I got my first speeding ticket today, it was 62 mph in a 40 mph. Not to bad in my opinion haha. What's some of y'alls worst speeding tickets?

94.25mph on a motorway (speed limit is 70 for cars), turned out my car had much better brakes than the Police Volvo and they nearly went up the back of me when I pulled over.
Got a £60 fine and 3 points which expired some years ago.
86mph on a motorway. I received a letter stating I hadn't responded to the Notice of Intended Prosecution (the letter stating your car was spotted speeding and asking who was driving so they can prosecute them).
I replied stating I hadn't received my NIP, so they sent me one, to which I replied it's past the 14 day period so I didn't have to fill it out.
They basically said "We don't care, we're the Police, we're above the law" So I quoted them the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Offences act, namely that they have 14 days to send the NIP, it doesn't have to arrive, the registered/recorded post used to send it is proof that the NIP has been served.
I requested the tracking number to prove when it was posted. They couldn't provide this because they don't use registered/recorded post, it costs too much, so they just use 1st class (or it may have been 2nd class) post.
I however did pay for recorded delivery with my letters to them, so when they passed the case onto court claiming I hadn't responded, I filled out the paperwork showing that I had responded and they had received it, also they had no proof the NIP had been sent in time.
The case was thrown out of court and both the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) and justices’ clerk both apologised for wasting my time.
I'd had to travel half way up the country to be at court so stayed in a motel the night before, and I could have claimed expenses including for the fuel used.

last time i saw a motorcycle speeding in the main road. he zoomed by and then a good 5 seconds later i hear what sounded like an electric motor but was in fact a motorcycle cop LOL
The crotch rocket got away quick!! LOL
As usual, we'll need some fun facts:
- The fastest speeding ticket in the world allegedly occurred in May 2003 in Texas. It was supposedly 242 mph (389 km/h) in a 75 mph (121 km/h) zone. The car was a Swedish-built Koenigsegg CC8S, which was involved in the San Francisco to Miami Gumball 3000 Rally.
- The fastest convicted speeder in the UK was Daniel Nicks, convicted of 175 mph (282 km/h) on a Honda Fireblade motorcycle in 2000. He received six weeks in jail and was banned from driving for two years. The fastest UK speeder in a car was Timothy Brady, caught driving a 3.6-litre Porsche 911 Turbo at 172 mph (277 km/h) on the A420 in Oxfordshire in January 2007 and jailed for 10 weeks and banned from driving for 3 years
- The most expensive speeding ticket ever given is believed to be the one given to Jussi Salonoja in Helsinki, Finland, in 2003. Salonoja, the 27-year-old heir to a company in the meat-industry, was fined 170,000 euros for driving 80 km/h in a 40 km/h zone. The uncommonly large fine was due to Finnish speeding tickets being relative to the offender's last known income. Salonoja's speeding ticket was not the first ticket given in Finland reaching six figures
- There are many competing claims as to the first speeding ticket ever issued depending whether the claim goes by the first traffic violation or the first paper ticket ever issued. Great Britain may have the earliest claim with the first person to be convicted of speeding, Walter Arnold of East Peckham, Kent, who on 28 January 1896 was fined for speeding at 8 mph (13 km/h) in a 2 mph (3.2 km/h) zone. He was fined 1 shilling plus costs
The fastest I've gone is 115 mph idk what that is in kmph

140mph. Chasing someone who threw a cup of soda at my car just because I signaled and got in front of them. I was merging into the highway. I don't understand why people think they own the road.. Anyway.. I chased and couldn't get the driver to stop. Girl friend was in the car with me and screaming for me to stop...I think I probably at that moment I would have pushed the car to the limit it can handle...

