My IS is running 2.3.3 stock rom.
when i download the update through check for update.
it showed update for 2.3.5 available after download and trying to install update.
i get a weird screen when at boot and the update is not applied..
pulling of the battery and starting the phn again is at same stage.
i have also attached a pic
plz some one help me..
try pressing power+vol up and doing a factory reset then rebooting
power + vol up or down?
it didnt help
Little more info? Did you get the menu to appear when you pressed vol up + power? Did you receive any error messages when you ran the OTA?
On another note: Do you have adb/fastboot set up?
Edit: try not to pull the battery, instead reset the phone by pressing vol up + vol down + power

When you remove the battery, hold vol down and power while replacing the battery to enter hboot.
Get adb and fastboot set up on your PC.
i have adb and fastboot in my pc..
when its boots to update it then it just starts for a sec then stops..
plz some one help me..
I think we are having a hard time understanding each other. Maybe post some more screen photos or take the phone in to a service centre.
i tried to verify the signature of the zip throught 4ext recovery and the zip signature verification failed..

3 button trick is working?
vol up + home + on/off
or to download mode:
vol down + home + on/off
(start from turned off state)

It's dead. Time to ring Samsung, plead innocence and hope for a repair or replacement

in recovery try:
wipe data/factory reset
this will wipe your data so if you can get it working some other way and/or dont want to loose your data dont do it
You're more lucky, you can easly flash it correctly trough odin and/or cwm/recovery.
Somtimes you'll need a adb trick getting into downloadmode if it aint working with connecting it to ODIN without kies, having a CMD open typing from the folder "adb reboot recovery" en hit enter/return when the the COM port is flashing yellow in ODIN.
What stage of flashing from Odin did this happen? It should go into download mode. Try disconnecting power and battery and waiting a few minutes. If you cant do that, return the phone. If they wont replace the phone, there is a way of forcing the phone into download mode using the following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
If you do get to download mode, reflash to a stock Eclair following the instructions carefully

Hi Guys,
I was on 1.434 and rooted my device with the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v29.
everything worked like charm.
rebooted twice and checked that SU was there.
the next step was CWM for locked bootloaders.
downloaded the newest package lockeddualrecovery1.7.installer and followed the on screen instructions.
After finishing my device rebooted.
After the reboot I have purple/pink LED on and SONY logo on the screen. phone vibrates for half a sec every 10-15 seconds.
none of power / power +vol up / power + vol down combo works.
Can;t even shutdown the device.
The phone is in that state for 15 minutes already and doesnt seem to get any better.
Any ideas?

Well you my friend have a soft brick, Restore with flashtool and you will be up and running in 30mins max
edit: also if your BL is locked you will get this everytime you wipe cache when installing new rom,
When you flashed Dual recovery something went a little bit wrong
Maddhouse, thanks for your answer.
flashtool doesnt recognize the device.
I was able to reset it by holding vol up + power
after the reset it gets to the sony screen and vibrates.

You need to go into flash tool and get a FTF ready to flash then when phone shuts down to reboot plug it in as FLASHMODE,
So i've used RUU to get my device back to 1.28.401.7 and then flashed clockwork recovery to root my device, everything went good until device started to update my OS, so now it stuck on the update screen, holding power button to restart device is not working, what to do?
EDIT: Finally Restarted, but went over again, and now it turned off completely and when im pressing the power button, its just flashing the button lights
For apply an OTA, you need the stock recovery.
So, for reboot your phone, put it on a stronger light and longpress power + vol -

:good:
was with the original rom lg. and then went instalr the recovery of the cyanogen rom manager app, and then hung up the phone and now the message appears in red at the top of the screen
"Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel.
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002)"
and I can not get into download mode to install the original rom again.
and now what do I do? I lost my phone?
you flashed cwm without unlocking your bootloader. re-flash latest jellybean kdz file for your phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723, then read some more about unlocking bootloader, and then start again.

but now I am unable to get into download mode on the phone. is
" Now just hold down vol - key ( hold hold hold dont release !!!! ) and plug the USB cable until you get screen like this :-"
he does not. whenever I do this it only vibrates strong and goes to the screen with the error message. I do not know why that. remember one time it happened to me already but can not remember how I resolved it is possible to even lose the download mode?
Its not possible afaik. Are you sure you are holding only vol - key and plugging in? Dont hold power key!
yes, I'm almost the whole day trying to get into download mode by pressing volume down + connecting the usb. and whenever it vibrates strong and hangs on lg logo. tried to volume up + usb connect. and no download mode. I'm going crazy with this phone. otherwise hesitate to hard reset? or other shortcut to download mode?

hard reset wont help you, as far as i know, you somehow need to enter s/w upgrade screen. did you try it with battery out?
he battery of the same error, and no battery it does nothing, or vibrate, or flash screen, nothing happens
Will I not be able to see my optimus running again? :crying:
it is not possible to load the kernel, what could I do?

Hi Raphael20 and everyone else,
Did you manage to figure out a solution to this? I have the same issue, i.e. cannot start my phone by holding the power button. Not even when people suggest to get to the S/W Update screen by holding the Volume down + plug into the computer.
I got to this error when I tried to do a factory reset. I installed the ClockworkMod Recovery. Then the factory reset via Volume up + Power button gave me the "Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel" error. I somehow managed to get access to my phone by holding the Volume down + plug into the computer. Then tried to do a factory reset via the system settings of my phone. My phone restarted and then gave me the "Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel" screen of death! Now Volume down + plug into the computer gives me the "Critical Failure: Unable to start Kernel", no matter whether I have restarted my computer and I have tried another computer. It seems that the bootloader is wrecked.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
hello all friends.
I have a hard brick in my Z3c ... rather than install a full rom, I installed an update to 135 MB, and had given full wipe the system the device simply does not care anymore.
FlashTool does not work, already tried everything and it will not.
Error of drivers but they are installed all the drivers ... ok.
I TWRP on the device but can not access it for flashing back up what I had done.
Simply do not have access into the Z3c ...
Some logical solution to this problem ??
Grateful to all the friends who can help.

Nope, it's just a soft-brick
Press power + vol.up until it vibrates 3 times.
Then flash a stock firmware with Flashtool. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706

I had that exact problem when installing Cyanogenmod a couple of days ago, realized there was no internal storage anymore so i flashed a pre root zip and got my files back.
I was using XZDR, I think it is just a problem with the latest twrp...
