Thinking I will claim my LG Thrill as lost/stolen, pay the deductible for a new LG Thrill and donate my current LG Thrill to a well known developer that doesn't have the phone so you can root this darn thing and build us some roms!! Any takers??

I have to have this phone for 2 years and i want custom roms darnit! I came from a HD2 which had me flashing something different at least twice a week, i was a flashaholic. I'm literally feanin to mod my phone.

Check out this thread... this is the best ROM I've found so far. CM7 nightlies are fast and smooth but they are buggy...

You should post this in the general general forum might get more ppl interested
Putting a CM7 Rom on the LG Thrill is pretty much pointless since you lose all the 3D capabilities of the phone which were the selling point of this device.

That's exactly why I went to Biohazard Kitchen ROM... it works GREAT. I've had 0 reboots, no ghost calls, everything seems to work perfectly.

Why is the ROM development taking forever for this phone? I am just an Android enthusiast and have the utmost respect for the devs, but I am contemplating returning this phone for lack of support.

I guarantee that when the gingerbread or icecream sandwich update comes out development will pick up. What we really need right now is a way to get our radio compatible with optimus 3d roms. There's a lot of development for that phone which is identical except for the fact it doesn't support all the same basebands. Its roms work for the Thrill except no 4g and no mms. They have a cyanogenmod project going too.
EDIT: maybe getting some bounties going would help...

Anybody know where to find the CPU frequency tables in the kernel source?
I'm working on a kernel and can't for the life of me find the actual frequency tables.

They have a few things going for it. I love the phone but this is my first Android device.

I'm not disappointed due to lack of support, as it's a new phone without a lot of hype. I'm REALLY disappointed with the quality control LG is putting out there. I really wanted to like the Optimus 2X/G2X, but they had awful QC. I figured they'd fix it for the 3D, but sure enough, mine is going right back to Amazon for an exchange. 5 hours of battery while idle and a touch screen that's all over the place doesn't instill confidence, nor does the constant rebooting. Everything about this phone screams "PLACEHOLDER!", and it's a shame because it's a solid phone that FEELS great.
Hey dudes i am planning to exchange my hd7 with mango custom rom(2 month old phone) with an lg optimus 2x (1 month old) by paying some extra bucks of about 80 dollars( 4000 indian rupees ). Do i should do that? the reason is purely hardware and the plentiful apps availability for android. Though i love hd7, i need some more freedom, which windows never allowed me.
Please post your opinion.

We wont get ICS! This phone is great other than the lack of support from LGs technical department! Phone works very well on a custom rom!

If you like custom ROMs, get it. If you don't, stay away.

Rusty is 100% correct, with a custom ROM the O2X is superb.

So well dudes, i like custom rom, my wildfire runs on cm7 latest nightly. But what about installing it? Is it hard, i mean crackikng boot loader/ security etc? And what about cm7 on 2x, is it nice or gives hell of problems?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
It's as easy to install as it is on the Blade, pretty much everything is functional bar FM radio.
Well i am yet to flash my Rom but the stock sucks..and have heard the custom Rom are good and with custom kernels like neoblaze u can overclock ur device as well.... dunno how hd7 is..never used it..

i was at a store today and i was able to use the samsung galaxy nexus for quite a while.. i was thinking of getting it next month but i was quite disappointed after playin with it.. my optmus 2x is much faster on ics! the only thing i loved about it was its screen... it was like.. whoa!! the perfect screen.. but even its launcher was too laggy :/ scrolling from apps to widgets screen made the phone look sooo slow.. what is your opinion on it?? should i get one of these or better avoid them?

Go fr it...nexus series has a great dev support..
2X devs are also good, but they are few in no.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
My opinion is: do not judge the phone by how it behaves on the stock rom
hmmm i guess you are both right.. but isnt it strange that it is so crap out of the box?? if someone isnt in the modding trick he will be crying for the (lots of) money he gave for it.. and its the latest google official phone which should be flying while all the rest phones are walking..

I have yet to update my Thrill to GB yet .. only because over heard inconsistent reviews about it. Basically I'm trying to see anyone's opinion on the new GB update for the Thrill if they have done it. What have improved? Changed? IS IT WORTH IT?

Do it and install the acidhazard rom. Really good!

I will check it out. I don't think my flashing skill are up to par yet. I figured out how to root and over clock, ad free, clear cache, and improve over all functioning of my phone, but o haven't tried flashlight it yet. I'm going to have to do some research and see how to do it. Do u have any website on ROMs and flaying them to that I can learn fro?

It made a world of difference to me. I sold my thrill months ago because the battery life and overall lack of dev support. The day I heard the GB update was out, and it improved battery life, I started looking for another one. Now I've got another one and couldn't be happier.

I for one had a love/hate relationship with my Thrill. Loved it at first....hated waiting for the updates....but over all the phone has been GREAT! I rooted, but kept the stock ROM. Just froze some bloatware. Recently updated to ICS...LOVE IT! I would like to root again to get Tethering and to re-freeze apps, but so the solutions I am finding are too convoluted for me. I want something as simple as it was to root with GB using Megatron Exploit.
My contract is up in a month. I am definitely considering the Optimus G. Not a fan of the S3 form factor. Feels like a toy and don't like the rounded edges.
I love my Thrill but LG and ATT seriously upset me when it comes to updating. And the tools necessary to to modify this phone are ridiculous. Not so bad now that I have tinkered with things, but it look a long time to figure it all out. This phone would be junk if it were not for the few brilliant developers we have that took the time to work around LG's crap. I will probably never buy an LG phone again. I want something with over the air updates and I want to purchase it from a company that actually concentrates on the phones that are already out. Don't even get me started on things like cases and invisishields which you can't even find anymore at places like Best Buy, etc.

Never never never!!!!
I will never ever get another lg phone. The device itself is not bad, the issue is the service from lg themselves. Its nonexistent worst support ever. Im def going to another company when my 2 years is up.
I don't think I would probably go with a samsung s3 or s4 maybe a nexus. I would like to have an sd card though so the nexus probably wont happen. I dont even know what phones lg have out so I do like this phone though plus for a 100 buck and no data plan can't really beat it.
I've never seen such a laggy device. It's bizarre.

They really had no say so in what happened with ICS.
Part of it was AT&T's wrong doing by cutting the contract with LG for a while. They had to renew it before any decision to release another firmware/software was developed.