What are some good softwares I can use to watch TV with? I found Sling and looking up another called "Orb". I have no experience with either. Can someone educate me if you have experience?
Are there more out there that I have not ran across?
Thanks in advance!
orb is excellent, check it out ! (but make sure you are on an unlimited dataplan, and you have 3g in your area.
I do have an unlimited dataplan but I dont have 3g (not in area yet)?
Will 3g make any difference?

a huge difference mate, GPRS is around 50 Kbps ( a tiny grainy postage stamp for a pic and mono sound)
3G starts at 384 Kbps and maxes out a 1200 Kbps on the athena and means full screen decent quality pics and stereo sound !!
PS since upgrading to Ap 4.0 I am having a problem with this, it works but the video (windows media video) is very stop start, where as on AP 2.0 I got fluid full motion video in TCPMP
Makes since. Well I can only wait until Tmobile get 3G hopefully soon! I have been struggling with TCPMP and Windows Media since the upgrade to AP4.

if you dont mind my asking, where are you ? here in the uk Tmob have fairly good 3g coverage
I'm in Minnesota over in the US. I have read talks about Tmo getting 3G but I called yesterday after i read your post and they said they have plans to launch it this year. But he didnt know when.
i also read that in other states they already have it up. A little confused if that was accurate information or not!
Thanks for asking!
Makes me want to move to the UK!
trust me, you dont wish you live here, the only reason we have 3G coverage is that in comparison to the US, it is cheap to set up here, as the country is so small and densely populated, did you know that London is only around 30 miles across but home to around 7 million people, This pressure on land makes housing cost stupid amounts here.
plus we pay around $9.85 for a US Gallon (3.79 litres) of diesel
OMG I cant believe that many people live in such a small area. That make since about the inexpensiveness of 3G.
Wow...we complaining about 3.99 per gallon here. I cant believe gas is that much. I'm certain we will be there in 12 months, in less we find away to do something.
What would an average 1 bedroom cost in London? It cant be a crazy amount is it?
Well maybe I will come visit first!!!!

Try it here in CT for 4.40 per gallon of regular gas, and that's the cheapest.
...
If CT is paying 4.40 per gallon. Then it is around the corner before MN get over 4.10.
I wonder who is paying the most in the US? Clearly we arent where London is or are we?

in a really bad area, around $250,000 ~$300,000 and at the other end of the scale the sky is the limit, roughly $1,000,000 or more.
see for yourself, this is an example of one of the best area's in london, 99.9% of the normal people that live in london can't afford this, but renting a 1/2 bedroom flat will set you back around $20,000 per month
http://www.belgraviaestateagents.com/
the normal price for renting a 1/2 bedroom flat is $1000 ~$2000 per month, I pay $1400 for mine. but I live just outside london.
but at least mobile phone calls are cheap, the cheapest being 1100 anytime any network minutes or texts for $40 per month
I learn something everyday!!
I never knew it cost this much to live in London. Following your link, some of the flats were going for 3,500. I dont know what that would cost in dollars!!!
When i clicked on "buying" I saw some houses stating 'Leasehold 63 years' or 'Leasehold 193 years'. Excuse my ignorance...but what does that mean?
I'm also curious about the general demographics of who occupies these sky is the limit areas or the really bad areas? Are there families? College students? Single business owners? Political statesmen? Who live in these areas in London?
LOL £3500, is the per WEEK rental value and at current exchange rates, it is 2 dollars to the pound, so that is $7000 per week or $28,000 per 4 week month.
However apart from feb we don't have any 4 week months, so to get the true monthly value they multiply the weekly figure by 52 (weeks in the year) and then divide by 12 which is $30,333 per month.
Im not 100% on the following as I rent, but as far as I know, When you buy a House in the UK you are litteraly buying the house only, IE the bricks and mortar ! with regards to the actual land the house is sitting on, you are leasing it, houses normally come with a 99 or 999 year lease bundled in with the cost of the house (measured from when the lease was last renewed not when you purchased the house) , if you buy a house and the lease expires, you dont have to move out (infact you are protected from being forced out by law) however you do have to start paying the lease holder rent, (even though you fully purchased your property several decades before) obviously this is not a desireable situation, and if there are only a few years left on the lease, it will have a serious negative effect on the value of the house !
And with regards to who lives where, people just buy what they can afford ! you have famillies with 2 kids or more living in 1 bed flats in really bad areas and the uber rich businessman/woman using the multi million dollar house or flat in central london as a boarding home, just somewhere to stay by him/herself during his/her week in work before heading back out to the countryside to spend the weekend with the family.
The average wage in the uk is around £28,000 ($56,000) people in london are supposed to get more to absorb the higher cost of living but a lot don't even earn the average, to buy a home in the UK, the banks have just gone back to the good old days stipulating you can only borrow 3 times your wages (if your by yourself) , which means nobody on average wage in london, can buy any properties FULL stop (unless they have a mammoth deposit). you have to be earning around £45,000 ($90,000) and have the usual 10% deposit if you want a shot at purchasing a £150,000 ($300,000) 1/2 bedroom flat.
My goodness, the cost is crazy. The average or medium is clearly not in support of home buyers, (sounds exactly like here) but was is the home buying market look like there? Meaning....are people buying? Is the market ripe for it in conjuction to people's ability? What about you down the line....do you who hope to buy a home there in London for your family or maybe stay on the countryside?
Are there other places that use a different formula to calculate rent?
If rent cost that much, even for a flat, what is the homeless situation in London? Have the banks ever financed buyers, single or not, where they gave more then three times the yearly salary? Are there other programs that will support buyers outside the bank? gov., corp, etc.
Sorry for having a lot of questions.....this is just interesting to me! Besides, I'm trying to observe more or less the parellels between the states and your hometown.
Thanks ice_coffee

