color too bright - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For same software, iphone display words as dark red,but note is bright red. My eye is very tired. How to adjust it?

Go to settings....display....brightness -and then adjust brightness. Alternatively, swipe your finger from left to right on the notification bar on top of screen to lessen brightness. You can also change screen mode (settings...display...screen mode) which can make colours less bright.
If you try and all these options fail, try some ray bans. They work for me ;-)

Also try changing the display mode to movie since the others are very oversaturated.

I advise you to use the free widget Screen Filter.
With this widget you can set your screen to every brightness you wish.

[Q] Blinded by the sun! ...app for that? ;-)

Why, hello there!
With the Cali sun rendering my Droid almost impossible to browse I come to XDA to seek advice on possible solutions to make the ability to see the screen even marginally better! (Bar a anti-glare shield) Heard there are some possible tweaks on brightening the screen beyond it's apparent '100%' brightness but am curious if this is just positive thinking?
I have been hunting on forums for tips and tricks but to no feasible avail and, 'go in the shade' falls short of answering my question!
So is there any new developments on this or is it not possible to brighten the screen to browse on a sunny day?
Much appreciated!

Are you rooted? If so go to the Market and download Adjbrightness app, it is free and lets you turn the screen display brightness to its Max or any other preset or custom brightness you like. You can also turn off the backlight on the touch keys. If you aren't rooted try auto setting in the display options or try an on screen widget such as the power bar widget that is stock loaded on the Droid1. Long press the homescreen, choose widget, powerbar. Hope this helped.
Thank you for Your reply!
I don't think I worded my question properly.. I meant brightening the screen beyond using an app that can adjust the brightness (I have mine set to 100% in the sun and 0% at night!)
I was hoping there was a further tweak to get the screen even brighter to browse when the sun is glarong down...if that is even possible?
Thank you so much!
.......Ohh and yes I'm rooted (LithiumMod)

Dim screen further.

I find that my screen doesn't dim enough when I'm in a dark room. I've obviously taken manual control over brightness. I k ow its possible for the screen to to dimmer because my alarm application can dim the screen. But is like a way for this to be system wide. Does anybody know a way of doing this?
If you can share I'd be most appreciative.

I use something called screen filter from the market. It puts something similar to a black screen overlay on the screen and allows you to control how much it dims.

You can also get an app called Curvefish Brightness Level which will dim your screen lower. The phone controls only allow you to bring it down to 8%, I believe. This app lowers the brightness to 0%, which makes a difference.
For further dimming, use the app recommended above.
My eyes thank you both. I tried Curvefish's solution and it couldn't do low enough (works well, but my room is pitch black at night. Would work for someone in a theater which is why I'm keeping it). Screen filter works extremely well for my needs. The only downside is it does some funky things to blacks when enabled. I can live with that, and its a small price to pay for might time reading comfort.
Thanks again.
EDIT And if anyone wants to know, I'm using Alarm Clock Plus. I like it a lot.

+1 to Screen Filter...

Sony Xperia T on Bell Screen flickering.

Now I'm on the latest stock software 4.1.2 but I'm rooted. All I did was install titanium backup.....anyways
The screens color flickers when in androids gradient screen. You know the splash screen when an app loads? The blue grey gradient? Flickers like mad. Also, I feel like the Bravia engine is always on and affecting the ui. Brightness will change by itself and so will the color sometimes. This didn't happen when I played a game!!! Software issue? I also loaded up gradient images in Google no issue there.
It's annoying, whenever a grey android menu pops up sometimes the brightness and color will dim then go back up again when I exit the prompt or menu. Help??
Ugh like right now, the loading circle spun when I posted this topic. When it disappeared my screen brightened up.

Prompts or menu things like this dim my brightness and color. Then when I exit it the brightness shoots right back up and color as well.
Is the brightness set to auto? Try setting manual brightness.
Edit : bootloader unlocked?

Brava engine and auto brightness turned off, brightness set to max
Fir example you press the power button and the menu opens right? You don't shut off and exit the menu. The brightness seems to have dimmed but goes back up again. This happened whenever grey menu pops up I think. Or when I pull down the notification center and exit it, the brightness seems to have dimmed.as well but goes back up again after.
How can I check fir bootloader unlock?

I'm sorry that I don't know what's exactly happening on your phone right now.
You could try resetting your phone to default settings and see if the problem still persists.
And forget about the bootloader part.

Ah it's okay, I've tried that. It seems like an overly aggressive Bravia Engine/auto brightness, except it doesn't apply to just photos and videos but the system as well.

on my xperia t it looks like the background ui elements get dimmed while foreground elements, like popups are still bright. This looks like a compositing effects with a nice dim transition and this looks pretty normal to me.
Why is my xperia t u able to render gradient images properly?
I mean the screen shots are low quality but clearly you can see that the edges of the glow look bad.

[Q] screen backlight perameters.

I use my Z3C at night quite often and find that the backlighting is too bright even turned all the way down. The adaptive lighting option does not bring it bright enough durring daylight use if left un the low setting. Is there any way to adjust the backlight other than a 3rd party app?

Do you mean other than the brightness slider?
Install lux and set it to adjust brightness automatically depending on ambiant light.
Set it to -10 or 5% with 1 lux and 100% with 100. Etc. It take time to adjust it but will save your eyes and battery.
Donation isn't necessary but bring some good options.
Works like default adaptive brightness but with more steps (if you desire), darker or lighter...

After a few days with Lux, it is much better. It allows the screen to dim and brighten way past stock settings. I really like the night filter mode. When i am outside and check my phone i am no longer getting blasted by a spotlight bright screen!
