Should i downgrade BB725 to BB218 ?? - LG Optimus 2x

Me on Temasek' build 66 have BB725 - was on V20E earlier- i noticed many people say abt better battery life on BB218 - so should i downgrade ???
Sent from my LG Optimus 2X using XDA App

That depends, do you have bad signal or call quality? Because BB218 might not give you good signal or call quality. Not all BBs work the same on every phone.
What you could do, and perhaps you've done it already is to improve your signal by installing a matching RIL with the GetRIL app. This will also improve battery life a bit.

Yeah, I have used getril and it shows matching on V10b and shows recommended on v20E-- should I install V20e coz I was on firmware v20e earlier ???

i never downgrade to BB218. always use BB725 Asia(froyo) + RIL and it's good call quality

CM7/MIUI are written based on BB218.
With BB725 I had signal loosing problems.
Since I reverted back to BB218 no problems anymore.

I'm German (using Vodafone).
I tested the same because of the suggestion of several forum users, but I had problems with loosing signal the whole time. After several hours I had to re-enter my PIN and this was really annoying. 2-3 times a day! Going back to 20L (now 20q) BB with 20L Europe RIL, everything is working and battery history shows 0% signal loss.

I flashed the 0218 basband, because from what I've heard it is supposed to give you the best battery life.
And it really does for me! I get 2 days with modarate use ( Texting, calls, Music, a little bit of gaming, a little internet browsing).
And I don't have any problems with signal loss or poor quality.

Funny question. From Germany? More precisely maybe from Bremen? It was only a tip.
After I downgrade to 218 my signal lost problem is gone. Earlyer I used many 725 Baseband with froyo 725 RIL.

Man- I'm totally confused now...can someone give me both links for 218 and 725(if i wanted to revert) ??

[Q] LG Optimus 2X a safe choice ?

Hello Everybody
I got an offer for LG Optimus in ebay for a good price.
The offer was well worth when comparing to it's specification.
But, i was searching about the mobile phone in internet to find out any major problems.
And i came across following issues.
Would lose network connectivity frequently for no apparent reasons
constant "Force Closure" messages.
Unstable Gingerbread update process.
On-screen keyboard frozen up occasionally
I heard that if we use LG Updater software, then there is no issues in upgrading to Gingerbread.
And i heard that Gingerbread update completely fixes the phone lockup and reboot problems, is it true ?
There is no GB update out yet....
Most of problems on this device are baseband related, and after 3 baseband update, its still not that good...
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
It's safe if you're willing to mould it into what you want.
If you want to use it as LG provide it, it's not so good.
Root. And flash a stable rom. Then its verry safe.
The downside is that when u drop it, the screen cracks really fast. The + side is that it is not that difficult to replace the gorilla glass by yourself. There is a nice vid of it on youtube.

Android Gingerbread update has been released for T-Mobile G2X http://www.phonearena.com/news/Gingerbread-update-for-the-T-Mobile-G2x-goes-live_id20543
Isn't T-Mobile G2X and LG Optimus 2X same ?
They're the same in North America, but not the rest of the world.
So, if i buy LG P999, Then is that T-Mobile version?
If so, if i install Gingerbread firmware in T-Mobile version of LG Optimus 2X, then would the major problems be rectified?
P999 is the T-Mobile G2X or the Wind Optimus 2X, the update should indeed help with some things, check out the G2X forum for info.
Had the Optimus 2x by one month and i tell you that i am very satisfied of him. I have a stock room with all the latest updates and i don't have problems of reset or keyboard. IF you don't use it much you can get more then 2 days of battery.
In Europe the T-mobile G2x is not the same with the lg optimus 2x. You probably broke your phone if you update it with the firmware of G2x

im now running FR19 fearkill edition 12.4 with the neoblaze OC kernel.. (smooth as butter)
the DJ droid seems to be a stable rom aswell
(the good thing about this phone is that there are plenty of roms to choose from,
i recommend the fearkill roms. eventually i always got back to them. (never hade anny trouble with them)
Does these Roms preserve LG customizations?
fearkill deleted a couple of them but u can add them. there is a link in his topic where u can download all the lg software and add them to the rom
Golden question - did GB on the G2X fix most issues?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
Go ask in the G2X forum?
I think its a good choice, even on stock rom i had no problems butnon CM and Miui i did abit of baseband swapping to find the bestbin for them and everything is fine upgrading basebands has given me better signal..ect

Baseband issues :
- calls quality are really bad (for me)
- lags appears when you install apps : the device becomes totally unusable (im wondering if there is a rom that fix this issue)
- wifi error durring connection establisment/ hspa drops connectivity with NO reason.
- Audio playback may lag quite randomly (probably due to stock rom)
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
The app install lag is gone in CM, and possibly MoDaCo ROMs.