On top of that whenever you buy a house you pay stamp duty (a form of tax) for the house purchase, due to the high prices the govermet eliminated stamp duty for houses below £120.000 ($240 thau) wich is ridiculous due that the average U.K house price approaches £200 thau, then you got council tax (average £130 per month)...I stop ranting about the staggering number of taxes but I really would like to know how Spain France or Germany manage to have first class National health, public transport and council services (compared with those here) and the fourth rich country in the world does not manage.
In the other hand
Unemployed people can apply for housing benefit and income support (the rent paid and a meager amount of money every 2 weeks to help them keep going) single mums and people without income can apply for coucil houses and pay nil
NHS is free as in beer
Buses are free for children and the eldery....there are more benefits, and yes there are homeless some people abuse the system and the system is a mess but just say that in other parts of the world the needy gets nothing.
London is a sprawl rather than a concentration ( more LA than Newyork) Given the chance people will live in garden houses rather than flats, in flats will live however cannot afford a house or profesionals that can aford the £500000+ Luxury pad with river views plus the home at the country and profesionals that use a small flat during work days to avoid long conmmuting, an hour conmuting to work is the norm.
just an anecdote, an american couple both layers and her daugter came on holidays and wanted to see Nothing Hill, they liked the area as charming but after enquiring the price of one house the guy commented, "my god a million pounds for a place that fit inside of my garage"
Welcome to London
and now I better get back on topic
The housing market here has just come out of a massive boom period, where they were giving everybody mortgages, and I really mean everybody, they copied the US companies by giving out N.I.N.J.A mortgages to people with N.o I.ncome N.o J.ob or A.ssets or giving people 6 times their salary with no deposit, this pushed the house prices up, as supply could not meet demand. Now that this boom is over and house prices are falling, there are lots of peeps with mortgages they can't afford, having their houses repossessed. The banks are stuck with repossessed homes that they have to sell for less than they paid for them, which is why ALL the banks have gone cautious again, back to the old days of 3 times your mortgage and deposit upfront !
My fiancé and I are saving a 10% deposit at the moment, we are at £15,000 ($30,000) but we need to get to £30,000 ($60,000) so we can buy a house, we will probably stay where we are, I work nights all over London on the underground rail network, so traffic is not a problem for me, plus it is really nice where I live.
There are homeless people in London, but there are also volunteer organisations to look after them, plus the government will give free accommodation to those who apply for it as mentioned by PBL1! although it would be really crappy accomm and in a bad area and if your a single man you will be waiting years as pregnant teenage girls (thrown out by their parents) get to jump the queue!
There are some part buy schemes where you buy a percentage of a property and another organisation buys the rest and you pay them rent for their portion (this equates to a lower monthly outgoing but adds years to how long it will take for you to own outright !
also if you are a KEY worker (Medic, Police, fire etc etc) the government will put you in discount nice accommodation, any new build housing complexes have a percentage of the homes/flats dedicated to key workers only with heavy discounts.
Feel free to ask questions, that is what forums are for !

