[Q] Avast root install, flashed ROM, Stuck in Fastboot - Motorola Droid Bionic

Ok so I installed Avast in root mode (i know, stupid.) I went to flash up to 902 and kept getting failures. Now I'm stuck in fastboot mode, RSD fails recovery flashing boot.img. I think this is where Avast locked the boot loader. Is there anything that can be done?

I got stock back
Ok I have stock back. Now when I go to OTA 901 the update fails. I assume that this is because Avast has the boot image locked. I'm re-rooting and trying to install Avast again and then remove it. I'll update with any progress.

The bootloader is locked to begin with. Avast didn't do that.

Ok
So why does my OTA update fail?

You may be missing a system file that is needed for the ota to install. Look up path saver and run that. I have a post about a week or so linking to the original path saver post since it wasn't in the bionic section. You may also be able to use motofail but I've never used that so I can't confirm. I had to use path saver to install the update.

If you have any of the bloat froze or uninstalled, the update won't install.

[Q] Bootstrap Question and Issues

Let me try to explain my situation...
I was on 5.5.893 with root and Bootstrap recovery installed. Rom manager was also installed later and used that to flasha newer CW recovery. Everything was working. I could make backups of my rom when needed (stock ROM).
Then the .902 OTA came out and I could not flash it. At some point I had modified the framework_res.apk so no OTA would flash.
So.. I used RSDLite to flash everything back to stock 5.5.893. Then rooted. Then installed bootstrap (the free one.. not from the market, but from koush's site). The pressed reboot recovery. I was stuck at the Motorola logo... bootlooping! yay..
So.. since I didnt want to mess with troubleshooting it too much, I used RSDLite again to install 5.5.893. Then rooted/forever root again. Then flashed the official OTA that I saved off my phone through stock recovery.
I'm now on the official .902 with root.Back on the upgrade path!
My question is... what do I need to do to get CW recovery back on this thing? I really don't want to have to FXZ this thing again. Also.. when I use RSDLite to flash the phone, does that completely remove any trace of bootstrap or any custom recovery? Or is that part of the phone left alone during a flash? Does that even make sense?
Ultimately, I want to get safestrap installed so I can try out the ICS roms out there since they have everything working now!
Nobody? I know I went into some detail that I probably didnt have to, but I thought the question was simple enough.
Download safe strap apk it is in my guide the link since your rooted already open app select install or whatever once your done reboot etc... its all in my guide just do everything past the motofail root method....

[Q] Droid 3 XT860 won't boot to recovery (stock rooted)

Hello everyone!
Iv recently acquired a new milestone 3, and after gettint out of the box only did the one click root service to root it up, and installed bootstrap / rom manger and so on. But when I power off the phone holding X I get into a ! triangle screen, which I cant even power down the phone via button.
Also booting with M, or both vol buttons I can get into a list of options, but recovery, bt tools or any other wont get into the recovery mode.
is there any other way? clockwork mod is already installed says the app, and the normal boot goes ok.
Iv downloaded from another post the CM7 which I wanna install, but impossible without the recovery mode.
any help appreciated, all Iv found in the forums was how to get into recovery, but none worked for me.
... never mind
If you are using cwm, make sure you are using the DROID 3 bootstrapper. There is no way to enter recovery without it.
Imo, you should use safestrap (the official version) . It's way better. Because the only way to get to recovery when you have cwm is the bootstrap app, if you bootloop your phone, the only solution is an sbf. Safestrap retains access to the custom recovery.
EDIT: I saw you installed the bootstrap. To get to recovery, open the app and click the reboot recovery option, then reboot your phone.

both options: bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery goes to normal boot into the OS.
since its a payd up app, already sent email to the devs so I can help troubleshoot whats going up on my device, but got no answer.
Odd. Make sure you hit bootstrap recovery, wait for it to say success, then hit reboot recovery.

