lately my gnote info is.
build number: GINGERBREAD.XXKA
andriod version:2.3.6
KERNEL version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKA-CL726566
Now i update to custom firmware " kingdroid Elegance Note v4.0.2"
result is build number have change but kernel number is same 2.6.35.7..
which firmware have a 2.6.35.14..?
first of all: read FAQs and use the search function. You are asking questions which can easily be answered by reading a few threads.
right now you are updating your rom, which also updates your kernel. you dont need to do that. just take a few minutes google time and search for a note kernel based on .14
dunno if abyss v4.0 is based on it.

You are right - Franco kernel moved back to 2.6.35.7 for #6;
#5 is 2.6.35.14 though - but since the kernel developer moved back to .7 it must not have been working the way he wanted it to...
AbyssNote v4.0 does use .14 - Read up here:

bro
have last question...
once i flash or update a custom kernel of gnote,,, this is forever...
or have a chance to go back to previous stock kernel..2.6.35.7-XXKKA
Of course you can go back. Same way as you applied a root kernel. You just need the original Samsung kernel files.

hi,
i have stock Galaxy s i9000 with 2.3.4 XXJVP.. i want to install Semaphore kernel... hoping it will improve overall performance and give even better performance with games like asphalt 6,,..
all i want to know is that can flash it over my stock with SGS kernel flasher??? or are there any other pre requirements for it???
or is there any better kernel for playing games lag free??
THX
Ny reply??? :-(
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
You can install this Kernel via Odin easily, and YES it will improve your overall performance
Ps.:Flash Gingerbread 2.3.6 its really good
Remember to disable lagfix.
The best kernels for playing games on gingerbread roms are the Semaphore Bigmem kernels. But if you really want lag-free and super smooth gaming, you should consider using froyo 2.2.1 roms.
Oh, and to answer your question, yes you can flash the kernel using the kernel flasher app, but it's probably safer to use Odin.
Thx fr the replies...
I would want to know which version of semaphore to download..??? Thrre are two versions.. 2.1 & a bm version ...

How do you do this?
you should download the RIGHT kernel, if you have JVP download the kernel for JVP ,not the kernel for JVZ.
for gaming and performance TalonDEV kernel is the best
Semaphore kernels link
Hey can someone give me the link to semaphore jvt 1.9.2 kernel?
TIA

If you dont know, you probably dont have to. My guess is you have never used lagfix or ext4. if you think you might have, go to cwm recovery - shut down phone, hit the 3 button combo (power + home + volume up) until samsung galaxy boot screen appears and leave the buttons immediately. in the recovery mode, go to advanced and see if theres any option for Lagfix or Ext4.
Can i flash latest semaphore JVZ on stock rooted 2.3.4 XXJVP?? It wont brick right?? or i need to have a jbz rom???

No you should not do that. Use a kernal that is meant for your firmaware. If you want to flash semaphore 2.1.1, first upgrade your firware to JVZ using Odin. The are plenty of links to this firware under General.
This could be a silly question
As per the SamMobile.com the JVZ released on November 2011

Hey sorry have been away. Well you should be able to flash a kernel but there arent many out there and i am a little wary of flashing a kernel as they are all in a very experimental stage. Moreover, i find teamhacksung's (pawitp's) build to be more stable and the aries kernel was a whole lot more better. hated glitch the moment i flashed it.
Happy flashing...
Hello all,
I am really sorry to start thread like this i am new to this, but i serched before and could not find any answer. So starting thread.
I have curretly Anidroid Rom and kernal from Anidroid which i got from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1761190
Now I really liked the performance of this rom, but it dont have s-pen feature, also the inbuilt apps, like dev devloper and other are really no use for me. So i would like to go for stock rom again as samsung is providing ICS 4.0.4 update to another countries.
But for the same performance like this rom, I would like to know can i use this ANIDROID KERNAL 3.0.36 with stock ICS? Also After doing this, will performance reamin same like now?
Also how to do it, I assume i should flash the stock rom, by flashing abyss kernal 1st. and in last i should flash Anidroid kernal, is this right?
One more thing i would like to know, that i am from India So there is no stock update available, then can i use update which is provided for another countries? and which will you recommend as Open Germany, Singapore (SingTel), Singapore or Malaysia?
Or i should wait for update for India?
My current details of mobile.