I think the UK minimum wage is £5.93, ($9.71), which is far too low to have any quality of life here. The average yearly wage is around £22,000. A lot of people earn ~£1000.00 a month where the cost of mortgage repayments could be that much alone. (Without Council Tax and Bills).

Hey folks,
The internet-deprived and poor population of the isolated island of St Helena in the South Atlantic (a British overseas territory) have a unique opportunity to finally get their 10 MBit/s satellite link (shared by 4,000 people) replace by one of the fastest submarine optic fibre cables, the South Atlantic Express.
Allthough the UK government recently approved the construction of an airport for nearly £ 250 million in order to establish high-spending tourism on the island and so make the island self-sustaining there is no commitment to get this cable to the island.
But how should they get tourists on the island if they even can't upload a simple YouTube video? How should hotels confirm bookings or answer calls when internet access and international telephone service frequently fails due to sun outages? How should you explain high-spending tourists that they can't call home or get their emails?
Without a working telecommuncation infrastructure the investment in an airport for nearly £ 250 million is odd.
Since without proper internet access St Helenians can't get their voice heard on the web I thought I should ask you for your solidarity with these isolated people. They will only get broadband if the global online community solidarizes with them.
So I would kindly ask you to visit our website at http://www.connectsthelena.org/ and to support our initiative that has been started yesterday! This is a unique chance. It is highly unlikely another submarine cable to come anywhere near the island for the next decades.
Thanks for your attention!

Now if in my neighborhood I can get internet faster than 10MB/s? I'm not trying to make some people feel bad, but that is slow for a city like NYC, and overall in the US the internet is slow, where in London lets say, half the city has 10 GBps internet.

It's around 1.25 MB/s, so average DSL speeds you get here in the City
Indeed 4,000 people share 10 MBit/s, which converts into 2,5 KBit/s per capita (of course they won't all use the internet simultaneously, but anyway it's extremly slow with internatioanl data rates usually being in the two digit kbit/s range).
Furthermore an ADSL-subscription with 3GB of traffic included and 384 KBit/s downstream bandwidth costs £120/month (US$ 185/€140).
And even this expensive and slow service is frequently interrupted by sun outages caused by solar flares, for which the involved satellite (Intelsat 707) seems to be very prone due to its age - it was launched in 1996 with a predicted lifespan of 11 years, so by now it has exceeded its lifetime already by 5 years.
/Rant
I generally avoid Wal-Mart like The Plague. I know that I can always expect to see disgruntled employees who generally give two craps less about me than I do about them. I also know that I will find 50 registers and only 6 of them open at any given time. I also know that the other patrons of the store are going to be more embarrassing to me as a member of this species than to themselves.
Knowing all of this in advance, I decided that I could avoid the interactions and have a simple in-and-out experience by purchasing my item online and simply picking it up at the store. I made sure to purchase it at noon today so that when I finished working, I could just swing by, pick up my stuff and leave. Six hours is plenty of time to fill a single item order.
I received a confirmation e-mail saying my item was ready for pickup at four o'clock. I finished up work around five thirty and headed over there. I got to the store and went to customer service at about five forty-five. I stood in line waiting for someone, anyone, to show up to man the CS counter. After waiting for ten more minutes and having two other associates page for help, I began to think that this was not going to be the simple journey I had imagined.
A CS rep finally showed up and "helped" the two people in front of me. She then picked up the phone that had been ringing since before I was in the line and proceeded to have a long conversation with someone who didn't seem to want to make a trip to the store to process a refund. I imagine she wanted Wal-Mart to mail her the cash, but that's just me.
Finally she turned her attention my way and told me that I was in the wrong department. I had to go to the back of the store to pick up my order. Fine. Whatever. I just want my stuff, so I can leave.
I went all the way to the back of the store to the pick up counter, which, of course, was not manned. I wandered around and found someone who kindly paged someone to help me. I sat and waited for ten minutes before getting up and finding someone else. This happened twice more before a manager finally showed up and told me that the pick up counter was closed. I showed him my e-mail confirmation which expressly said I had until ten o'clock that evening to pick up my crap. I also informed him that I had already been waiting 45 minutes for someone to help me.
As it turns out, the girl who was supposed to be at the counter was simply on her break. She finally got around to helping me, and said that the order had not yet been picked. I asked her why they sent me an e-mail saying it was ready. She wasn't sure, but vowed to find out. I sighed at that and asked if I could just go grab it off of the shelf myself. Electronics was thirty feet from where I was standing. She said that if I pulled it off of the shelf myself, I would have to purchase it separately. What the F*** ever.
She consulted with some other girl who showed up to join the discussion. I paced to show my frustration. It was now approaching seven o'clock. They disappeared into the warehouse to find my item as though it were some magical artifact on some RPG quest.
At seven twenty-five in the evening - one hour and forty minutes after I showed up at the store - the girls reemerged and produced the item I ordered. I waited for them to finish logging it out of the system, grabbed it, and left without any further words to them.
Total time from parking to leaving - 1 hour, fifty minutes.
Abridged version
I bought something on Walmart.com to pick up at the store. They sent me an e-mail saying it was ready. I went to pick it up, but it wasn't ready. I waited while several incompetent employees tried to sort out the mess. It took almost two hours to park, get my stuff, and leave.