I've had that.problem before with the bootstrap before. I could not get it to work no matter what. Rerooted, made sure I had su, busybox etc. Sbf'd and did it all again. Just use safestrap, it works. Just uninstall your bootstrap first

This is the modded version. Its supposed to be able to flash both safe and non safe modes but it doesn't. You can only flash in safe mode. But it does have a console included which can be handy. Its still cwm but redesigned ui. Note that if a rom isn't specifically meant for the xt860 you will need a patch for it. So far only eclipse 3.0 and mavrom 4.0 have xt860 version. I'll also find you the sbf for you. Always handy to have

Choose the one for your carrier. If you are running windows you'll need rsdlite to use it. Just unzip the sbf somewhere on your comp and point rsdlite to the xml file in the unzipped folder. Make sure your battery is charged before doing this. And before flashing anything too. Just in case.

flash to 902 from 905

Hi all, I'm new with bionic as my previous phone was Photon. I tried to flash to ICS leak on my bionic, I'm on 905 OTA rooted. In my experience i tried to flash Eclips 3.0 but always had no data access.(grey triangle blinking) but I can received call and SMS only.
Do I have to return to 902 and then OTA to 905 again or just unroot my bionic (Voodoo keeper) and then flash the ICS leak 6.7.232.
Sorry if the question already been re post and for my bad English .
If you were able to flash Eclipse 3.0, then you must have installed either Bootstrap or Safestrap, neither of which can be used to install the ics leak. It must be done in stock recovery. If you have either of those installed you will have to remove them.
Ok, thanks, so i will erase boot or safestrap from my phone an will enter cwm recovery manually. But if i fail or stuck in the bootloop can i just directly restore from my backup.

Unfortunately you probably need to have either bootstrap or safestrap installed to restore from a backup, depending on which you used to make it.

Oh that's right. I'm experienced bootlop when i m flashing eclips 3.0 and some how when i reebooted several times it came through on eclips with that grey triangle problem. One more question, which zip do you recommend to used for return to 902. There is 902 with 666 mb and 902 custom with 456 mb zip file.
Thanks

Same error no matter what

I recently bought a bionic cheap cause of a broken screen, when I got it would only boot into fastboot. Installed the screen and have been at it for 2 days trying to revive this bionic. Only 246 will flash with hob or rsd, and both fail to install radio.. phone does boot up, but won't read SIM and reboots every 5 min or so.. any help would.be great... Thanks.. this is what I get in the factory recovery..

Try putting this file on the sdcard and running it from the stock recovery by manually booting into recovery and selecting Install update from external storage.
This is the radio update from the full XML.zip that is contained in the radio.img. It is the same file that has failed already on your device, but the error seems to indicate a problem with the file in the /tmp directory where it is placed by default. Running it manually from the sdcard may solve that issue.
Right now you have a corrupt baseband and that's why it's rebooting. Hopefully, this will flash successfully and restore the phone.
Thanks bud, still didn't work thou. Got the moto flash fail again.. I'm completely lost now...lol.. anybody want a bionic cheap...lol

Installing OTA update with TWRP recovery?

I've been getting the "System update downloaded" card popping up over the past day on my Live, but I can't install it. It needs to reboot to recovery and install it, but I have TWRP installed, so it just goes to the recovery main menu and does nothing.
Is there any way to install updates with the way my watch is currently, or do I have to flash stock recovery, update, then reflash TWRP?
Did you get it to work?
I flash stock wear recovery, then installed update. Went into recovery and started to install then it stopped and gave me the android with the triangle.
Downloading update from android police, i will try to adb sideloade update.

No, the exact same thing happens to me, and I get "Status 7" error and the same screen you got.
I used Tomsgt utility to lock bootloader and stock recovery.went to settings, system updates. Started to download update. After it downloaded flashed update. All is good. I'm on 5.0.1
Good luck! Let me know if this works for you.

I had to flash the stock KMV78Y located here before I could update (that's what the status 7 was about).
All good now.