No "3g" or "h" on status bar.

Hello everyone,
I have a little problem with the mobile network signal. The gsm signal works nice (I can make calls and txt), but I can't use my mobile network provider for internet. I'm using cyanogenmod 7.2 and to be more specific the latest kang from Temasek (53). I changed the RIL many times and still the same result. I also checked again and again the APN settings for my mobile network and still nothing.
It worked only with Lg's stock rom ,version v20m. I checked the baseband also and it is the same in both roms.
Any ideas of what's wrong?
Many thanks in advance.

Mate,
Temasek's Kang is BB218 and not the one u have mentioned...that might be reason for your disconnection. The BB is not the same in both the ROMs.
Check his first post in his Kang thread...
Hope you understood this.

First of all, thank you for answering.
In the first post it says that the ROM comes with 218 RIL. I changed the RIL with GetRIL to many versions (compatible ones). The baseband it comes with it is 1035.21_20110725, which is the same in the LG stock rom (v20m). Basically the problem was not only in Temasek's kangs, but also with every version of Cyanogenmod. The weird thing is that it works when I put a sim card from a different carrier. So I got confused a lot of what's wrong.
Have you had a look at your APN list in the settings/wireless/mobile network menu? Considering it works with different sims. Just a suggestion from a random noob. ;-)

I found what's wrong. The problem is the type of sim card that I have. The chip on it is smaller than the other ones(actually I think those are the kind that you can cut and make it into a micro sim). Probably they're not compatible with cm7 roms.

I always thought it was the same as microsim, only more plastic around it. Good to know.

[Q] Stock ROM 2.3.6 VS Cyanogenmod 7.2 RC3 ???

I've had some good and bad experience with some roms, right now i have 2.3.6 ddq8 rom, it's good .. has some pros and cons ... has anyone tried both,, 7.2 rc3 cyanogen and 2.3.6 ??? which is better....??
need to work properly:
- battery
- speed
- camera
- gps
Last KTM Spain Stock rom is better than DQ8 and has lockscreen bugs fixed.
Battery is (from what i've tested) better
Speed ... better
GPS ... good, like DQ8
thnx will try that one...

Tried them both, still prefer cm7.
I don't care that much about battery life, and the customization is insane. Daily use Apocalypse rom, very stable if you don't overclock it.
You can't really compare them, as they are to different things
CM7:
-Speed
-Themes
-More features
Stock:
- IT JUST WORKS

Your screenshot shows that you charged phone multiple times and barely managed to get 16 hrs battery life. I have tried more than 30 ROM's and I have not seen a single Cyanogenmod beating Stock ROM's in battery life. I have tried various settings and various apps that could control CPU settings yet CM7 never managed to give me a better battery life.

this is my experience too. I´m loading everyday at work, so i have enough battery for the rest of the day
quite good
always on 3g ,1.5 h music ,40 sms ,some surf over 3g and wifi ( during lunchtime )
if i make a light usage ,i can manage to last 2 days , i'm quite satisfied
i last 3 days if i dont use wifi /3G and with second core disabled (i make it during trip)
i'm on CM7 Hybrid revolution by stefan.
I think your phone have a REAL problem, even if i try i just cant empty my batt in 2 hours (even with OC ,screen backlite maximus ,and playing riptide online.......i lasted 3 h)

i think it would make more sense to rate your battery life by stating how long the screen was on and on what conditions (wifi on/off/ 3g/ 2g/ brightness lv/ have you been watching video or playing games/ just typing sms or what ever)
my record was about 6h screen on time at 25% brigtness, 2g, gaming about half of that time. but i suspect the battery is getting old now, since i struggle to reach 3.5 h screen on time with the same conditions and much less gaming.