For those unfamiliar:
Walmart is a national chain supermarket. They are famous for having everything you need from birth to death, but no employees competent enough to help you make a purchase.
Once I went to walmart and then I walked back out...the end!
Also Walmart is notorious for having unmanned departments...I hardly ever shop there.

I've been to Walmart once, in Mississauga, That's in Ontario...Canada...I live in New York. Yep, no wall marts here in the city. And I only went into that walmart to buy a redbull.
I work across the street from one and had my usual split shift, being bored as $hit I took it upon myself to sit infront of the store and record the amount of overweight customers visiting the store. I sat there for an hour and a half drinking malt whisky out of a travel mug counting the scum of the neighbourhood. There were hundreds of ticks on my notepad in that time and I believe the end result was the majority of the patrons were between the ages of 40 and 55 and of them 80% were what I would call overweight. I even made a graph to hang up in my locker to remind myself what I would become if I fell for everyday low prices on high fat foods. Of all the age groups I counted 78% were overweight and out of the hundreds of people I saw there was only one 10/10 and she was walking out of the store with a large amount of toilet paper. :|

Most of the customers I saw in the store tonight were drunk as well.

I've learned to pay for everything at the cs desk.
I like Walmart got everything i need in one spot, plus there prices are fair. Poor customer service at times but i figure stuff out on my own anyways. I got my phone new and two weeks early before release date for 99 dollars with upgrade. Tmobile store wanted 299. sooooo until Tmobile site match those prices Walmart well be my go too source.

I must be super lucky. The WalMart in my town always has manned stations, accepts returns within a month no matter the condition, but employees have no idea about anything in the store except where it is, yet they're nice people HEB is even awesomer, so many free samples. You don't even have to buy anything, and you could've consumed a meal, and I know so many people that work there ^_^ Sadly, besides my small part of town, Walmart, HEB, the movies, the square, the lake beach and some other places are considered the centers of the town and people say it's boring :/ I'm content with all of that o: I think that's alot!
PS, I only order online with Amazon.

Had three small items at checkout, and wanted separate bags, because one was a food product, one was a cleaning product, and one was a toiletry product that leaks sometimes.
"Oh, I'm not allowed to give you 3 separate bags"
If I hadn't paid with a credit card (she could have looked up who I was after I left) I would have called over a manager and made a big stink about her being rude.
Wally World really has gone ghetto big time.

You could get your phones new on Amazon for $50 with a contract upgrade. Most of them are $0.01 for new plans.