In theory it's possible... there are no reasons for the principal differences in the Kernel sources between Stock and CM brunches.. It's Linux with Android part of code and Samsung drivers.. but it needs testing for the issues prevents AniDroid and many other CM Source-based kernels working correctly on Stcok ROMs..

Theory is sometimes far from reality. I have yet to see a "universal" kernel for N7000 that can do what the OP wants.

Hmm. A lot of threads to read in the development section for you there are. Answers you will find.
-
But as I am kind:
I think the best beginner roms with great benefit are darkys roms. But since u have to flash cm9 to flash darkys v11 black, you can also stay with cm9.
I think the stable 9.1 is a good choice with either semaphore 1.3.0 kernel or devils 1.0.3 kernel.
Cm10 is still too unstable for me, but I am sure there are other opinions.

In CM, you are flashing kernels, modems, mods - via CMW (flash zip from sdcard).
I think ICS - based roms don't need any memory tweaks.

CM9.1's stock kernel works well.
IMHO If you're not looking for specific tweaks, you don't need to flash a different kernel.
what's about memory(storage)?
do i need to install anything to expand it?

Storage is physical memory. You have to buy a external microSD card or delete apps to get more.
If you are talking about ram: there are tweaks in the kernels mentioned above.

Hi guys,
I'm running on CyanogenMod 9.1.
Which kernel i can use to overclock CPU? Is siyah kernel compatible with CM9??
Please help.
Greetings,
I'm currently running Jelly Bean Rocket Rom V1 on my GT-N7000 and I want to flash XXLS7 on it.
Now my problem is with the kernel, now looking on the kernel version in my device, it shows me this:

Which as far as I'm concerned is the kernel that comes with the ROM.
What I want to know is this:
In the instructions on how to install the ROM it says that I need to make sure that I have a "safe brick free kernel" installed.
Is that kernel safe and brick free?
And how do I know what kernels are compatible with the particular android version I'm running on my phone and if they are safe to flash new roms with them?
Thanks in advance.

yes this being edited kernel by Philz is safe to flash and wipe from.
there is a thread with all the custom kernels, in there you can look for the compatible kernels for the ROM youre running.
Yes the kernel is safe, flash the ROM you want and enjoy

Hi
Just got my N7000 back from service; With just about all the hardware except the screen were replaced, it also returned running the stock ROM (Android 4.1.2, kernel version 3.0.31-1103517, build JZ054K.N7000XXLT5). While the stock Jelly Bean is miles ahead of both the original Gingerbread ROM and the stock ICS ROM, I'd rather root and go back to the CyanogenMod nightlies...
Thing is, between all the "Super Brick" and "eMMC" bugs - I'm a bit scared and terribly confused with witch technique I should use to root and ROM my phone. It sure would be nice if someone could point me to a tried and tested method (preferably a step by step guide) to root and ROM my N7000XXLT5...
Root using Philz kernel. Then you can flash the rom of you choice. For instructions, head over to his thread in the original android development section.

Thanks nokiamodeln91!
I assume you're referring to [PhilZ-cwm6][n7000]. I've looked at this earlier. I've settled on and are comfortable flashing it using the stock recovery method, and the step by step guide (in post #3 of the PhilZ-cwm6 thread) should make this manageable enough...
The problem however is that I'm unsure as to which package/version to download. I've looked at the "What kernel to choose section" in post #2 of the PhilZ-cwm6 thread, but from that information I cannot figure out which kernel matches/is suitable for my device...
As I said, I'm terribly confused by all this...

Thanks again! I've downloaded "PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT5-OXX-5.03.0-signed.zip" and are ready to root/rom my phone!
I guess it freaks me out not knowing/understanding everything. Especially about something as fundamental as the bootloader/OS of my phone. It's a weird feeling reading info like "DDLSC - DXLSE - JPLSB - XXLT5 - ZSLO2" without understanding most it. Also kind of freaks me out that I'm not supposed to use the latest version of a piece of software....
Though, I've had it with the stock rom again and are ready to take my chances! So again; Thank you!
@nokiamodeln91; Just wanted to say thank you!
Rooting with "Philz kernel" is quite possibly the easiest root I've performed. Once I were sure which version/variant to download is nothing to worry about.
So now I'm back to being a happy N7000 user running CyanogenMOD! Only difference being that I'm back to nightlies...
Again; Thanks!

Use odin to flash the kernel. If you intend to root your rom, after flashing the kernel you will need to flash supersu from recovery.
