whilst maybe decreasing the performance a little.