Wow. That's not only rude, but also unhealthy. You can't combine those items in a bag. My first job was at a Winn-Dixie when I was 15. That was back when you could still get a job at 15, so I guess I'm showing my age a bit here...
We weren't allowed to put different items in the same bag like that. It didn't matter if it took one bag per item. You just can't put ammonia with bread.... idiots....
never experienced any problems.... maybe because ive never been to wal-mart
Not to offend anyone, but I worked at Walmart off and on, usually during the holidays for extra cash. Walmart is all about political correctness and empowering women in management positions, and well, you all see the end result of that business model. A lot of their policies and way of doing things is very counter productive in a business. Ask any employee to best explain how Walmart operates, to sum it up in one word.....clusterfuck.
Making fun of ppl in walmart is fun.

I hate planes. Being 6'2" might be the reason.
I took a 9 hour trip by train to Niagara Falls, and I enjoyed it. I had internet on it, though very slow, and had A LOT of leg room. ANd it was cheaper than a plane.
Longest trip about 18 hrs, ~7,500 miles. 1 stop and wasn't able to get off plane for that stop. Long day!
I was traveling last week. I was flying home from Malta, so i "had to" fly to Rome, missed my next flight to Oslo, so i had to buy a new ticket, almost lost that flight too. Got to Oslo, had to wait for two hours there and then it was off to Bergen.
Total time = Around 12 hours (it could have taken 4 )
I love flying, and it's fun with free wifi 10000 feet up in the air, but i hate Airports. After this trip, i've added Rome's airport on my blacklist of airports to avoid in the future. It was the worst thing i've ever experienced. Stay away.
Speaking of Airports, the Dublin airport is awesome. It's like a Guinness Wonderland, with bartenders wondering why you are drinking a few pints of guinness at 5 in the morning.

Many a time I've been sat at the bar in an airport at 6am, waiting for it to open so I can start my week-long drink binge that involves a flight, a week somewhere hot and nasty, and then a return flight. It's pretty much drinks ahoy the whole time! I might add that last time I did that we were at the bar till 6:30 when our plane left at about 6:45. How dare the captain interrupt our pints!
I do love flying, but I agree with LM. Airports are a pain. Anyone been to the airport in Bodrum, Turkey? It was nice enough when we landed but it was like the most packed out oven in the world when we had a 3 hour wait for our plane on the way back. I was out of cash too so couldn't simply drink my way through it!
I actually like airports. I like how everything works there. They did loose my baggage at Heathrow though, which ended up going to France and getting to me 1.5 months later, and I was leaving Poland in 2 more weeks.
Also the Dusseldorf airport is nice and clean, a lot of walking though.
And I wanted to drink on the plane, but they had those tiny cans of heineken for $10, of which I only bought two, and on the airport I still don't know how much I paid but I gave the guy $10, and he gave me back €1 lol. On my way back, I somehow paid with USD that I was left with €15 which was enough for some awesome toast and 2 more pints of Guinness. the last pint I just took the glass, and went to chill at my gate waiting for the plane, and everyone was looking weird at me. I think it was 7 in the morning.

lol yeah, you do get some funny looks knocking a few back when it's not even double figures o'clock.
I like airports when they're fully open, and especially if they're air conditioned when in a hot country. My problem is we always go for cheap "lads" holidays and the flights before about 7pm are always the cheapest. We get to the airport typically about 3am and there's nothing open except a coffee shop that doesn't sell anything other than coffee, tea and yesterday's leftovers. Now that I don't like.
Bummer about your luggage at Heathrow. I've thankfully never had that happen yet. Hope it never does!

Well my stuff was lost because my flight from JFK was late 3 hours because of heavy rain and a fuel spill. lol. I had to wait in a line for 2 hours to book a room in a hotel. They put me in Renaissance, with free food vouchers, so I could eat as much as I want, but stupid me didn't know that the airline would pay for the minibar as well. lol.

Lol, well I did get to the hotel at 21:00 and my flight to Warsaw was at 7:30...and I went to sleep at 1 without drinking. They had some really comfortable beds though. I think it's like a 3 or 4 star hotel. lol
